Balde's weak foot would give him the edge over Raphinha too.

It's out of Kante / Bruno / Fred / Fabinho / TAA / Pogba and could probably chuck in Sissokho / Firmino / Scholes / Gattuso and Bergkamp as other options. It would certainly make 93 Mendy easier. I’d love him as an alternative to Payet, albeit it would necessitate some position change / tactics shenanigans that I hate doing to keep Osimhen on full chem then. Saying that, Osimhen is good enough on 8 chem anyway... I just hate having to use up tactic slots on swapping around.

This is annoying. Had he come out before I did Militao, I’d likely have taken him and ran Modric on 8 chem, but there’s no benefit to Kimpembe over Sarr or Militao. Little salty he got it, given Sarr was out only a week or so ago.

Managed to fly through Kubo and Ibrahimovic on Thursday and Friday thanks to my sudden increase in time at home (:moop:), and I did the Kimpembe SBC pretty much immediately as he looks to be one of the best CBs in the whole game. I also unlocked the 91 Bruno and 89 Mendy. I redeemed my WL entry too, but it got to 8:30pm last night and I still hadn't played a game.

One marathon session later and I ended up 11-8. It could have been an even more impressive record, but two opponents quit on me at 0-0 after I'd been dominant in the opening 10-15 minutes which was a bit shitty.

We really need some type of day 1 card in this game. Having a card from the beginning and the more you play, the better the card becomes. You have challenges you need to complete, just like you do now with mendy. You can get the card to 99 if you play long and hard enough

The UI is fucking hideous, though. And it tooltip-ing me to death every time I go to a new screen is a nightmare of not trusting people to have enough brain cells to work shit out. I've been gaming for a long time, dickheads, I will happily press buttons and choose menu options to see what they do and if either I'm too thick to work it out or your menus are such an overdesigned piece of shit that it's not clear have a button that takes me to a help screen if I choose.

On the plus side it seems to play a reasonably fun game of football aside from the awful fight-the-reticule set pieces.

The opposite. Last year it was so broken they nerfed it beyond belief. There is no point crossing the ball more than 3 ft off the ground and if you do, dont head for goal. More chance of platting piss than it going in.

Ive run high Mbabu at CB for the past week and he is good. You would never think he was on 7 chem. With his 99 built-in pace and big body type, that is all you need. The rest of the stats are irrelevant. Full backs at CB to save coins is definitely the right way to go as they all have the pace.

I could do with another RB who is better on the ball over TOTS Carvajal. His high/high work rates on join attack is really good. He is up and down all game, his dribbling on the ball lets him down though.

I'm mostly farting about playing people I know with this but have done a little Ultimate Team and I declare it to be largely bollocks. Nearly MMO levels of "do a shitload of busywork in the hope of getting something shiny." I can see why it's popular, I have done some of said busywork in the hope of getting something shiny, but that doesn't mean it's not a bit rubbish.

It also somewhat undermines it's own "build a dream team premise" early doors by wanking on about how much better everything will be if you get players in the team who have CHEMISTRY because they share a hairdresser and hump the same glamour models. It's basically that dickhead in a dream XI conversation who goes "yeah but as if Zidane and De Bruyne would work in a 442" but turned into an entire game mode. And yes I see you can apply consumables to get around that but again, that falls back into the busywork thing.

I could also rant a good bit more about the UI having found more irritating things since my last post about it but I'll contain myself.

For balance, I do enjoy the actual games of football for the most part. The hilariously scrappy goals that weren't possible in the football games of my youth are a joy. I also twatted a free kick off the post and in off Manuel Neuer's arse the other day and if that's not worth another couple of marks out of ten I don't know what is.

I've come to realise that some of it is probably that I'm playing on PC rather than the other side of the living room on a big screen but everything seems like it's spread across about four times as many screens as it needs to be rather than one screen having 4 or 6 "menu" options on it. But I'd just expect this series to be slick as fuck by now but I went to play a game online the other day, fired the invite out and the person came into the game and were then told that they had a player out of contract or an injury or something. Sure, no bother, hit the B button 28 times to get back to the main menu to move to the squad, fix that and if you're new and don't realise you can easily check for other stuff you then get another invite and go back in. It THEN tells him "Oh actually there's another thing we need you to do as well before you can use your existing squad." Great, cool, no way you could have put that into the initial message saying we'd missed something? No? Okay cool.

Then you've got how it seems to either give you far more information than you could possibly need or none at all. And it seems to explain the things you could work out for yourself, but then when you're in your umpteenth Squad Building Challenge sub-menu when it starts vomiting acronyms and game-modes at you without telling you what is involved in any of these things but feels the need to point out that "HEY PLAYING PLAYERS IN THEIR CORRECT POSITIONS IS A GOOD THING OKAY?" I feel like it explains the stuff I could happily work out for myself and doesn't on the things that could prevent me from having to waste my time or Google.

And finally, the most heinous crime of all, I keep turning off the soundtrack because every single song on it is a hate-crime against my ears and no matter whether I save my settings or whatever it comes back on every cunting time I start the game up.

There's more that isn't immediately coming to mind right now. I'll remember and post after I next finish playing with more as I find them. I'd hate to spare you my fascinating insights.

Busiest day of FIFA for a long time for me. Finished off Coman, Roussillon, 93 Mendy and 94 Bruno throughout the day using just one squad with no subs needed and it was fairly plain sailing. 92 Bruno was so good that I'm really looking forward to using the 94 in Weekend League, possibly as a starter if I can fit him in.

This is 100% of the way to play this game. Forget your nuclear-quasar Lionel Pele cards, get yourself a 77 rated Tobias Strobl card. It really is quite magical.

Also a newbie to this, and share many of the same opinions that Ian has at the moment. I do wonder if it was sold as having LSD spiked referees? I've had about four bizarre decisions each match. My favourite being the time I was running clear and a defender performed what can only be described as a full force flying attempt to bum Kevin Volland into another dimension with triple pike and forward dismount, and poor Kev got the booking for it (and presumably will never find a man to marry him now he's been spoiled). I've also only managed to score one goal in rivals, and that got disallowed after the ref decided to bring it back to give me a freekick after the opposition goalie booped into my striker after the ball had already been sent past him and was about to cross the line. If Derek Rae didn't exist, I'd be rage quitting after each match.

Right now with the amount of special players in packs and the price of the market in general 5k packs are pretty good. I made some coins on those the other week without much effort.

All players would sell (wingers/FBs from big leagues/popular nations sell nicely) some of the chem styles and position changes are expensive too.

Earlier in the game cycle there's lots of value in doing the bronze pack method (essentially buying a load of 400 coin bronze packs and selling off the players of value for >400 in total). There's enough demand for them (say the Saudi ones as they're in a league SBC), but right now there's not much demand as most people have done them. Danny's suggestion of buying gold packs is a decent option right not but higher risk as a few dud 5k packs will probably bankrupt you at the moment.
