The top World Cup legend of our times is Miroslav Klose. He had Darren Bent's club career, but went to four World Cups and donned them all because somehow every German striker was worse than him for a decade.

Including the one where people said he was past it and he was so good off the bench that he managed to win back starting striker at age 45.

Georgi Ivanov - dead

I read this and thought you meant Gonzo. He is very much alive.

He was part of Bulgaria's roster for the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, but did not make any appearances in the tournament.

Stoitchkov and Kostadinov held him back.

George Best is the old man/boomer selection, but Bobby Charlton is objectively the greatest United (and England) player ever, although his comparative lack of cultural presence these days will probably make his death less of a big deal than, say, Gazza going prematurely. Jimmy Floyd

We were 3-0 up at half time in the first leg (Flo assisted), it finished 3-1, then the second leg was also 3-1, went to extra time and Barcelona scored a couple more. We were quite unlucky, Dani scored the equaliser fairly late if memory serves, and I think Rivaldo/Figo were involved.

She was good in Bosch too. Obviously it's a massive cliche but really no age to go.

Tom Verlaine also went a couple of days ago, albeit at the slightly more acceptable (but still quite young in the grand scheme of things) age of 73. We talk about people being "influential" and it's over used but the influence Television had on so much music that came after them is difficult to overstate. Marquee Moon really is a near-perfect album.

Can't see O'Grady being like that at all. You only have to look at all the heartfelt tributes that came out and how so many of his colleagues and friends held him in high esteem.

Also heard a story yesterday from someone who was homeless at the time who said O'Grady saw him and told him 'Let's get a meal in your belly'. Took him to a restaurant and spent 3 hours chatting with him.

Reminded me of stories of random acts of kindess that suddenly became known from members of the public about George Michael when he passed.

Andy Rourke, Smiths bassist. 59. Hadn't really done much since 1987, but was a great and underrated part of that band. His stuff was quite a lot more complex and Motown-influenced than most of the other indie bands around back then, and while the M&M partnership was obviously the most important part, I don't think he was far behind. They'd have been significantly different with another bass player, which you can't say about most indie bands over the years.

On a personal note, I'm a bit freaked out because I sent this message to my mate YESTERDAY, solely to send him on a wild goose chase on google:

https://scontent-lcy1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.15752-9/346114755_1327075661356736_3636076454075343335_n.j pg?_nc_cat=107&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=ae9488&_nc_ohc=Bf5yzSseYw0AX-meHq5&_nc_ht=scontent-lcy1-1.xx&oh=03_AdTBE6zPLb8mdLKfN6qzrj0IVTLGul9Tb3f09eN-oJ7l2A&oe=648EBAFB

I basically picked Andy Rourke at total random. If I knew about my angel of death powers, I'd have picked someone a lot more shit. RIP, sorry mate.
