The results of a lot of polls I have read indicate a huge skew towards women, which suggests that I (perhaps understandably) don't talk to enough women in my day to day life, or that INSTITUTIONAL SEXISM is real. That isn't to say women are right, but I found it interesting.
The most telling one was when 'the public' wanted beauty and nail bars open before pubs and restaurants.

A load of the government had a party recently to celebrate some yank ex minister getting a cushy envoy gig (whole other sorry story), and now that there’s questions they’ve trotted out the attorney general to tell us all that we were allowed to have gatherings of 200 all along and we just didn’t know. Despite anything even near that number for joe public not being allowed. And they’ll get away with it too. What a country.

No mask is needed for the 3 Ds - Drinking, Dancing and Dining. Otherwise mask up. Bonkers.
I had a really normal weekend that felt like being back in 2019. Two restaurants, a pub and a shopping trip. Ordering at the bar, no crazy one way system, 8 of us around a table and no requirement for masks.

How do you manage to judge someone for not having a vax but then not wear a mask yourself?Nah, anyone who’s not had at least one jab by now deserves ridiculing until they’re guilted into having it and stop risking lives. Masks are nowhere near as effective as the goddamn vaccine in preventing people you go near from catching covid.
I went to a wedding on Friday with the local director of public health and nobody had masks on. I asked if she was tempted to put hers on but she said no, she was comfortable that the other guests seemed like a sensible crowd and have more than likely started their vaccinations, if not already double-jabbed. She even danced with strangers on the dance floor, no masks in sight but lots of delicious chemicals coursing through our throbbing veins.
So antimaskers (well, non-maskwearers, rather than the ‘wtf u wearing a mask for lol’ type) are fine, now they’re no longer enforced, but antivaxxers are just straight dumb.

It's all a game of semantics though.
Being vaccinated puts you at reduced risk of actually getting it [and obviously being seriously unwell if you do get it] so it prevents spread in that regard.
As to transmissability [or viral load] this (https://www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n1960) seems to suggest the effect of vaccination may not be that great* [I don't know the veracity/credibility of the study cited]. Obviously the overall message is vaccine good, so maybe the other stuff is in the too soon to know for sure pile.
People will always pick the evidence they want to suit their agenda, so I guess transmission rates could be back on the menu for the novid/zero covid alliance.
*edit - maybe that should be not completely effective, as the wedding anecdote seems like a good level of reduced transmission seeing as all you hear is that once it gets into a domestic setting then everyone gets it.

You just have to look at the numbers, really. Cases are down from a month ago, hospitalisations are just over a tenth of last year's peak. Even with side effects, it's a tiny amount of people that get caught out by clots. There is no argument for vaccines having no effect. There is no argument for them being inherently dangerous.

I'm assuming you're the only person in the UK to have received the Moderna one. You're basically French now.
Certainly in Aberdeen it’s the most common one. The day I went for mine it was the only one available. My friend went earlier and specifically askew for Pfizer and was told they weren’t doing any that day.
Regardless - I’m starting to feel almost human again now. But this morning was not something I’d like to repeat.

Sadly, the Aussies have found a problem that closing the borders can't fix and it's kind of their goto move. Right upto closing the borders on individual houses and leaving the people to die within, apparently.
How are they dealing with the dead bodies? Are they to stay inside forevermore? Or are they burning the houses down? They should burn the houses down really. The mass forest fires that triggered would be a fitting end to all this.

My personal experience over the last 18 months has been good my quality of life has barely been effected by Covid.
I think the Federal Government's response has been disgraceful especially when it comes to leaving Aussies stuck overseas while allowing celebrities to come and go willy Nilly.
I think it is disgraceful to ban returning Aussies who work and live overseas from leaving the country without a tick of approval from the Federal government.
I hate that Scummo has got away with playing politics with the States and we are now in a situation where our State borders are physical boundaries preventing movement between States.
We had such a massive Head start last year and it was all for nothing.
Queensland has been brilliant to live in I reckon my total lockdown days this year would be 25 days give or take. A combination of dumb luck and compliance with the 3 day lockdowns has worked wonders. Australia is truly enormous so people refusing to do the right thing in Sydney and Melbourne has almost zero effect on my quality of life.
