7-3 qualy run. After getting Olise and Nkunku evo'd I put in Kokcu and the Spanish CDM from the new showdown. Kokcu is decent but you can tell he needs those upgrades. Spaniard you can tell does too. Cost me a couple of goals trying to dribble my way out of trouble with him and it isn't his game.

The Christiansen objective card would fit my team so he'll be going in before I play WL proper.

Started a WL run as I've the mornings to myself to play, so it's the best time. Two DCs midway into the first halves. I was winning one and losing the other. Went and full reset the router to see if I could carry on and no issues since. Managed to recover from there to 8-3. I don't know exactly how this compares to last week, but I know I was 6-2 and 11-5 at one point, so I seem to be about on normal pace again.

Hoping to get to 11 and see where it goes from there. I've tried Olise, Barcola, Christiansen, Spanish CDM and 0 chem Frimpong. Olise is good, but I would prefer to have Salah in there I feel. Barcola just needs a finishing playstyle of some kind. Spanish CDM I just can't get on with so far. Frimpong also quickly returned to the bench as he feels much better brought on at HT.

Considering I'm trying some guys out and the connection issues it's going decently well.

Two more DCs this morning completely derailed the 14 win push before it began. Pretty sure it's my LAN cable that's just cooked. Swapped to wifi and while the gameplay experience was worse I could at least play without disconnecting. I was winning both games too. The 2nd of which 3-0 inside 20 mins. Recovered to 12-6 and was 4-1 up in that game, then it was genuinely like they passed the controller to someone else. Got absolutely torched by Olise, Barcola and Vini. Kept scoring the same goal that passes over one inside the box.

I usually find good sessions end with good champs rewards and bad ones end in getting shafted and here no different. The only option over 94 in both red picks was Debinha. Koulibally, Ferguson and Bacha the first. Golovin, Debinha and Stanway the other.

Did manage to pick up a few P2G players in the rewards. Alvarez, Oblak, Lukic and a dupe Kokcu.

Pushed my way into Elite division. That was worse than weekend league. My team is good obviously, but there's some P2G players now that make some of my players seem shit.

I'm hoping between the red picks and TOTS pack there's some English players in there to make me at least contemplate trying to get that Enzo.

No England players in either which is a shame. The expected reds weren't red either, rather blue. Naschenweng was the highest rated and she comes with SBC playstyle+ so she's gone again. Nothing at all in the Euros packs. Barely even an 85. The last two Copa ones gave me a P2G in each though. Antonio in the first one and then De Paul in the 2nd. Savio, Alderweireld and Campbell in my blue pack. All dupes.

Also got cracking on Diaz. I've the 91 and an 88 squad of his left. As for Gomez, I've over 400k in coin now so I could combine a club dump with just buying the needed players. I could easily see a world where I complete both.

Though there is a reddit theory that you're actually just better buying the 88s/89s and putting them through the exchanges repeatedly and then 82+ PP the results. I suppose that one is a lot more dependant on pulling a special card through it.

So if this works in my head I've got the following grind.

82/83s into the TOTW pick --> Take the hopefully 85+ TOTW card into the 85+ x 5 pack(keep an eye out for Evo'able cards) --> 85+ x 5 will likely give a dupe or two, put into exchange --> Open exchange pack and run the results through 82+ PPs --> 89 rates back into the exchange for more PPs --> If PPs give shit, go back to step 1. If not keep going until you do have to.

It's not the cleanest and it relies on luck to keep going really, but also gives plenty of chances to pull the P2G cards.

Tested out buying a couple of 88s and rinsing through exchanges to PPs. It's really luck dependant but it can really fly away. If you get it to the point where it feeds itself once or twice then you're golden. For example I got a Rodri in one, put him into an exchange, got a dupe Szlai(exchange) and from the picks after another Rodri. Not managed to find a big special card yet but plenty of 85-88s.

To the point of ticking off the 3 smallest parts of Gomez and having the 4th part in fodder already. It does work but unfortunately it's not infinite like it was the other week.

Continued on with it and used it to do my P2G guarantee(dupe Kokcu again). Got another dupe Oblak along the way, which did for the 91 Jomez squad. Kept recycling since but the luck was dry right up until I got Petit in a PP.

Mostly 83/84 since that. About 90k down from buying Silvas and putting them in. 3 squads left of Gomez, but its really only two. I've been using the 88s as it seems a tad more efficient, but I dunno. 12k for an 88 gives you 27 players, while 25k for an 89 gets you 51.

The plucky lads for the WL run. There's some obvious holes. I've 275k to hand so there's temptation to bring in Lauren James, Rice, or Foden, but the two attackers I'd need a good snipe for.

Used the England team for the qualy run tonight and got me 8-2 in the end. One of the losses was me 3-0 up and on him quitting I got DC'd.

Surprising success of the team seems to be Gray. He's tall and has Intercept+ so holds it down alright. I dropped Vardy out and moved Sterling to striker with Maddisons 87 coming in to start his Evo and that seems to suit me better. Tavernier and Gomez are good, but the other two lads in defence leave something to be desired. Less said about Pope the better.

Mini goal of 11 wins reached. That at least gets me two 94 fodder reds. I think this is the point where the England team will hold me back, unless I can get the win in my first two games. I'm really not enjoying TOTS Palmer or Walker-Peters at all. My players also seem to generally have low stamina. With not much to change it off the bench it does have an effect.

I reckon had I had my main team there's a chance I could be 13-2 right now, but that's all ifs and buts.

Got to 13-5 with Enzo secured, I had two stabs at the 14th win. First game I was 3-0 down inside 30 mins. Absolute demon. With that one lost, it was onto the final game. 3-2 up on the 80th minute I had the ball in the right wing position and ran it to the byline. At the last second my mind said you should probably keep it in the corner, so I kind of did neither and overran it. He paused and put on constant pressure. I don't think I touched the ball for more than a tackle after that. He slammed home two quick goals. Annoying as it was a match I dominated possession wise too, but once he put the pressure on I didn't have a pass on.

Nothing in any of the packs or picks. The two reds were the usual Ferguson, Golovin and Debinha in one and then it was Koulibaly, Rice and Foden. Latter pick felt like a slap in the face a little bit. Could have used that last week. In hindsight I probably should have picked Rice but went for Foden.

This is now the main team. The arrival of Xavi to SBCs meant there was a way to get Frimpong in on decent chemistry.

I have Vicario in goal there as I needed some Italian to keep Bastoni happy. Gyokeres on the reserves there actually came from finishing Gold 1 in Squibs. Annoyingly that De Paul pull is a little wasted right now as to get him in means dropping Foden, which I cant because he's great. He's genuinely the best dribbler I've had in my team so far.

Goe Jomez I've found to be a very good foil to Bastoni. A little suspect in the air, but I can officially say I have scored with him. It wasn't a pity penalty either. I've used the big VVDs in draft and he and Bastoni are about the same level, but Joe, while good, is definitely on the rung below.

Xavi from my limited use is good, but I'm not sure of his best position. Theo is obviously good, but feels less so on 1 chem. A surprising lack of Frenchies in the team at this point is hurting him. He very much feels like a box to box midfielder stuck at LB right now.

Now we come onto the two I have doubts over. Diaz and Sterling. Sterling moves very well on the ball but he is very true to life, once he tried to kick it, it goes not so well. Diaz is the other way around. He seems stocky but not tall enough for it to be useful. There is strong potential to bring in Garnacho over him. His new card keeps carving me up. Those are the two I wouldn't mind replacing.

Got a couple of drafts with the 4-3-2-1. Looked up to see what the 'pros' do with it and every one of them does the same thing. They get one fullback to stay with the other allowed to get forwards. If you start getting closed down, big switch to the other fullback. Idea is to get around the box and wiggle about with the ball until your opponent moves someone out to come get you. Then the players are positioned in such a way that a couple of quick passes into the space they just left has you in on goal.

I've tested a couple of times putting a high rated player in to exchange to recycle more fodder into the club, but it being down to 81+ is killing it. Several times I've had all four as 81s. I wanted to grind the SBCs for Garnacho and Guler but it may be difficult.

We got the England WL reveal on Wednesday last week and my hunch would be Germans this weekend. A quick look to see if they have any weak spots in their potential squads like the English had with goalkeeper, the answer is fullbacks. Other than Mittelstadt there hasn't been a good German fullback since the Havertz SBC. Maybe worth picking a few of him up.

The obvious risk being that if it's German league, rather than Germans, then you're out of luck.

I think the Drogba one is quite recent and was the card "Selected" by the pro winner. His Goiazo was already painful like Fox said and thats just a better one.

Depending on how they do his dribbling, he's going to be about 8 squads.

Apparently the Copa tournament is much easier to get the upgrades from if they're on a good team. Uruguay are I believe 3rd favourites for the whole thing so fingers are crossed.

Finally got the squad in a good place too. The problem with your Garnachos, Diazs, Olises and Salahs is none of them have striker listed as alternative positions. I didn't realise Barcola does, so back into the team he went and the balance is so much better now.

I switched to the 4-3-2-1 for a qualy run(sorry Sincere). Salah up top, Garnacho left, Barcola right. Enzo and De Paul holding and Xavi getting forward of the 3 CMs. I have recently been struggling with the formation, but today I set the fullbacks back to balanced and told them to overlap. Big difference maker. You have to be confident to dribble out of a press with your CM and sometimes even CBs, but that sprayed pass out to a wide open fullback is always on.

Went 9-1 in the run. The 1 loss I was down 3-0 at HT and clawed it back to 3-2, but he held possession for the last 15 mins to see it out. I'd love to be able to play like this all the time, but I only ever tend to do it in bursts.

Its actually not too bad on principle. Most of these cards will fit the 96-97 range with maybe a few getting to 98. Still gives them room for the end game everything is 99 nonsense later.

What I cannot fathom is why the pack weight of these is so low. Is anyone really opening store packs now? In July? Either they've just released this current bunch of upgrades not thinking about it. Thus as they probably dont grind the game they don't know that it's a bad mix of "upgrades" and PPs. Or this is deliberate and they saw everything being obtained too easily.

For example, last week with the 82+ and the way things were, I could easily have knocked the Drogba and Darwin SBC out by now. As it is I've only done half of Guler and not even any of the other two yet.

I usually throw away anyone who has a better card available (and is somewhat attainable - so I am not throwing away my gold Messi as its going to be a while before I get the TOTS/TOTY one) and then throw away anyone outside a "first XI" of each major nation.

Some of these single SBC (the Canadian guy and American woman) could be worth using shit fodder to turn into big fodder.

Got the 95 Cancelo as my squibs red this week. He compares very well to Enzo actually. He's a tad slower and worse at shooting, but is taller, a bit better defensively and has much better PS+ for a more defensive CM. He'd be a great candidate to start at RB and move into the middle.

Moving TOTS Theo Hernandez to CM is fantastic. Not the best in dribbling but his long shots and late runs into the box for Long Ball FC is great. Ive got a marksman on him.

Im really enjoying the game at the moment. They playstyles + on cards is really coming in very useful. Not a fan of the constant press but it is really effective.

There isn’t really a grind to be able to keep opening packs and do SBC’s, but you can just about do the former if it’s only packs you want to open.

There kind of isn't a grind really. But that should change come Monday 6pm. You would usually chuck all duplicate 88+ cards into exchanges and then use the resulting cards in player picks. You keep going and you should start filling your club up with 84-87 rated squads. Most SBC solutions now need you to use 86 and 87 golds along side a required TOTS card which tends to drag the rating up. So you can use anything 88+ straight into an exchange if you run out. Everything 81-83 rated gets you a TOTW pick sorted out. You can use the player in an SBC from it or submit that to an exchange to keep going.

The problem is the latest player pick requires a full 11 players with 2 rares. Quite often it's giving you back 81s and 82s as your only options. So the grind runs out quickly.

The previous pick was an 82+ pick which required 8 golds and 2 rares. You're getting 1 option less, but no 81s being in there meant you came out better almost every time. To the point that I did Joe Gomez SBC(rated at 710k on FUTBIN) by buying 88 rateds over and over and putting them through the above process. It only cost me 130k or so to complete him.

New Szobo SBC is a bit meh. He has no real shot of an upgrade so to have him at 95 rated is a bit crap. It's also not that big of a jump on his TOTS, outside of aggression and a bit of defence. At least he's cheap.

Another thing that irritates is when you back out of a PP or some such SBC, if you choose not to open it immediately it takes you fully back to the main menu, not the SBC menu.
