I've been playing TOTY Ramos on 6/7 chem since I got him pretty much and he's been excellent. Stick an Anchor on him and he's pretty much 99 in everything that matters.


Record is 17-4 now. Improvement on last week now I'm properly kicked into gear. A loss in a very close game in which Schmeichel pulled off 14 saves for him. 3 of them I was already getting ready to face kick off from. Sterling was on the end of all 3 shots as well. So I went and bought Neymar in for the final few games and he didn't score a singe goal :p
I'm not sure if I want to carry on now I'm almost at max ELO. 3-6 from here would get me the 2 x 100k packs. 6-3 would get me Elite and the TOTS pack. I just don't want to get all the way to the last game needing to win it for Elite and then miss out. It's however good to know I'm almost back to where I was skill wise.

I still maintain the best way to go about it is to remain calm. If I go 2-0 down in my 3rd game of the weekend and start getting mad because I'm already thinking about finishing in Elite or not, it's never going to go well.

This was the worst weekend I've experienced for gameplay on FUT Champions. Constant stutters, input delay, players felt so sluggish. I don't know if I was on the wrong server location but it was ultimately so frustrating.

That being said, I did manage to get myself to 11-4 last night, thought I was certain to get to 14 wins and at least get 2 red picks. I lost 5 of the next 6, and it was way too late (and I was too triggered) to continue, so I ended up a pretty shoddy 12-9. It's a real shame as some of the wins I pulled out early on were real battles.

One in particular saw me 2-0 down at half time, then down to 10 men after 55 mins. I pulled one back with Werner soon after, before I managed to bait a van Dijk lunge to give me a last minute penalty. Eusebio smashed it in to level it up, and in extra time, I played some of my best FIFA - Eusebio with some lovely dribbling before hammering in a 3rd, Werner busting through the backline and sliding it in for a 4th, before sub Pires broke through and curled it in for a 5th late on.

Then it all went to pot and I got too mad in games against good players sitting deep. Hopefully my pick Thursday is something decent to make up for it.

I was still up at 3:30am last night so thought fuck it. Went for Gold 1. My first match was an embarrassment. I went 2-0 down to goals he didn't deserve. He then tore me apart with great play to go 4-0 up. I swapped out to a 3-5-2 I've been trying and the tide turned. 4-0 became 4-1 and very quickly after 4-2. I then crossed in to Jovic just inside the box who unleashed a vicious volley but it hit the under side of the bar and stayed the wrong side of the line. His keeper caught the ball on the 68th minute.
From there he would roll it out to his CB, dink it in the air to his other CB and head it back to his keeper. Rinse, repeat. If I marked the CB he'd drop the ball at De Geas feet. If I then pressed the keeper he'd kick it to the free player. Dink, header and back to keeper. He did this until the end of the game. I have no idea how to stop this either. In any case I then won the 3 needed games and finished Gold 1. We'll see if it was worth it.

Selling Marcelo is also proving to be a bit tricky.

I got Jovic as a red and link him in with the 84 Costa from FUT Swaps a while back. The answer to your questions is yes, yes and yes. Da Costa is a little clunky going forward, but having a strong 6"2 guy with great jumping and defending is the way to go.

Jovic is the best finisher I've used on the game. He doesn't seem to smash the ball in as others do, but he seems to place it perfectly right into the top or bottom corner. 5* weak foot means he can do it from either side.
The only downside to him is his lack of 4* skills. However I use him and Firmino in a 4-4-2/3-5-2 and here is how the two compare so far:

When releasing code into production at the velocity Fifa does this is going to happen, and what’s important is what they do - rectifying when appropriate, a la Sancho etc. It’ll just be tapping the wrong set of ref data or something. You can’t QA this stuff to the N’th degree when it’s live, ongoing content (though obviously they likely tighten controls after each little cock up).

From the packs I got a walkout and out trotted De Gea for what must be the 4th time this year. Sad to see he's only 50k now. I also got a draft token in one of my other packs.
It didn't get me any new additions to my team but that has taken me to about 1.3m now with a fair few high rated players on hand.

With 4* weak foot and skill moves, he sounds like a strong card. He has awful compsure though which most of these type of cards usually have.

Onyekuru is on my bench now, him and 2POTM Vela are both great super subs to have for the wings.

That 96 Pique has been immense in my team so far. Seems to win every tackle and his interceptions are incredible. Doesn't feel particularly slow either. 3/6 towards the Gaya objective - I really want this card as he is a direct upgrade on Lucas Hernandez, who has admittedly been a great servant to my Weekend League efforts.

Picked 93 Cazorla as my red pick. Considering my current midfield 3 is 86 UEL Wass, 90 SBC Casemiro and 89 Griezmann, he could definitely slot right in. 5 star weak foot and skills are very desirable too. Only issue in the few games I've used him so far is his stamina. He can't replace Wass as the box-to-box because of this.

Picked up some good SBC fodder in the packs - 86 Boateng as my best pull, with a load of 85s/84s/83s.

I'm very tempted both by the 93 Casemiro SBC and the 95 Ramos. To do both would require 6 squads, and 8 IFs, but I have some high rated players in the club and 1.3m coins if I need to spend.

Completed the 95 Ramos SBC for the cost of an IF Kolarov and UCL Tadic (about 65k). He looks insane and I've managed to upgrade 3 of my back 4 over the past week. Headliners Carvajal is the only player who keeps his place and in come TOTS Gaya, TOTS Pique and the Ramos.

Sad to see my old players go though - they've done me well through the months and I submitted them all for Ramos. Stats were as follows:

UCL Nacho Fernandez - 233 games, 6 goals, 3 assists

I ended up buying TOTS Telles, FS Eder Militao and TOTS Alisson. Dropped Ramos to the bench. I really see what the fuss is about with the latter 2. The recovery pace is insane on Militao and he feels very good in the air. He's not quite as agile as Ramos, but he's 10 ratings lower so that can be expected.
Alisson pretty much won me a game already with 2 obscene saves late on in game 4. One was from almost point blank. I'd accepted it was going in and he got a toe to it to poke it up onto the bar.
My only complaint from those is that Alisson seems to float his kicks a lot which has put a dent in some of my fast counters started by the keeper.

Telles however seems a bit average so far. He seems quite weak which can be a problem against some of the usual OP attackers. His height however is a bonus for those crosses.

5-1 start for now, which is okay.

I'll do Modric and Marquinhos to put into Vieira's SBC, but I don't need another icon at this point so I can't be arsed with that and I'm also fucked if I'm putting however many tokens it is into the Bundesliga SBC just to pack something absolutely tragic.

How do you do these crosses he does all the time?

He does an El tornado first and then crosses it with the LB (floated) cross. You then need players in the CAM positions in your team (either in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-2-2) with a very good balance of jumping, heading strength and possibly aggression.

The CAMs pick up a better position than strikers do and the El Tornado animation fucks with the defensive position of the opposition - combine those things with the right stats as listed above and it's ludicrously overpowered.

Scooped and volleys from chipped balls also fall into the same category.

Click in the right stick whilst moving slowly with the ball and not using any left stick input, then put max power on.

There's something to do with the volleying of the cross affecting the way the defenders react to it. Especially if you have a smaller full back. It's undefendable once the cross comes in.

First game of Weekend League this morning, I come up against a guy who is pretty similar in skill. He takes a 2 goal lead, before Eusebio pulls one back on the hour. I start to dominate from this point on, and he gets two red cards in the space 10 minutes with last man challenges. He pauses 3 times, wastes time at every opportunity, before I pull level with a header from a corner with 10 minutes to go. And he instantly disconnnects. Fucking irritating to play that far, get back into the game and it all counts for nothing.

I dont come across that style too often. Once i reach about 15 wins and 5 losses in WL. I see the style for the next 7 games until im matched up with my level again. Its crazy that it has not been patched .

They've already released pitch notes saying 19 isn't being touched again and all focus is on taking our feedback into 20. In reality this was probably done some time ago.

The other thing you describe is your ELO evening out. You get given a "form" so if you are 10-5 you are +5. The game will try as best as possible to match you with someone with similar form. It will max out at +15, which is why when you had your amazing start the other week it all came crashing down, you're against the best of the best.
It's also why it is harder to start 15-0 and keep it going that it is to come from say 15-5 and win your next 5. It's not the best, but it's better than purely random matchmaking.

Just had a really fun game.

I went 3-0 down after 33 minutes but I grabbed two back almost instantly. In the second half I was all over him and Eusebio got the leveller just after 60 minutes.

Ronaldo was excellent when I originally had him. He is excellent at the one-touch finishing and headers though. He did have a goal per game ratio up to 100 games, but the goals have dried up ever since I got into division one. Hazard was never that great, to begin with. His shooting isn't that great and he wasn't the best at dribbling and holding off defenders either.

I now have the team below with a missing piece to the jigsaw. Once Ronaldo and Hazard sell. I will have an additional 1.5m. I'm open to change Witsel with TOTY Fernandinho if necessary. Headliner Son would fit perfectly to play LAM in a 4231. Maybe TOTY Laca, an Icon? I'm open to suggestions for the LAM position with 1.5m

Eriksen is your man then, but I'd suggest giving serious thought to getting Maddison on the cheap and using the coins to upgrade to a better version of Vieira or something. I play a 4321 with the LCM spot rotating between Maddison, 88 Willian, and TOTS Oscar, and Maddison isn't far off contributing to a goal a game over around a hundred appearances. He's a fucking bargain, with the best long shots I've used this year.

I don't know if it's the dipping nature of the cross that they can't read or if it's the increased speed it comes in with, but it also works if you first time volley a throw in, into the box.
A new one I've had done to me is to get out of a cut scene leading to a corner holding the button to give you the short option. Short corner, scoop and cross.

I wouldn't mind using that Donnarumma but it would mean having to bring in a strong Serie A link to him. That's basically Chiellini or Izzo.

It's made him free, minus losing the undtradeables etc. Looks a decent sub but I've stacked up a few of them now.

I also swapped in Donnarumma, to do this I've had to sell Alisson and FFS Militao. I've then brought TOTS Chiellini in and it's gained me about 100k. About 170k in the bank now.

I really would like that Mertens card, but fitting him in is a trouble. He'd probably cost more than I have to give too.

In relation the the M/M workrates on ST. Ive een using Jovic for a week now and you definatly notice it. I also used Henry who I didnt like and I put it down to his M/M. Jovic TOTY is better but you notice that he does not make those penetration runs at the defence.

Been working on the Suso objective today as I've been off from work. 8/9 so far and it's been very fun as by and large I've been able to use my main team. Subbed out Griezmann, Casemiro and Pires for TOTS Fabian, TOTS Santi and Scream Koke and pretty much every goal I score is assisted by a Spaniard.

It's also just reaffirmed how fucking good Eusebio is on this game. He is far and away the best player I've used. A couple of examples below of how his shots just seem to arrow into the corner, no matter how you take them on. They're aren't amazing strikes but he's just so consistent at doing that.

My opponent played like a twat and seemed a twat in general(note the team abbreviation), and I scored with these, my first 2 shots on target. He rage quit soon after :drool:

I decided I wanted Suso last night, but then I saw it was 9 games and not the 5 or 6 I'd imagined. Not a chance to get it done in time.

Score/assist with X player in rivals is good, but score/assist with x player and win is a serious pain in the ass. Especially up against god squads who have no interest in you doing the objective.

If you want a goalscorer then stick with Bale as he's far superior at that. However Suso is a much better playmaker and has 99 stamina to Bales 75.

I bought those packs with coins, I've got my end game team now so I'm not all that concerned about wastage.

I kind of like that EA are giving us players who maybe weren't good enough to make this TOTS. It gives them the ability to almost give whoever they want a TOTS card.

However I don't like how they have cottoned on this year and made SBCs more difficult as we've progressed. Take the newly released Depay as an example:

FUTBIN has the cost coming in at 750k. That's a little steep, but it is a quality card. This also applies to the Mertens card released. Last year we'd have seen that released a single part or 2 part SBC. Usually then you'd be able to take the high rated cards you may have had and use them to vastly reduce that cost.

This year we seem to be getting everything cut into quite a few parts, seemingly with the aim of stopping you doing that. Depay for example is a 5 parter that requires 7 TOTW cards across that along with 2 x 86 and 2 x 85 squads. Unless you have a lot of special cards saved away you're paying near full price.

Struggling this weekend for some reason. Defensively we're so much more solid (Vieira is incredible) but I'm struggling to attack.

Perhaps people see the team and then go to drop back bullshit or I'm just trying too hard.

Edit: Went down in my last two matches so went to my more attacking formation and I was carving teams apart easier. I think I'm better when I'm just trying to score one more than my opponent.

I'm assuming you know this, but just in case. Did you know your players head will move slightly towards the side you are aiming? If you're one of those who has their aim set from the power up bar through to the kick, that could be a reason you are losing.

Unfortunately not. I find changing direction at the last second the best way.


Depay is now down to 670k, whilst Mertens is 720k. If I sell my Mane now, I'll have around 600k in coins and also a few big reds left in my club. 96 Pique is still there and a 95 Trapp. I'd also be willing to part with FB Dani Alves and POTM Aubameyang. So I could do either one, just not sure which one to look at.

There is really not a lot between them when you look at the stats. I would likely go Depay due to him not being a midget.

Depay would also fit into my team with zero changes needed. He would replace 90 Mane. FUTBIN comparison shows him as being better in pretty much every single way. Significantly so in strength, passing and the shooting stats outside of pure finishing. The positive is that he has that, along with 5* skills over Manes 4. However the trade off is the 3* weak foot against Manes 4.

My love for Mertens comes from generally preferring the shorter, more technical and nimble player. Also I had him as about my only usable red back in the days of FIFA 17 when they brought the WL in. Got him in my monthly pack (https://gamerdvr.com/gamer/sniper-wolf-tp4/screenshot/8770091). Ended up being upgraded to 89 I believe and was light years ahead of the rest of my team.
I'd have to change my team up if I got him but I wouldn't care as his card is obscene.


5-1 start to my WL. I've been playing like my old self finally. Every game has seen me score 4 goals or more too. Gameplay has been good for me and it's helped. I really enjoyed the game I lost too. It ended 5-4 after some beautiful football by my opponent and me. Proper attacking, no sit back bollocks.

Initial impressions from Chiellini are positive. Very good in the tackle and in the air. However his overall speed is a bit of an issue. I've a few times found myself caught between wanting to hunt down the ball and backing off to contain. If you miss the tackle he wont get back in time.

Unfortunately if I wish to keep Donnarumma(who is excellent) on full chemistry, the only 3 options I have are him, Maldini or Cannavarro. I can't afford Maldini either. And changing this up will count me out of affording Depay.

Im thinking about cutting off Laporte and bringing back in Cannavaro. Cannavaro is a beast. Laporte is untradeable and isnt that great because I play my depth on 10 bars so he is exposed a little but

Up to 9-2 and still very much enjoying it. Another 5-4 loss against me. It was great fun and the fine margins showed. Firmino was through on goal for me and his VVD got to him just as he shot to put it onto the post. Bounced back to his player for the counter and goal for him. There were 5 mins left so the goal would have swung it either way.

Fuck it. He cost me about 500k to do but he looks loads of fun and becomes my defacto taker of all set pieces. The only question is what chem style. There's no point touching his pace.
Sniper is great but I'm wondering about Marksman for the strength bonus. An agile little bastard with 95 strength and high balance could be really good.

Up to 15-5. Absolutely humped in my last game 6-1. This guy was scoring timed finesse shots from outside the box like it was December. Before that 2 losses on pens sandwiched a win on pens.

Gameplay was slower and opponents were tougher. I ended up getting a message after the penalties win of GG, from a guy who had rage messaged me 2 weeks ago.

Depay has 8 goals and 3 assists in 9 games so far. That left foot is very hot and cold. Right foot is dreamy though. Can't quite nail his best position yet.
