Another 4 good wins on Professional and I'm back into Elite 3. Only by 1,000 points, so I won't be there come the next update at 5 (I think I'll be about 2,000 points off), but it's very definitely game on.

Hardest of the last 4 games was against Class on Grass. Fellaini was a right pain in the arse to play against (he's like a fucking brick wall), they had Daniel Sturridge (who is always going to score against me) and they brought on Henry and Bale. Managed to hold on for a 3-2 win though.

Weak links are definitely Digne, Semedo and most of the Russian second team midfield, but things are ticking along nicely at the moment so I'd rather wait until there's a market crash before spunking the coins.

It was a sad moment when it dawned on me that the Spanish team was better than the Boraslegend Russian one as that meant fewer games for Promes and Smolov.

I still haven't quite made my mind up whether to go with Zaza or Ben Yedder. I only bought the former as an IF investment, but it's very useful having a striker who can win headers from Rico punting it upfield.

Just done the latest 4 games and my finishing's gone to shit too. Think it's down to the games now (having played 12 squad battles today) feeling like a real slog.

Managed to win them all, but a couple were very close and low scoring. Just crept over the 30,000 points mark, to put me 2,500 ahead of Gold 1, but 5,000 behind Elite 2. If I don't get Elite 3 from here, particularly after last week's shambles, I'll be annoyed.

Glad I don't have to play another game until tomorrow, albeit annoying that I have to at least log in and refresh opponents between 1am and 9am to avoid losing 4 of tomorrow's 12 available games.

I’m not even bothering with Pro. I don’t enjoy games vs the CPU at all and SBs are just a means to an end right now - still waiting on fibre activation so still pretty horrible playing online most of the time, so beating up the CPU on amateur for 10 in-game kind then passing to my gk to hold the ball for the next 80 mins whilst I do other things is all I’m doing. It makes me 1.5k with my coin boosts still yet to run out, and 700 odd SB points per game. Should hit Gold 1 whilst having done very little for only 2 of this weeks days.

Coupled with working from home 3 days a week, SB’s should be a profitable wee sideline for me once I get back to D1 and WL with the fibre.

I’m just grinding. As an old RPG player (offline only mins) who can deal with a grind as long as I can shortcut/do other things, I’m happy enough. Because it’s so easy to score 5 goals straight from kick off on amateur and the AI doesn’t bother winning the ball in your half, for 10 of the 12 minute games I’m just sat playing FM, watching something, reading, chilling with the missus... not difficult at all for me.

Just itching to get going with the high level divisions and FUT Champs. From November onwards last year all I did was complete a season in D1 (or win promotion from D2 when I dropped down) during the week then play for Gold 1 at the weekend. That’s all I’m really interested in doing gameplay-wise. These SB’s will only ever be a grinding thing for me.

Will post my squads up soon, but more importantly now have 500 odd players, 100’s of contracts, plenty of fitness and some OTW and TOTW in reserve. Will be hoarding a lot this year right from the start for SBCs and weird WL requirements.

I'll be sticking on Professional and below as its unbelievably jarring how much bullshit occurs beyond those levels. I'm sure those who've played every iteration and know how to counter such are fine with it, but coming as a fresh pair of eyes who'd barely touched the series for many, many years, the fact your AI controlled team mates are literal fucking imbeciles whilst the AI controlled opposition steamrolls your players like a tank unit is, essentially, fuck that noise. The amount of goal mouth scrambles I have where my players just stand there, or run the fuck away is insane, and that's at both ends of the pitch. Whack it on World Class and their 50 STR winger is bullying my 79 STR FB like he's a small child. Defending better now, definitely, but relying on any player you don't control is an absolute crapshoot, and I'm finding the right stick switching to be fairly hopeless.

Pro is my level for a challenge, Semi-Pro if I want an end to end game. Very happy sticking there, and won't be heading online.

Yup, above Pro it feels my players suddenly loose accuracy, control and all round ability whilst lower gold AI players touch Messi levels at points. Its a false difficulty, really, and pretty much the one thing I hate most in videogames. I mean, I'm shit, not saying I should be battering the opposition at those levels, but when its so clearly obvious it jars. See super keeper and 7 shots hitting the woodwork as you score none in FM.

They gain massively when needed for SBC’s though. Take Toulouse silvers - they sold for 15-20k for most of last year due to them being needed in the Lacazette SBC. Similarly, all 82+ players go up massively when required. I’ve just bought a shitload of Silvers from the top leagues and a large number of top league 81-85s to hoard. Either I’ll do the SBCs I’d otherwise not have afforded, or ill sell them off when the SBCs land that I’ve opted not to go for. That’s how I had two full squads of TOTS players by the end of last year.

Ventured online today as lag wasn’t bad. Qualified for the weekend league very easily at first attempt, which was nice and won D10.

Just be aware it's a waiting game and not everyone pays off. As long as you're buying cheaply, the worst that can happen is you makes some small losses and the odd big gain. I intend to focus on the La Liga and Bundesliga players as EA appear to continuing last year's trend of releasing the full league SBC's for the top scorers in the league that are still playing there. Last year it was Suarez and Lewandowski for those leagues, this year it'll be Aubameyang and Messi. Which would be fucking ridiculous as they're also upgraded. So, I'll likely not s

The value is found in teams where Silvers are unavoidable - Toulouse needed 5 or 6 of the fuckers, hence they were valuable. So many Gold packs are opened that whilst their value goes up a little, it's not enough, and Bronze pack method is a big thing, so again there are more Bronzes on the market. I'd suggest the likes of Augsburg who will need multiple silvers will be a good investment. Even more so in positions where there aren't many options (like if they have only 2 strikers in their players pool, or only 1 winger on the left or right).

Bakambu (HWK) is absolutely deadly. Gameiro feels a lot like last years Aguero, save for a wee bit of the 'jinking' quality of the latter. His movement is great and his acceleration pulls him right away from defenders with ease. Would also recommend Werner highly and Wilson might be about as good a <2k striker as it's possible to buy.

Of the defenders I've been using, Clyne and Umtiti stand out as players I'll likely keep in the team longer-term.

Germany and Italy are both good fun and you could put together terrific sides in each with that scratch, so I'd say noodle around on one of the website squad builders and see which has most players that interest you.

I'd put the French league into consideration too. I had great fun there towards the end of last year. I've used Lemar, Ben Arfa, and Cavani this year, all of whom have been excellent. Lemar was so good as a loan player that I paid 9k for him at a time when I had 30k to spend and no other Frenchmen.

That’s why I’m stockpiling ESP1 and GER1 players - I’ll want those players. I’m also selling a lot too, but am up to around 900 now and have another 400 odd Bundesliga and La Liga players to go. Marquee Matchups got me a lot of IFs and walkouts last year too so I need to be prepared for them. This weeks cost me just 10k as I had everything except an extra Melbourne player, I made the 10k back selling duplicates and consumables and pulled some good players which if sold would net another 60k but again, I’ll hold on. Worked well with the Liga Nos silvers I kept - only 5 or 6 but made me 20k.

Im currently playing on professional difficulty in Gold 3. Is there a cap on how high i can rank up or do i have to increase the difficulty in order to get to the elite levels?

You can hit Elite 3 on Professional but you need to play every single game (you can't miss a squad update) and, more than likely, win them 5-0.

I play about 80-90% of my games on professional. I make sure to do all the shit teams on legendary (those with like 76 rating and 70 chem or something) as they're piss easy.

Weekend league started badly with me at 5-9 after the first session last night, recovering to 8-10 by the this morning and then a 16-17 with 7 games to go. The upward trend as I got back up to speed left me confident of hitting the minimum target of 18 wins for Gold 3 and automatic qualification to next weekend, but a 5 game losing streak has potentially killed that. I’ve been playing pissed off after a couple of penalty losses and being ahead in almost all of the games I’ve played today, wth losses coming after 2 and 3 goal leads were surrendered to all our attack onslaughts. Given I’ve only played two seasons and a single DKT this year I should be less disheartened, particularly as I’m surrendering about 3 or 4 on team rating to my opposition too but I really can’t hekp but feel bereft at the thought of finishing Silver 1 as the rewards just don’t stack up to almost 20 hours of FIFA in 2 days.

I'm starting to find legendary easier than World Class and, at times, professional.

I got caned on World Class but I won three on legendary in my last 2 squad updates 5-0, 5-1 (I went 5-0 up before half time) and 2-1.

With professional I find myself desperate to win the ball back right away because I'm better which leaves loads of openings in the back and I always seem to get superkeepered. I won 4-1 in my last match but Karius made about 6 world class saves, then I conceded. Luckily I got one back right after (It was the 70th minute or something) and then they went more attacking so I had more space.

I may have a chance of keeping up with FUT Champs and maintaining a relationship if I can cram more games when working from home days on Monday as well as on Fridays. Sat/Sun are pretty difficult since we generally want to go out to markets and such like.

Took a gamble on Kaizer Chiefs v Orlando or the Wien derby being in the MM's. It didn't bare out, so I may have lost 10k. Unless the Wien derby lands next week (i's repeated in the cup). Have also invested in Hearts v Hibs and Poznan v Wislew. Pretty much all of the other candidates are covered for me, and I'll likely sell surplus on the hype at a good value rather than holding out for the release of the SBC's and either benefitting from the insane pricing or making losses as with today.

Fucking terrible packs again. No luck at all this year.

No, just to extend it to 4 days. They listened last year when it was originally 2 days and they pushed it out to 3. It regularly runs to 4 anyway due to being extended but as it’s already underway (normally Sunday) by the time it’s announced, the benefit is pretty moot.

Decent start to the squad battles this time round. Won all my games on pro and won 2 of the three I've played on World Class to take me to 10,984 points, just under 1,000 off Elite 3 before the 1am update tonight.

Whenever you're selling something based on the TOTW you want to sell as soon as possible after EA announce the TOTW at 3pm.

Before 3pm you've just got hype (another good time to sell) and after you've got LOADS of people trying to sell their item.

You want to sell as close to the announcement because you're still getting HYPE prices and it's less likely that a huge swarm of undercutting will happen.

Fellaini was 5.4k at around 3pm when he was in the TOTW. At about 4:30/5 he was at 4k at best.

This. I have an alarm set for Tuesday 3pm to take advantage of the Marquee Matchup hype.

Made 10k profit on 3 Icardi's I picked up at 2k early on each this week. Will buy a few more once the value drops again as he's bound to get another IF and any 84-rated player has value in SBC's. Expecting some 83 and 84 rated squad SBC' for Halloween in particular.

I was scraping Gold 1 at the time, but am down to Silver 1 today today before playing my games tbf. Also, remember I got 1500 from the Lacazette game. Could be a console difference as well - you're on PS right? PS has always had a bigger participation in single player tournys and less of a turn out in FUT Champs (judging purely on Reddit posts).

No point in buying expensive strikers when Luis Muriel costs £1k<. He does absolutely everything - the 80 strength is just a huge bonus. Having great fun with him, Asensio and Ben Yedder at the minute.

I’ve re-prioritised with the expected dates for the league SBCs in mind. So far they’re sticking with the same order as last year, so I’m expecting Ligue 1 to be the first of the desirable leagues. That had a lot of slivers in it,which could get pricey but also a lot of the 83+ players are still quite cheap, so it’s worth doing it now. I’m about 50% of the way through the stock pile but am out of cash, so the FUT Champs rewards tonight are eagerly anticipated.

Will be interesting to put myself vs someone that tackles higher levels in single player, which I’m awful at whilst being a Gold 1/Div 1 standard usually in multiplayer.
