Good to see I'm about back to the level I was used to. A little roll of the ball here or there and I could have been 20-3, maybe even 21-2. I used to be able to grind those out most of the time, but I also used to play through the week then to get in practice.

Essentially I need 2-5 for Gold 1, or 5-2 for Elite 3.

I also stopped exclusively using the 4-4-2 this weekend and am reacting to my opponent. If they give an obvious 4-1-2-1-2 then I'll switch to it. The overload on the wings is great. I'm remembering why I loved the 4-2-3-1 as well. It's just a shame that I'm now running into Vieira or Gullit every game now. I've seen 2 red CR7s so far too and they just score any shot within 30 yards.

Finished on 22 wins after starting out 1-4. Hit some mega form. I used the drop back tactic and played on the counter and it did seem to work really well.

1) green timed finishing
2) chipping the ball up and crossing deep at the back post for headers
3) ice skating skill moves

You need to be doing at least one of the three to get elite regular it seems. I don't do any. You can tell once you matchup with man above my level.

You are at some point going to get wrecked. It's all about winning those games you should be winning. You can maybe drop one or two of those over the 30. Then you need to bag 2 or 3 wins you didn't deserve.
I remember many times saying in here I practically stole wins from guys and went on to hit exactly 23 wins.

This is kinda the best time of the year to play FIFA, I feel. There's enough people online that the transfer market is still going and you've built up a decent side over the course of the season.

Even for my relatively modest amount of games played (around 200) I've built a pretty tasty team. Fave players are Tevez, Mertens, Allesandro Gomez and Carnival Icardi (who I just picked up recently). Looking like I can get the 94-rated Illicic for about 87k and then I can start looking to upgrade the other positions who are still fairly basic (bitch).

Got up to 14-6 and I'll call it quits there. Frustrating as I think I might have hit 20 wins with a full 30 games. Considering I started out 1-3, it has been a great run of games since, even with a couple of preventable losses.

I used TOTS Fabian and TOTS Suso in place of UEL Wass and Bale, and they both performed pretty well. TOTS El Shaarawy is a cracking super sub too.

Got to 20 wins with 4 games left and thought fuck it. A rage quit at 1-0 followed by a win in extra time got me to 22 with 2 games left. The latter of those showing the importance of holding a good bench. The guy I played made 3 subs in the first minute. The game was dead even for the first 90 mins, but I brought on Chiesa, Sterling and Rashford and that tipped things my way.

Then I went into game 29 and saw a quite beatable team. This usually means either you've got lucky in matchmaking or more likely, he's a good player with not much time on his hands. A tense game stayed at 1-1 for quite a while before he scored in the 80th. I followed that up with a kick off goal to make it 2-2, having made the subs to throw the kitchen sink after I went down. I managed to fend off his return attempt. In the 88th he still had me penned in from earlier but made one bad pass and a quick triangle set my guys through now 2 v 1 on the keeper. About to sweat it and bang, the guy quits. That was it right there.

My next attempt at game 29 saw me come up against the team you don't want to see. TOTS versions of Ronaldo, Zlatan and Havertz along with R9 to boot. Yet another close game with him being admittedly the better player saw him win 5-3. I also scored one of the best goals I've ever scored with Sarabia. A volley from 35 yards after the ball dropped from the clouds. Keeper didn't move.

At this point I felt aggrieved. So I took a small break and got some water in me and went back for game 30. Team loads up and it's another favourable one, but he quits before kick off is taken.
So I try again and this time get the god squad. All the desirable Icons along with CR7 and that TOTY-ish Bale. I fly down the wing and open the scoring, but he kick off goals me right back. A lot of people seem to do first time shots with their back to goal right from kick off and the top players bang them in. I return favour and then block his attempt. At this point I'm swarming all over him. Then during one of my attacks I notice he goes for a pause. I just start shooting on sight until one fell to Firmino for him to tuck away.
The guy quits and I make Elite 3 just about.

This changes my plans. I'll get 70k for the finish and also may well take the coins in Rivals. That's over 100k there and then the worst TOTS pack would likely net me another 100k. There's also the outside chance of a good red changing my plans further.

In no way thought I'd make that though after sitting at 15-5. I've gone 8-2 to finish out from there against the harder end of the spectrum too. I think it helped that the only point in which I was thinking about my final finish was during the last game.

During my WL run to 22 wins, which is my most ever. I was surprised how calm and composed I was, even during the losses. The one game that prevented the 23 was a loss on penalties. This is the first FIFA ive really played WL and I thought I would break into elite easxily, especialy since on week one. I finished gold one. Im under the mentally that gold one isnt a good ranking. Compared to the whole community, it looks like it is average?

Why we dont have some type of percentage finishing position. We do for rivals and for pro clubs, not not WL. They really need to get their act together for FIFA 20. We need proper numbers and tracking.

Im open to changing Jovic and Da Costa. Da Costa is so slugglish on the ball, even with a Gurdian. Jovic is good, but I really want more. His record for me is 72 games with 52 goals and 21 asssits. I want a ST who will give a one-to-one ratio. KDB is my main goal thread. I can probably get a worse ST and improve on Son headliner. Im open to cuttinf off Aloso now. He is a few games away from 1000. He has been excellent. Fernandinhop with a balanced chem style is superb. I highly recomended him. He can do everything. If the dutch league had a great ST. I would run dumfires at RB.

I still would like to try TOTY Laca. I would need to sell Son to afford him.

Winning 66% of your games against other players who are only there to win themselves at all costs is not average. I'll take the Divisions graph they gave us when they changed to skill point parameters back in March.

Looking at that there are are a very small percentage of players in Division 1. Hard to tell but you could easily suggest anywhere from 5%-10% as a generous estimate. I'm included in that and I know if I finish my games I'm hitting 22-24 wins depending on how the ball rolls through my run. So I'd say not all of Div 1 would even make Elite. That's a very small percentage of people who play the game. You also have to consider that for Elite, you're playing other players finishing in Elite for most of the weekend.

There are people not in Div 1 with the skill to do it, but not being in these seems indicative of them not playing much and therefore not being likely to finish their games.

For Gold you have to scale back a bit but I'd still wager less then 30% of people would do better than 15-15 each weekend. They also made it harder to reach Gold 1 and Elite 3 this year when they cut it back to 30 games. So don't be disappointed with Gold 1. You're just at the point where you've been hitting it for so long you're getting fed up of not moving up, but it sounds like you're nearly there.


As for your team. Bring in Lala and do the Aouar SBC, then get Lacazette for your ST. That's your right side sorted. Then move Silva to your left CAM position.

Looking at Reddit and via messages with others etc, there’s c 5% in D1 at this stage and I’d suggest that 5% probably makes up as many as 50% of those on a ratio of 20:10 in WL. I scrape into both every week, which to me suggests the matchmaking rules, as simplistic as they are, actually do work for the formats.

I just lost a game because my opponent scored in the 51st minute of the first half. There were 2 minutes added on and the ball was in midfield for most of it. I hate Rivals gameplay.

The reason I'm playing is that I've found out the hard way that 87 Dembele TOTS is a moments card and they do not count in the Ligue 1 SBC. So I'm 2/4 for M'Vila now.

I've had 6 games at it so far, with Depay scoring in all but 1. It's killing the rest of my team though. I'd purposefully self relegate but I'm only losing 10 rivals points for a loss and that's a hell of a long way to go back to Div 2.

I've never really had too much of an issue with shadows on the pitch. Even see, I don't know of too many stadiums that have that. I use the Stadio Azteca and I don't think that has anything affecting visibility.

I remember near the start of the game I used Craven Cottage and when you'd score, fans waving flags would block the near touchline for the next 3-4 in game minutes.

Regarding objectives, I've finished Dembele and Buenanotte pretty easily. Just the 4 wins for M'Vila now, in Division 3. Hopefully I can grind these out tonight quickly. Dembele and Khazri up top, Carniball Ben Arfa (I knew he'd come in handy one day.... 4 months on), and FUT Birthday Meunier (incredible card), they should do the job.

The interesting thing now is EA usually update the reward packs on a Thursday to match the upcoming weekend. This is how we've known which big TOTS was coming. They've now updated this weekend and it only shows TOTW packs. Even though I should expect as much that's quite stingy. It also makes me question if to bother this weekend or not. And if not, I may well have played my last WL.

My TOTS pack was a lot less lucky though. Both goalkeepers and Dalort, making it very close to the worst possible pack. FUTBIN reckons 125k for the three. Delort would be a decent pickup in a pack only squad, however his 3*/3* and Med/Med(which is starting to bug me on Jovic a little) mean he'll likely never see any time in my team.

After feeling my luck was in I took untradeable Ultimate packs. Douglas Costa and Azpilacueta in one and TOTS Bamba in the other.

EA are currently being quizzed on their loot box mechanics, such as packs in UT amongst other things. They've claimed that they aren't loot boxes as such, merely "surprise mechanics" and they are "quite ethical." I really wish I was kidding.

Given it's essentially gambling and kids can play, I don't see how their defence holds up. Loot boxes have already been given the boot in Holland and Belgium so I'd imagine it wont be long before it goes through the EU courts. If we or the US bin loot boxes as well then they'll have to make big changes in the way the game works.

Played a game to get M'Vila done and did it in one. The 3 new red additions all play very nicely. Mendes scored with his first shot too. After that I did my TOTS guarantee and got Atal. To use the duplicate I put him into the start of Aouar and the 86 squad of Blanc.

Finished up Aouar and I've set Wijnaldum and Chiellini to sell. The latter has already sold and I wait for the former. I'd like to do Blanc before Ultimate TOTS hits as I reckon the French TOTS cards will drop a lot more regularly., but I don't think I will.

First red pick yesterday was the Mexican midfielder from the LATAM TOTS, but thankfully the 2nd pick gave me Di Maria. He feels lightning quick and nimble on the ball, but the 2* weak foot is a bit shit. I also packed TOTS Bocanegra (who has some really top stats) in the packs.

I tried to do M'Vila last night, but the gameplay felt terrible (or it was my connection acting up). So much input lag, every pass being scooped softly and intercepted by the opposition (you know the animation), and I could only win 1 in 5 games. I could have stayed up late to get it done but I genuinely couldn't be fucked with all the effort for an 88 TOTS.

I've redeemed for this weekend on the hope they will still do something special for the player picks. I also will probably do Aouar before the deadline hits - the value is just too good not to.

Mendy at right back is not something I’d considered and is an inspired idea.

Worked pretty good in my first game with him there. Nothing saying why he shouldn't. 5* weak foot is glorious on any card. He feels a lot more mobile than Da Costa, however is less able to bully someone off the ball. Him(even on 4 chem from my first game) and Sandro are the best 2 full backs I've used.

The only concern I have with the team is there's been a few weak foot downgrades up front now. The height could be an issue but I've always used similar kind of players.

I have one of those Scuf controllers (because the Dualshock really is shit) and during a match the joystick locking plastic bit snapped clean in half.

The right analog is now stupid sensitive.

I lost a game because of it (although it wasn't as sensitive as now, I think it was more mind games at it breaking) and I just scraped past a guy I was on my way to beating easily because it kept switching people and knocking the ball up on first touches.

I already had one thumbstick have the rubber peeled off (after about 5 months) but they promptly sent me some new ones.

I was using metal thumbsticks which were a bit loose and thought I'd try their official thumbsticks and they're a tighter fit so the sensitivity issue is now sorted.

They're support is damn good though. In 6 minutes they sent me a reply to my support ticket saying they'll send me some new locking rings asap.

The controllers themselves are expensive but they're so much better than the regular PS4 controllers (no idea about Xbone controllers) because they actually fit your hands rather than being way too small. The interchangeable thumbsticks are nice too as the PS4 ones are absolute horseshit.

In FIFA news the decision to sell Chiellini and not buy Alisson yet was a good one and has now saved me about 300k in coins. Both have tanked in price due to being in Ultimate TOTS. The latter is now cheaper than Ederson.

Blanc is 800k and I've done the 85 and 86 squad from those upgrade SBCs. Which knocks it down to 600k. If I put Raul in that's 300k.

David De Gea Compared to the few goalkeepers ive used, you can't really go wrong with him. At the time, I paid 140k for the card and he was solid. You can probably stick with him from game start to game end really.

Serge Aurier is by far the rest right back ive used. Da Costa TOTY, Florenzi UCL Live and Kyle Walker Gold were all good but Aurier was levels above. He felt the best on the ball and was ridiculous strong in the tackle. The High/High work rates are a massive factor in him being a great card.

Fabio Cannavaro I didn't give a fuck he was 5'9. What a fucking defender. He has one of those cards where you can spam tackle on an attacker and even if you don't win the ball the first time, he has the time, agility and balance to recover and win the second ball.

Virgin van Dijk will probably be found in every team if you have used him. Regardless of what version, he is a beast.

Marcos Alonso now has over 1000 games for me. I did his SBC in November and he has been in my team ever since. He isn't the fastest left back, but if you get within touching distance of him. He will tackle you. Got a hammer of a free-kick on him also and have scored some screamers with him.

Ngolo Kante was one of two, great red and gold gifts I received from EA. I had his gold card at the time and really liked him. 600 games with Kante. He isn't in my first team anymore, but he comes on a substitute to lock off games when I'm defending. He was worth over one million coins when I packed him. The highest value of any card ive won from packs or gifts.

Patrick Vieira I did as an SBC. I wasn't going to do him at first but it was between him and Henry. All elite teams will have him in midfield. His rarely misplaces a pass and makes about 50 tackles per game.

Kevin De Bruyne cost me 2.6m at the time. I play him as CAM and he is my biggest goal thread. Whoever I have played him behind, he has always outscored and assisted them overall. Top 3 card ive used. Any foot around the box, and it's going in the top corner.

Bernardo Silva is a magician. I'm super aggressive with him. As soon as he receives the ball, just try and take on the opponent. You will be surprised how strong he really is. I don't notice his weak foot too much as I automatically cut inside with him from RAM.

Anthony Martial I packed early and he is the only player, who had over one, goal per game ratio. Played most of his 200 games in division 3-5. No idea why he was so good from LAM. I then bought his IF and it played worse in every area. I went back to his regular gold card and he started doing numbers again. I was still learning the game at the time when I used him. Any first-time shot or headers at the back post with him flew in.

Cristano Ronaldo had 500 games and 400 goals. Wasn't the best player on the ball, but he got on the end of everything you throw at him.

Just done Aouar myself for 50k and untradeables. I really like both players he could replace - FB Firmino (could also go up front in place of of Socrates) and Lothar Matthaus but I’ve been so keen to try him since his FFS card came out and his TOTS was such a fun one for me that I couldn’t resist giving him a go. I may also by a Cavani to see if his TOTS can muscle Socrates back out of the team. Probably not, mind. Socrates is a machine for me.

9-3 so far in WL. It's a very sweaty slog so far. My 3 losses came to someone with loan TOTS Neymar. 2 of them tore me apart with him as he's so fast and 5* weak footed he can't be stopped. The 3rd guy got Marega and Zapata off the bench and used cross spam. The worst part of the last loss is the winning goal saw VVD taken out as the cross came in, his attacker still missed but the ball dropped dead on the 6 yard line after a rebound for his player to tap in.

Finally won a penalty shootout.

Played against some shit skiller who had all bounces going for him (his first goal saw him hit the bar, the bounce hit VDS's head and casually roll into an attacker's path) and I derped out and gifted him a kick off goal in extra time just after I scored.

Vieira also missed an absolute sitter (I'd have even bet on VDS finishing it) with the last kick of the game but I got rewarded.

I ended up playing on and it was going quite well. Straight up to 19-5 and 2-0 up in the next game my first mistake came. I'd forgotten to put on a fitness card so that lead was evaporated in the 2nd half. He played a through ball in the 90th to go for the win but I slid with Mendy to cut it out. Unfortunately it bobbled off his player close and rolled backwards towards R10. First time shot smashed in for his win.

The next game I found myself 2-0 down. This guy was one of those drop backers and essentially scored the same goal on me twice. A switch up into a 4-1-2-1-2 turned things in my favour but the ball just would not go in. I don't usually cry foul on this but it genuinely felt rigged against me for a while it was that bad. The most annoying thing is, I ended up losing 3-2. I got 2 quickfire goals in the mid 80's of minutes, but he scored a kick off goal after the 2nd. He then won the ball back from my kick off and held it.

I neglected WL for Friday and Saturday, and then played a bit during the day Sunday. It was torture, losing games I should have been comfortably winning, and I was 3-4 after a session. Didn't get back on until about 1am, played 3 games and found myself 4-6, losing 2 easy matches, and getting more and more wound up in the early hours of the morning.

Luckily, I turned it around, smashed through 6 wins on the trot, lost a close one before winning my final game 5-2. Managed to scrape 11-7 and Silver 1 by 4:30am. And I was in work before 8... paying for it now and I feel like a mug.

I did discover just how good TOTS Aouar is. I managed to do him this weekend for about 150k and lots of untradeables in the club - also pulled Dybala and Skriniar in one of the packs back which was nice. Aouar is just incredible on the ball and can seemingly finish whichever way he wants to. I also brought in TOTS Pizzi to try him out on the RW - he performed pretty well and has probably the best corner delivery of any player I've used.

Oh, and I pulled TOTS Tavernier from my guaranteed ROTW TOTS. Those stats look amazing and I'm going to have to try him out soon.

No WL makes it less likely that players will dip into their wallets. It will go until a week or two before 20.

I've only tried TOTS Lacazette and he's fantastic. Only striker I've liked more is Prime Eusebio who is out of that range unless you can cobble together his SBC.

Actually Lacazette even beats him for traits/specialities.

Eusebio has 9, Lacazette has 8 but they share the same bar Free kick specialist (Eusebio), Crosser (Eusebio) and Aerial Threat (Lacazette) and I'd rather have Lacazette's unique specialities.

In terms of traits Eusebio has power free kick along with CPU AI ones to Lacazette's flair.

Him and Lacazette are both midgets (5'9) but you can get Eusebio to 98 and Lacazette to 99 for jumping which cause havoc.

Its about time I put my untradeables into a big SBC. I have a team called Free FC and it is a 92 rated team that I 55 chemistry of cards I no longer use.

If you dont use the cards, cut them off if there is something better available. That being said, one of my mans refuses to play the long game and he has big SBCs card that he feels are too good to part with. He did moments Socrates being he won the draft with him and has regretted it ever since.

I got red Alisson which I reckon a good 90% of people who finish in Gold 2/1 will get, which will allow me to sell my tradeable one. I'm happy with that one but I reckon a lot of people wont be.

My other red was Sancho. I'd love to work him into my team but I also want to try Quags out. He does look amazing even without a chem style. Has 96+ in all the important shooting categories and pretty much 99 in all important passing stats.
He only has 2 drawbacks. One is his 3* weak foot but that can be worked around. The other thing is his 72 composure.

And yes that 72 composure is terrible, but it just shows they scale the cards up rather than giving each an actual upgrade. If I could have picked a different 96 I would have loved Pepe but a shame it doesn't work like that. I'd love to see a feature where you could do something like swap your 96 card for a different 96 rated player.

I've seen people firmly only getting one pick from the Ultimate TOTS in each set of 4, so it seems they turned the wick down there. I'm just glad I didn't get the same pick set over again.

They seem to have changed the rewards for the WL to TOTW packs again, which is a bummer, but it is needed. TOTW cards have risen and risen in price which is what is keeping the Icon SBC prices as high as they are.

They have stated this is the final TOTW though so what they do after remains to be seen. I'd love to play a bit into July and get that Ronaldinho I always wanted, but I think it's the point in the game where we just enjoy what we've built and shuffle towards FIFA 20.

I've used both keepers and find Alisson much better overall. Edersons kicking is far superior as his ability to charge off the line, but I do find him lacking in some shots I think should not be going in. Alisson has produced many jaw-dropping saves where I'd admitted defeat already.

Watching Nepenthez video where he opens up all of peoples red/blues from Elite and such is showing exactly how EA have kind of fixed this.

Almost every red pick set is 4 low end ROTW cards and 1 from the Ultimate team. Even then the pick is often one of the two keepers. Same again with the blue packs. After the keepers almost every player is Sarabia, Silva or Quagliarella.

Pretty much everyone who finished Elite now has a Quagliarella so don't be shocked if everyone suddenly has him.
