The more I play God of War the more I love it. I like that I need different strategies for different enemies, it's visually fucking amazing and the story is seriously good.

Did the Thor sons and the bit in hell today. Just glorious.

I've definitely played Pebble Beach, Sawgrass, and the K Club on TGC2.

Also, I've just bought an XBox One S but it was such a price that I can't help thinking it must be useless. Can you get most games for them or have I just wasted money?

There are no official courses in TGC2. There are many many created ones, which some people go to insane lengths to actually do.

I played the beta of TGC 2019. Its absolutely fucking brilliant and everything they wanted 2 to be, which their publisher, Maximum Games, fucked up massively. The new swing is better, albeit easier, the ball actually rolls realistically, bunkers are a cunt to hit out of, and there's no liar putts that I saw.

Gran Turismo Sport update

167 of 322 races completed
53 of 91 race wins
47 of 65 pole positions
41 fastest laps

Still making progress towards the trophies I need. The daily races have now switched to weekly races which is annoying. I got lucky last week at Suzuka was a track that was part of the system. Managed 30 races last week with 22 wins. If it matches me a good track, I can do well but if I get a back track for a whole week. Im going to struggle.

Shindig

Even if I don't touch the online on GT Sport, I've got my £12's worth. It's a little more like a Gran Turismo with the single-player stuff. Although I have three slightly different Hyundai Genesis' in my garage. I did get giddy when I got the Isle of Man TT Subaru WRX.

I've still got a long way to go. Those online trophies are just the tricky part but there is still a grind to level 50. You need 2.5 million XP in total to get to level 50. Im currenty at level 33 with 100,000 XP. You get 750 XP when you get pole postion, win and get the fastest lap for one race.

You do the maths.

Shindig
08-08-2018, 06:28 PM
I wonder if you could math out the experience with some easy single player races.

SincereTheRebel
08-08-2018, 07:06 PM
You can. You can get anywhere between 5000-8000 xp for 18 minutes work in a single player race which will cut the time dramatically. Still a grind but it should be achieved before Jesus death day.

If they have a Nascar track, attach a rubber band to the joystick and a pencil on the other end on the trigger and just have a gentle taughtness. Or just turn off damage and accelerate into the barrier.

I just did the Math, if it took 322 races to get to 100k. Sincere has to play another 8,000 races to hit 2.5m. This next part doesn't seem right but I did 8000 / 52 if he did 1 race a week, it'd take him 153 years to complete that trophy. If he played a race a day it would only take him 21 years.

edit: I've just seen that Sincere says he's level 33 with 100k and level 50 is 2.5 million. I think you've got your numbers wrong there bruh. There's no way level 33 would be 4% of the way to level 50.

Sir Andy Mahowry

Hmm weird, I have a graphic in front of me that says 250k but everything says otherwise.

Sincere here's a guide: https://www.gtplanet.net/easiest-ways-make-money-xp-gt-sport/

From everything I've read trying to work out how such a fucked up trophy could be in the game. The answer is to play Blue Moon over and over and over again. The shittier a car you use but still win, the more XP.

His numbers aren't wrong.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/how-much-xp-do-you-need-to-advance-to-next-driver-level.364538/

From 46 to 50 you need (1’226’000) more than from 0 to 46 (1’117’707) lol, although their use of apostrophes (the fuck?) instead of full stops is really annoying.

There apparently was a glitch in 1.05 were you could finish a certain race in about a minute by reversing down the pit lane but it's out now. That's how people who have the trophy got it.

phonics
09-08-2018, 01:04 AM
My favourite trophy was the XBox one where you had to kill someone, a teammate and yourself in one life so you just had people charging, getting a kill, turning around and shooting you in the head and then grenading themselves and quitting. You'll be surprised to learn the Turok multiplayer scene never really blew up.

XP grind is real. Tgose glitches have been patched and im aware of the blue moon grind. 5000-8000XP for about 20 minutes of racing is currently the way to go.

I will tackle the XP once ive finished the online part. I got the platinum for GT5 which was much more difficult and a grind. You need 5 million XP on that one with a similar ranking system.

Game Dev compares itself to one of most popular franchises in it's marketing material. I couldn't give a fuck what they say, as DS says, it's not true.

The reason I go off my head is because it's constant in every fucking thread I post in, I make a several sentence post and you drill down into one part that barely matters to the point I'm making so you can go AKSUALLY and it's so fucking dull.

I deleted the post and you still can't hold yourself back from 'Actually...'ing it because it's the only thing that defines you on this website. It's so fucking tiring feeling like you have to correct yourself constantly when you and I both know what I'm talking about.

Because video game writers are really, really shit at both writing and/or original thought. The IGN review was literally plagiarised word for word off a youtuber ffs.

If you're going to go with a Souls-esque comparison it'd be far closer to Nioh. Everything on screen when it comes to enemies is clearly telegraphed with long wind up animations but you move with such speed in comparison to everything else that it's simply not Dark Souls. I could swipe with a sword, parry, invincible frame roll out and throw 2 different grenades in the time it took to do 1 heavy attack animation in Dark Souls. You do not follow the same rules as the enemies, simple as.

If I would have to be the preening games journalist, I'd call it a side-scrolling Hyper Light Drifter meets Spelunky via Enter the Gungeon.

It'll be interesting to see if that opinion evolves, I played the shit out of the Early Access version up until I felt I could get up to the first boss with the most basic of kit and my eyes closed, which made the beginning of every new run feel like a bit of a chore. I hear they've added permanent damage modifiers that you can upgrade based on Red/Green/Purple so maybe the solution to that issue is just by making you start super powerful so you blast through it.

To beat the game, you’ll have to master 2D "souls-lite combat" with the ever-present threat of permadeath looming. No checkpoints. Kill, die, learn, repeat.

Laziness all round, then. Although that plagiarized review was outstanding. I'm amazed that can still happen when you're dealing with an opinion piece. It'll be interesting to see if he's got form for that or whether he got nowhere with the game and then pushed that out to meet a deadline.

Snoop Dogg commentating on things is heavily underrated. It should be its own genre by now.

In fairness to that graphic there are two potential outcomes not represented, but it's still lol. In the last game I had a graphic on a created fighter tell me I'd won all of my three fights by first round knockout, that my knockout percentage was one hundred, and that I'd never gone past the first round. It's something they really must improve upon.

That graphic reminds me of the PES commentary. "They're on a great run of 5 games unbeaten." followed by, "They've not won in three."

God of War is growing on me. Still pissing about on easy but the combat options have opened up a bit. I still don't know whether I should be using lock-on or not. Atreus is starting to be useful. GT Sport Platinum Challenge Week 6

208/322 races completed
67/91 wins
59/65 pole positions
165,000/2,400,000 EXP (6.87%)
Level 35/50

Still making nice progress. Finished 41 races this week at Interlagos with 20 wins and 17 pole positions. I decided to race a few times once i reached B rank and i was lucky to finish inside the top 3. The level of drivers at B level really is compeative. Once I win the 91 races, I just play Sport mode for fun and see how far I can rank up. A Level is possible but S Rank (top 200 in your reggion or top 10 in your manafacture) looks like a real challenege.

They really should increase the EXP for competition in Sports mode. It is the most difficult game mode with the least rewards.

A miscalculation on GT Sport. The number of races trophy isn't determined on how many races you have started, its calculated by how many races you have finished. This means that I am actually 33% through this trophy, instead of 66%. I have finsihed 106 races in total.

This week's races on tracks I don't really like, I'm at 6 wins (73 in total) which is better than I thought I would do. The decal and car im currently using.

GT Sport Platinum Challenge Week 6

208/322 races completed
67/91 wins
59/65 pole positions
165,000/2,400,000 EXP (6.87%)
Level 35/50

GT Sport Platinum Challenge Week 7

120/322 races completed
84/91 wins
63/65 pole positions
194,000/2,400,000 EXP (9%)
Level 36/50

Im past 80 wins now and two pole postions away from the first of four trophies. I wanted one anyway so its all good. 23 races, 17 wins and 4 pole postions. The lack of pole's was made up by the Bugatti Veyron as it is a monster in a straight line. It is bad in the corners, but my driving skills makes up for that. I would often start down the field and overtake people as they made mistakes. Not sure what races they have with the weekly refresh but ill have the pole and wins trophy by Friday. Still only 9% through the progress though.

The PS4 not working on Sunday morning, only slowed me down and was repalced with a PS PRO in the afternoon. Now I need to get a 4K TV

John

He posted about that earlier in the thread. He thought it was counting the races he'd started, not just the ones he'd finished. No idea how that ties in to him labelling the number "races completed' the whole time.

SincereTheRebel

140/322 races completed
5904/24,855 distance driven (miles)
353,313/2,400,000 EXP (14.87%)
Level 37/50

Managed to grab the race wins and pole position trophies this week and doubled by EXP. Moved from 6% to 14% needed for level 50. I now only have to worry about completing races and don't have to worry about being the fastest on track. However, as I'm enjoying the game I've set myself a new challenege. I want to get my driver and sportsman rating to S-Rank. Currently I'm at C-Rank for driver rating and A-Rank for sportsman. The driver rating to S-Rank is the difficulty one. You can get the rank via 3 ways.

Being in the top 1% in the world
Being top 200 in your region
Top 10 in your manufacture

I'm currently in the top 3% in the world. Position 9585 out of 53,406 drivers. To take it to the next level. I need to enter the FIA Gran Turismo Championships which is only open on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. There are only 3 rounds of the championshi left so I don't think I can achieve top 200 this season. But I will defianlly get my feet wet and fight the last 3 rounds to see how difficulty it really is.

Bought The Golf Club 2019, obviously:

Played four hours of it. I can finally properly talk about what I experienced during the beta test.

Graphically its a fair bump up. Trees no longer look 2D, the lighting is much improved. Rough looks way better and more natural. Your avatar is improved, with a lot of customisation options. Crowds are still fairly dead and a bit shit.

Physics are a massive improvement. The rollout is realistic, lies aren't as harshly punishing (some heavy rough gives a 90-95% lie but your ball will roll more on landing).

Putting has had a overhaul. No longer is it too easy to hit one straight, if you're slightly off line the ball will clearly take off more left or right. Power also has been changed slightly, had to essentially relearn it although it didn't take long.

The career mode is much better, you go through Q-School, then Web, then the pro tours (well, PGA due to the license). There's five difficulties from very easy, aka AI is shocking, to very hard, where they'll be scoring -8 to -11 per tournament.

More licensed courses, and more HB official ones. Can't comment on user courses as its the day of launch but some users have ported theirs over. St Andrews still plays a great round.

Three clubsets ala TGC2. Being a veteran I started on Master clubs and they're very fair if very tough. Deviation from a straight line and tempo come into play massively, although its easy to keep the line in the cone. Rarely hit a perfect/perfect, but slow/perfect only punishes you slightly, likewise fast/perfect as long as you're in the cone. Basically its 80% about tempo (easier to get on easier clubsets but you lose a lot of distance), and 20% line.

Feels very good on PC, slight stuttering when using the fast forward as the ball flies through the air, but a patch would soon change that.

Its early days but it feels like what HB wanted TGC2 to actually be.

I think I binned that during the bit near the beginning where you had to get a genuine menial job and just do it for a while. It's probably just me being rubbish, but the combat in it so far feels like the Arkham games but with a lot more button mashing and hope.

It is very Arkhamy but I prefer it.

You have to be more evasive though. Also dodging sometimes isn't as useful as a jump/web sling, especially against bosses/enemies with AOE attacks.

Gadgets also play a huge part in the fight (more so than Arkham I feel) and suit powers can be incredibly useful.

I've only got as far as the white trim suit you first get and the big brawl at the construction site so it's probably a bit early for it to click yet. Swinging about though is great fun, got into that immediately.

I got a go of it about a week ago at a mates place. It's better but the two big glaring problems with gameplay are still there.

Well, I won my first event with +4. Three events down with most of my holes ranging from bogie to birdie. Had a lovely 27 foot putt which the game stats have refused to recognised. Might have happened in the event I withdrew from, to be fair.

The way greens are hit is the same as TGC 2 and is even more uncontrollable than putting. That said, DS is right, it seems easy enough to still put up winning scores even going up against that.

Shindig

Yeah, I find putting from mid and short range is easier to judge. My dropped shots are usually concentrated to one or two shambolic holes. I don't play golf like a sensible person, though. I just put my club through it and hope. I should probably try to do the hard work on the approach with a bit more nuance.

Math is really really easy once ya learn it, loft box is all feel until you get the hang of it. If you do want to properly challenge yourself bump it up to master clubs, the line is easy to get, tempo is rock hard.

It's definitely too samey to 2 so I know now I wouldn't buy.

Is there another option though as I'd like a golf game, or have EA given up altogether?

EDIT: And it was also free with EA Access. So not really free, but cheap.

I'm playing the new NBA2K and not particularly enjoying it so what do I know?

At one point you have to play a game of 2k through a shitty camera filter with all the help tools turned off to make it 'look like an arcade cabinet' and it's fucking garbage. I might just skip the whole story.

I enjoyed 5, the city itself is a masterpiece. The only negative (aside from the usual bad writing and horrid characters) has been the lack of expansions, it's all been ploughed into the online stuff which I have no interest in.

I loved the arcadeyness of 3. Hitting the handbrake and pulling off a perfect 90 degree turn every time goes further towards 'fun' than squiggling all over the road as your nose veers from side to side.

Get Pool Panic. It's one of the weirdest and innovative games I've played in years. It takes the basic premise of 'pool' and turns it into a video game. A bit like Yokus Island Express with pool instead of pinball.

There's nothing wrong with 3 but it wouldn't have fitted as well into 4. 5 is a good middle ground, plus the flight model is 1000% better.

I was wondering that. It's very strange someone would play it in first person, especially the driving bits. Maybe they'd finished it and we're trying to do it again more awkwardly.
