Decided to have a stab at the DKT to see if I could qualify for the WL.

One attempt (well two, the first I got a DC in the first 5 minutes and it gave me a loss) and I'm in. Defensively I was a little suspect but it was fun as I kept trying to just outscore my opponent.

Greatest game was when I was demolishing some guy but I kept missing loads of chances and he went 5-3 up in the 85th minute (I had just missed a sitter because my thumb slipped) but I scored in the 87th and 90th minutes to force extra time and Kane scored a quick one to give us a 6-5 win.

Conceded a lot but most were proper fucking flukey.

Not sure how many games I'll actually play on the WL (I don't think I ever hit 40 last year bar the few that were extended) but I hope I can get some nice wins.

Played 3 games on WL thus far.

Won the first (well the guy quit when I scored one in the 7th minute) and then should have won the second. I went 2-0 up and then I started falling to shit and he got 2 back. I should have got a third right before half time but I didn't. Ended up going to extra time at 3-3 after I missed so many more chances including a penalty only to lose in the 117th minute.

Third game I was dominated to fuck with a guy who played the highest pressure game I've ever seen, it was ludicrous. I barely touched the ball in the first half, second half went better but I lost 3-1 as I just kept missing chances (although he did too tbh).

The other player being a silver (73). I bought about 15 of each player. Pablo Maffeo is the only RB for Girona. They played a 532 with wingbacks. He may raise a lot if a RWB is required and you need him 100%. Also purchase IF Nacho Fernandez as it may be slightly cheaper to use his IF instead of buying the high rated goal real madrid cards and position changes. Its a gamble though.

I’ve finished the Bundesliga, have all but the last few Real Madrid’s sewn up for Liga Santander and about 40 odd players left for the EPL. Hence, I’m rather hoping we get Bundesliga.

I've seemingly parked my original team and gone balls deep into the new one.

Trying to avoid players I've used before unless I pack them and they fit and I've ended up with a Premier League team. Been trading players and bronze packing it and am now on 200k of coins.

One thing that has dawned on me is that the (better) players don't make anywhere near as much difference as I thought they did. I was an Elite 1 Squad Battles player with the super team I had and I'm on course to be the same with this sub-20k one so far this week.

In part because there've been so many Silver and electrum packs through SBCs and daily challenges. People save the ones that aren’t going for 500+ and then use them. They tend to sell the golds for 500+ right away.

Waiting for upgrades? Current players don't get upgraded, they just release new ones.

I did. I have played so few games lately that I am still using Van Basten loan along with him up top. MVB has 18 in 14 and Shearer has 16 in 14. I dont regret doing him at all. I also love the flexibility that an icon offers for Chem.

He says it works for players who play slower, which is why I think I like it. Between my two teams my three front men are Lewandowski, Shearer and Van Basten. I am not exactly pace abusing!

The normally announce the morning after. FIF Bailey will be a stretch actually.

Basically, the way the upgrades work is that if the base card has a stat boosted beyond that of the Special card, then the special card is boosted to the same stat value as the new upgraded base (eg if base has 79 finishing boosted to 89 and the special card had 85, then the special gets a +4 boost to bring it up to the new boosted base card).

There’s such a big difference between a base and anything from TIF upwards that there’s often no increase to the special card. SIF and POTM Salah are in danger with this, what with having +7 and +5 OVR respectively.

Should add to that - some of the biggest differences last year during the refresh were the WF and SM upgrades. Lacazette getting a boosted WF and Dembele getting both boosted to 5* made a huge impact.

Salah or Sterling getting a 3* WF would be massive.

Weekend League having an extra day added is great. I have today off so have spent a couple of hours finishing off my games. After a poor Friday where I went 5-6, I won 15 or my next 18 games to get to 20 wins with 10 remaining but have now hit a slump, with three successive defeats to full icon teams. Still, should get the last win needed for the Gold 2 target shortly and will likely put my pad down then as I can’t see myself going 5-2 needed to hit Gold 1.

Forgot to mention, when the league SBC wasnt realesed last friday. IF nacho fernadrez went down to 35k. I then bought 300k more of him. If the predicitons are correct, he will be an option that is 100% needed if real madrid require an 86 rated team in the league SBC.

I had to tweak my tactics to compete. I noticed the AI press like crazy now from the first whistle. I now play much deeper and increased the crossing from 40 to 60. It feels a little bit more balanced now.

The only used to press like this late in games when they are losing. Now its as soon as they kick off. Its rough. Lots of misplaced passes from my players who dont have very good passing stats. The ping-pong pinball on the edge of my box now, is ten times more aggressive.

Has anyone else tested the game-play because im now 100% convinced it is now different. I rarely go out of my way to do the daily/weekly challenges but when i feel like doing them i play single player season on the lowest difficulty. Usually i can do whatever is required and just drop the pad while my player has the ball. The AI is too stupid to tackle him. Now, if you go idle. Your player gets closed down and tackled within 5 seconds. Thais never happened before. You could be your own GK in the opposition box, and put your controller down. The AI would never attempt to tackle you. Now they do on the lowest difficulty.

Either the Xbox and PS UI’s are different or your not doing it right.

If you put a concept player in and then sign him, as long as you either buy directly from the squad screen (selecting the concept player then find on transfer market) or if buying from the transfer market / targets you make sure to assign him to the club individually as opposed to sending several at once, then the bought card will replace the concept card.

Yeah that's right. The version of the special player. Usually there are not many versions of most special cards, so figuring out a price usually does not take too long, but it still should be easier. Give me each players rating in the dropdown menu when you type his name in.

You're misunderstanding the system. The value refers to the cost of doing to the SBC compared to the cost of the pack you get for doing it. There's no way they could build a system based on the randomly generated contents.

34k i paid for him within the first 30 days of FIFA being out. Mostly played him at CAM and he has been a beast. His long shots are unstoppable. He can defend well also. You can get a good enough prem side for dirt cheap now.

Begovic, Matip, Bakayoko and Jesus is about 10k. Will sort your spine out no end.

Throw in players like Son, Matic, and Mahrez who are under 2k and you will have a squad good enough for SB's in no time.

Has anyone used Jesus? I find him to never be where I need him as the focal point of the attack. He gets loads of assists, but not goals. I assume it's because of his H/H workrates, but am I doing something wrong?

I found this with most strikers this year using 4321, and came to the conclusion the H/H was a part of it. Lacazette was getting 2 assists to every goal, the latter of which he had a 2:1 games to goals ratio.

Henry is around 1 goal and 1 assist a game. That might be just due to the quality of the card, but I can’t help but think the M/M rates are a part of it. Particularly as the quality of defenders he’s up against has stepped up beyond what my other strikers hadn’t to face, as well the defensive competence of my human opposition.

Although the quality of him probably negates the work rates.

I did the Larsson and the Desailly loans. The latter is a rock, the former goes missing a lot and doesn't impact games. I don't need a striker anyway but figured he was worth a look. I am almost done with Inzaghi, he will get rolled into Bobby C.

Irish golds binning for 1.2-1.5k in preparation for St Pat's. Last years SBC rewards were grand for me.

I have a fair few already and have been keeping a few duplicates on the list since January, picked up another 10 golds for 12k and a fuckload of bronze League of Ireland players at discard for another 10k as they were in requirements last year. I've got 30 Irish duplicates alone in the list and pretty much every Irish player in the game in the club so I'm well prepared.

It's got to that time of year where the standard of teams means cutting down from two sides to one and using fitness cards. I particularly need an upgrade at centre half.

Kante is a weak link now, offering little going forward and clearly not as good as Rijkaard. Bailly isn't the best and Azpi is a bit weak. Valencia's weak foot is an issue but he does have a lot of upside. Pogba is quality but not measuring up to Goretzka and Mooy.

What I know for certain is that I 100% want Goretzka, Rijkaard and Henry in any team. Goretzka means keeping Boateng and that means keeping Alaba and it makes sense to keep Sane on that basis. Plus, with his +1 upgrade, that POTM card is ridiculously effective. Ramos has been a standout as well, so he can stay, but I'm not sold on Spanish right backs or CMs so I'll need plenty of other links for him. I'd prefer to stick with a keeper with the save with legs trait, and Mbappe is sure to get an upgrade and thus edges out Sterling. Both Mbappes TOTGS and Boatengs IF remain in my sights too. I'd love to keep Mooy, as he's as influential a midfielder as I've had aside from Goretzka, but Australian Huddersfield players aren't the easiest to incorporate, hence why he's so cheap. Herrerra isn't far off.

Options... I'm struggling here...

With only two new players this feels a bit boring. Neuer could fit in as opposed to Ruffier, but the latter has the aforementioned Saves with Legs that is pretty OP. Desailly is ridiculous though.

Modric looks great, Ramos has been fine and is obviously a high class CB even on his NIF, and Vrsalko's first IF was really good for me. It's probably the most balanced. Ter Stegen also has the saves with legs trait and could be upgraded.

I went for the same. Unfortunately I've overspent on it too and now have just NIF Ter Stegen between the sticks. I started dismantling the teams knowing I might just have enough to grab SIF Vrsaljko, TOTY Modric and IF Ter Stegen (not the 65k extra TOTGS version I was aiming to get in for the weekend after I grab my rewards packs and 45k on Thursday night... Anyway, Vrsaljko was 45k and Modric was 1.075m at that stage, 1.12m total. I bought Vrsalkjo right away, but accidentally grabbed the first IF, and ended up having to sell at a 15k loss (selling for 35k and picking up the SIF for 50k) Meanwhile, I was around 50k short of grabbing on of two Modric's on the market for 1.075m and ended up paying 1.1m for him. So, had I not bought Vrsalkjo and instead grabbed Modric as soon as I could have I'd have preserved 35k on him, which with the 15k lost on Vrsajlko meant I was 30k short of the IF Ter Stegen. Brilliant.

Oh well. Not as bad as when I accidentally traded Boateng and Neuer in for a Gold Players Pack in an MM SBC last year.

Modric has 4 goals in 3 games, all in the Daily Knockout. He's fucking superb.
