Alternatively there's a trade in 11 for an 86+. My disappointment with this is it's an 81 rating, but finally something to do with them.

I get it if you have 5 rated 80 and below. It's then worth the gamble and you could luck out on an 86.

I've got nine 82 and below rateds, having to put an 82 and 84 in there to make up the places. Seems like a no-brainer to see what I get. It's a choice of 3 players as a player pick too.
Most likely I'll end up with three 86's, but I'm never using those other cards for anything.

Turned in my 11 reds. My 3 pick pack contained 86 Dembele, 89 Aubameyang and 86 Bellotti which I think is pretty good considering I gave them only 1 card I had to question even slightly.
I'd usually have snapped up Aubameyang and been delighted, but having his POTM it felt like a waste. I took Dembele who looks a fantastic super-sub and could be useful in a potential La Liga requirement situation.

I also notice this doesn't have an expiration date, so I may revisit this down the line.

I forgot it was Easter holidays - 45 mile commute took 2 and a quarter hours and I only could fit 2 games in before the objective deadline. Went 1-0 up in the first after about 70 minutes from Werner, and the guy immediately quit. This meant I completed the Boateng objective, but had virtually no chance of completing the SMS one. Next game was tight, 2-2 just after half time but I think the opponent clocked that I was in a rush, and just wasted time for the hell of it. It ended 3-3 anyway but the guy was a complete cunt. Ended up 2 games short of SMS which is a bit of a sickener after wasting all my time on it.

Slight plus - the Rare Mega Pack SBC just gave me Eriksen, so I made 45k on that at least.

I find Dembele and Bale don't get involved very often in direct goals/assists, but the 4-3-3 does create lots of space for Isco and Wass to get forward into the channels, and they pick up a lot of goal contributions. I want to get Eusebio in the team; I'm not averse to changing formations, I have 800k spare to spend, and a few decent untradeables (Anderson Talisca, Can, Dani Alves, POTM Brandt) in the club. Any ideas?

It's a shame I didn't have more coins at hand at 7pm. As soon as I saw that Colombian requirement I went and bought up Cuadrado as fast as I could. Managed to only make about 30k with it, but did so in about 20 minutes which is frustrating. That's the best I've done any kind of 'trading' all year.

The new Icons are a bit meh. They're frankly insulting Moore and Laudrup with those cards and as such are 500k and below. Hernandez would have been amazing to have in November, but as such the game has caught up with this new card already. Carlos and Rivaldo look decent, but aren't the top tier but for 1.1m each it's okay I guess.
Cruyff at 3.5m is a bit of a joke to me. You're alienating 90% of your player base with that surely? Have that price and release it at the start of the game and you'd still just be getting there now.

Took me 12 rivals matches to get the FUT Swap done with Cuadrado. You can apply stat cards and bring him off the bench to make things easier(EA have also fucked up and allowed stat cards to be used in WL too).

I'd have done it much, much quicker, however, in one game I missed a penalty in the 93rd minute with Cuadrado that would have won it 3-2, in another I got a penalty in the 88th and the guy quit as soon as I put Cuadrado on it. I had another guy leave as I was through 2v1 with Raul and Cuadrado to win it and lastly, I was leading a guy 2-0 for ages having scored with Cuadrado already, he went all out attack and pulled a goal back, but then the second he pulled the other one back in about the 82nd minute he quit.

Thankfully not near as bad as needing 10 wins, but they've got another 2 sets of these to get us through. Somewhere in there I'm also 5-0 up in the WL. I've set my full-backs to play on balanced, finally releasing the shackles to see how I like it. I've got to say Marcelo is very good so far.

Rallied to win 3-2, should have been 8 really but one of the three goals was from Muriel so I can take that shitehawk out of my team now.

I feel that way about a lot of the team, it's gone through about 9 or 10 Weekend Leagues without much change. Isco and Wass both have over 200 games with 80-90 goals each.

Given I plan to just take coins from Rivals from now, I'll be looking at 80k Rank 1, which requires a lot of Div 1 rivals. 61k Rank 2, which would probably be 5 games or so more at least. 42k Rank 3 which is what I'd get for playing no extra rivals games.

If I relegated myself down to Div 4 I reckon Rank 1 wont require too many games more than just my WL games and will be a hell of a lot less stressful, I'd be getting 65k for that too.

6-4 so far in FUT Champions. Couple of losses I was outclassed, a couple I threw away. Eusebio has got 11 goals & 7 assists in the games so far, he feels very slick on the ball. Griezmann has still got 8 goals from CM, and his High/High work rates mean he does actually get back fairly well.

I miss the FUT of 09-13 for that. Saying that, I don't miss some of the mechanics. The year we all just chipped through balls to 99 pace strikers all game long was a bit much.

I think custom tactics just lets people go too far for FUT - it works much better in seasons/h2h from what I hear where there's no chem, so if you do PTB and invite teams on to you, your defenders aren't goliaths that block everything. It's great stuff for career moders too I'm sure, but I'd welcome a custom FUT tactics range that is more balanced for the game mode.

I gave in and gave drop back, 1 depth a go and it's stupid. One loss came from me just being unable to finish my dinner. I hit the bar 3 times and some goalkeeper movement at the death of extra time sent it to pens. I'm shit at them so that was that.

Then came what Merse described before. Another player using the same tactic. I scored in the first minute and then we just camped out on each other boxes when it was our turn to attack. He then scored from the second half kick off. The deadlock was finally broken in the 84th minute. I made 3 consecutive tackles on his player only for the ball to drop back to him, after the 3rd he had a simple cut back. I moved Ramos to cut it out and he auto lunged over the top of the ball. De Gea could have still saved it but took 10 years to decide to go get it and it hit him and trickled in. I still then somehow put a green timed shot from the corner of the 6 yard box completely wide of the goal.

Those 2 games make me want to believe in some kind of scripting. But I can see how effective this drop back shit is. You either have to get lucky with a cross somewhere or play some lightning build up play inside the box.

I've stopped because in my next game my opponent scored first. I struck back straight away and had him penned down all half. I managed to recycle a 47th minute corner back over and drew a penalty. The other guy quit before I could take it at 1-1 so the game effectively doesn't count.

Finally got on last night and found myself on the cusp of Rank 2, so had to play a few. However there was something wrong with either my or the server side connection. I was getting severe speed up lag which was making the game unplayable, which would then eventually disconnect me from the game but not server. So it was basically a challenge or holding the draw or trying to nab a goal until the DC hit. I'd then get awarded the points. Unfortunately D1 players are quite good at scoring against you if you have extreme lag. So this took some 15 games, most of which I'd be disconnected from in the first 10 minutes. It's ruined some players stats but I got there in the end.

Dante and Mallo as my reds, so some SBC fodder. Did get Fernandinho in my packs though, which was a nice 30k bonus. Again took the coins in Rivals, 61k of them. The only other option at Rank 2 is 1 Ultimate Pack or 2 untradeable ones. When there's no promo on there's not much point. The odds of me getting something in those packs better than 61k is low these days.

Still this means even after my spends the other day, I'm back up to 240k in the bank. I could still sell those I bought last week for no loss as well. So I'd have around 1.6m if I did.

I'm not quite in love with having Rashford as LAM and Sterling RAM. Both oddly feel much better as subs. Though at this point there's only really Mbappe or Neymar that would be massive upgrades.

The extra pace on Marcelo is amazing however his TOTY is a significantly more reliable defender. There's quite a nice trade off between the two versions. Walker is good defensively, but a bit shit going forwards.

Not sure I want to change things up but the option is nice.

I used Socrates in drafts last night and Jesus, Mary and Joseph. He is fucking amazing. Size really does count in this game. Him being 6"4 is overkill. He was so good in the CM role. His defensive stats are terrible, but it did not make any different, he was running the game offensively and defensively.

Got a 79 LM and 85 Dante as my red picks which isn't terrible I suppose. Went for untradeable packs from the Rank 1 Rivals rewards to fill out the club for some SBCs, and it was worth it overall. Packed Courtois, Marquinhos and a number of 83s and 84s. I think I will do the loan Vela, and if he plays well, I can probably complete the full version from the club.

Get a skillful winger type on the other side who can float them in and he'll score for fun.

I've found Socrates to be best coming from a central CAM/CM spot. CDM is a bit too far back for him but getting forwards, 4* skills is all you need there really. 5* weak foot is a dream although I've still noticed players with a 5* weak foot preferring the shot with the outside of their strong foot.

I find him to be a nightmare to play against as well. 6"4 and 85 strength means even VVD is going to do well to dispossess him.

Also PSA to get your FUT Swaps done. FUTBIN now has a FUT Swap tracker (https://www.futbin.com/swap-deals-tracker) and at present you can have with a 6th being awarded on Monday.
They'll reset at 7pm so get working on those tokens before hand.

Given these are the "cheap" prices for us lucky people, I'd hate to have seen the prices of the Moments versions.

My opinion of this is that they backed themselves too far into a corner. We all knew they were coming but didn't know when. As such the longer time has worn on the more people have prepared for their arrival. Because they've done that, EA like to raise prices, it leaves a problem. It's pretty much got to a point of them needing to come out now or very soon, so they've panicked a little.

I also think this is a little bit of an intentional fuck you from them to us. Claiming this is based on feedback on prices whilst doing nothing to make things(especially the upgrade Icons) cheaper is an insult. I think this is an "it's our game, stop complaining about it or we'll do this" move as well.

As such you've got 3 options now. I really don't think they'll change their mind on this so we're stuck with it.

1. You spend the rest of the cycle grinding towards the Icon(s) you want
2. Continue on to TOTS, ignoring the Icons and save your coins towards one last spending spree
3. Stop playing

My goal this year was to get Ronaldinho and this is now possible. So I'm not sure which I'll do. It definitely feels like all of the air has come out of the room with the community on this now.
I feel bad for their guys on Twitter. They clearly must have no say in these decisions but will have to defend the company in times like this.

Did either way work? None of the objectives look too enticing, but free cards are not to be sniffed at. I only need Aarons and Pukki now but I'm not sure I want to fork out on the silvers.


Annoyingly when Mane came out yesterday he was just under 300k but the Icon release has bumped that price right up near 400k. I was going to do it, but if I want Ronaldinho that seems a waste.
I'm torn on what to do though. Of what we have now, R10 or Eusebio would be my choice. After I get the base Icon, unless it's a very usable one I have roughly 2m worth towards an Icon SBC. I could be reasonably confident of getting anything in the 2-3m range.

A couple of questions for me are:

1. Is there even a point in doing either? We know TOTS cards get mega boosts and will be plentiful. Looking closer at R10, he only has 83 stamina as an example.

2. If I decide yes, do I start now? 86 rated cards and up are probably as high as they're likely to be, so any pull is likely to pay off fair chunks of the cost.

3. Do I wait for TOTS? I'd have to sell up now pretty much to get max value, but I get to see what there is on offer. Upside is that the Icons will likely be cheaper then(@Yevrah did you complete any last year in TOTS? Wondering how much cheaper they get). However this is a double edged sword as pulls will be worth much less. Once TOTS hits the only things of value will be the high rated special cards.

I had big problems with my connection the other night as well from Virgin. I'm still on the old hardware after hearing bad things about that hub. I dread the day I no longer have the option. I tried everything I could think of and nothing seemed to help. It was hell.

Just finished up my first five to start 5-0. I did loan Mané to see how he is. He'd potentially replace Sterling and compared to him, he seems just as fast. Mané is a little bulkier and does feel about as nimble, maybe a tad worse but nothing too noticable. The big upgrades here are the 4* WF and the shooting. In 231 games, Sterling has 75 goals and 85 assists for me. Mané has started with 4 goals and 5 assists in his first 5. His finish just feels that much more secure. Especially on that left foot.

I'm enjoying the team, but if I have to find criticism, it's with 3 players. The first is Rashford. I don't know why but he just feels lost as a LAM. I don't know if it's because he feels a little clunkier than the rest of my attack or what. The second is Rijkaard. He's starting to get outpaced in the game at times. Lastly is Raul. He's just hit 500 games and it does feel like an age ago I unlocked him. The game has changed since then. 10-0 now. I've been playing some good stuff so far but I've needed a cool head. Games 8 and 10 saw me go down to some extremely questionable goals. Game 10 saw me 2-0 down. This was despite hitting the post twice and having 2 cutbacks blocked despite me shooting inside the 6 yard box. Managed to claw it back to 2-2 and nabbed a goal in extra time. From there it was keep ball time.

Game 8 was the most crazy. I was 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2 down in this one. I faced an opponent who had a shoot on sight policy. 3 of his goals came from deflected shots outside the box, the 'keeper having dived already but the ball going in the other side. I went all out on the 75th minute needing one goal to level it. Now this guy could have ended the game. He should have played keep ball. However he wanted to score more and ended up giving me the ball back and a chance to score with 5 mins left. And I did. At this point his players were dead from being on what felt like constant pressure. I brought on Dembele, Werner and Mahrez in extra time and it paid off big time:

That new Romanian RM (Balunta?) is a grand supersub, as is Scream Koke now having 99 pace and 99 dribbling... Along with the 87 Son and my trusty 87 Felipe Anderson, both FUT Champs red players, and MBP Martinez I've been able to turn around a couple of games almost entirely due to their extra time contributions, including the last match which sat at 1-0 going into the 87th minute against a drop backer, the only goal being a pen I scored. He equalised, and scored from kick off in Extra Time. I pulled one back but after going all attack left myself prone and he grabbed two on the counter before ET2. Son, Koke and Anderson were all involved in the three goals (Mbappe, Son, Mbappe) that pulled it back to 5-4. As satisfying a game as any I've played in a while.

They are here to stay though. I gurnatee moments will be in the next FIFA from game start. It was a good idea, but implement weirdly. They claimed the price of the momemnts SBC would be too high, but they could control the cost of the card, by dropping the SBC to be between 50%-70% of the price of the card on the market.

Their handing of Icons has been very strange this year. First off we get the player pick of 5. A couple of decent sets of 5 and then 1 good set that had Rio and Makelele. The next set after that came out, but was very exploitable and you could essentially rinse and repeat the SBC for almost free 100k packs.
They cut that off before it got out of hand and then we started getting the individual players. Most of which we didn't want but there were some good ones, but for only 30 days.
About this time they started complaining about us being too prepared and the market "being held hostage."

We trundle along being drip fed a few more and eventually we get the moments release. Prime SBCs stop and we get these but still time limited. Then after a few days we start getting more and they fix them to have no expiration date. Now these have stopped and we're back to primes.

I didn't carry on after my 10-0 start and this is some of the reason why. There's nothing to get right now. In truth I put the Division 2 in and enjoyed that instead. I'll probably sell up and keep my coins for a bit.

One thing to note. The prices of these Icon SBCs are coming right down. R9, R10, Gullit and Eusebio etc are all 500k cheaper than the middle of last week. Do we think this drop will continue?

I'm building out some teams from each of the leagues mainly using untradeables in the expectation that they'll drop some challenges for TOTS players around playing/scoring with those league players in Singles. I'm also going to be adopting the fuck out of BPM>League SBCs through tonight into next week, continuing to prep for TOTS and build the club back up after the Vieira & Carniball splurges. I've got 400k left, with Gold 2 and D2 R1 rewards to come tomorrow and probably Gold 2 SB rewards on Monday as I've let games play out this week doing a lot of working from home.

The FUTSWAPS in forms last month and this have me at 6 high rated IF, and the club isn't too bad overall, but nowhere near what it once was, so given I'm still sharing the TV with the missus all week long until the new sofa arrives (12 fucking days) I'll be using comp app to do the BPM>SBC methods to get there.

I have some motivation this week and that's mainly because of that 86 TOTT Wass. He is a great direct upgrade for the 84 Futmas Wass I currently use. I will try and do the Henderson if I get time later this week.

I find my main motivation doesn't come personally from trying to get the best team and that's evident in the main squad I use. I comfortably have the coins to bring in Marcelo or Sergio Ramos at the back, or even a good icon but I simply don't feel the need to. I'm more driven by unlocking those objective players, building squads through my collection rather than just going out and buying my team up.

My end goal would be to maybe build 5 or 6 competitive squads from various leagues and nationalities that mainly consists of SBC players/weekly objective players/red player picks/packed players. This is probably way off what most of the FIFA community is about.

I've brought in the Future Star Calvert-Lewin to play up front and he's shit hot. 100k or so, and with a Hunter card he plays like Kane and Inzaghi somehow produced offspring and fed it HGH from birth. He doesn't have a great weak foot rating, three star, but over the fifty or so games in which I've used him I haven't noticed it as a problem. He has a terrific knack for finding a yard of space in the area and his first time finishing is almost perfect. Well worth the coins.

I don't use skill moves with my striker at all, and very rarely with anyone else on the park, so that isn't an issue for me. His weak foot was a concern when I was buying him, but he's dynamite with outside of the boot finishes and the weak foot is more than good enough to slot it under the 'keeper on those chances where you get to the ball just before he does. I'll stick it on later and find out the exact numbers, but I think he's somewhere around sixty goals in fifty games, with twenty or so assists as a cherry.

Icon prices have fallen more so in the week I've been away. R9 is now 4m with R10 being 2.1m, Eusebio being 2.2m.

That may well motivate me to get on and get those needed for the Icon. I'd be able to afford them all, bar R9.

Ten wins in rivals for Wass is a joke. I’m 5-1 and all 5 wins with LLS scorers as I’ve been winning by 4 or 5 goals and field Griezmann and Suarez so it’s not difficult, but I’m now 20 skill points from D1 and won’t get a chance to play any more games. Will be missing this weekend league as well, off to Portugal for a stag, so the club will stagnate a bit. BPM grind is paying off though. I went 150k deep but am now breaking even whilst chalking off teams left, right and centre and should have the full compliment of highest rated League SbC reward players before long, as well as sitting on 3k+ players in the club (was on 600 before the grind). That should allow me to do Prime Vieira, sell his middle card and use the profit for TOTS.

Through BPM, I’ve now reached the 200 squad fitness cards I wanted to justify getting rid of the untradeable B team via Icons sbcs. Given I’ve also got 600 player fitness cards and only apply every 2 games, that’s 600 odd games with one squad in the bank, more than I could possibly play in the next 4 months.

At one point I thought I'd fucked it by leaving it this late, but thankfully the Italian one didn't require wins as well. I have 12 tokens with just needing the squad battles one now. Then it's a case of getting the last one via SBC and it's time to open the Icon pack.

The ideal attacking full back is TOTY Marcelo.

Yeah his shooting isn't as good (especially when you look at the detailed stats) but all the other stats are in his favour plus he has an extra skill move and an extra weak foot.

Yep, TOTY Marcelo is comfortably the best attacking full back. I had the idea a while ago to replace him with FUT Birthday Salah due to the massive difference in cost, but he's not even close. He should be, but he just wasn't.

I got excited when I saw the Dutch flag as it could have been Cruyff or Gullit, but it's meh. Unfortunately his base card doesn't offer much as his passing and shooting are awful. Still, 300k saved on a potential future Icon SBC.

Oh and now is a good time to buy TOTY VVD. The bizarre decision to have his new card at 96 has caused a bit of a fire sale. You can get him for near 900k on Xbox.

Finished prime Vieira with my B team and 500k thrown in after selling my middle one. It all puts me on 870k now, and still on 2,300 players in the club.

His Prime is majestic. Scored on his debut full of interceptions, and is a lot better on the ball.
