2-0 start including a 9-1 and 6-0 win. Though my connection is horrible and I've had the red error thing atop my screen through most of both games. I'm now 99% sure it's my ISP. Unfortunately I'm stuck with them for a little bit longer. What's causing it is everyone is at some point through the day using a device. Sometimes it's only 1 or 2 but there are times all 5 in the house are on something, such as now.

Still, I'm starting to get used to doing the little things that can help win you a game or two more of a weekend. Defending with your CB is a big no no unless you really have to. I'm just getting that now. Using the bridge dribble also wrecked those 2 opponents. I need to do that more.

I was also thinking of a long term project. Unfortunately Cannavaro is only there for 23 days now. I was thinking Project Kaka. He'd also link Neymar in eventually when I can afford him.
There's only really 6 parts to his SBC when you think about it. With 7 weeks left I could potentially knock off a segment at a time each week and get him.

I should really not play so many games in a sitting but I had to rush them through. Ended up 17-7. I could feel myself playing rushed but I was getting more and more tired and kept switching off to it.

I left 3 games because I went down to multiple early goals. If time were on my side I'd have stayed and fought as I always do, but it was not. It felt daft staying on 16 wins so I pushed on.

My picks were all 81 rated shit. The reds I earn next weekend though will bring me enough to do the 86+ upgrade.

Found WL on Sunday very tough, coming up against some solid players and lots of Neymar and Mbappe, which was not a lot of fun. Scraped my way to 11-8 and called it a night. TOTT Immobile is pretty lethal though - 24 goals and 17 assists in the 19 games with him.

I'm back working on the Icon Swaps now and last night was a real toxic mess. Two opponents left after I dragged it back to 1-1, and then I lost 6-5 to someone who had 5 shots on target to my 21 (!) mainly thanks to Nick Pope once again proving he is an utter glitch in this iteration of FIFA.

Found myself in a bit of a hole when it comes to where to take the team next. I run this now:

My 2 problem spots are LB and CDM. Though I am down to 10k in coins. Mendy was once the most expensive player in the team, now he has seen everyone around him upgraded. Unfortunately there just aren't many great LB options out there. The one I am tempted to do is put in Sinkgraven. He is quite a bit better than Mendy at everything, bar physically and 5* WF.
However that leads me to the 2nd positon. My defensive minded midfielder. I currently use Wijnaldum and the game has really caught him up of late. Zakaria looks an amazing CDM but linking all of that together would be a problem.

The links thing is what lead me to look at an Icon project long term. Carlos would solve a lot of problems but EA were tosspots and cut the time way short on him. Same for Cannavaro.
This has turned me towards Kaka. He has the longest time left and looks to have the longest shelf life of those there. The problem is that I don't want to start doing that card and figure out only too late that I can't finish 1 or 2 of the last SBCs. So yeah, I feel in a bit of a hole.

I also may have judged Suarez too soon. He's come off the bench twice for me and he has scored winners. I'm actually tempted to punt Aouar and use him as a CAM in the 3-5-2. That does however massively throw the starting lineup off.

He's great at everything and him being fixed to 4*/4* helps too. He's even a good FK and penalty taker. He just doesn't have that burst to get away.

An Engine or a Catalyst seems best to me. The former makes his dribbling essentially perfect while the latter makes his passing perfect but adds a bit of extra pace.

Been using a bunch of Icons in this Suarez Objective. Done about a third of it and used the following:

MATS
Zanetti - meh, replaced with Tavernier
Hierro - meh, replaced with Klaiber
Cannavaro - awesome. Really strong and reads the game well. Makes me want to do his SBC
Bob Carlos - great. Rapid and great in both directions
Figo - surprisingly great. Good finisher, pops up in nice spots
Maradona (97) - really shit, couldn't pass and very one-footed. Dropped for Kante
Zidane (91) - immense
Kaka (91) - also a bit shit. Weak and average passing. Dropped for O. Dembele
Henry (90) - got him out of the Icon SBC. Just can't get on with him. Should be great but is terrible. Will sacrifice into Cannavaro quite possibly

As for the TOTY midfielders it's very odd. KDB highlights it but the TOTY boosts just aren't there this year. Kimmich for example is stellar, but he should be god tier.

I still need to do the England & Brazil icon swaps so thought I'd do a game or two just now.

First game I went 1-0 down and we played on. As soon as I equalised he paused and quit.

Second game I went 1-0 down and the guy paused for me so we had a 40 second break. I promptly equalised and he walked.

Thankfully in the third I went 1-0 up this time and the guy decided to walk.

First two didn't take any games from me but it's insane. I usually quit at 2-0 (assuming my opponent hasn't paused for me at all) although if I feel I've been unlucky and the game is there for the taking I'll stick around.

I had some really fun games the other day with my crappy La Liga squad which were pure attacking fests.

I'm about tonight for a quick match - had to really grind out the WL as I'd left it all to the Sunday evening once again.

It was an up and down session of WL for me as I started pretty well and got to 8-3. The next 4 were utterly demoralising as I narrowly lost each one, including throwing away a 4-1 lead in one particular game. I then recovered from 8-7 to get to 11-8, and this run included the wackiest game of WL I've had. A 9-9 draw in a match where neither of us could defend for toffee. I missed my first 2 penalties in the shootout and thought it was all over, but managed to save his last 3 and seal a narrow but much-needed win.

I took a chance to continue to 14 (this was at about 4am) and thankfully won each of my next 3, with two early rage quits, and I was able to sign off at 14-8.

I'm feeling it again now though. Today is going to be a bit of a write-off.

I know I wont get one, but it's a dilemma for me. I'd want the Bundesliga players more, but my team would have a direct plug and play value with any potential TOTY.

Raced through the remaining Icon Swap objectives in the past 2 days, as well as doing this week's Silver Star. Hidden gem has been Andrich, the fairly slow German CDM. Honestly doesn't feel sluggish and has been all over the field in the holding role, I'm really enjoying using him for various objectives.

By completing the final Icon Swap tokens, I got to the magic 12 token mark and opened up my Mid Icon pack this afternoon...

It was Overmars. Pretty underwhelming, but it could have been even worse. He's about 320k but the stats look quite good, and he has some decent reviews. Should at least allow me to finish off a nice Dutch hybrid squad.

The blue walkout trolled me hard last night. I gave up on the Bundesliga upgrades and went back to EPL and got Ederson but in the next back got another walkout with a blue background and thought I'd done it. It was even worse that it was Sterling who walked out.

After searching through to see if I had any more packs for milestones or SBCs available I found I haven't done any of the League/Nation hybrid SBCs. I think after those are done and cycled through, I'm dry.


I've picked up some decent fodder for an SBC or two. For example I reckon I could get the top rated squad for an Icon done or maybe someone like Bruno, but I don't have the rest of it to back it up and finish it before time expires.

Dybala and Boateng look obvious ones, though we're surely due a midfielder tonight(Muller?) but Boateng would only really fit in if I had TOTY Neuer/Davies/Kimmich to justify him. I'd at present have to put gold Davies there and he'd be a downgrade.
Dybala would provide me a strong link to CR7 but then he would cause issues further back in the chemistry. Both of these cards look nuts though.

The other option is to gamble. Either on Bruno to get him done in time(and gamble that he gets a winter refresh) or take it to a base/mid icon upgrade. The problem with the latter is there's a lot of cards there that would make it so I was better off just discarding the stuff I put into the SBCs.

So I now have 175k coins and a pretty much empty club. Fabio ends in 9 days so I can't just ride the champs rewards to him. I'm going to need some bloody good luck to even afford him now.

So my choice is try to put in one section now, then pray over the next 9 days that I can get enough in to finish the last one. Or I can abandon ship and cut my losses. Maybe do that Dybala and let it go to the FUT Gods to decide.

Tried this out in a WL game and won 5-2.

Guy was a lot better than me but the team feels really good on the counter. Opponent tried to limit Neymar as much as possible so didn't get to use him much (I ended up moving him up front in one of my tactics) which is a bit of a shame but he did manage to tuck away his only chance.

Got my 50th win in rivals and got a 100k pack. It was one of the worst 100k packs I've seen (Callejon and 2 83's) but there was a dupe Lib player. Did the semi-finals segment for a Premium Gold Players pack and it contained an IF Benzema.

Had some awful connection going on early doors, but having left all games til Sunday I had to play through it. I had to cobble a team together and bench CR7 and Felix to make it work to my annoyance. Got to the point where I was 4-3, however then things clicked into gear.

I ended up finishing 14-4. New players tried this week were Boateng(90), Sinkgraven(86), Goretzka(84) and Red Ben Yedder(87).

I loved Boateng a lot. He doesn't seem to not win the tackle if he gets there. Sinkgraven is not for me I don't think. He does seem like he'd be the perfect LM in a 3-5-2, but as a defensive fullback I feel he's a little lightweight. I quite enjoyed Goretzka too. I'd love to pick up a big special card of his one day.
Star of the show was the very strange Ben Yedder. I say strange because for a card who has been upgraded 3 times here, his stamina is still shocking. His finishing is also a little odd. I don't feel like he hits the ball very hard at all, yet it's always tucked into the corner. I did need to haul him off around the 70th minute a lot though.

My answer to my earlier conundrum was to leave Dybala. He looks a great card, but I have a lot of nifty attackers as is. I'm also sure we wont be short of any via SBC or whatnot soon. I left him because I saw a path to complete Cannavaro. I have now done all but one 86 squad of his. It will cost 200k but the solution I've seen had a random 90 rated card dropped in, so if needs be I can mark off 65k by throwing in either my untradeable Salah or Suarez. Leaves me needing 135k, of which I already have 20. 30k for my champs finish and a push to Rivals Rank 1 would see another 75k added. I'd only need to find 10k from those packs and I should be golden. Just.

He's had nothing but legal troubles in Holland hasn't he? Makes sense he'd go back to get a fresh start. I'm not sure it kills the card as he should in theory still upgrade should Ajax make it through. A bit like showdown cards going up even if the player doesn't play, but I'm not sure if there's precedent on it or not. He's just hit 199k now.
