The rumour is TOTS could come as early as in 2 weeks time. Though if I remember last year, the TOTS cards were not actually as juiced as they usually were. I'm just hoping they keep them as red picks. I do remember WL becomes a sweat fest during it though.

One thing I have noticed with this Mbappe is the power curve. I've always said team doesn't make too much difference to you. Where you will notice it is in those games where it's a tight matchup skill wise. A better team can sometimes drag you over the line against a better player. Having now used Mbappe, if this is what the gold card felt like at the start of the game it's a joke.
I'd love to know what adding in multiple TOTY cards in one go in a January feels like. If I do end up playing '23, that's got to be the aim.

I think it makes a huge difference - imagine pulling Gold Mbappe on day 1. You'd monster people with a load of 78-rated cloggers at the back and that would set you up for better rewards and would compound over time. By TOTY everyone already has pretty great teams and so they don't make as big a difference

I managed to get his TOTY card in '19 (https://www.futbin.com/19/player/17604/marcelo) and it's honestly one of the best cards I've ever used full stop. So good that I had to move him into CM/CAM every game. That new one looks even better as well. Mental. If he keeps his 5* SM he'll be everyones LB for the rest of the game.

Judging by Twitter a lot of people are upset with Richarlison and Pavard not getting their upgrades. Therein lies the gamble of the showdown SBC. My way of looking at it was always, would you be happy with the card with no upgrade? If so, get it completed.
Great to see Fabio is getting a +2. I've brought him on a few times in Rivals to test him. He needs that boost to his reactions really and could use a little more pace, but with a Maestro on now, he's already a 95 rated CAM in game.

I had several games where I went 1-0 up and just could not get the 2nd for the life of me. Then after half time everything would change and I'd crumble. At one point I had to check I wasn't facing the same people over again.

This promo has brought some of what I like to see into it. Make random/lesser players good and useful! But I do feel the boosts could have been a smidge higher and maybe chuck in some WF/SM upgrades?

I suppose I'll open my packs now, though in reality there's only Di Natale, The rat, Quags or Milito that'd be of much use to my team.

I wouldn't mind a PIM goalkeeper coming out soon. Lafont is beginning to annoy me. He pulls of some stupid saves, but flappy wrists some into the net. VDS would be ideal if I can't have a keeper with a hat on. Though those two are the most expensive. Any of them are likely great. Icons do tend to have that hidden something about them that makes them better.

Lost all 3 of my Captains Club matches yesterday. So I'm hoping today brings at least 2 wins. Need to crack on with that.

I was also right in my thinking about a youtuber/pro using a "new" formation and starting the trend. It's actually a 3-5-2 with the wide players set to come back on defence, that the ePremier League winner used. I currently have a 3-4-1-2 as almost my main tactic, so I may switch it up to see if there's much difference. Very much memories of FIFA 13 and zee Germans.

There's apparently a glitch in the game that allows you to complete expired SBCs after they've gone, as long as you get into the actual SBC screen just before it ends. Nick RTFM did it on his stream on PS5.

I've seen a few folk suggest you will be auto booted after 60 mins of being in the screen, but if for example you wanted Jones, but only if he gets his upgrade, you could test the theory out and if it doesn't work then you don't lose anything.

That Defoe looks very nice, but a bit tough to link as you say. You need Icons to box him in. 84 squad would have been more fair I think. Raul however is quite fairly priced. I liked him IRL so I may do that.

Also a good upgrade week incoming for the FF cards. +1 coming for both Perisic and Cali. Medina is also due a +2. Lens won and kept a clean sheet despite being down to 10 men after 17 mins.

14-6 finish to the weekend, with giving the final game away. Team felt much better than it does in Rivals.

It was a bit of a strange run. The first 9 games were all wins, with almost all players quitting when I went 1 or 2 up. From there it was pretty much win one, lose one. Gameplay was silky smooth for about the first 13 games but then it got quite stodgy.
I did have a strange occurrence in two games. First one of them a chap was clearly looking to quit before the game kicked off. Luckily I've learned to kick off straight away because of this and he just missed it. He then tried to hack me down with every one of his players. Luckily I broke through and scored because he dashboarded just as the ball crosses the line.
The 2nd guy had a god squad but gave me the ball from kick off. Moved out of the way and let me score. I did my usual apology celebration before skipping and he paused it. Waited a good 15 seconds and he came back in. I managed to score 2 more but I could tell he was Constant pressure now. He managed to get the 3 back and then immediately paused and quit. Of course the next guy I matched after slapped me silly.

Unfortunately no red Neymar. I did get a Haaland, Casemiro and another couple of walkouts from the packs though so once I sell those I'm coming back up towards 500k. That's the 3rd Casemiro in 3 days. I have one untradeable and one in quick sell. I should probably put one into Defoe or something.

So far most cards have released at about their market price, only for the price to then fall as people sell the player off to do the SBC. Del P currently sits around 640k on Xbox.

If he ends up in the 500-600k range, I'd love to try his loan out as I reckon he'd fill my dropping deep creative style striker role perfectly.

My run in the Captains Cup ends at about 10 games on the bounce. Annoyingly lost after conceding a late equaliser and then in extra time in the 14th and final win needed. Got a Sommer in the packs and turned the rest into a Foden and Szczczczczesny.

Apparently the game is going down for maintenance in an hour for about 6 hours so that should be me done until rewards hit tomorrow. Still no sign of the FF cards upgrading yet either.

I used Lahm's loan in my 3 games tonight. I really like him. Not sure I 800k like him but he has been very sold in there. Even on a basic.

Aguero depends exactly how good they make him. Given the current power curve I expect a 92 rated with something like 89 pace, but high dribbling and shooting.

He doesn't fit my team, so he'd have to be very good or well priced to get him done. I imagine 500-600k at least too.

I think Henry will be the big test for pricing. The three we've had since Baresi have been quite fairly priced. Lahm is even down at 800k now. However Henry is both expensive on the market and very popular with everyone and most importantly, French. He was 2m before the leak hit and will likely come down a bit in the next hour or so, but I think the SBC will cost more than 2m. A bit like the Puskas situation I think.

Did qualy last night and actually it was a struggle. Two dropback guys beat me, despite me massively out xG'ing them. Then got a guy who raced to a 3-0 lead against me, with some serious luck on two of his goals. He paused it for me too. I came back the rest of the game and scored to go 5-3 up, so I paused it back for him. He changed to constant pressure and even so I picked out a perfect back post cross for Origi to nod in unmarked. Somehow the game tried to do a left footed bicycle kick and ballooned it over.
Of course he gets the 2 goals to take it to extra time. Brings on Prime Eusebio and Eto'o from the bench and they absolutely killed my tired team and I lost 10-5.

Finished my playoff run 6-4, which felt crap considering the last few weeks I should really have gone 9-1. Lautaro and Mkhitaryan starting to feel like they need to go, but I'm hoping they can last til TOTS hits. Dangerous to buy anything now.

Won my first 11 games of WL on the bounce and I've stopped for the night. It's been very enjoyable and had some of the best FIFA I've played. A key change was bringing TOTYHM Chiesa in for Mkhi after 5 games.
This added more pace and also got Tonali up to 10 chem(I've had him on 7 for ages). He doesn't have the passing that Mkhitaryan does or the 5* WF, but the pace and seemingly better shooting makes up for it. He just comes off the dribble nicer, like he explodes out of it when you need it.
He got 6 in 6 with 5 assists from either CAM or RW. Also Tonali felt noticeably sharper.

I managed to also get him for 92k when he was going for 100k. I've relisted him already for a few reasons. Firstly I've seen what I need to see. Second, with TOTS announced the fire sale of all fire sales should happen over the next week and I'd rather not be left holding my dick. Lastly, there isn't really much point going beyond the 11 wins, unless you can get to 16.
I'll try tomorrow but now ELO will catch me, if I'm getting humped I wont care.

What a mixed evening of FIFA that was. Started off by clearing the dupes I had into Casillas, which allowed me access to the some 15 packs or so behind. Got some decent stuff until BANG, Icon Moments walkout. Came up with the Germany flag which seemed to hang there forever. Unfortunately not one of the other 3 that you'd want, but Klose.
Luckily as it turned out it was a tradeable pack so Casillas basically paid for himself. 235k back into the kitty.

Finished Iker off and into my last 9 games I went. Comfortably won the first of the evening but then came the slog. At 12-0, the next game matched me against someone way better. I was out without even a sniff of goal after being 3-0 down inside 30 mins.
Then annoyingly of the next 5 games, 4 went to ET and 3 of those to penalties. Two of which saw me concede late, late equalisers to take me there. I won the other but lost all of the shootouts.
What I will say is this run of games really has me unsure on Casillas. In two of those games that went to pens I massively out xG my opponent. I even noted them down. 8.4-2.5(4-4), 6.6-1.9(4-4) and the one that went to ET that I won was 3-3 but 6.9-3.0.
He's like a cat as a sweeper keeper and in those point blank shots. His distribution is also a massive upgrade on Lafont, but I dont know. Maybe I just expect more because of who he is but maybe I expected more.

A quick RQ win in the next took me to 15-4. At this point it'd been about 2 weeks since I got a gifted win in WL proper and the wait goes on. My opponent had a great team but gold Kimpembe and Marquinhos in defence. I scored from my first attack and he waited an age to kick off again. Maybe he was on the verge of quitting. I managed to break through again but his keeper came up with a mega save. From there he took complete control. The only chances I got were on the counter, but I lost 6-3 in the end. Final record of 15-5. Lost for the 16th win again for about the 3rd or 4th time running.

Got Barella in all 3 red picks which is annoying as I have him already. So chose the other options.

Still, now up to 950k in the kitty. Not a great deal of fodder left but it is what it is.

Managed to get all of my rivals done tonight. Casillas performed better today, with a couple of world class saves balanced out with a couple of flappers. His kicking is almost worth keeping him by itself. I've scored against the late game constant press through him picking a pass over the top of it out, more than once.

Preview pack also paid out with a TOTW which was nice. Stonks are stonks. Now at 975k. I have about 8 IFs I could sell too so realistically I'm closer to 1.1-1.2 with what I have tradeable. I'm hoping a party bag comes out tomorrow so the prices go up again and I can sell.

I've looked on FUTBIN and there are some real tasty players in that price range. The likes of Prime Zidane, Maldini, mid Cruyff all not too far above what I have now.

I've been almost exclusively rocking the 3-5-2 now. It can absorb a lot of pressure and you're not overly fucked if you commit a CB and miss. Perisic is the perfect wide player in the formation. Tall and strong, with decent enough defending stats to make him a nuisance and a great finisher on both feet. He's also rapid with his upgrades now on him and he's still one more to come.
The odd man out is Nuno Mendes really. He handles the defensive side of his LM role well, however he doesnt seem to be the greatest passer or crosser of the ball. But what lets him and me down most is his dire finishing. He gets into good positions, but most of the time he's lucky if he hits the target. I could use an upgrade there.

When TOTS hits affording both should be possible. The amount of 87+ cards flowing into clubs goes up massively.

It’s going to be what you want of your midfielder really. Lahm will cover grass more quickly and will feel better on the ball and be as good at passing as you’ll need.
Vieira will be more clunky, but physically and defensively dominant. His legs being 50 feet long helps him intercept everything. Depends how you play and what you’re missing really.

The question I was going to ask the other day was while all of these new batch of PIMs are cool, in one way or the other, but for the most part look like they could be usurped by the coming TOTS cards, with a couple of exceptions.
Maldini however, does maybe have slight concern with physicals, but looks like he'll be absolutely fine!

Yeah I feel like Mboopy is on my limit of clunk. Perisic is taller, but is much leaner and feels more nimble. Now I do play Mbappe on 8 chem with a marksman, so I could get rid of the clunk a little, but getting his strength and reactions way up along with his thicker body type will do until I can 10 chem him.

The obvious player here would be some form of Messi, but as is, his TOTY card is 1.7m.

At this point holding into TOTS is the way. The PPs really have not paid out on me at all this week. The only other thing to do would be to invest in fodder, but now is a very bad time to do so. The supply of it is going to go mental in a weeks time.

You can't put him in the EPL team, but he also can't go in the Liga NOS one because he's changed clubs, but he's still had a TOTS card worthy season. He's also too good to be an objective card and would likely prove a popular SBC.

Nepenthez' latest video being a STATE OF THE GAME video I thought was going to be bad, but he makes a very solid point. EA have juiced everything up so much that, what really are TOTS going to be?

If we assume the voting makes any difference at all, surely Lacazette is getting a card on Friday. He literally only got a 93 rated card last week. So now they're in a corner. They can make his TOTS 93 or lower, but then, what's the point of it? The only other way is to boost him to say a 95 or 96 card rating. Now all of a sudden, all other TOTS cards are going to have to jump up to that step in the power curve in order to compensate. How are they going to get around this?

Personal opinion is divided two ways. Either they just wont give anyone who recently got a decent promo card a TOTS. Or and I think this is more likely. They will juice them up, but we might even only see now 11 players per league, plus a few SBCs. They'll also be bastards to pack and WL rewards will change to make them in red picks like 14+ wins to get one guaranteed.

Wow both of those guys pretty much double in price inside a week. Definitely something I'll be looking at, because the only two TOTS that really impact my team as is, are Ligue 1 and Serie A and they're the last two.

I sold off all the low rated TOTW cards before for 23k a pop. Nicely up to 1.14m now with the 84+ rated guys I have left currently totalling 150k more after tax. Currently there's only 1 and a half pages of players on FUTBIN that I couldn't afford to bring in.

I like him a lot. I usually play Tonali in his place, so he's my comparison, but Lahm definitely feels like he covers the ground better. Also feels a lot more rapid off the mark. I guess that might be his amazing reactions?

I only actually got 3 and a bit games from the 5 loan, due to early RQs. But he got a goal and an assist. He should have had more assists but the amount of his corners that were clawed onto bar or post was silly.
Feels much more able to change direction very quickly too. For example, sprinting with say, Vinicius Jr, I'll feel like a skill move or cut in/outside is coming, but often Tonali will run too far by it. Lahm seemed to stop as quick as the attack would.
The only drawback really is his height. I conceded a goal from him being last man back and going shoulder to shoulder with someone. I'm confident Tonali would have won that ball, but Lahm was pushed off it.

Overall I'm completing the main card off the back of this. He'll likely be usurped in TOTS, but as mentioned before we are in almost unchartered waters with whats coming and I've to wait over a month before my relevant TOTS hits anyway.

Woke before my alarm this morning so got on to nab the two wins I needed. I was playing GG but I did twice go 2-0 up for my opponent to come back and beat me. Ended up with 7 games to give away. Funnily enough I ran into two other people giving away wins while doing this. First time in 4 weeks that too.
One gave me the win and the other started playing, but I cba with bronze v bronze off chem shit weekend league game at 5 am.
No Ronny for me in the end, but did get red Martinez.

I felt the same way. I went from Kante to him so the biggest difference was the ability on the ball.

I think TOTS will bring in Cantona and Lahm for me. Unless I pack some absolute worldies.

What did surprise me was how much better he felt like he got about the place, despite him and Tonali being very similar in some stats. Perhaps it's the H/H. I'm definitely doing him.
As mentioned before Cantona looks amazing, but I don't think I can as I reckon I'd end up stuck with him and Mbappe up top for good.


Icon swaps 3 confirmed as coming tonight. Leaks don't seem to know the players involved yet either. I've seen one suggest PIM Seedorf as the lowest option, PIM Eto'o as the middle tier player and PIM Ronaldinho as the top option. I really can't see that though. That's far too generous.

I think of the players, Matthaus is the only one that is maybe "bad" value wise. Gullit may need a full send, but even that prime is 2.6m still at the time of typing. He's still the best CM in the game and it gives everyone a chance at the Gullit experience. As someone who has never used him, that is a big temptation.

However value wise, Best is incredible. He has perhaps the 2nd best dribbling on the game behind Messi and you could get him within the week. VDS, cheap as chips as is Carlos really. He's not the most meta LB available these days but it's Bobby fucking Carlos.
King Kenny also 7 tokens is going to be of great temptation to all Liverpool fans and he actually has a cracking card with that 5* WF.
Eto'o is perhaps going to be the main one overlooked here. 11 is maybe a bit rich for him, with the combo of other things available.

Prices have moved since, but I think at 6, all players bar VDS were 1m or more.
