The local alternate pub near me has only gender neutral bathrooms. The stalls go in this order seat always up, seat alway down, seat always up, seat always down etc.

Not a piss trough in sight as well.

That’s just crying out for some to piss all over all the seats.

Because you literally never interact with them in real life so your entire concept of them is formed by the headcases that get into the news. Loads of them do.

Oh no, you see them too and they seem to be increasing. I love sending the FoH back out to inform them that the veg has honey in it so where do they stand on bees and the chips have palm oil so where do they stand on that. It makes me sound clued up but really I'm just being pedantic because a vegan diet differs wildly from my own.

Then again...flexitarians can fuck right off because it shouldn't even be a 'thing'.

I've told this story before but the only transgender I've met almost refused to open their door to greet me. I was only asking if any of my post had turned up at hers. Rather than open the door like a normal person, she kept it locked and talked through the letterbox until she realised I wasn't there to point at her or something.

I had a driving instructor show up as either Brian or Una before he/she passed away a few years ago. For me it was far more ballsy to come out then than now but I do sympathise with the lass you're talking about, probably made all the harder with all the other supposed genders springing up.

No kidding a week or two ago my cousin in Ohio said a friend of his I met had decided he was now "Daisy" instead of "David". He's also married with a wife. Er, she. I really don't mind calling folks by their preferred pronouns or whatever the fuck because I believe in the idea that people should do whatever the fuck they want so long as they don't hurt anyone.

Anyways, I guess she came out as a transgender woman and was subsequently fired from her job.

I've met both her and the wife before and they were honestly very nice, lovely people. Just an interesting dynamic I never really thought of before.

Ironically, the only other transgender person I ever met was also in the same area (just across the bridge into West Virginia) as another one of my cousin's friends worked at the local comic book shop and sure enough was a "her" despite you know, seemingly not be.

I would have imagined living in Florida where things that seem out of the ordinary compared to the rest of the country are pretty normal it would be a more common occurance, but perhaps the passerby's just pass better? I don't know.

Ironically, the first gay man I ever met in person was also up north in the Ohio/West Virginia area and again one of my cousin's friends. That was the early 2000s, though, of course, where being gay was still a huge deal.

I have to say for the longest time I never really had time for these folks in the sense of "ok dude is it really that serious wear some panties and a skirt if you want" but nowadays I guess I'm a bit more empathetic to the idea that it is actually something to struggle with rather than just a fashion choice or whatever.

I had a lad working for me over here for 2 years. Born a chick, identifying now as a guy (but kinda still looked like a chick with short hair). His girlfriend also worked in the company. He didn't mention his gender once in 2 years, was never offended when people referred to him as 'she' - which unfortunately, I did quite a lot - however, i tended to correct myself and carry on.
I then met a similar guy (former girl) on a night out with a few mates - and it was the most painful 2 hours ever. Just constant rabbiting on about himself, about life's injustices and how basically everybody else in the world was to blame - that may be true, unfortunately, I had already established that he was a bit of a tit - so wasn't that bothered.

I don't know what the point of this post it.

Fyi. The apeshits up in Dublin council are spending 23 million on a white water rafting facility, during a housing crisis. To build one house in Dublin, 2019 according to the independent is 200k. So they could have built 115 houses with that money. For scale. That's equivalent to a housing estate for 115 homeless families.

Where’s the fun in that though?

I did think that was fucking bonkers when I first saw Billy Porter being hoisted shoulder high for comparing straight actors playing gay to a white actor blacking up. Take that to its inevitable conclusion and acting ceases to exist, because only a forty six year old retired competitive windsurfer can play a forty six year old retired competitive windsurfer.

It's been coming for a while, but the point at which I noticed the extreme willingness of minority groups to cut off their face to spite their nose in this arena particularly was when they torpedoed that film about a questionably transgender criminal because Scarlett Johansson had taken the role instead of a trans actress, as though a film on that subject gets made on a ninety million budget without some serious star power involved. So the film dies, and all the supporting roles that could have gone to trans performers and helped build a couple towards being genuine stars die with it.

Bill Bryson (admittedly many years ago) once discussed our uselessness at reporting what's going on in other countries by comparing how often a given newspaper had headline about them and other things. I believe at that point we were broadly as interested in Aussie current affairs as we were in bananas.

Probably a bit better now with all the internet and 24 hour news and whatnot to fill.

Crowds are being told they may need to enter the water if the flames continue to head their way.

It doesn't look like it but this picture was taken in the daytime. The Victorian coastal town of Mallacoota woke up to a blood-red sky this morning.

As Mallacoota waits, send a message of support to those affected by the fire emergency

Dangerous driving usually gets pretty harsh sentences where we are - it’s not uncommon to see people get a few years, even if it’s just causing serious injury rather than actually killing someone.

You’ve got to go some to get put in prison for a punch, on the other hand- most ABH & GBH get community sentences.

The sentences hardly ever seem to tally with what happens. That Polish lorry driver got ten years for wiping a family out because he was on his phone. Two and a half years per life, because he was mis-using potentially dangerous equipment. It's hard to imagine sentences being that light in any other context.

Presenter Samira Ahmed has won the employment tribunal she brought against the BBC in a dispute over equal pay.

Ahmed claimed she was underpaid for hosting audience feedback show Newswatch when compared with Jeremy Vine's salary for Points of View.

The judgement said "her work on Newswatch was like Jeremy Vine's work on Points of View under section 65(1) of the Equality Act 2010".

This whole case baffles me.

The different profiles of the shows and the presenters only should make it obvious that they're not likely to be paid the same.

Besides that though she was paid exactly the same as the previous host of Newswatch Raymond Snoddy, so what has this got to do with sex discrimination?

My mate was briefly dating this girl who had been a massive weeb. She'd heard and dismissed all the nasty rumours about all that stuff, understandably assuming it was just racist bullshit. Once she was there on her big dream Japan trip, she'd been sat in this cafe with just her at one table next to a table of 4 businessmen and nobody else in the place except staff at the other end. She thinks they were speaking openly because as a black girl they just assumed she couldn't speak Japanese. Anyway, supposedly she overheard an exchange where one businessman told the rest that he still bathed his 14 year old daughter, and the rest just openly went like "OMG YOU'RE SO LUCKY I'M SO JEALOUS", and he just sorta winked smugly at them. I'd like to think it was just dark bantz, but she didn't think so, and it basically completely soured her on the country and she came home depressed and no longer a weeb.

Asian people don't do banter, so that story is damning.

There do fire takeaways though.

Reading some of the stuff about the Jeremy Vine tribunal and loving that one of their arguments was that he has a glint in his eye.

Should've been case closed really.

Chat about football or cricket in the workplace should be curtailed, a management body has warned.

Chartered Management Institute head Ann Francke said sports banter can exclude women and lead to laddish behaviour such as chat about sexual conquests.

"It's very easy for it to escalate from VAR talk and chat to slapping each other on the back and talking about their conquests at the weekend."

Yeah, because that happens all the time.

Isn't assuming that football talk excludes women sexist in and of itself?

Should women therefore not be allowed to talk about their major interests at work that exclude men?

A certain type of mainly boomer woman (my mum is one) goes into a psychotic frenzy if anyone talks about sport in their earshot. They don't accept the idea that it's s legitimate field like art or books, they think it is literally a pointless waste of time.

Does this mean the women in the office aren't allowed to talk about any Reality TV or Soap Opera bollocks?

Work should be an environment where only work is discussed and who has put fish in the microwave.

Actually, fair point. If the trade-off is that I don't have to listen to talk about Love Island or that latest diet you've all started but none of you are going to stick to them I'm more than happy to give up talking about sport.

Should be grounds for instant dismissal.
