Isn't this the stuff Joe Rogan has been taking. He's not vaxxed. Caught covid recently, and then shrugged it off like a loose cardigan...just like Magic did.
He jammed about 20 different meds into his system at the slightest sign of a cold, he can't have been downplaying the virus much.

Does the viper's venom ability to "inhibit the virus’s ability to multiply by 75 percent" work because the host is already dead from the venom?

In the scientific journal Molecules, scientists shared results from a study on monkey cells showing that a molecule from a Brazilian jararacussu pit viper can inhibit the virus’s ability to multiply by 75 percent.
By the sounds of that, there's no living host to begin with. It's all petri dish stuff.
Does the viper's venom ability to "inhibit the virus’s ability to multiply by 75 percent" work because the host is already dead from the venom?

We could be fully open by Christmas with double jab vaccine passports for international travel rolling out at the end of next month effectively ending the travel ban for those Australians. The NSW/QLD border bubble is set to be re introduced with it set to keep moving south as NSW get to the 70% double jab target.
Please no more variants...
niko_cee
10-09-2021, 06:20 AM
That's all well and good, but you're going to have to get used to much higher case numbers than you have ever been comfortable with for that to work. Britain is over 80% vaccinated, with 90% having had one and is still lolling around with significant new daily rates of infection. It would seem that the endemic level of this thing is about where we are - tens of thousands of daily cases and death numbers in the low hundreds. I suppose, of course, you could do what everyone else seems to do and just stop bother testing as that is the key driver of the stats.
There will be more variants.

I have no idea how this plays out I'm just over it and really over zero covid people (women). I'm double jabbed and everyone I care about is as well. As soon as we have enough for everyone to have that option we just need to open up forever the anti vax people can live with their choices eg limited employment options, no pub, no live sport, no concerts, no travel etc. I do wonder if private hospitals will refuse to treat anti vax people as well...
Spikey M
10-09-2021, 06:52 AM
What do you think the reaction would be over there if 1-200 deaths were being recorded per day? It's pretty much being ignored here because we're used to it, but would it not come as a shock to you guys?
Spikey M

The Hospitals in QLD are currently running skeleton crews due to testing and vaccine hubs.
We would collapse if we had the covid pressures that the UK has been under.

I have anti vax people in my immediate family who are all vaccinated for everything except covid.

Apparently someone sat on her desk went for a test yesterday after work so they made her do an LFT. I imagine if she had refused she would be sent home without pay. They were insisting on people doing them regularly and when they returned from holidays but it seems like that only applied to certain people and not others.

That's not allowed. Companies are not allowed to force staff to take LFT. We've given them to staff and asked them to take LFT, but noted that we cannot enforce it if a staff member doesn't want to.

They do seem pretty useless, all the people I know that have received a positive result from them are either false positives, or after the point of showing symptoms and them being quite poorly. I.e. they are shit at early detection.
Spikey M

I can't imagine I'd bother doing one now. Maybe if I had to for a flight or something I guess.
If I had symptoms I'd do a proper one, but I'm not testing when I'm feeling fine and if you are feeling ill and test positive on an LFT you have to get a proper test done anyway, so what's the fucking point?

1 in 45 people in Scotland had Covid last week apparently.
That must make the Mortality rate absolutely pathetic now.
It's been a quick recovery following day 5 this time round but I was unusually feeling like an afternoon nap on days 7 and 8 which must be what the much talked about long-COVID sufferers are reporting. It seems to be fixed now after I went to bed 2 hours early yesterday but still, terrifying to have such a close shave. Gonna make a joint vid with Karl Darlow and some fat universal credit claiming single mums to warn people.

166,000 deaths a year. Annoyingly, that does work out at 1 in 2 or 1 in 3 depending on location and detection and gender. Well, that's put me in a mood. :moop:

Cancer is going up because the population is increasing, more factors that can't be linked as variables keep emerging (vaping for example, stuff like that will likely take ages before conclusive evidence of the risks comes out) and as previously mentioned people are living well past their natural life cycle. People don't die of 'old age' anymore, I'd argue my 80 year old grandad did even if it was the lung cancer that finished him off.

Thailand and Vietnam pretty fucked. Vietnam is at about 5% vaccinated. There's just not enough vaccines. Government are begging for countries to donate. The north (Hanoi) basically has it under control, but it had time to spread here in the south. 10,000 cases per day, strict lockdown, military still on streets, 6pm curfew.
Gov have indicted Jan 15th 2022 to return to "normality".

10,000 isn't a lot grand scheme of things, but the Gov did such a shit job preparing for this, they have to stop it spreading.
Vietnam was one of the countries who originally managed it well. We closed borders asap and the whole of last year was like 2,000 cases. Then, in April this year, Delta arrived and now we're at 600,000. Gov thought they had won, and sat on the arse doing fuck all last year.

Lol
Imagine that you are not Dutch but you have arranged an important appointment with a Dutch person for ‘half acht’ (half eight). It could be a business meeting, a doctor’s visit, or even a date. Being a punctual person you set your alarm early. After you’ve woken up, showered, got dressed and eaten breakfast you leave the house with time to spare. Your journey goes smoothly and you arrive at the appointment location on time…
Then something strange happens. As you wait you discover a text on your phone from an hour ago. It’s from your Dutch business partner/doctor/date. In the text, they inform you (with an annoyed tone) that you never showed up for the appointment at half eight. You check the nearby clock on the wall and it is clearly pointing to half eight. Confused, you wonder if you’ve started to lose your mind or if you’ve fallen victim to some weird time anomaly. However, neither of these is the case. You’ve simply fallen victim to the Dutch system for telling the time.
In English, if someone says ‘half eight’ they mean half past eight (8:30).
However, if a Dutch person says ‘half eight’ they mean half to eight (7:30). The exact same numbers are said in the exact same order but there is a difference of an hour. If you are not careful this difference can easily catch you out (like it has with me many, many times before).

Why is Nicki Minaj vs Chris Witty a thing? I don’t watch/read the news but caught some daft “rap roulette” thing on the radio where Fleur East rapped about Nicki Minaj having beef with the UK government over covid.
