What a sweaty run today. Resumed on 8-2 and it was time to board the struggle bus. Connection was very slow(I really need a new ethernet cable) but of the 10 games, 7 of them were extremely tight. The three that werent had a 9-1 win and two losses by over 5 goals. The run started with a penalty shootout loss, with me in disbelief at some of the saves Ter Stegen made. That was the continuing theme as there were two other shootout losses. The last being when 12-6 to end all hopes of 14 wins. It doesn't make a difference to the picks but you do lose the 94+ x3 pack. I actually dropped out Frimpong in the run in as he kept getting abused in the slow gameplay. Put in the 95 Clauss and he feels better defensively but less good going forwards obviously.

Nunez ends with 20 games played, 45 goals and 7 assists. Warra card.

Got my lad over to open the picks and packs for me. Nothing but fodder in the packs, with there being a Reijnders in one of the picks. He did get me a decent red pick though:

The other pick was Di Maria, Golovin and Bacha. I'm not sure he's my type of player but you have to try him out. I was surprised by how good Nunez is.

Got that evo objective ticked off. 15 games was a bit of a slog but got it done through the day.

Opened all of the packs as well as the daily log in one. Could have saved them, but then there is apparently a Konate and a Trent in packs so I had to try. Zero specials in anything until I got to the 87+ ones. Cadiz and Suazo as two Copas in one, then the x3 gave me a dupe MATS as well as Broja and gold Haaland. When Broja was the 94 face card I thought I was in with a chance of a big one, but alas no Trent or Konate for me. I also don't believe in saving packs when there's a current promo on. The exception to this rule is pre-TOTY. The power curve ramps up after that.

This means the club is now back full of glorious gold fodder. Which will now go into completing Szoboszlai. I think Weah is also a good unlock as well as Bonucci. The rest of the players look a little meh. but I could do with crafting both of the big picks that are available.

Played a shit load of games over the last couple of days and have now done everything available bar 4 games with a full Brazil squad and 6 wins in that cup. Also need 1 win in Rivals to get Div 6 rank 1 rewards. Decided to save packs for the next promo as the mid/good cards are unpackable and I've no interest in any of the SBC rando players that are there.

Really enjoying it and for me it plays the best game of football they've released since I got back into it 8/9 years ago.

Very much agree with this. The base gameplay is very good. I think the playstyles need tuning though. Once you get into the high form weekend league or Elite rivals and everyone has 95+ rated cards with all meta PS+ players in each position you feel how overpowered some of them are.

I mentioned it previously but things like not winning the ball despite perfectly timing a tackle, because the player you used doesn't have the correct PS+. Players auto intercepting your pass despite your opponent not controlling them. It can get properly silly.

At this time of year, as all the players have stamina maxed out. You can get away with putting your team on aggressive interceptions and 100 depth. It is autotackle on steroids. I used that timed with R1+ Slide tackle for extra combativeness.

Sincere, I wish I could give you this Haaland to try. 6"5 with Aerial+ makes him a menace.

Productive morning so far. Took all of the fodder from last night as well as all of the commons that have been ran through 82+ PPs. This has completed me two sections of Szoboszlai to complete him, Bonucci, Weah, Onana and Eustaquio. Didn't use a TOTS either. Ran the smaller cards through the TOTW pick and kept getting 88s and 89s.

By-product of all this SBC business is that I'm pretty much dry of all golds beyond a couple of 88s and some 84s. I should be somewhat replenished tomorrow with Rivals rewards, but in the meantime it might be time to run the 88s I have through the exchange grind to see if I can start to build back up. I do want to do the two picks though.

Reus is still there and is tempting from a personal point of view. I don't think any of the other players left available are worth doing(maybe Pacho, but he'd need to upgrade).

We should also see the WL challenge tonight. Portugal is the expected nation of choice but I really hope it is a bait and switch. Unless you can snipe their 85 TOTW Costa, the best goalkeeper options are 82 golds.
The sheer amount of USA male/female SBCs and Evos we've had lately really suggests to me an American objective of some kind is coming.

Rivals done, 2 more wins in the cup and 2 more tedious SB games with Brazil. 4 more wins in the cup tomorrow night and 2 SB Brazil wins and that's everything done.

Alisson as my TOTS pick player. The game knows what I wanted. Beyond that not a single special card in my packs. My 3x TOTS pack gave me De Jong, Veerman and Golovin. Turned that into the Team 2 MYM pick. Saw blue flare so was immediately disappointed. Dupe Suazo. Put him and the other two TOTS into the MYM pick. Was presented with dupe Danso, Johnston and Dragusin. Took Dragusin in the end.

Turned all of the low rateds into some 20odd PPs and got a dupe MYM Broja back. The only possible thing to currently put him in is the Icon pick which I'm unsure on. He's 94 rated so too high to just dump into the exchange.

I think that about ends the Trent/Konate pursuit, unless I want to endlessly grind PPs in the hope of getting ridiculous luck.

Took Bernardo into my rivals run today to play with his mate Erling. I also put Gomez to RB and then Bonucci at CB to test them all out.

Silva is good. Strangely despite 99 dribbling, he does not feel the best player on the ball I've used. That used to be Foden but is now Guler. What is stupid is he has the racoon playstyle so he barges into challenges and takes the ball off people more than Theo fucking Hernandez does.

Gomez is probably the best stay back RB in the game, but if you want them getting forwards he isnt your guy. I swapped Bonucci for Dragusin after about 3 games because it was not working.
Dragusin about bang average too. Just feels like he missed something I cant put my finger on.

As for Haaland I just cant get on with something about him. Maybe I need to play 4-4-2, but those times where you have to wiggle in and around the box, he just lets me down. Amazing to have from corners though.

After a little bit I swapped in Broja for Haaland, Gomez to the bench for Frimpong and then put in a Stanisic that I had in the club. I actually prefer the feel of Broja over Haaland. He seems to move about much better. Stanisic actually feels pretty damn good at CB tbf. Would recommend.

Also, I faced a few high rated Bisseck in rivals today and good lord is he powerful. I need to see how to get a highest rated possible Evo of him. He's Inter too so it would be great to fit him next to Bastoni.

Tried out a 5-2-1-2 today too. Loved the marauding wing backs flying forwards. I turned Bernardo Silva into a LWB and had Theo as LCB. It's a great counter formation to the 4-3-2-1 spam because those wing backs are 1v1 with their opposing full back assuming you can keep hold of the ball. If they chase the ball with their fullback they're cooked. Just Frimpong doesn't have the greatest of finishing.

I'm going to wait to 6pm tomorrow to both deal with my Broja dupe, open what packs I've gained and make the decision for Kroos/Gerrard. If Stevie gets his card released with the Icons, then Kroos is the only option as you can't get him otherwise. If he isn't, then I don't know if I can pass him up.

I also wouldn't mind getting Patricio. However with how bad my Portugal supplies are, I'd surely lose any game I played with them. This being the case, should I start qualy 4-0 with the main team, then I'd be very tempted to get the Portugal lads in to tank the final 6 games, get Rui in and be qualified anyway.

Managed to snipe a silver Bisseck. It's pricey, but his TOTS is still 550k, so really this could be seen as a bargain. The TOTS is just +1 in most stats, though the glow up has better passing and shooting. Big difference in Playstyle+ though.

The TOTS has Jockey+ and Block+ along with normal Intercept, Bruiser, Power Header and Aerial. Both have Relentless+
TOTS Glow up has Bruiser+ and Aerial+ as well as the pointless power shot+. Normal power header and block too. It's a bit worse but workable.

I suppose with Wazza we'll see how they're going to price these. I'd say he's a mid-tier Icon in their eyes. If we see 8-10 squads then there may be hope. 10-14 is a big yikes and 15+ is you're taking the piss mate.

Watch some videos that explain the chemistry system to you. Same leagues, clubs and nations will all link in together with varying degrees of strength. You'll need high chemistry as you can get.

I always start by playing squad battles. You face the AI but you do get a feel for the game. If you can get some games on it tonight there's reward packs tomorrow. Then build yourself into Rivals. There's 11 divisions to play in and you'll start at the bottom so you should only face people like yourself or maybe now and then someone who has dropped down divisions with a super team to smack people up.

Because of all the dupes nonsense I've completed Seedorf without having to touch anything already in my club. The very last pack got me a Desailly.

This leaves the Portugal quest somewhat feasible. I'd have an okay team, outside of a CB, LB and LW. I currently have gold Leao and Mendes, but a silver CB. I'm on the cusp of Elite 1 in squibs, so I have a choice of 4, 92+ reds tomorrow. Thin odds it's a Portugal lad, but any of them would be helpful. I've gone from its not happening to maybe now.
I'll have Puskas in my side by this time tomorrow too, so the only thing left to do(other than play matches) will be to grind the PPs. Very interested to see what they do with those come Monday 6pm.

Once you run out of gold commons and the dailies are done. How do you generate commons or do you throw all gold rare low rated into the craft?

Every gold card 80 and below into the crafting objective. Doesn't matter if common or rare.

If you find yourself out of both, you have a few options. Easiest way is to just buy 88s/89s and dump into the exchange. Another way is to dump everything 85-89 rated you have already through the exchange.
As you go along you should be dumping the 81-83 cards through the TOTW picks. This is good for two reasons, first is SBC requirements. A lot of what you'll wanting to be doing will come with needing TOTS/W. Seedorf for example has 4 squads that need one. 85+ x 5 needs one. TOTS card supplies are dwindling each week so these are much easier to generate.
If you've already been grinding a bit, make a few TOTW picks and then do the 85+ x 5. You could get lucky with a pull, but at minimum you have 5 cards coming back to you that can all run through the exchange.
If you've already done that, you can do the TOTW pick and use the card itself, if it's 85-89 rated and put that into the exchange and carry on that way.

Unless your club is completely empty of all gold rated cards and you have zero coins, there is always a way to keep it going.

Just had a rivals game where I was winning 2-1.

I then had Bastoni sent off for a wild last man challenge (fair) and then Maguire got sent off for a last man challenge (he wasn't last man and it was a circle tackle). I then made it 3-1 but he made changes at HT and went ultra attacking.

Zanetti has that almost default character feel to him but I think he has intercept+ which is great value.

I bought Santos and Pepe to plug big holes. Unfortunately an all gold bench makes this even tougher. At least with the England set up I could bring on a couple of fresh legs.
Ended qualy 7-3. In those 6 games, Leao provided 0 goals and 0 assists. I've a further 360k worth of coins and have accepted I'll likely take a loss on anything I spend to upgrade. Now that does fall in the price range of the lowest Eusebio, but he's extinct. If I do manage to find an upgrade it'll still be tough to get 12 wins I feel. Silva is great, but beyond that, the other two are very inconsistent.

Still, the fodder packs available make it worth the go. The red picks are almost pointless too as the odds of now getting anything that improves my team or isnt a dupe are very low. That Gabriel card also looks very good.

I can attack fine after bringing in FBD Jota, but it's going the other way. Pepe wanders off wherever he wants and Tiago Santos is shit at everything.

Anyone with a physical striker type I cannot get off the ball. In a world full of Drogba, Haaland and Nunez thats just not ideal. Problem here is coming up against a similar skill player is just down to team. I've recovered it to 6-6, but from my last 8 games I'd have to go 6-2 to get the Gabriel now. Not happening without everyone giving a free win at this point.

Inspired by Zwe starting 3-5 and turning his record around to 11-5 I made some changes to Team Portugal. To the bench went Rui Costa(shite). Tiago Santos was sold. This gave me just enough to bring in TOTS Ruben Neves and Moments Mendes. Cancelo back to RB and then I moved Joao Mario forward to a CAM spot to make room for Neves.

A big complaint of my earlier games was there was no one to stop the ball coming back at me. Neves was that answer. So much better at getting a foot to through passes and his bruiser+ and long pass+ really helped out too. It was a lot more solid not having Santos there either. Cancelo a little weak but intercept+ was very helpful.

Got the lads in game and went on a roll. Ticked off the first two games with no bother. Then came three people on the bounce who loaded in and then quit without gifting. I thought this was a sign of things to come. Managed another relatively easy win next and then got into a close one. It was end to end and I managed to steal the win at the end, cutting off a goalkeeper throw out to tap in. Now at 10-6 it looked on for the first time. Next game, Lukaku, TOTS CR7, Haaland and TOTS Messi. Fuck knows about this guys chemistry but his gameplan was to keep doing close little dinked balls over my defenders to one of his 3 big guys, then cut it across goal. It was 1-1 at HT but then he got a rebound goal and the floodgates opened when I had to push for a goal.

10-7 and into the next game the guy has 97 Zidane, 98 R10, 95 R9 and Raphinha. I thought I was toast, but he was a brainless idiot. Kept trying to finesse shot with R10 from everywhere. Maybe he only just packed him. Either way he was out at HT at 4-0 down. Now at 11-6 with two games to get the win I have a very even match. 3-3 after 90 minutes, on my first attack in ET I get a lucky bounce in behind his Bisseck and sweat it across goal for the lead. Next time I got the ball back I just switched it from side to side until ET HT. Then carried it on again after.

Not my finest hour but it worked and I now own the Gabriel, so fuck it. Gifted the last win. Koulibally, Debinha and Stanway in both red picks and life is normal again.

I matched 3 others doing the objective, which I think is the most so far. I didn't see a single Argentina team last week. Did manage to get Xavi from today though so I'm happy with that. He looks a very fun card even if he is cheap as chips. I suspect we may see the Spain WL soon too. I just need that bloody Torres now.
