Weekend League is over already for me. Came home to an Origin outage for a few hours, finally got on and first match was a disconnect, second and third were both with horrific lag and ended as losses as I literally couldn’t play the game effectively. After a while I tried again and had a little better latency, liveable against the dross at the bottom end of FUT Champs anyway, and was leading 4-0 until the 87th minute.

Fucking disconnect, full broadband drop out for the third time tonight.

Finally got a stable connection as Origin fixed their shit.

Won 5 on the bounce. The recovery is in full swing but missing games during the full outage is what will kill this weekend for me I think. Can’t imagine I’ll have the time to get to the minimum of 18 wins with Glasgow v Leinster tomorrow and then the missus on her way around. Still, at least I can bring Silver 1 monthly a bit closer. Callum Wilson is ridiculous by the way. He’s upstaging Werner, who is +7 overall quite considerably. Best 75 rated player I’ve ever used with a hawk.

Alli and Martial are proving to be worth the coins too. The former is getting a goal and assist a game at the moment and feels almost as good as last years POTM that displaced my IF de Bruyne for so long. The latter just feels brilliant. I’ve got him at LM in a 442 so he’s not going to score bagfuls for me, but he takes just about any opportunity with aplomb and his all round game is a real threat.

Hello All! Don't think I've posted on here since the last Fifa died out but good to see everyone's fully involved in Fifa 18.

I've only just picked up the game tonight so a bit behind everyone in terms of squads but looking forward to trying it out tomorrow. I hear defending has changed and people can't just let the AI do it which sounds like a bonus.

Is the new offline game mode actually worth it? I usually despise playing against the AI but if they've made it half fun I might do it to initially build a squad up with the EA club coin boosts.

Had a quick scout of FUT Bin and early signs show there's some cheap beasts knocking around. Particularly liking the look of Andre Gray, Bolasie and Zaha. Anyone tried them out?

Earlier is was passing that was the most notably fucked element, with the a button passing reduced to a trickle away from the passing player's feet, rendering it unusable. They seem to have put that back now, at the expense of shooting, with shots that would fly in previously now sailing over the bar and anything other than an easy chance being far harder to score from.

Kimmich is fucking brilliant, 2 assists and he seemed to deal with everything that came his way at the back. The 95 stamina is brilliant as well, the last 15 minutes or so he was everywhere.

I do feel that I need to take out Josef (and thus Alessandrini) who has raped me many times on 17 but he just feels so slight and seems to get lost.

I just can't create any chances against the cpu on that difficulty.

Just keep hitting short little passes (with the button to make the passer run on) until something opens up which you exploit with a through ball.

I also don't use them enough but fake shots and the berba spins work so well against the AI (and they don't learn ofc so you can keep doing them) and keeping it tight until the second half works a treat too. They'll go from normal to ultra attacking which opens up a lot more space for the counter.

5-3 in the weekends first session. Hopefullly two more wins in the hour I’ll get tomorrow leaving me 11 wins minimum in the big sesh on Sunday to reach Gold. Aiming for a return to Gold 1 this weekend though.

Brought in Vardy in place of Wilson, Rose for Shaw, Dembele for Vela, Ederson for Mignolet and upgraded Kovacic to his scream version, also packed Willian to replace Zaha and Bailly who replaced Keane. Also packed IF Guedes and Icardi who are sat in reserve, along with Scream Forster (will play in place of Ederson when in upgraded mode, which isn’t just Halloween this year as they’ve said they’ll be upgrading them a few times a year) and Bender who will replace Goretzka during the same period.

Feels like a strong couple of squads now. Next up is Mbappe to replace Bukaku (sic). Also have the Ligue 1 SBC ready to go with spares and 1700 players now inc 100+ 83+ rateds. Feeling good about where I am.

I really liked Walker a lot but now hate him since trying out SIF Kimmich.

I'm not sure what it is, I have them both on Anchor.

Probably due to the stamina, crossing and dribbling stats. I think I have Walker as stay back with nothing on Kimmich which restricts Walker as well.

Walker seems to put in a dangerous ball about 30-40% of the time but it feels closer to 90% with Kimmich.

Really hope that Walker gets an IF sharpish though so I can sell his OTW and try out the demigod IF Valencia.

Oh and only 3/4 on legendary this run :( Dropped a bollock against the shittest team 3-2, I think I was a bit too overconfident and kept trying to win the ball too quickly.

Ok so I made a FUT account for the first time ever, go through the first 2 CPU exhibition games, then try to play a seasons match (in Div 10!) with a bunch of 60-something players and immediately get matched up against a dude with mid 80's in every position. Got hammered 7-0. Obviously I fucked up along the road to get myself into this position but what exactly am I supposed to do

Now playing squad battles on world class difficulty. First game i lost but wince then, ive won game straight scoring at least three goals in all those games. I find being patient is key to scoring goals. I pass from left wing across the midfield to right wing until i see an opeining.

Won IF mahrez from rewards which i immedialty sold.

When it first came out, im 99% sure you get bonuses points. It may have been patched though as it sounds like it rewards losing on a higher difficulty somewhat.

I don’t really cross at all. I have my full backs to stay back to cover my midfield who are never in position to defend. Plus, I always play with a midget up front as I’m so much better with agile forwards with 4* skill moves. (Muriel or Gomez)

Didn't bother risking it in the end and played on professional, winning 2-1 for the 1,700 points. Just played the shittest team of the four on World Class and cuffed them 5-2 (Scream Deulofeu is going to take some beating as my favourite player in this version - now 42 in 28 games for him) to get another 1,836 points.

I'm gunning for Elite 2 this time round and I think I'm going to need to average 1,300ppg to make it, which will need a fair number of World Class difficulty wins in there and probably next to no fuck ups on the professional games.

I've got Scream Boateng in my current squad and (even boosted) I'm not a massive fan. He's so immobile, albeit I have a Hunter on him rather than a chemistry card that would actually help with that like an Engine.

Had a go on Legendary for the 4 squad battles yesterday and used Legacy defending instead, just sprinting around the pitch then holding A when in range of the opposition and won every game for something close to 10,000 points - Boring as anything, but at least I understand how people are racking up so many points now.

Apparently it's also the case that if you go in with a bronze team the opposition play to a ridiculously low level, which I presume is a manifestation of the handicap/levelling thing EA have always denied.

I think I'm done with this for a while now as it's basically a buggy/unplayable mess.

It's absolutely terrible and it's basically killed the game for me (a game that I was enjoying a lot beforehand).

Passing definitely needed to be nerfed, as shooting did when the game was first released. But unlike when they nerfed shooting they seem to have messed around with a load of other mechanics too and the game feels horrible as a result. Passing is awful (the amount of balls that dribble towards my static target as the opposition just hoover up are unreal), shooting is much worse than it was and the whole thing feels so sluggish.

As it is I'm going to soldier through and secure Elite 3 on the squad battles for the Monday rewards and then leave it there for a bit I think.

Hopefully they've seen a downturn in the number of packs bought and they'll be reverting it back asap.

How to:
use 1-3 attacking bronze players. Preferably low strength
Play on ultimate
Build up very slowly, making the AI "impatient"
Play the ball to one of your bronzes and shield the ball with them. The AI will commit a foul and usually get a yellow card.
Repeat until the AI has enough red cards for you to easily beat it.

After plunging the depths of 2-9 I managed to recover to grab my minimum 18 wins with three to spare.

The new additions really added something - Mbappe is so much quicker and better at finishing than Bakambu, and god help anyone who switches to attacking against him. He and Gameiro make a lovely pair. At the back in the same team I brought in Varane for Natcho which made a big difference. Where Bailly and Smalling in my other squad were easily the better pairing of the two, Varane and Umtiti are probably just as good in the other now and having Aba on one side and another newbie, Semedo on the other makes them a better unit altogether. I felt like this week I saw the best of a few players after expanding my game to cope with the patch. Dembele, Martial, Willian and Bakayoko have excelled this evening. Scream Kovacic remains quality even when the boost falls off, and Dele Alli scores several game clinching screamers.

Most of all though, I have game clinching subs now - Gueye and Serri have been in my club for an age, but with catalyst and engine applied respectively, they can see out games or turn them.

Patch is fine by me now.

Aiming for Reus, Lloris or De Gea, IF Ter Stegen, IF Goretzka and Kante in pretty much that order. Reus is affordable come Thursdays rewards and is the most needed immediate upgrade (for Gnabry).

is there any real reason to play with bronze or silver players? It seems such a waste to have them besides using them for SBC. There should be silver and bronze only multiplayer tournaments or a mixture of both. I see they have them in single player season, but thats it. EA set the price ranges.

There are more silvers with more than 10k, like:

EA can also change the ranges when they want. Last year they would increase the max prices of some needed for SBCs (Belgians IIRC) because they were extinct at their normal max.

Think I've finally got to grips with the patch and got my finishing mojo back. Sat comfortably in Elite 3 with all squad battles games up to date and I'm never normally that high up the rankings at this stage, so my first Elite 2 might be a possibility.

A 7,000+ point round from the 8am games this morning takes me to Elite 2, with a two and a half thousand point buffer to play with.

Needs to stay IMHO.

I’d prefer instead that it was harder to get full chem, forcing more people to think creatively and/or sacrifice chem for the team they want to use.

Oh and yeh, it’s Ultimate Team. Not ultimate set of players.

Think of anything Magic might name his Fantasy Football team and chances are there are a thousand teams called it.

Elite 2 is secured for squad battles, currently sat on 62,000 points + with two games still to play.

I'll sort those and finish off the seasons division I'm in and post the team and the stats up as improvements are needed I feel and would welcome input.

Did the entire Mexican League SBC and all of the tasty packs from the Portuguese and Turkish leagues earlier today and pulled fuck all close to that.
