Have you found anything not playable on it? How much of an issue are games that are "playable" bit not fully compatible on the steam deck compatibility rating thing?

No dock, I have a 64gb model and just use SD cards. My mate got a 64gb and swapped in a 1tb ssd, reckoned it was simple enough.

The only game I have had an issue with really is Pacific Drive, whenever there was too much happening at once it became unplayable and frustrating trying to drive through a disaster whilst the game lagged and frames dropped to 1fps. May have been able to tweak that but never bothered.

Verified system is a bit of a joke, it can run pretty much anything but will obviously struggle with brand new AAA releases and also due to linux cant run anything with anti-cheat software (fifa, cod etc) unless you make it dual boot windows. They are a game changer though, I had to go for a hopsital appointment the day the world IT melted and knew it was going to be a few hours wait, took my Steam Deck with me and just happily ate up the time on Hades 2. The other thing is the battery life pbviously suffers the more resource heavy the game is so if you want to play something beefy don't expect more than 2 hours unplugged. Apparently the battery is better on the newer OLED models.

Heard about this last night and finished it in one sitting today. There won't/can't be a console port as its heavily reliant on M&K.

You're an FDI, aka FBI, operator, first day on the job. Your role is to receive evidence and info direct from agents handling cases, and find clues and stuff to further their investigations. You have a number of tools and databases, and while the 'puzzles' aren't too hard, they're fun.

All this happens whilst a hacker named HAL is targeting the FDI, and things take a darker turn as it goes on.

Very solid voice acting and writing, unique, fun mechanics, twists and turns, literally three to four hours long. An absolute banger all told.

As the FIFA/FC cycle comes to an end I've been looking about for what next and been catching up on other stuff thats been going on.

It seems a small team had made a COD:MW2(the OG one) multiplayer remaster. They did it by building it on top of the COD4 remaster that came out a little while back, then balancing it to get rid of some of the big issues from the OG game. Then just as they've shown off footage and had it ready to release, Activision have slapped them with a cease and desist.
I'm assuming there's some legal stuff preventing an MW2 remaster ever happening, or else surely they'd be on it? Biggest tap-in ever.

I also still own Helldivers 2. Stopped playing towards the start of May because they got into this annoying habit of nerfing guns if a lot of people used them. Made more annoying by having to unlock something, using in-game credits you grind for. Quite often they'd release a new warbond track(essentially a monthly season pass). It costs, but you can earn the currency in-game by playing. You then unlock things as you go along the tracker. There's usually 2/3 weapons in each one and one actual good one. Then a week or two later they nerf it because too many are using it.

So many complained that the CEO promoted someone else to his job and then put himself into the team. Still sounds like the same issues plague it though.

Spent the weekend updating outdated emus and sorting games for PS3 and 360 emu. 360 emu is a madness,, running everything at unlocked fps, 1440p. Look and play amazing, was hammering some Gears 3 and Forza Horizon 2 yesterday.

Closing in on finishing San Andreas Definitive Edition. Definitely the roughest of the three. Draw distance is pretty far but then you get stuff in your immediate vision popping into existence. Plus there's some weird jutting rocks that spawn on road textures. No collision to them but it looks naff. I had one mission break on me but there's a fix for it.

The big positive here is it doesnt have the annoying trend of a lesser chip/RAM in the smaller one. The only difference between the two is size. Looks like a bump in build quality too based on the renders. Hopefully once it's in hands it is as good as it looks.

Fuck me this is still incredibly impressive. Yes there's a little bit of jank (interacting primarily) but the world is still fucking phenomenal. Many games since have had larger worlds, more beautiful worlds, but bar RDR2, I don't think anything has felt this alive. I know there are dislikers of the script but I still think its wonderfully seedy and horrid and hilarious. Not played it since launch way back on the 360, but its an absolute fucking blast still. I've forgotten basically all the plot and missions so it feels fresh and new. Got me double pumped for GTAVI now. Sometimes ya forget just how brilliant they can be.

I certainly phrased that wrong. The jet pack stuff turned me away from COD for many years, Warzone brought me back (mostly because of friend group). I had played quite a bit of Blackout, some H1Z1, and some Fortnite before playing a LOT of PUBG on PS.

It's very fun and the gunplay is great I feel. I'm a lowly level but the weapons all have had different feels so far. Killstreaks seem a bit meh still, but getting one is more difficult. The only criticism I really have is map design. For some reason every one is tiny and almost an unimaginative square. They've also slapped the Nuketown 24/7 button early this year to quiet the rabble on the maps.

The amount of attachments, skins, emblems, charms etc makes sure there's plenty to do. I think each gun comes with 9 or 10 possible attachments, but you can only choose 5 of them, so it seems like you can set yourself up loadouts for different game modes.

I've not played a twitch shooter in 12 years and it really shows early on. Hopefully my thumbs come back to me.

All of the FEAR games are going for the price of a pint on Steam. I've picked them up mainly to finish the first one. The AI is so fun to work against.

I've also decided to watch a longplay of Kane and Lynch: Dead Men. Partly because I wanted to refresh my memory on that game. I had it when it released but bounced off it after the bank heist. I struggle to think of other games where you play as an irredeemable piece of shit. Lynch is a piece of shit. What they attempt to do in that game makes them bigger pieces of shit. I need to see how far that goes but not enough to play it again. I do love how it's a relentless shootout, though. Very little downtime and it always keeps moving like it's one long disaster of a weekend.

So my played jokers look pretty different.

Been trying the flush strat since last night and I seem to get to ante 4 before it falls to shit because I just haven't managed to get a good enough joker setup. I should probably try using rerolls in the shop more.

The shop is the single most important aspect of the game, tbf. Absolutely stack planets and tarot cards too. Use them, use them lots. Make sure ante 1 through 3 is +mult and chips, by ante 4 onwards you should have at the very least one good xmult.

I basically know my build within the first ante by now, although I'm 400 hours in, all challenges completed, so you start to spot what the game is giving you.

If you're into it though try and drop the guide, there are thousands of way to win and following one or two ideals rigorously is madness. It almost ruined Binding of Isaac for me. I've won with hands from a high card 2 all the way through to royal flushes. Game is easily GOTY. I think its ante 30 or something is my highest run.

For those who don’t know the game came out in 2005 and then an expansion called The Burning Crusade in 2007 and then more and more after that. In 2019 they relaunched the original game, despite their still being a current iteration of the game - albeit massively different and now referred to as Retail. Anyway, the Classic relaunch was a huge success which progressed on into the fourth expansion that originally came out in 2010 and some people still play that.

However there’s also an option to play the original version without expansions, which many do. They’re opening three completely fresh servers that replicate the 2019 initial release, before any expansions and before any in-game content (ie raid dungeons) was available - one that allows PVP killing, one that doesn’t (PvE) and a hardcore (dead forever).

So WoW players have the option to play *deep breath* Retail, Classic Cataclysm, Classic Era (no expansions) PVP, Classic Era PVE, Classic Season of Discovery (some remixed version of Classic I’ve never touched), Classic Hardcore, Fresh Classic PVE, Fresh Classic PVP, and Fresh Classic Hardcore. :baz:

While it’s nice to have so many options, it completely splits the player base. Took me ages to finally beat purple stake on red deck and it barely took me any time to defeat orange deck.

The orange deck game was pretty nutty with my joker set up. Hanging Chad with Wee Joker fairly early, I then got ceremonial dagger which I kept feeding shit too (plus accidentally a Lucky Cat) and The Trio. Had the Wee Joker up to 1000 chips by the boss blind in ante 8 with dagger up to around 60 mult. Cleared it with one four of a kind.

Really fun seed.

I may regret asking, but what do you actually do in WoW?Quests.

You get quests off NPCs in one area to kill things and collect stuff in that area, then when you’re a higher level you get quests to move to another area. Rinse and repeat. You can either do these quests on your own, or team up with upto 4 other players at a time. Every so often you collect a bunch of quests to do in dungeons where you must go in a group of 5 (1 tank, 1 healer, 3 DPS is the usual setup) to beat all the bosses in the dungeon and collect phat loot.

Then when you’re level 60 you do raids, which are 40-man (as opposed to 5-man) dungeons, where the bosses have specific mechanics you need to know to beat them (rather than just nuke them with damage like in the smaller dungeons) and you can get epic phat loot.

New World of Warcraft (known online as Retail) is rubbish (imo) but Classic WoW is the greatest game ever made and will never be topped. The Reid summed it up yesterday in a text:

After I did Gold Stake on the base deck I started just playing to unlock everything I hadn't. Managed to unlock most but I was still missing have $400, win in 12 rounds or fewer and $100m in one hand. Decided to focus on the last and I had been playing a lot of Plasma deck but I wasn't doing so well.

Was really struggling with the shift from chips to xMult in the mid-game but it finally clicked:

Regenerators suck.

That leaves 0 and 5 as my unfinished Resident Evils. I'm in no rush to go near them yet.

Speaking of Civ, I decided to boot up Civ 6 last week to try and get into it (I had tried 2 or 3 times before) and I'm into it pretty hard.

Played a lot since that day and have pre-ordered Civ 7.

I'm not good at the game, I lost my first game on Prince against Australia. This was annoying as fuck as they pissed me off early and I kept trying to wipe them off the map, I was also just a few turns away from finally having nukes to take them out.

Second game I decided to knock it down to Chieftain as I realised that I didn't know how to win the first game (outside of domination) and was just playing the game for fun. Game randomly gave me Australia so I re-rolled and it gave me Poland and I won with a religious victory which was fun.

Yeah, the vast number of win conditions is nice so you don't end up following the same path each time. I'm rarely a warmonger, but in my first game back, I was spinning wars like plates :D. Ethiopians settled a city a few turns before I did just where I wanted one so I besieged it for yonks.

I've not got the time or patience (or probably the hardware, tbh) to get Civ6 going, so I'm going to stick with 5 (have installed the big community patch and balance fixes). One thing that has always bugged me a bit about Civ5 is that so few cities, if any, ever get founded inland. The vast majority are coastal, and I find myself gravitating towards that way of playing.

Maybe I'll try a pangaea map next time. Also, by about the two hour mark, I'm barely actually thinking about what I'm doing. New research? Just click anything. New production? Just click anything. I get singularly focused on certain objectives that I barely scratch the surface of the game.

I think I probs need to up the difficulty a notch too. Think I've generally always played on Warlord, but it's probs time to go with Prince.

Decent deal on PS+ membership right now. Sony have discounted the Extra and Premium tiers to £75 and £78 respectively. You can also get a £70 top up for around £60 from ShopTo/CD Keys. So all in you can get the top tier for £68 which they list as for £120 for a year.

Tried a Domination victory in Civ 6 as I was given the Scythians.

I was on a continent with Alexander the Great and the Spanish. I quickly took out the Spanish as they never settled a second city and it didn't take long to bump out Alexander after that.

From there it was slow as Germany, Australia and Poland were on another continent and by the time I was able to get over there my units were outdated. I did manage to take Poland's OG capital so I only need Australia and Germany but they were too strong.

I also lost sight of what other nations were doing (I knew Poland had converted all Civs to her religion bar mine but she wasn't sending over many religious units, until she did) and I thought my real competition was Germany as they were close to science. In the end me losing track of what Poland were doing fucked me and they converted.

I did manage to build nukes but I was still quite far from being able to deploy them :(

I have pre-ordered Civ 7 so this is probably it for me on 6.

Inscryption is completed and I'm lost for words. Every moment of that game will stay with me for years to come. I didn't enjoy all of it, some of it was convoluted/clunky and yet every second of it will be burnt into my mind. A true masterpiece.

We must be playing Civ differently. Doesn't a game like this take a month to finish?
