I don't know if it's cheating to have started going through the teamsheets trying to find a notable player that played in England but also abroad but if it's not my guess is:

Spoiler in case that's going against the spirit of the game.

I bet it's someone English (Neville) who played at Newcastle (Solano, N'Zogbia) around 04/05 as that's the only years Solano and N'Zogbia overlap.

Fowler and Kewell played at Leeds around the same time I'd guess?

So it'd probably be something like Leeds 02-03, Newcastle 04-05..... Hendry played at Blackburn apparently from like 91-98.

Cudicini
Crespo
Veron
Gronkjaer
Desailly.

Probably all wrong because of fucking Campo though.

That second one's definitely fucking Carbone. Bradford, Wednesday, Inter, Parma, Boro and I think Derby. Fuck knows when he played with Rincon. Somewhere in Italy.

Boyd's is horrendous. Martin Laursen is as close as I can get. 3 from 6 I think.

Haha, sorry Mellberg

It's actually kept me up. For an age I was trying to think of Chelsea's Italians, couldn't find any with the links and got there by focusing on Real, Roma and Milan instead.

Same, led me right up the garden path. Finally cracked it with Spaniards at Milan and Italians at Madrid as Campo and Maldini didn't sit right for whatever reason.

FWIW Wim Jonk gave Carbone away big time. Only associate him with Wednesday and then Boksic led me to Italy and Lazio (thought Di Canio at first). Once Saunders was linked to Bradford it unravelled from there. Good game. Time for bed.

It is the answer, I just assumed the one who plays for A. Madrid also had a stint at Ajax. I saw the name on the team list and had no idea there were 3 professional footballers called Juanfran.

Altidore went from New York Red Bull to Villareal... then I know he was on loan at Hull but didn't play very much... (edit: he had a spell at Sunderland and...) then he went to Toronto FC.

I started thinking maybe Shaun Wright Phillips since he played at NYRB but he has nothing in common with M'boma.

Then I started thinking maybe Pires since he was at Villareal and apparently Metz with M'Boma but he never played with Ballack.

Sorry just thinking out loud

Looking at Patrick Mboma clubs, he was at Sunderland on 00/01. Going on that strong link, looking at players who were with him at the time. Only one stands out.

Claudio Reyna

Ronald De Boer - ?
Niclas Anelka - Man City
Jozy Altidore - USA
Michael Ballack - Leverkuson
Patrick Mboma - Sunderland

Edit: Checking De Boer, he also had time with Rangers. Reyna also played at Rangers too.

Got the correct player, well done. New York Red Bulls was connection for Altidore and De Boer played with Reyna at Rangers. I thought Altidore and Mboma been at Sunderland at different times would have been caused some confusion. :moop:
