Having a warped sense of smell and taste isn't unhealthy. Being an asthmatic, fat, sweaty 37 year old fuck is.
Thing is I admit to being unhealthy and take steps to improvement in this area. You seem far more delusional.
Also, your post did actually make me laugh a great deal so thanks for that.
And as Yevrah said. Please get the vaccine, it will help you greatly. If you can't bear to take advice from an "asthmatic, fat, sweaty 37 year old fuck". Take it from him.
To be fair Dave, some random on Instagram says differently so who are we to believe?

When will they drop the zero-Covid thing?
When they revolt and kick out the CCP. It's all about population control now, nothing to do with being afraid of COVID.

They have about 40% uptake among the elderly of the dogshit vaccine that they use. If they're locking them up like this then they might as well pin them down and stick a needle in their arm.

Unless they know that there's something in it that causes longer term damage. Whatever strain we're on now must be so weak there's surely no medical reason they're doing this.
It's control. Hopefully xi gets the boot.

I was going to suggest the same, the ring, not the scorn. Feels like it's one of those things that has gone by the wayside, along with the fabled mixed grill, and the world is a poorer place for it. Egg is fine, but that's ham, egg and chips.

In a posh pub recently I ordered what was ostensibly ham, egg and chips (with some fancy adjectives around it but that's par for the course). What I got was a badly undercooked pig's knuckle, about 5 flat wide chips, and a whole boiled egg coated in breadcrumbs. Almost called the police.

I can't say I'm surprised and for me, it was an absolute no brainer as to that's where it came from the more time wore on.
I never said it wasn't from a lab, I said there was no evidence that it was. If they've found evidence then cool.
In personal news, I managed to bring COVID back from Barcelona and infect the wife and baby. Second time round felt like a pretty shitty cold but I'm over it after a week, the wife is still slightly feverish but it's her first time so probably hitting harder. Baby took it out in three days and is back to it.

There are a lot of people here who are wearing them day to day. According to a taxi driver it's for autoproteccion, or in other words, the idiots think that wearing a mask makes them safer. I'm not sure that even mask proponents in the west think that.

Some interesting rabbitholes to be ventured down there.
I'm definitely onboard with the idea that the Chinese have been entirely unhelpful and probably culpable [through accident/incompetence] in the whole shebang, but it'd be good to try and find a non-crank source to justify that line of thinking. Perhaps any descent into the whole 'gain of function' jargon, whilst entirely necessary, makes it seem a bit conspiratorial.
Yevrah
25-03-2023, 06:33 PM
If it did come from a lab (it did) there will never be any proper evidence of this as China aren't interested in sharing it and the Western World (largely) aren't interested in looking for it. It's a major inconvenience that's better to label as a conspiracy theory.
Spikey M
25-03-2023, 06:58 PM
Yeah, It did. I don't know why we're not just treating it as fact at this point. It either came from where it exists naturally, 1000 miles away from the 1st known cluster of cases, or from the lab, where they were studying it, a bus ride away. But yeah, there's no chance China ever put their hands up and say "yeah sorry lads, the work experience kid was doing lines from the petri dish", so it's just going to be another of histories accepted but unacknowledged lies.

John Arne
27-04-2023, 09:10 AM
Not quite yet.... but the 'c' word is started to re-enter the vernacular. There is a week holiday next week, so I think people are just shitting the bed about millions of folk returning to the countryside, catching something, then bringing it back to the city.
I've told my team if they feel sick, just stay at home - but don't test yourself. If you don't test, you can't be positive for Covid.
Jimmy Floyd
27-04-2023, 09:13 AM
I found it very noticeable in South America how prominent covid still is in people's consciousness, whereas in Europe it is gone. The reason of course is that no one there (or at least in the shitter nations of Bolivia and Paraguay) is vaccinated, either because of stupid conspiracy theories, or useless government procurement, or both.
John Arne
27-04-2023, 09:18 AM

I'm back from my trip, with some observations:
Firstly, I got everything I wanted, bar the toilet roll. When I saw there wasn't any I wasn't going to bother with anything, but then it hit me, if I catch this cunt then I'm potentially not going to be able to leave the house for anything from 2 weeks+ without the risk of infecting others - I know the government want me to do that, but I'd rather not and even if I could guarantee I won't am I really going to want to get out if I'm feeling fucking awful. So back in I went perusing all the isles with one of the smaller trolleys. They were restocking furiously, so this meant much of what I wanted was available, albeit not some of the usual brands.
While toilet roll and eggs (no, I don't know either) were all gone, Nurofen was back on the shelves and I was also able to get some pasta, chopped tomatoes and all the tinned goods. There was one brand of pasta that was strangely still all there. Thinking it must be coeliac shit to start with, I initially dismissed it, but then the words MADE IN ITALY jumped out at me and that explained that. Picked 5 bags up (the max I could as per their polite request) and this theme repeated elsewhere. Chopped tomatoes. Pesto. Anything with made in Italy on the front is untouched.
After doing a few circuits I ended up with a trolley full of stuff that eventually amounted to just under Ł200, but that included toiletries, and household products. Up to this point it had been plain sailing, the place was reasonably dead and easy to navigate, bar the shop floor lads who were moving cages and unpacking them at an impressive rate. Then I got to the counter and as all the actual tills were closed I had to use a self service one, which for that much shopping was a right fucking ball ache. The technology on these things is now so outdated they make the McDonald's touch screen machines (before they patched them) look good.
I know some of you may think that much stuff is excessive, but I don't consider it stockpiling. I've just bought some non-perishable items, 2-4 week's worth, that will comfortably see me through should I catch it and be ill at home on my own. My Mum is in her mid 60s now so there will come a time in the not too distant future where I'd rather she didn't leave the house for a bit and most of my other friends and relatives round here have kids and I don't want to burden them with helping me unless I'm seriously ill. This food will be kept only to be eaten if and when I catch it and I'd suggest anyone living on their own do likewise.
Actual stockpiling may come later, depending on how it develops in other countries that are ahead of us in the spread of this fucker.
You bought as much as the shop would allow you to. At four in the morning.
Yevrah
06-05-2023, 01:58 PM
Thanks for posting that as I couldn’t be arsed to find it to prove your characterisation above to Boydy was complete horse shit - as is clear, I merely bought enough food so I didn’t have to rely on anyone else to get any for me if I got it and had to stay inside for two weeks.

From the BBC'S live feed of the Covid Enquiry.
The inquiry's lawyer shows some entries from Sir Patrick Vallance’s diaries from 2020.
In the first, Vallance says Boris Johnson is “obsessed with older people accepting their fate and letting the young get on with life and the economy going”.
Another entry says: “He says his party ‘thinks the whole thing is pathetic and Covid is just Nature’s way of dealing with old people – and I am not entirely sure I disagree with them’.”
A third entry, from December 2020, reads: "Chief whip says 'I think we should let the old people get it and protect others’. PM says ‘a lot of my backbenchers think that and I must say I agree with them’."
Cain says the PM was concerned about society as a whole, but some of the language is not “what I would have used”.
So far, Boris Johnson's spokesman has declined to comment on the evidence given at these hearings, but says he's "co-operating fully" with the inquiry

I had to go yesterday and had the exact opposite experience. I was very much expecting to have one doled out to me at the reception desk, but nothing. Nobody had them on. Patients or staff.
I had the same experience when I went for a blood test last week. I only saw a couple wearing them, 30-40 year olds.
My appointment letter a few weeks ago had a huge section about mask wearing, how it was mandatory, etc. Then when I got there, I think there was perhaps 1 or 2 pensioners wearing them, but none of the staff.
My local M&S food hall was rammed with mask wearers the other day. Obviously a certain type of clientele go in there and it shows because I’ve seen literally none anywhere else.

That's about 2% more people than claim they've seen an alien. Hardly indicative of anything.
A few cases have been confirmed in my daughter's daycare. Now she has to either wear a mask for the next thirteen days or stay home two days, take a test (in daycare) on the third day and, if it is negative, go back on the fourth day, no mask needed. Apparently going with a mask for two days and then removing it after testing negative on the third day is not an option. Good rulemaking, CDC.

The less unhinged outlets haven't been keen on reporting anything about labs and covid, they spent a decent chunk of time insisting that a lab leak was nothing more than a fanciful conspiracy theory.
niko_cee
19-01-2024, 11:20 AM
Has it been upgraded from that status?
I think we can all probably agree that China knew something was up long before they told anyone, and maybe they were trying to understand what it was within a lab environment, but I doubt they ever had control of the situation, certainly not to the extent that this wild thing re-emerged from a lab, much less that it was created/designed in one - which is sort of what the mutant covid brain [what a search by the way] article is saying.
China's lollest reaction of all nations to covid heavily suggests that this wasn't some grand conspiracy gone wrong. I mean, it's not like they're averse to a bit of collateral human damage in the furtherance of their agenda generally.

19-01-2024, 11:34 AM
As with all totalitarian regimes, the worst thing that can happen is events appearing to run away from state control. Denying it for ages (possibly even to themselves) and then switching tack to a massively brutal response is the natural response of tyrants to more or less any crisis. Soviets were specialists at it, particularly in the Brezhnev times.

There are no good films to be made about pandemics. There are no heroes, except for ordinary people continuing to do their jobs, which doesn't make for a great film. There are no moments of pathos or high drama. Just misery and doom.
