1. Is this still like previous years, where the PS5 version looks nicer but plays worse?
2. Does any particular YouTuber have a video on Evos/Playstyles that I can use as a catch up?
3. How have the women players affected the meta? I should imagine though they may not be the best to have at CB, they make for great use in wide/forward areas.

For Evos I would suggest just going to FUT.gg, clicking evos and then going into each and seeing who you like. Nep usually has a look at them but I don’t know anyone specific content wise.

I've been grinding for a couple hours and I've noticed the TOTS rate seems quite low. I'm using the Nep method so it may not quite be the most efficient, but it seems to be.

The new R1 dribbling is the main thing to get your head around. It can be very effective if you've got someone rapid. Can just run past entire defences

People seem to think most of the players aren't registering as available for the pick. For example no Marquinhos in anyones pick. This is making it so basically you're getting one of the big star PSG players almost guaranteed.

It was such a strange experience flipping between all the bigger streamers. Started with NickRTFM who was doing shareplays and saw a large amount of Zaire-Emery, Dembele and Mbappe. He'd already started on his 2nd account so gave away loads of wins as he didn't care for most of this TOTS. He got Zaire-Emery then Mbappe. Switched to his main and the struggle was real. Everything went to shit. Golden goal in WL, people rubber banding after 2-0 down instead of quitting. People passing around the back.
Those reds made Zwe start a speedrun too. Switched over to Nep and Fuji and the same for all. Fuji was 14-2 in his run and his chat were screaming at him to gift the wins but he got all stressed and pissy(proper man baby shit) about it. Got to 16-3 and then went into a game and quit without gifting. Still got Hernandez and Zaire-Emery.

I didn't go back to Nep but I know that Zwe was in game for his 11th win when they patched it out.

I assume there'll now be a tweet saying how that only 0.7% of people got a red Mbappe item.

Yeah this is where I always circle back to why they feel the need to "game" the player so much. I understand that if everyone has good odds of getting the top cards each week in this case, your average player loses the will to grind/pay more money for packs, but they've tuned it to the point of insanity.

I tend to buy on odd years. The grind on 17, 19 and I think for me 22? These were all great fun, a mix for me of having to play the game well and manage my club well. I'm no Yev but I could get it done alright.
This is what stops me buying. I haven't bought since '22 and I don't think I can see myself paying again until they fix this need to screw the playerbase over.

I've installed this. After my 'let's see how you do' game, it's put me against Legendary AI. Quite how you get that from a 5-2 win over Sunderland, I'll never know.

Also, after years of getting misty-eyed over EA's presentation, it's a bit shit. Each team has one chant that just gets repeated ad nauseum and the atmosphere is a little flat. I can only hear Blaydon Races so much before getting sick of it.
Speaking of flat, I still can't believe nobody outside the NBA 2K games has commentary sounding right. It feels alright to control but, as a solo lad, it'll rest on whether the AI is interesting to play against.

Well, Legendary is not my level and it still has the feel of the AI playing the same way regardless of the team you're up against. No big long ball hoofs, everyone's tight control with the ball is decent, etc.

Gameplay is starting to twig with me a bit now. I noticed I was losing the possession battle in almost every game and it was starting to get quite 60-40 at times too. That was my warning to go and get some custom tactics sorted. I also found at times just holding possession for the sake of it can help.

Defending is where I'm currently less happy. As Shinners says, if you give any of these top attackers a yard, they're gone. For now being ultra aggressive and playing a Spurs high line is working. My biggest issue with this is when you win the ball back deep in your own half. You get so penned in. Add in that sometimes the game just passes to who it wants, you can end up providing a belter of an assist to the other team by trying to play out.

I few more decent TOTS in, including Donarumma, Medina and Nkunku. So it does look like a French/Ligue 1 theme is developing. To that end, Sissoko and Lacazette look like players I should be bringing in. I have no idea how you go about crafting these days as I've not done it for near 2 years, but I don't think I can do both in the time without learning.

I have done Ederson showdown as even now it's a good card and it's cheap enough to justify. If somehow Atalanta do Leverkusen over it'll be a mental card. I'm waiting for rewards in the morning to fully commit to any of the other SBC players.

Been looking through now to try and see who I might have that would fit the free ones. I literally just used an 86 Terrier which would have been a pretty decent one for Ligue 1. Would have come out as a pretty good winger.

At present I'm thinking Raphinha for La Liga, though the playstyles more seem to suit a CAM type. Double 5* too so it's maybe worth getting him done. Militao also looks like he comes out of it a monster. Playstyles a bit unsuited though.

The non-free Evos being 100k coins seems lol to me. Very steep to in most parts just get a +1.

Lookman is great. I have him off the right and Osimhen in the middle. Worked my way into Div 3 now and Lookman is getting two goals per game. Osimhen feels a little stiff but it's nice having a taller ST up there to bounce the play off. He's on Engine but only 2 chem for now. Finishes everything that comes his way.

Anyone who has known how I've played this over the years will know I have always preferred the dainty technically gifted type, over big and strong. I feel like bar Osimhen I'm collecting super midgets again.

Been bashing the draft for the objectives and getting some stupid teams out of it. I just can't win one though. I keep getting to the final then getting torched. Last one was frustrating. Very even game in open play, but he had TOTY Haaland. He scored 4 goals from corners. I just had no way to stop it.

Some of the football you can play with these top tier cards is silly. I would love to see a future instalment with a game mode banning skill moves though.

Been sticking the fodder into Sanches, Joselu and Mkhi. I'll have to give WL a go at some point. Previous years I could get 14-16 wins a week, though I'd be happy to get better than 10-10 with how I feel on this years version.

Took a foray into WL qualy. Wanted to see how badly things went. A 3-0 start gave encouragement but then immediately the cunts who you cant get the ball off turned up. That drew me back to 3-3. I then won a few easily on the bounce and up to 6-3. The last game didnt matter for any rewards but I played it out to see. I think I lost 6-2 in the end.

I just dont know what to do against these people. If I play how I want and hunt the ball down, they wriggle around the pressing players and have easy balls in behind. If I back off they manufacture a cut back in the box. So far I've either won convincingly or lost convincingly. In previous versions I always used to be able to steal a few wins per weekend to help me up there, but I don't think that would be happening here.

Romped out to a 3-0 lead inside 15 mins of my first game cue the pause and me being happy to pick up an easy first win. Wrong. I then just came up against people who either bullied past my defence or dribbled through it. I felt useless. Several times I had at least a 2 goal lead and lost the game.

The playstyle system added to the game is nice, but it does raise some annoyances. You wanted to win the ball with that challenge? Sorry, your chosen CB doesn't have the correct PS+ to come out of the challenge with the ball. Wanted to win that header? Sorry, the opposing forward has aerial+ so you can't. I don't know what magic Drogba possesses, but he seems damn good against me.

Ended up at 3-6 and threw the towel in. Wasn't enjoying it.

Got a dupe Di Lorenzo from rewards and so was looking for a place to put him. Serie A guarantee looked alright for the TOTS requirement, so in he went. it spat out the Italian CB so I was getting ready to deal with my 4th Calafiori when the Inter badge showed up. Always nice to pull a 1m card. I'm looking into custom tactics before giving WL another bash. If I can't defend with Bastoni I'm lost.

Just played my first Rivals game and it was against one of those pointless skillers who seem more interested in trying to beat a defender as many times as possible rather than shooting.

61% possession for him with 5 total shots and an xG of 1.6 (I slid in and gave away a first half penalty before I realised he wasn't that interested in shooting), lost count the amount of times he had free space then turned back away from goal to do another skill move.

One major change from this year to previous is that 2-0, even 3-0 isn't an unassailable lead. Very common to come back to get it level now.

Managed the red versions of Banza and Malard from the Rivals/Champs packs for the week. The free Champs upgrade expires in a day and I'll not be getting another red by then, so it would make sense to put Malard in. Actually looks a decent card.

Blitzed that TOTS friendly mode as people are playing golden goal. Got Calhanoglu and two shitters. I have almost got to the end of the season rewards. Got all but level 40. For now I haven't opened those top packs as it's Ultimate TOTS tomorrow. Still tempted to open them before that but we'll see.

The big question is for the Level 40 reward, are people taking Carlos Alberto or the 85+ x 20? I'm like 500xp away from making that decision. He has a strange card. He's like a defensive jack of all trades, master of none. I'm also fully aware the likelihood of that pack being blue after 6pm tomorrow is low.

Now anyone can essentially make (almost)any silver card they want a cracked TOTS card. I guarantee most will have a different card to each other. I've got my eye on Jony from Lazio for now. Andrey Santos and Encisco also look nuts. United fans might want Alvaro Fernandez? If you get the right one that is.

I went to find to see if I could find JP and steal some tactics. His have almost always aligned with how I like to play the game and do well for him too. He's had a few 20-0s on this. He's spat out a 4-5-1(the one with 2 CAMS) and it's done wonders for me today. From barely winning a game in Div 3, to a win streak all the way up to Div 2.

I have to say Bastoni and Theo are massive upgrades on what I had before. Paredes is good, but does get bullied by your meta players. Ona Batlle has been surprising with how good she is. Little terrier at the back. She was my get forwards RB but not now for obvious reasons. Sommer needs replacing. After not getting on with Osimhen too well I swapped in Joselu. Even on 2 chem he's doing better. Bring on the +2 tomorrow.

Turned the fodder previously mentioned into the TOTS pick, from which there were 2 shit dupes and a Salvio that I managed to avoid til now. Brought him on for my final game of the day and he feels decent. Great bench option. Have loads of useless TOTS in the club now though and could probably get Thiago Silva done. It would give me a great excuse to go and buy Alisson, but it may well mess up the clubs chemistry.

All in all I've done really well considering I have yet to buy a single player off the market.

LAM - stay forward, stay on the edge, free roam. Creative type who can finish. Messi type player here. Will act as 2nd ST when defending.
RAM - Come back, get into the box. High stamina attacking mid. Will settle into RM defending. Relentless+ a big help.
CM - Stay back, stay on the edge, cover center. Anchor man/woman. The only one who doesn't move much. Defending more important than attacking.
LM/RM - Come back, cut inside, come short, stay on the edge. LM you'll want a winger/forward type. Finesses or Trivelas also massively helpful. They'll push into the LAM space when it frees up, LM on defence. The RM you'll actually want a more central based player. Someone that's more of a playmaker, but can defend too.
LB/RB - Balanced. They will obviously push up so as good a fullback as you can get.
GK - Come for crosses, sweeper keeper

A lot to unpack there. The advice was to play slow. If you hold the ball you'll see the movement of the players open up in front of you and you can do some great passing attacks. It's really true too. I find it works really well, but if you lose the ball in an advanced position you're going to need to slow the counter as much as possible. The team will settle into a 4-4-2 on defence.


I'd hope to be able to at least break even this weekend with a 10-10, but last weekend has taught me to go in with super low expectations.

I don't know what's gone on since Tuesday, but I tapped out at 3-6 then. I've delved into WL again today and sit 11-5. All I wanted to know is that I could still hang and I can. Eyes are shot for now. I'd have to win 3 of the next 4 to get to the next rank, which I don't think will happen without some mickey mouses. Though if I do get there I get the PL red pick as well. On balance I probably deserve to be 12-4, but one game the post was my enemy. I have lost a game 11-1 and 9-2 in this run too.

I'll pick it up tomorrow evening. In reality one more win gets me the Ligue 1 pick. That's where my aim is. These likely all have shit in them for me after my recent luck but it's worth a go. I think I've currently 4 red picks and with one more win it will be 5.

Hopped back in and very narrowly lost game 1. It was a very even and he literally poked a rebound home at the death to win it. Very back and forth game after with me pulling two goals away twice, before taking it 5-4 from a late corner. The next two games saw RQs before HT and were probably some of the easiest of the weekend run.

Ended up with a 14-6 finish. That last win bagged me the PL pick, an extra selection in my two picks and a 3x TOTS pack(untradeable).

Of the reds I got Kobel, Thiago Santos, Bremer and Nkunku from the league specific ones. They were the obvious choices in each pick unfortunately. Though I believe the latter two can go through all 3 segments of the Evo.
Onto the big picks and the first set of 4 was Koulibaly, Bacha, Frimpong and Stanway. He's basically the best RB on the game isn't he? The second set of 4 was the exact same, in the same order, but for Debinha in place of Frimpong. I chose Stanway as she's by far got the best card of those 4 and could be useful off the bench.

Frimpong obviously massively saving the day there. Nothing of note in the gold packs and then came the 3xTOTS. Schlotterbeck as the face card had me go oh ffs, but luckily Salah came out to push him off the stage and make me mark out. 3rd player there was about my 4th Salvio.

God knows how I'm getting chemistry out of all of this lot now. Nice problem to have though.

Salah being Egyptian means I need a Liverpool player. Perfect excuse for Thiago. Also should really do all of the league specific guarantees(bar Ligue 1). Even an Alisson/Mac Allister shitter pull would help.

From a team review point of view, the two wingers are good but not great. I do play a 4-5-1 in game so it's not quite as fair to them, but by feel, they are about what you'd expect. Putellas is top tier. Double 5* is so handy to have and she's big enough to go and hunt the ball down too.
Sanches is an amazing box-to-box. I have him anchoring down the midfield but he doesn't really fit that role as well. I give Ederson more room to wander forwards and he does. He's not as good as a Putellas but he's good enough.
Ona Batlle is a terrier in defence. Pretty decent going forwards too. I feel bad she's just been usurped. Bastoni and Theo are both end game cards. If you can get them, get them. Paredes is good, but in a meta that has brought in Sorloth and Joselu, she's a little lost. Sommer is very inconsistent. Some god tier saves yet lets in very frustrating shots.

I'd definitely like to find a CB that works. I fear Sommer may have to keep his place to link in Bastoni but we'll see.

You're right, Stanway can go to 96 or Nkunku to 95. Annoyingly I missed a previous red evo that could have let me get a 96 Nkunku too. Fuji has him and he looks very good.

Nkunku is the current plan but there is one more shot before it expires with the Rivals red. It likely wont be good but it's worth waiting in case.

I have near 300k in coins now so the paid evos are also open. I have gold Neymar so he might be a good fit for the incisive pass one.

Used to be one I'd watch regularly, but he's absolutely one of those who is "good reds = games great, bad reds = game is shit" types. During the "unintended rewards" Friday he was on 14 wins and his chat were screaming at him to gift the final games to get to his reds before they patched it. Might be worth trying to climb in divisions. If you can get to 3 and above, you get a 92+ x 3 TOTS pack. It's any TOTS so it's almost guaranteed you'll get 3 moments cards rated 92, but great fodder.

I played a bit of Champs qualifiers the other week in a bid to complete some of the Evos. I ended up going 5-5 and actually sealing qualification to the real thing. With Ultimate TOTS being out for this past weekend, I decided to give it a go; what's the worst that could happen?

Considering I hadn't entered a WL for about 6 months, it went pretty well. 95 Joselu and 96 TOTS Giroud were pretty dominant up top and the 92 TOTS Al Dawsari was a menace as a supersub. With the extra players picks being handed out in objectives, I thought I'd play to win as many as I could. I ended up getting to 11-7, but Game 19 saw my opponent quit at full time with the score 3-3, and my eventual last two games I was up against better players that would eventually beat me. 11-9 meant two Ultimate TOTS red picks, in addition to a Bundesliga and Serie A PP from the objectives.

Bundesliga yielded Tah and Serie A gave me Ferguson. Not the worst by any means. The first Ultimate TOTS pick offered me Grimaldo, Ferguson and Lewandowski. Grimaldo looks incredible at LB, only surpassed by Theo Hernandez. so into the club he came.

My pack luck remains absolutely terrible, despite that one incredible red pick. Anyone would have been better than a duplicate Golovin.

Haaland is a player I very rarely face, but whenever I do he scores at least 2-3. Bastoni can deal with him, but when using Paredes he just lols her off and scores anyway.

Ran through the last of the guaranteed TOTS upgrades. As mentioned, Bonmati from the ultimate. Ended up with Xhaka from Bundesliga, Vivian from La Liga, Berardi from Serie A and Cold Palmer from EPL.

Last two seem good usable cards. Palmer would help a lot with Nkunku. Now in that position where I've so many players I want to use and can't chemistry them all in.
