I've no idea how I got to know how it works myself, I think it just came from watching and reading stuff on a Monday. That said I probably don't really understand it any more as it was the BCS system when I used to be able to watch.

ESPN's website is a decent enough place to start for college football news. The 24/7 Sports college podcast, the Stick To Football podcast & ESPN's College Football Live are the three that I have on my podcast subscriptions, and if you want to watch games/highlights there are plenty of channels on YouTube (Ev Fed, as he's currently known, uploads basically every college game each week in full, and rtsportsuploads tends to do a couple of big games in condensed form each week).

It's basically the same game, except you only have to get one foot in bounds on a catch instead of two, they have better safety rules for helmet hits & kickoffs, and anyone half decent will get a billion yards every game because nobody can tackle or cover.

There aren't university soccer teams in England that are near the same scale as a professional team. That's not the case in the US, the college game is huge.

There's a huge difference with a university in the US getting 90,000 in and a huge TV deal to university sports in the UK which consists of 3 men and a dog watching a kickabout.

The play you refer to is called the Fleaflicker. The QB has to pass the ball backwards in order for the RB or WR to then throw it forwards. The downside is if a backwards pass is not caught, it's counted as a fumble and fair game for the defence to go and grab it.

That's what happens when you have contacts that aren't worth the paper they're written on. It probably costs them a $10-25k signing bonus to take a flier on a guy. If they like what they see they've hit a jackpot, if they don't set the world alight, it's easy to write it off.

Given the "what can you do for me now" mindset if the guy comes in and doesn't hit the ground running with the play book or hits a drop/fumble etc. See you later.

Which is why jalen hurts has to transfer. If he thinks he can play in the NFL already then he can play this season, transfer as a grad and play a final season at Texas or someone and then try go pro. There's no way hurts is still on the roster next spring.

If tuas brother is half as good then bama are set for a good few years. Why would any other qbs even consider going there? Career suicide. Go to another power 5 school and actually play.

Right now Jalen Hurts is going to go the same way as JT Barrett & Quinton Flowers, and either be a third string QB or a shit running back at the NFL level. If he has any ambition of playing QB at the next level he has to transfer & show he can actually do the job.
