Overriding thought at this stage is how much I wish I'd done Fekir to save myself half a million on Ben Yedder. Hate the cunt. First half of my games done, enjoyable enough. Alcohol wearing off and hangover kicking in, time for bed.

Identitikit FIFA 20 4-2-3-1, Fekir, Benzema, Vieira; proper counter attacking cunt, zero ability or want to play with the ball, he won with 28% possession. Unbelievably frustrating.

Game 2.1: 1-1 draw, RQ from opponent (0-1)
Identikit 4-2-3-1, Fekir, Benzema, Inaki Williams, tried to play without the ball, scored a KO goal then quit after 30 mins of me having 9 shots on goal ended in an equaliser.

Game 2.2: RQ at 0-0 (0-1)

Game 2.3: 2-1 RQ win (1-1)
4-1-2-1 narrow; Icons, Fekir, Monteiro

Game 3: 4-1 RQ Win (2-1)
4-3-2-1 Robbie Keane, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Upamecano. Very unambitious player, but competent in defence, his de Bruyne barely passed the half way line. Scored brief equaliser from corner whilst conceding 73% of possession to me and 0.4 XG vs 5.2. Once I went 2-1, we came out of his shell and got eaten up for breakfast.

Game 4: 3-1 Win (3-1)
4-3-2-1 Benzema, Pele, Salah, Ginola; Loved this guy- he attacked and pressed from minute one like in the first month of the game. Posed a lot of questions, lacking in quality.

Game 5: 4-0 Loss (3-2)
4-2-2-2 Kante, Martins, Fekir, Benzema; Another frustrating one, that would go either way depending on the events of the first 30' rather than the blow out it reads as. His first two are off the back of one of those inexplicable EAids moments with my TAA miscontrolling, the second a massive deflection off a 30 yard hit and hope and the 3rd from a tackle of my player turning into an OG. I had 5.4 XG to his 1.2 and he didn't touch the ball in the second half, but this 4-2-2-2 meta is so hard to break down when the AMs are set to come back. He played well, and deserved it on balance in a FIFA sense, but fuck me, this is anti-football.

Game 6: 6-2 Loss (3-3)
4-4-2 Bundesliga, Haaland, Goretzka, Koller; It had to happen - totally outplayed in this one by a tight, pressing and expressive in attack player. Enjoyed it more than most of the wins so far. Lovely player, proper attacking football and a true FIFA scoreline.

Game 7: 3-0 RQ Win (4-3)
4-1-2-3 Premier League; Lukaku, Mane, Salah, de Bruyne, Kante; Came out swinging, not bad pressing in midfield but didn't manage a shot, awful in defence and it was done within 30 minutes.

Game 8: 4-1 Loss (4-4)
4-4-2 Mbappe, Icon Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Messi, Neymar; One of those games where you know it's going to be a bitch when you see the line up and a red Mbappe. Who spent most of the game in his own half. Proper FIFA player, highly efficient.


Game 9: 2-0 RQ Win (5-4)
4-2-1-3 Chiesa, R Ferdinand, Zidane, Osimmhen; Good player, good team, threatened plenty before I grabbed my goals and then he scythed me in on goal to get his Cancelo red carded and end the game as a contest.

Game 10: 7-3 RQ Win (6-4)
4-3-3 Mane, Ronaldo, Salah, de Bruyne,. PSG backline; felt tighter than 7-3. Super confident timed shooter, scored a couple of belters including with Shadow Onyeka from 35 yards.

Second WL stint - this time commencing at 3:30 off the back of a 10 hour post-Emirates sesh. Fortunately this time I've already started my sobering up with a 2 hour stint in a casino.

Game 11 4-1 RQ Win (7-4)
4-3-3 Garrincha, Gattuso, Salah; much better player than the scoreline suggested who went one up early, but gambled hard after I equalised and was exploited.

Game 12 4-1 Loss (7-5)
5-3-2 Mane, Vieira, the Ajax Brazilian; more of a 7 at the back, 3 up top affair, but he outclassed me. Not at all fun.

Game 13 4-2 Loss (7-6)
4-3-1 J David, Claude-Muarice, Nkunku; closer than suggested, really good defender who was clinical.

Game 14 5-2 Win (8-6)
4-2-2-2 Benzema, Vinicius, Chiesa; Absolute bellend who was great at running directly with the stop-start-knock it on stuff that gave him back to back KO goals, but otherwise was total shite.

That'll do for the weekend as I'm off to Bristol tomorrow for another sesh, sans-Xbox. Time to give away some wins.

If you do enough of them they will, through sheer weight of numbers. I've now packed 4 promo cards (3 of which worth over 200k), but I must have opened about 500 crap packs from the league SBC's.

I've not packed anything big from them yet but they've been ok for building up fodder. The key seems to be rinsing the ones you can do with what you have, use that to build up the required silver/bronze cards and then use coins to pick-up what you still need. Then hope that what you pack covers the cost of what you've spent. With enough repetition you'll hit something big + tradeable and be able to use that to get to pure profit.

It doesn’t. It encourages folks to push on, but people like me that routinely hit 8-12 were only giving away a few games a week. Eg, this week I hit 12 then gave away three. Under the new system I’ll be incentivised to push for another couple, but I won’t, and I’ll still need to give some wins to get a point from each of the losses.

I like it. For me, most weeks, it’s one less red pick but an ultimate pack added to the mix, which is is of much greater value now TOTW is so dead outside of making fun teams.

Went home for Christmas this past weekend, so no gameplay for me for over a week. How many tokens for this new promo are locked up in objectives?

Been on the web app a fair bit in the evening instead, working on the league SBCs and some of the Foundation ones I'd missed and I've had some decent luck. On Friday I got de Bruyne, Ice Pereyra and Luis Suarez in back-to-back packs, and today I've had IF Courtois, Lloris and the Wildcard Acheampong.

Yeh just stuck him at CAM for a couple of games, dropping Banza to the bench to switch Ben Yedder up front, and he was very very good. For now, I've sold Ben Yedder and Salah, using 85 Saka and Aouar in their place and bringing Banza back in, in case I get the odd game in over the next few weeks - shouldn't be too much of a drop off.

Yeh I’m looking forward to him. Hard to fit him into the 4 league hybrid I have right now, but now I’ve sold Ben Yedder and Salah I’ll play around with the team in the new year and give him a go.

All depends what comes up in Futmas. I re-invested the 650k or so from sales into all the best value 85-91s in duplicate, so hopefully can make some money back whilst completing whatever looks tasty.

Up to 1900 players from the league SBC comps only in the club, aside from Some off league golds, so looking to whittle down all the untradeable masses SBCing over futmas before going back through the leagues again during TOTY. They’re undoable for me now as I just end up having to bin 88+ Duplicate untradeable players. The league SBCs are good this year for grinding, but only really if you’ve got active targets to push those players into, and only as SBC fuel and the odd promo player that makes your team rather than making coins back, as the packs that pay out are all untradeable.

Helping my Serie A squad come together is WW Maignan who I packed in an untradeable 82+ player pack from a milestone of some description. I then packed a tradeable version in the next pack (Small Gold Players Pack) who immediately sold for 55k. :D

Sadly it was still near full price. Not really had the itch since.
