It's probably just as simple as wanting to be in the same city as his mate Hugo Viana.

Are R Madrid the most small time big club in the world? Sorry but Vinicius hasn’t even been that good. To be fair to Rodri he’s been the most important player in the City team that won a treble 18 months ago and was probably Spain’s best player at the Euro’s.

It’s not exactly a massive injustice. Plus it’s a fucking team game anyway.

Martinez winning the best goalkeeper in the world is a good example of this as well. He’s a good keeper and he’s won things internationally but he’s not the best keeper in the world by a long way.

Being insanely entitled is basically their club ethos.

Have they blamed teh racism yet?

On balance, Rodri is probably the best player in the world.

I'm on board for giving it to shitty boring players that happen to win the most trophies for a generation to stop these zoomer primadonnas giving a shit about it and concentrating on winning actual trophies.

Neymar, a once in a generation player, fucked up his entire career to win an individual award that means absolute dogshit. It has to stop.

It's probably nothing to do with Real Madrid per se, it's to do with a small collection of extremely blinkered millionaires having no appreciation for anything that exists outside their tiny gilded bubble. I guess losing 4-0 at home to Barcelona doesn't matter when you can carry on living your truth anyway.

Absolutely record number of doubters being racked up here. Everyone doubts Vinicius junior. No one thinks he's good at football. Not a single person. Doubt doubt doubt doubt doubt.

I don't think it helps these clubs that I'm 99% sure that alot of them have Ballon D'or Bonuses built into their contracts. I can imagine clubs/sponsors love them because they almost certainly don't have to pay out the bonuses but it also creates a perverse incentive.

Is this sort of nonsense why rappers all end up shooting each other? Vini should be thankful that Rodri's crew aren't tooling up to take him out after this level of disrespect.

Nah the rappers all end up shooting each other because they’re dealing drugs worth more than album sales because the record labels take all the money.

There was a story about two scouse players getting crews together to jump each other because one had slagged off the other. For some reason I’m thinking it was Jason Koumas and Jamie Carragher.

Even in court they're putting him over.

edit: I know this story exists but it's impossible to find because you're drowned in a deluge of various footballers getting into brawls whereas I'm trying to find a brawl that was setup and never happened.

Lucas Neill iirc.

Gray Fox
28-10-2024, 11:19 PM
It was Lucas Neill and it was because he broke Carraghers leg in a challenge. The story goes that Carraghers "mates" had found Neill out that night and gave him the call asking he wanted him done in. Carragher said no because he'd come to him apologetic and sorry after the game.

Also the Gerrard one was when he wanted Coldplay on in the nightclub and the DJ lolled at him. Gave it the dont you know who I am and got lolled at again. Scuffle came after, but he was tried in Liverpool for it so he would never have got a fair jury either way.

Not quite

"Did I really want Neill to take a crack? 'There's only one problem,' added the voice. 'Little Davey Thommo is with him.'

"That was that. I could hardly let one of my best mates, David Thompson, now a Blackburn player, become a witness to an assault.

"Besides, he'd have recognised the attackers. The impromptu mission was aborted and I sent a text to Thommo telling him Neill should give him a hug of thanks."

and Gerrard was Phil Collins not Coldplay iirc which is somehow worse.

My mate mugged Neill off for £50 when at the Blackburn academy by betting him at pool, and when Neill claimed it was a fluke my gobshite mate offered to beat him again one handed for money and roundly did (misspent youth in working men's clubs for you). Neill didn't take this very well in front of an audience of his first team colleagues by all accounts.

This might be the laziest appointment of all time by a club that have made something like 5 lazy appointments in a row.

Surely that's Potter or Southgate?

Who wouldn't be lazy, Phil Vickery?

Jimmy Floyd
29-10-2024, 08:15 AM
No, Potter or Southgate would be a lot braver because appointing English coaches is extremely unfashionable.

Regardless, though, it's a bloke who has the right agent and has been flashing his tits at anyone who moves for the last year. From a league where it's impossible to do badly (though he has done especially well, but so did ten Hag). If someone was pissing the Belgian league with Anderlecht, United wouldn't appoint them, would they? Not in a million years, no matter how good they were. Portugal and Holland, though, these are seen as safe havens. It's a lack of imagination. He may do well, but I imagine he won't.

Sporting have kicked on massively when they were pretty far off both Benfica and Porto with a complete basket case in the President and a team no where near good enough. Sporting weren't a guaranteed success. I'm not advocating for him but I think you underplay his success.

The last successful Belgian manager is now the manager of Bayern so maybe we should have. :eyemouth:

The Nwaneri goal is exactly why I’ve been frustrated with Arteta choosing to double down on duel monsters instead of just slotting him into Odegaards position. Kids good.

I think the Mourinho comparisons are overblown but he does Arteta does have a habit of when the chips are down to indulge his worst tendencies.

I was very pleased to see a strong line up and Saka despite the risk, given I expected a load of teenagers when I got tickets.

Given he hasn't settled after no pre season and then that injury, Merino looked class last night. Hopefully he can keep that going against top opposition.

The good thing about Deepdale is for cup ties against big teams they just allocate an entire stand to the away fans, feels very old school and the travelling support blew the home fans away noise wise for 90 minutes.

It's from Sporting's side not United's. There's a 30 day notice period in his contract/Portuguese employment law apparently. Sporting aren't holding him to it in its entirety but want him to stay til the international break. I guess because they have important games coming up before then and it also offers a natural opportunity to bed in a replacement.
