Then don't go indoors and gather again. Criticising the government for allowing shops to open, in the current circumstances, is deranged.

Thing is, as much as a 20-something-year-old is unlikely to really suffer from COVID, they could. Some people get really ill. They’re extremely unlikely to die, but that doesn’t mean it can’t suck.
And then there’s, you know, being considerate and stuff. Is that woman who lives with her parents really that wrong to worry?
Wearing a mask while cycling outdoors as Lewis mentioned is a bit mental, I agree, and I feel sorry for folks like that because it can’t be enjoyable being that stressed/paranoid about it.
But I think it’s understandable to worry about going indoors and gathering again. I wouldn’t worry about catching it myself, if I didn’t have other people to consider and I could just go and live on my own and isolate whenever needed, but you’re certainly not a “drip” if you’re worried.
My point, is that the BBC seem to deliberately seek these people out, when they are a pathetic, drippy, minority. I don't care that they exist, I would just quite like for them not to be held up as the norm by the state broadcaster.
I also can't see how being scared to try a t-shirt on is any less ridiculous than wearing a mask on a bike.
Lots of things can make you ill. Is he avoiding the Avocado Sandaes from his local Vegan pop-up for fear of e.coli? I doubt it. Covid just isn't dangerous to someone in their 20's and worrying about it at this point is drippy as fuck. He's taking a bigger risk every time he rides his PennyFarthing through Peckham, the cunt.
Yeah, well fair enough, that’s what that person was saying, wasn’t it?
Spikey M

No. She said opening shops was silly.
Yeah fair enough.
Your t-shirt point - I think the risk would come way more from being indoors with potential spreaders than it would from the surface transmission from clothes.

But the article that sparked all of this signs off with this 'analysis'.
When non-essential retail reopens this week, you will be totally within your rights in a store or a restaurant to put down a product and leave if you feel uncomfortable. If you're worried about lack of ventilation, long queues, or other shoppers getting too close, then don't feel that you have to stay. Just leave.
Be careful around touchpoints. Many shops will provide hand sanitiser, but it's always useful to bring your own for any time you push a door handle, pick up a trolley, or rake through a clothes rack.
Hang on to your receipts. For lots of us, changing rooms might still feel a little too uncomfortable, so if you're buying without trying, then keep the receipt and check with the store. Most will offer you a refund, exchange or credit note if you return it within 28 days.
I've bolded the most lol bits, are we really in a world where people need to be told their within their rights not to buy something and lots of us are scared by changing rooms? Really?

It's entirely because of shit like this "article" that people are feeling like this though. It's fear mongering at a time when they should be doing the opposite. They should be pointing at the data and saying "lads, the cases are still plummeting. The deaths are too. The vaccine is mustard and we're safe to get back out there. Just wash your hands and wear your mask for a little while longer, but don't stress".

Yep. The scaremongering that the BBC and other outlets have been indulging in is nothing short of a disgrace. It's sort of understandable when you're trying to get people to follow rules that stop spread when that was needed, but not when the rules and game have changed.
Putting up an article that suggests clothing racks are infested and changing rooms are plague pits, without any context of how likely one is to catch it via those means is pathetic.
Reckless behaviour. Blood on your hands.

Last week for Easter we invited a cousin along with his family, they were originally going to just stand outside the window (Sister has a ground floor flat) and we'd put drinks/food on the windowsill but as it was a little cold just decided they might as well come in.
Today we invited an Auntie and her family as it's my Sister's birthday and another Auntie ended up coming over uninvited.
Was pretty fun.

I keep vacillating between OPEN THEN THE CLUBS FUCK IT and realising I'm aligning myself with the anti mask loons and the nutjobs on the right of the Tory party and thinking maybe we should continue to take it easy.
I think my main stance is that, whilst it has been shit, doing all the stuff we had to do for a year or so is one thing, but if they genuinely do continue to massively limit what we can do for a for ages after the vaccines, like rationing for years after WWII finished, I will probably end up getting arrested at some shit rave with Taz.
I do agree with those who say the SCIENTISTS saying woah lads we'll still have to be careful after the vaccine are mostly saying it so divs don't go nuts too soon, but I'm not sure how much that really makes sense.

The point is society's not largely up and running and we've at least another month before that's true, by which time I'm confident we'll have days with zero deaths recorded.
The unwinding has been too slow, maybe only by a matter of weeks, but given we've now had over a year of this on and off, those weeks feel like some kind of sick experiment.
At this point we should be able to drink in(side) a pub and eat in a restaurant - there's nothing in the science that suggests that would be anything like enough of a risk to stop it happening, but bizarrely it's the SCIENCE (in conjunction with a bed wetting leader) keeping us from doing so.

I didn't realise those were the numbers already. How many of those 7 are in the age group of people now fully vaccinated? I would guess all??
Surely with this doing absolute no harm to anyone under 30, the key numbers now are deaths, rather than cases.

That's a weekend figure, so it's a bit lower than the norm. I think the rolling average is 23 or something. Which is still basically nothing and we don't face restrictions for anything else killing 23 people per day.
Deaths should absolutely be the number we're watching. Cases are more or less irrelevant if the vaccine is 100% effective at preventing serious illness. Sadly, the government/media lead everything with whatever data sounds worst.

Apparently it's the lockdown bringing the deaths down, not the (100% effective at preventing serious illness) vaccine.
Well I would say he's right. Vaccinations are one part of the puzzle but the lockdown has been the direct contributor right now to reducing cases and deaths. Longer term, with more vaccinated, it will be due to the vaccines.

Cricket bullshit latest: after a late revision yesterday, spectators have now been banned again until mid-May. So you are allowed to come and use our outdoor hospitality at the ground, but you're not allowed to be a spectator. I presume we will be putting black screens up on all our tables in case anyone is tempted to have a peek at the match going on.
Either that or we are just going to ignore these fucking stupid regulations.

According to my sources it all comes from the idea that there were some outbreaks last September/October associated with spectators at grassroots football in the north of England. Because of that the government nerds (who have probably never visited a sports pitch in their life) want spectators banned, but obviously they can't only ban football spectators, as the football people would have a massive cry, so they have to ban spectators at all sports. However, obviously many sports clubs have an associated bar or even restaurant area, which are now allowed to open for outdoor seating along with pubs, and they can't selectively shut those down because that would also be discrimination. So you end up with a ridiculous scenario where people can sit on tables of 6 outside a building, but an old man with a dog isn't allowed to sit on a bench on his own, in the open air, 100 yards away.
Ona similarly lol note, we got told a year ago to stop seeing our family because some fatties were dying :D

Wasn't the actual stat that the rapid tests were picking up something like 90% of positives (so 10% false negatives?) and that 1 in 1000 returns as a false positive?
The sensitivity of lateral flow tests are amazing with very good specificity. That is to say if you test negative you are extremely unlikely to have the disease. But if you test positive it’s only around a 75% probability you actually are positive, so 25% will test positive and not actually have covid.

I've come to the conclusion that the reason they won't shut the borders is that, once the infrastructure was in place to keep them closed and track who comes and goes, they don't fancy their chances of convincing the population to open them again (at least not to the normal let every cunt in the world move here levels). Just heard in a meeting “some staff are still furloughed until September.” Are they still on 80%? Have some people been receiving 80% pay for doing nothing, since April 2020?
Yep. Extract below...
The extension until September 2021 means employees will continue to receive 80% of their salary for hours not worked until the scheme ends. The current 80% government contribution will continue until the June 2021 then this contribution will be tapered with employers contributing 10% in July, increasing to 20% in August and September.
Edit : I bet there are many who are loving furlough life. Dossers.

On the basis that many people have not been sticking to the rules for quite some time and are in fact going round to see family and friends, etc. Would it be reasonable to have expected the daily cases to have risen by now on that basis? And the fact it has not jumped up, is that tangible evidence to suggest the vaccine is significantly helping to keep the cases under control (as well as deaths and hospitalisations)?
Or am I talking nonsense and the daily cases will shoot up after 17th May and/or 21st June?
Lad, don't start this sort of talk again, you'll awaken Shinners. We're 3 weeks away from sauna heaven.
