It's a very cool concept but I cant help but think there's an objective for using these cards down the line. Or else where would we ever use them?

On this point I think they really need to go a bit old school. In FIFA 17 and maybe 19, they had weekend leagues in which there were certain restrictions. Some had no Icons allowed, some where league specific etc. I'd love for them to bring that in. Imagine a WL where you could use first owner cards only, for example.

As for rewards, it was looking a bit flat and like Thommas boy Mitrovic was going to have to go into Origi, but the last pack provided me with 2 x 84 rated IF cards and then recycling the shit into the picks gave me Ito and one from Celtic.

Thanks to that I got Divock into the club for free(it feels very satisfying doing this). I still have not built a team yet though. I played Rivals with gold Lopes, Denayer, Sanches and Atal. Still managed 8 wins in 10 games and I'm now nicely into Div 3.

I'm going to have to relook at that option sheet for swaps and decide what to do over the weekend. I'm still leaning Xavi, but need to weigh up the options. I have 350k to hand which is almost exactly the cost of that Greaseman. They really didn't put him up for long though so I need to decide quick if I'm to do him.

What Danny said and for league SBC grinders it's great value. 4 cards compared to 11 needed for the standard bronze upgrade and you're getting 3 cards back instead of 2.

I tried a few out for science and yeah you're right. Got the two silver stars done. Surprisingly more difficult than before because everyone has figured out what I learned tonight. Get the ball to KDB and shoot from 25 yards. His shooting is so good that it just goes in. Silver keepers cannot cope.

Going to try and combine silvers and Eridevise to try and get 2 swaps tokens and the Talles Mango card done at the same time. The difficulty is going to be no super subs off the bench. I was going to try WL but that can wait I guess.

I also put the very last of what I had into player picks before they went away and managed 4 picks. Got a random 80, then Ruben Dias, then Sterling and then TOTW Auba. Great fodder and likely puts me in a position to do the largest part of Greaseman, which is almost half of his price. He's becoming more than tempting now.

Dipped my toe into the Gauntlet mode and good lord is that stressful. Games are played at 100mph whether you like it or not. I've won 3 of 5, with my main issue being I don't have the backlog of cards for this that others do. Mainly in defence.

Not quite free, like the others, but to the cost of 1 Rodrigo and 1 Fabinho(35k ish?). Due to the way the fodder came to me it had to be those specific players for chemistry purposes, or else I'd have waited for battles rewards and those upgrades.

Still not bad and to keep it sweeter, I still have 340k and still haven't used a swap token. I did fear I'd need to burn an 83 x 25 to get him done, but thankfully all options are still open to me.

Decided to go and take a big chunk out of my needed 8 rivals wins tonight. Went in with this:

Managed to get Kamara and Fekir at a couple thousand below their prices so in effect it was like a loan. Kamara I enjoyed a lot. Good presence and pace in the midfield though you can really feel the bad shooting when he needs anything more than a tap in.

Fekir I just couldnt find a place for. Tried him at CAM and CM but he just ended up out wide left as a body really. Got the same return as Chekri in 2 goals. Chekri is very good for a "74" and didnt feel too out of place in the run, but he does lack that proper high end quality the front 2 have.

In all it took me 9 games to get the 8 wins with one being an opponent leaving after coming from 2-0 down to 2-2. I'm now solidly into Division 2 but we are now hitting the stage where the team does in fact make a significant difference. I've started running into the high end meta a lot now.

I sold the new boys back on for no loss after tax, though I'm not really sure where to go next. I'll have near 400k by the weekend to hand.

I've been neglecting the Future Stars objectives, so rattled through Chukwueze last night and it wasn't too taxing. I'd pretty much made my mind up that I'd give Gouiri a miss - I haven't run a French or Ligue 1 squad all year, and I don't really have a club stocked full of players to make him work in a team.

However, I've had a fair bit of free time today so thought maybe I'll give it a start and see how it goes. It took me almost 20 minutes to find my first game, and despite scoring inside 10 minutes, my opponent was keen to play the whole match (fair enough, I'd probably do the same). After a full length win, I was searching for almost 15 minutes before I packed it in. Too much time for a player that I doubt I'll use.

Seriously surprised at how long it took to find a game for the Ligue 1 squad though - I knew some of you had similar issues earlier but thought it may have evened out now the objective is nearing the end.

So far have played 6 games. All 6 have been against peoples seemingly strongest team. At least 1 meta Icon or TOTY in each. So far sit at 4-2.
I've found it's not so much the meta attackers that are the issue. Seeing a Kante or flashback Varane is much worse. You can't really run by them but the downside of these silvers bar KDB really, is their passing.

From that team, Elanga is class. KDB will score if you get him space and the RW kid seems great too. Cyprien and Joelinton do what they say on the tin, but Pogba. Boy is he crap. Way too slow and clunky. Defence holds up okay for what you're up against, but that Henry is a different kind of speed.

The only card I think I've not done is Welbeck and he might be able to fix some of the issues in the team. Might have to get him in instead. It would also give me options beyond the 4-3-1-2 which I've pretty much been forced to run.

Just finished off the remaining games. Ended up 7-3. Picks contained Gunther and Rudiger. Team definitely felt better with Reinier immediately on for Pogba.

To be honest I had no idea what to expect going into the weekend. First one of the year with a silver team and I'm happy with that. Two of the losses I'd likely not been able to stop with a full gold team, but one I could have. The guy was 4-0 up at HT and I came back to 4-3 but hit the post twice in the last 5 mins.

Interestingly most fodder is on its ass right now. As such Mkhitaryan is now down to near 200k on the nose. He's tough to link without Icons/full Serie A, but that seems very well priced right now.

Went on to do a couple of challenges and ended up finishing Tammy in one go. About half of the people left after I scored so it wasn't too bad. I did have a couple of the longer ones where someone wont leave after 3 or 4 goals. At that point I'd just let them score with their English guy and just put the pad down.

After that out of curiosity I looked at how far into the Prime Icon pack I could get with my fodder. Given there's a couple objective players I wouldn't mind losing and the likes of Di Maria and Alaba as high rated fodder too, I can actually knock off the 87 and 84 squads.

I could probably get most of the way there on the 86 squad too, but it would almost completely clear me out. Debating if it's worth it. Especially when I know I can get Mkhitaryan for what I have already.

After getting 7-3 in qualy I still needed that one win, so into WL proper I went with my merry band of silvers. First game I was putting up a decent fight, but he had TOTY Messi.
I'm not sure if anyone still watches Nepenthez here but he abuses the green timed finesse from angles outside the box. This guy was doing just that and my keeper stood no chance.

Thankfully the second match brought me up against a crossing merchant. He was only going down the side Henry was at to get the cross in. Had he figured out to do down the left and swing it in to CR7 against him, I'd have likely been toast. Picked him off on the counter as he got more and more attacking and the 8 win player pick was mine.

Ended up with a choice of Lafont and Ito. I have the latter as an IF anyway so in comes Lafont. I've heard nothing but good about him so he might go straight into the team and we'll see how I get on in the last 18 games.

That Ndombele is actually quite a let down. If you get past his high dribbling stats, he does have good passing, but his pace and physicals have barely been touched. His stamina and workrates don't lend him well to what you'd want him for in a B2B player.

This all suggests there should be a player pick SBC out. Help to craft some of this.

Sadly I did not. I was gifted a win earlier in the run, as well as another guy who loaded with all bronzes and then kicked it out of play to quit without gifting.

That told to be crucial. Made it to 13-6 but the team I saw when it loaded up immediately filled me with that "oh no" feeling. Maradonna, R10, TOTY CR7, Vieira and mid Pele along with their friends.
He was the most bizarre player though. He was one of the best attackers I've faced this year, yet he couldn't defend at all. The kicker was his star players helped him in a few places.
I was 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2 up on him, but he scored effortlessly from every kick off. Eventually found myself 6-4 down and gave it a late switch to 3-4-1-2 constant pressure. I got 2 goals back quickly and lumped it back post at the death, only for Origis header to crash against the under side of the bar. Once we got to extra time it was done. He brought Eusebio on off the bench and that was more than enough to overpower my knackered defence.

Finished 13-7. Thankfully there isn't actually too much difference from 11 wins to 14 in rewards.

Some thoughts after the run. Salah(8 and 2 in 18) and Mane(4 and 2 in 18) felt okay, but I suspect I'd need the juiced versions of them to be effective given we're now in March.
Origi felt very good starting. A finisher on him and he's surprisingly agile, though you'll never escape some of the clunk. Guendouzi is amazing. Everything you want in a box to box guy. Kamara is a decent compliment but has a lot more holes in his card.
Lafont often bailed me out big time. He's so very good. Alaba was suspect, but he's the only one on lower chemistry so I'm not sure what to think of that. Mendy also can go in the bin.
Greasy is the best player in the team.

As expected no Mbappe in the reds or in my TOTW pack. Did get Dembele(he was in all 3!) and 2 x 84s. Nothing much out of the packs either but for a MOTM card. All told probably up to about 450k once I sell the guys back I think. Good to be back in the saddle!

These SBC players have been a bit meh since Mkhi. I'll still likely get him finished, but for example, Timber looks fun, but under the hood is actually worse than Teze. And he came out over 2 months ago.

Did the UEFA Marquee Matchups for the token and ended up with some stuff to put back into player picks. Got a dupe Sule TOTW(had him packed, in my totw pack and in a red pick before this) so decided to make a start on Mkhitaryan and noticed I had enough to finish him. So I did for free. Also knocked off Timber after noticing he had a strong link to the Martinez RTTF card we were given the other week.

Got enough to put stuff back into one last pick and got Doku in one. He's only like 20k but having a first owner one is nice. Also great super sub material.

I'm annoyingly getting to that stage where I need to fully commit to a team somewhere. The way things have fallen so far, it makes sense to go full Ligue 1 or start on Serie A. If I stay Ligue 1, that Ndombele card actually makes an irritating amount of sense to complete. The only other CM types in the league are either past SBCs I didnt do, or players currently available that are about 3x his price(Fofana, Tchouameni etc).

The attacking side of my team is doing well, but I need help defensively really. That's what cost me in clutch moments this past weekend. Now I can rectify that with Swaps picks. The two biggies are Cafu and PIM Cannavaro. Both would massively help my team but obviously I can only take one.

Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit. I knew it was bad when the flares popped. When I saw Italian I prayed for Pirlo but nothing doing.

I took him into WL Playoffs to test him out. He feels more outdated than most of the Russian tanks rolling into Ukraine. Even with a catalyst he’s so slow and he can’t pass. Ended up replacing him in every game with Kocku new POTM card and that is genuinely outstanding. Depending on how good my opponent was how early he came off. Sometimes after 20 minutes.

Ended up 8-2 in play offs. A loss against someone with all of your top icons. I left 3-1 down after 40 mins. I cba with skill move spammers. The second was a very suspicious loss against a full silver promo team. That one felt very much like my team was running in treacle. Nothing from the packs but German TOTW with a billion pace. Ran it back through the picks and got Toney. Not too shabby.

Sheriff reckons we're getting a Ramos birthday SBC, but we'll see. Still waiting on a lot of supposed SBCs he's said will come and haven't.

Still, team 1 is done and I think we're going to have a reversal on how the next set lines up. I think the team will be pretty meh itself. Maybe the standout player is someone like a 92 rated Dybala with 5* WF. But I expect the rest of the team to be decent players but nothing mad.

I think instead this week will see the SBCs kick up a notch. We'll also likely see some popular keeper get 5* skills in an objective mode that requires you to use 11 keepers. Someone like a Neuer with that would be lol.

Reason being is everyone and their dog is going to have 7 x 86 and higher rated cards coming. Like for me, losing all of that fodder for Gattuso was a bit crap but I can almost instantly replenish it between that pack and the Swaps 25x packs if I wanted to. I reckon because everyone will have fodder they'll make some of these SBCs very expensive too.

He feels silky smooth on the ball and I'm looking forward to unleashing him in WL.

The Nuno Mendes pull has made me do a rethink on my token plans. I wanted Ansaldi but now there seems little point. Aside from aggression, Mendes has him beat hands down across the board.

Ansaldi does have 5* WF which is great, but as a full back 4 should be more than fine. His defensive workrates also mean he's probably better at CB or CDM. It's quite annoying there isn't a team 2 player pack/pick.

After the MOTM cards are out of packs and we get mini-release 2, I'd like to open the 86+ x 7 pack and see how things are. I'd say I'm unlikely to get a birthday card, but any chance to get Mbappe, Messi or something else usable in, would be great.

So you get given those milestone packs at the end of each season? I thought I'd already had them.

Knocked up to 11-5 or so yesterday and gifted the rest as the difference between 11 and 14 is hardly anything. Didn't want the stress of falling a game short like last week. Seems like 13/14 wins will be about my level on this.

Got 3 x 84s in my TOTW pack as well as the german LB with a billion pace again in the ultimate. Reds were Toney, Bizot and an MLS 84. Ultimately a bit crap. Up to 500k with about 7 TOTWs in my trade pile with stacks of 83s too. The glitch is almost in my price range now.

Sounds like we're getting Quaresma tonight. Should be double 5* but given he's in a crap league that should discount the price. I'm expecting a 83 + 85 type cost. Should be a great card but his gold card has like 50 stamina. If this one has over 80 I'll be impressed.

I'm right at the tip of Div 1. I'm going to try and push tonight but my team is quite unbalanced. Biggest thing I'm noticing is the need for a defensive upgrade. I am struggling with the bigger bodied ST now.

Relegation is shit, but I've grinded tonight. Got myself into Elite division but seem to yo-yo above and below 1800SR. Some of these people who play in here are nuts.

I'm also now 16 games from the 90 game milestone. Not sure I have that in me tbh. Either way there should be some good packs to open Thursday. I'm holding off on Ramos until I see a potential price on Mbappe. What'll likely happen is he'll be 2m+ and then I'll just go back and do Ramos.
