Waiting until I get home to open the pack as did it on the app, probably only Zlatan walks into the team, and then I’d need another Icon to accommodate him, whilst Roussilon would give me someone to try out and, if he really impressed, maybe take the place of the impeccable Ferland Mendy. Probably the main point of redemption though was that I also picked up a TOTS in the Rare Electrum pack (naff all from the Mega Pack, mind). Only a (duplicate) 85 rated Stevens, but pretty good value to get 2 TOTS for the price of 1 after the bad fortune of the duplicate Rodri.

Key players I'm looking at before deciding anything are Robertson, Mane and Alisson. Then someone who may play as a CAM. I'll be eyeing the cost of that against the cost of an Icon.
The 3 I'm interested in are all pretty much in range. Eusebio and R10 are now 2m with Best being 1.5m.

Gray Fox was going to ask if you'd seen that. Definitely a draw to place G1 every weekend for me, though this first one is a ball ache as I'll be away from London all Saturday and some of Sunday at a wedding, so it's an ask.

I'll likely get 3 or 4 games or so in on Friday before the missus gets home, another 4 hours or so when she leaves for location on Sunday night before GOT (using a knackered knee as an excellent excuse for an extra day working from home on Mondays). If I can eek out Gold 2 from that to guarantee two picks I'll be happy. At least it's Bank Hols the weekend after so I can pull an all nighter on the Sunday night if needed to pull through the full compliment of games then. I'm targetting Ligue 1 and La Liga mainly, but could switch it up with the right TOTS pulls, especially with the three Icons affording me some flex and enough in the club and coffers to craft a Socrates and a good way towards a Eusebio.

THe difference (for me at least) is that where I was completing maybe one league a month from December or so, and not spending time grinding anywhere near as much, I’m now doing it more and more and completing several leagues a week. I’ve made plenty of coinage and a huge 2600 player club full of high rated players, IFs and TOTS so it works.

Not so sure. It only really becomes sustainable from about Feb, as you need all the league SBCs, or at least the vast majority, to really make it work. Hence why whilst I first completed a couple of leagues months back, it’s only now it’s become so rewarding. Also, there really aren’t that many doing it and doing it a huge amount. I also think EA will want to keep aspects that consumers want and engage with. This will be a positive for their PO’s and content teams.

A lot of what they do which people find unpalatable (like the primer icons SBCs being cut) was down to them trying to maintain the right balance in the economy. That specific decision happened as the value of the primers stayed too high and releasing SBCs would either massively inflate everything or if it were cheap enough, massively deflate the primers people had paid huge sums for. The league SBC grind doesn’t do either. If anything, it addresses one of the things EA first brought SBCs in to do - it gives every card some value. Every pack opened progresses things, as opposed to making pack opening a shit or bust scenario where you get rich or quick sell for pittance piece. If anything - this is right up their street.

I know what you mean regarding next year's version. Starting from fresh is the best part of the game for me, and pack-only could be good, but it could also be really stagnant at times. Only problem is that I find FIFA has completely taken over from any other gaming for me. I've got a lot of games on my shelf that haven't been touched yet because of FIFA.

From there I started playing a lot better and Pogba made it 2-1 not long after which is where the game stayed until the 92nd minute when he scored a header (after I had just missed a sitter with Rashford). Head went a bit in Extra time and he turned it around but his lack of stamina played into my hands and we got two in the second half to make it 4-3.

He was really good at moving his keeper in the second half of normal time which meant I couldn't put it away. He was also one of those that didn't use it all the time so when I would think he's about to move he wouldn't.

Yeh I’ve not enjoyed this weekend. I matched the Pro on a 4 game losing streak, and after a decent 5-1 start ended yesterday on 8-6. Maddison is delightful. He won't win a physical battle against a bin bag but he's good enough on the ball, and in his use of the ball, that it doesn't matter. He plays the way Bernardo Silva does in reality.


I hated Shearer John, which was a real shame.

I like him, I just hoped someone, you specifically, had found a way to rectify those mad runs he makes. Get him on his right foot within thirty five yards of goal and it's going in the top corner, but he seems to come short at strange times and run wide when it's the least sensible option. I have him set to run behind and stay central up front, but for some reason he moves like he has a free role.

Given how much you wanted to love Shearer, Yev, I reckon you'll have a great time with Future Star Calvert Lewin. He goes for about 65k on XB now, I think. Try him if he can fit your side.

Played a few hours in rivals last night and the number of people who quit as soon as I scored was madness. I wasn't even winning in some cases. The number of people bringing on defenders to play up front is scary also. I didn't lose a single game and my rating went from 2000 to 2200 between 8 pm and 10 pm. Quick time quits. Only played about 3 full games which are annoying.

This does make thing interesting... I'm going to try him on 7 chem RB switching to LB, as Mendy has a handy 5* WF, but he also offers an interesting option to bring in TOTY/TOTS VVD, and Flashback Firmino (replacing Suarez). He's completely annihilated me a few times this week, so it's tempting. 2 days left to decide. Not fun.

I may just do him, cash in on Suarez whilst he's still worth roughly the same as the Firmino SBC (I can do from what's in the club without ruining it) and keep Desailly at CB for now until I know what the score is with the potential Mbappe POTY SBC.

Did Firmino for the price of Cavani, Fekir and a Marquinos (84k) with the rest all in untradeables, and packed TOTS Heldon in the packs back. That means I can liquidate Mendy and Suarez (P 599; G 259; A 266) for around 800k, with both sure to get TOTS and therefore deflate in price within the next fortnight or so, it keeps me in the best place to get both Cavani and Mbappe TOTS cards. Suarez is as low as 680k right now, hoping he'll start selling again on Thursday and pick up a little in price. Either way, both he and Mendy (P 279) are going Thursday night before the new league is announced.

Looking forward to getting some games in with Bobby tomorrow night - his in games are 100+ better than Suarez, despite the -2 overall. Some of that is in defending stats, but even that's handy for me given I like my CAM to backtrack when needed.
