The politics has changed narrative is nonsense as well. People just like personality these days. Farage had it, Corbyn's shown he's got some, Trump (despite being a weaponised tool) has it as well. Clinton, May and Osborne just don't.
If Labour come out of this with any positives, let's not pretend for a moment that it's anything to do with Corbyn's personal magnetism. I mean, just roll that idea around for a bit. Really let it sink in. It's beyond ridiculous.

Bizarrely, the total lack of personality in UK political leadership at the moment seems to have left this as an actual policy-based election. Maybe we should just have elections between blank slates from now on.

Things I've got right:

- The Sun has no effect
- The SNP are for it

Er, that's it.

The SNP were for it the minute they got all those seats in 2015. The worst thing possible for them is a spotlight.

You might have missed the debates, but he's clearly had some serious media training and came off very well across them.

Think Alan Shearer as a the pundit he used to be and how he is now.

One of many ironies going on here, as well as Clegg, Soubry and Rudd possibly losing their seats, and Kate Hoey possibly costing Labour one.

Even in Dundee East, about as strong an SNP constituency there is, their vote has dropped 17%.

Just wait for the spin in the morning.

650 seats, 326 allows you to form a majority government. Tories had 331 prior to the election. Now look to be losing enough to dip below the majority line.

How does the Prime Minister factor in? If you get 326 you are PM? What if you don't?

John

Each result is one seat. 326 seats wins. If nobody reaches that mark whoever got the most gets the first chance to coalition with another party to get across the threshold between them. If they can't, the next most gets a chance, etc.

Yevrah

Mellberg
09-06-2017, 01:01 AM
How does the Prime Minister factor in? If you get 326 you are PM? What if you don't?

Then you can potentially make a deal with a smaller party to take you over the line. If no party can acheive that we have another election.

The Queen invites the PM (which is May) to form a government (i.e. have their agenda voted in). If she is unable to do so from the elected MPs, she resigns and the Queen would then invite Corbyn (Leader of the Opposition) to do so. If he can't either, I'm not sure what happens. Something.

How have the Tories done so well in Scotland?

Scottish Labour absolutely fucked themselves in the build up to the Independence referendum and Kezia Dugdale is a colossal arsehole, so for those who don't want a second referendum Cons are the only choice. It's part protest vote, part genuine desire to be rid of the SNP, who are horribly ineffective.

So that was obviously wrong. However, I have been questioning the idea that Northern (and Welsh) UKIP votes are up for grabs (in any meaningful sense) for years, so if they based their campaign on simply hoovering all of those up then Jesus.

Not to harp on, but the Tories are incredibly lucky to be getting most of the Scottish seats they are as well.

If you assume (and I realise it's an assumption) that SNP votes would generally be against the Tories, if you roll together Labour and the SNP, you have Aberdeen South is 52-42, Angus is 51-45, Ochil & Petersham South is 55-42, Renfrewshire East is 57-40, and Ayr, Carrick & Cumnock is 55-40. Even if the vote distribution of SNP voters wasn't that one sided, those are all some pretty huge margins against the winner.

They're the Steven Bradbury of Scotland.
