Realised my
Draft selections were stupid. Had both the raiders and Vikings double dipping on wr so sorted that (with cbs).
Also dropped delpit and threw Jordan love to the saints. Imagine Brees leaves next year and Payton has a mobile qb battle between love and hill.
Yeah, it's going to be 5hrs, easily. I'll stay up for some of it but not sure I can survive the whole night.

Sky has actual draft listed at a 1am start. Settle in for the long night lads.
Oh fucks sake, of course they still have the anthem.

Adverts before they even put the Bungles on the clock ffs.
Dan taking the knee online in this day and age is brave.
Taking a knee on the American healthcare system knowing it'll have to pay to get patched up afterwards
Finally off & running. Hopefully the virtual draft means people don't fuck around dragging out the clock & just get the pick in as soon as it's made, but I won't hold my breath.
They brought back the elite level ESPN 'Burrow goes fishing' graphic
Well I for one am stunned.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 12:27 AM
Holy shit, it wasn't Shane Falco.
Okay, let's start the draft now.
Oh shit, Lions are sticking & picking :uhoh:
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 12:39 AM
I really think the Lions should have traded down.
They could have taken Okudah at 6 easily if not a little lower.
Gotta have someone to trade with. Seems like Miami & LAC are both willing to sit & let the other one be the one to trade up, so should be interesting to see who Miami takes at 5 now. Also lots of talk of Atlanta trading up aggressively, so maybe not worth the risk they find a way to get up to 4 - Jags & Panthers could both have been in play too.
Dave Gettleman is on the clock now
thommo
24-04-2020, 12:43 AM
1:45am and they're 3 picks in. Guess I'm going to have to catch up with a lot of it tomorrow then.
In fairness, that's normal pace, it's just they dragged it out for an additional 15mins before starting the clock.
There's a tiny voice in my head saying 'what if the Saints trade up for one of the three receivers?', and I don't know whether I'd be good with that or not.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 12:48 AM
lol, they took the wrong fucking tackle.
Judge & Gettleman both sitting in almost empty offices :D
Andrew Thomas is a surprise, but he's a stud. He's absolutely a great pick.

True but I thought it was starting at midnight. Had earmarked staying up for the first 16 but that's not going to happen unless we get some quick selections.
Please don't let this be Herbert.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 12:54 AM
Tackle (hoping that Tua slides) or Herbert here.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 12:55 AM

#TankingForTua is finally full circle.
Please don't let this be Herbert.
Now let him be healthy.
Herbert as a top 10 QB?
Where's Falco?
Yep, this has been pretty chalky so far.
God fucking dammit we're going to have to play against Isaiah Simmons twice a year :moop:
Well that's not much better. At least it's only a DT, but he's a beast.
Would've expected Simmons, then Henderson, but Brown makes so much sense - they need help on the line, and Matt Rhule is a huge character guy, so he'll be a really nice fit for them.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 01:12 AM
Cardinals will scoop up Simmons gladly here.
I can't wait to watch them do Kyler/Isabella/Simmons races in practice.
They're fucking coming this season. That division is going to be a war, aside from the Rams, who will probably take six kickings at this rate.
The number of people going 9/9 on their mocks so far must be at an all time high this year.
Cleveland insta-picked :D
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 01:26 AM
The number of people going 9/9 on their mocks so far must be at an all time high this year.
I stupidly switched Okudah and Panthers at the last minute and I had Giants taking Simmons.
Also, I doubt many had Thomas as the first tackle.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 01:28 AM
Wirfs or WR here for Jets I think.
Had them the other way round on my 'board', but these are the best two tackles in the class. Only thing is he's played RT all his college career, so will be interesting to see how quickly he adapts to LT - sounds like the people at Alabama think he can do it fine, and if so he should be a quality starter.
Jets must be jizzing themselves to see two OTs & all three WRs on the board.
EDIT: Nice to see Kittle practicing his promos for his post-NFL run in WWE.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 01:35 AM
lol at Jets going down the Combine route.
Well, I guess that's Chuma Edoga kicked to the curb after a promising rookie season.
EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot they'd switched GMs. Of course the former Eagles guy spends his first pick in the trenches.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 01:38 AM
Bucs/Brady will love Wirfs.
Becton is a rather large gentleman. No chance someone that big should be running at all, never mind that quickly.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 01:41 AM
Al Davis getting that pick in from beyond the grave.
AL DAVIS LIVES!
That's arguably the biggest surprise of the draft so far.
Bucs/Brady will love Wirfs.
:moop:
He'd be disgusting on the 49ers, to be fair. Next three picks are Lamb, Wirfs & Jeudy in some order, surely.
Lol at Ruggs sitting around the house in an Old Spice gown.

Lamb Niners, Wirfs Bucs and Jeudy to the Broncos.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 01:46 AM
Bucs want Wirfs.
Bucs trading up one spot is bizarre, but must mean that someone else was trying to come up ahead of them. No reason to trade the pick otherwise, surely. Either that or San Fran threatened to take him themselves if they didn't pay them.

I've got them taking Ezra Cleveland with their next pick. Wirfs would have been a major upgrade and they have the capital to play with.

RIP the Eagles btw.
Fans desperately hoping that Lamb or Jeudy would drop to them instead one of them will (likely as Falcons don't need a WR) fall to the Cowboys.

Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 02:34 AM
Mayock fucking up again.
Wow, Las Vegas is going to host the 2020 draft!
Double wow, Damon Arnette!!!!
That's the surprise of the draft so far, obviously. He's a nice player, and there was a small bit of first round talk about him for a week or two a while back, but I don't think anyone will have had this one on their mocks. He's got some character issues too, which seems to go against the whole philosophy from last year.
Gray Fox
24-04-2020, 02:40 AM
I wanted Jefferson before the draft started. Given what's happened it's disappointing not to see a trade up to take Lamb. To now have to see him in a Cowboys jersey is doubly bad.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 02:40 AM

Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 02:47 AM
I'd have gone for Jefferson or Mims over Raegor.
Gray Fox
24-04-2020, 02:48 AM
What the fuck was that.
He's a good player, faster than he ran & he's way better going up to get it than you'd expect for a small, fast guy. You'd imagine Jefferson to Minnesota now given they just showed him on the phone.
I'm starting to get anxious about the Saints' pick now :uhoh:

24-04-2020, 02:57 AM

Chargers coming back up, presumably for a tackle.
I'd imagine it would be Josh Jones, but I guess Ezra is still on the board as well.

Niners coming up now. Sounds like it's for a WR - Mims?
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 03:16 AM
Queen still there.
I can see Dolphins taking Swift, Seattle Gross-Matos and then leaving us Queen.
Man, that offence is going to be impossible to tackle. How the fuck are you meant to cover them when they go Kittle, Aiyuk, Deebo, Hurd & Bourne, then keep switching Deebo between WR/RB & Hurd betwen WR/RB & TE?
Dolphins should just take Josh Jones & load up to protect Tua.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 03:22 AM

I have no idea why they traded up to take him too.
Fifth year option, init.
Favre -> Rodgers -> Love and we go on about the Patriots being blessed with elite QB play for decades.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 03:30 AM
They had the 30th pick though.
Or did they keep that when going up?
Oh yeah, forgot about that :D Guess it must've been a defensive trade to stop someone else getting up instead of them (Colts maybe?)
Seahawks sticking & picking almost as big of a surprise as the Damon Arnette pick.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 03:33 AM
Thanks Seattle you absolute mentalists.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 03:34 AM
Patrick Queen, Gross-Matos or Mims I think for us.
I prefer Queen.
Good old Seattle :D
When all the talk of him getting into the first round started we should've known it would be the team that nobody can ever predict.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 03:35 AM

24-04-2020, 03:49 AM
Think we get our first RB here with Swift going to Dolphins.
Yep, saw that one coming.
Dolphins going to fully embrace The Patriot Way by trading this pick back three more times.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 03:59 AM
Didn't see that coming.
I'm amazed Goodell actually pronounced his name pretty well.
Didn't see that coming.
Yeah, that's a surprise considering who's left on the board. Very Patriots-esque on reflection though - they love coverage over pass rush, so why not keep stockpiling CBs, and if you're loading up why not grab one who's an elite athlete?
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 04:03 AM
I had quite a few corners going in the first but not this many.
Gladney is such a Vikings pick. Him, Kris Boyd & Mike Hughes is the scrappiest CB room you could ever find.
Can the Chiefs just not make a pick?
Oh, you can absolutely just fuck right off.
Sir Andy Mahowry
24-04-2020, 04:11 AM

That was a fucking crazy pick.
I mean, is love going to see the field soon enough to pick up his option not on the blind?
I guess they’re assuming Rodgers plays for two and has a shitter enough that he retires or is benched on the 3rd?
Also loved the Texans pick. The best move BoB has made as GM.

What's worse is that they traded another pick (a 4th rounder) to move up to select him.
He was going to be there with your original pick.
Yeah, I've not seen anything about why they felt they needed to trade up for him yet.
You imagine two more years of Aaron, assuming he doesn't throw a paddy & demand a trade, then one year of Love before they're pretty much forced to pick up his option.

His cap figure is pretty damned big for the next 3 years so you kind of assume he's there The next 3. 2022 will be an interesting year as I'd doubt Rodgers would give up his starter role or want to sit as backup, and the cap hit is $17m.
Unless the GM has wind Rodgers fancies retiring in the next two years, it seems they jumped a year or two early.
I actually thought the saints would take him, given brees flirted with retirement.

I thought it was a 2nd rounder. It's bad but not as bad as I thought. Could still pick up a decent receiver in 2 maybe.
The only reasoning I've seen is the assumption on some Twitter feeds they were afraid of the Colts taking him, but he's not even that good a prospect is he? Like the fanboys need some reminding that this isn't a first overall pick falling into their lap like 2005.

He’s frequently put in the Mahomes bucket - athletic, big arm, makes plays off script, not afraid to be aggressive, but needs to sit & learn how to be an NFL quarterback in terms of consistently, discipline & processing.
It’s really unlikely he ends up as good as MVPat, since it turns out he’s actually got an elite football brain, but like Mahomes you’re pretty much relying on the coaching staff & the veteran QB in front of him (lol) to get him to where he needs to be.
Two years of good coaching, a meaningful amount practice reps & actual helpful mentoring from Rodgers would do him wonders, but if you throw him in as he is it could ruin him. Will be one of the more fascinating players to watch in preseason for sure.

Kerryon must be fucked.
Interesting start to day two. Patriots love a stable of RBs, so might be the same in Detroit.
Oh boy! Didn't see that one coming. Wonder if we're going to see a massive run on safeties & running backs this round.
YEET. Him & Brian Burns on opposite sides is pretty spicy.
We're flying through the picks so far.
Funny that they were bigging up Robert Hunt repeatedly from the moment the show started. Almost like they knew he was getting picked this soon :sherlock:
Oh man, I like Marlon Mack but the thought of JT in that offence is pretty nasty. Traded up in front of the Jags to get him too
Sir Andy Mahowry

Delpit could be fun. Gotta think Bucs will take JK Dobbins here, but I guess i could always be Hot Rod.
Delpit looks thrilled that he's going to get juked out by Loomar.

Aww, man, I like Winfield :(

25-04-2020, 12:12 AM
Broncos are just hoping that Lock can stay up with sheer willpower to get it down the field.
Yo, Hamler & Jeudy on the same team is stupid. I can't wait to watch people try to tackle either of them in space.
They're going the 49ers way - throw it five yards & get seventy yards of YAC.
Marlon Davidson & Grady Jarrett :uhoh: Just as well we have an elite line & just spent our first pick in the last two drafts on quality pass protecting interior linemen, I guess.
Seahawks pick  Surprised Taylor went this early, but should be a nice player.
Sir Andy Mahowry
25-04-2020, 12:21 AM
Ahead of Baun and Epeneza though?
Ahead of Baun and Epeneza though?
Falcons wouldn't use someone like Baun the way you'd need to for him to be worth the pick, and probably felt they wanted an interior guy rather than an EDGE guy.
Steelers to take Hurts or Eason, please.

Oh, well the answer for any confusion regarding the Seahawks draft picks is 'because Seattle Seahawks'.

That's the CB equivalent of the DK pick last year. No way he's a late second round calibre player.
ESPN have got to back the fuck off with all the death - every second prospect has had someone die that they immediately feel they need to tell us about.
I bet there are contingents of the Eagles & Packers fanbases that are setting fire to their shirts right now.
Sir Andy Mahowry
25-04-2020, 01:33 AM
They clearly need another runner to go with Jones and Williams.
Also lol at take Willie Gay this high considering his issues.
Chiefs don't give a fuck about off field. Sounds like most of the Gay stuff (lol) is academic rather than him being a bad person. Obviously breaking your QBs jaw isn't a great look, but the talk on him was that he's a good kid otherwise & interviewed well. He'll inevitably be a multi time All Pro now he's in KC.
Panthers trading up for a Matt Rhule alum, surely? The real question is will it be Matt Hennessy (the better player) or James Lynch (the guy he RAVES about)?
I disapprove of the Panther draft so far :uhoh:

They're having a great draft.
Very smart stuff from them.
A linebacker who can play coverage? Not a very Bengals pick.
Ah, fuck you Washington, I wanted Gibson in NOLA. Did they announce him as a WR or RB? Didn't pay attention to what they said. Sounds like WR from the analysis, but he'll do both either way I guess.

Announced as RB.
Why does everyone hate Zack Baun? Gotta love the Okwara reunion though.
Jets getting ready for when they trade Jamaal Adams.

I think G or ending the Baun slide for us.
Baun, Cushenberry & Josh Jones still being available is a big surprise to me.

All a viable option for us.
Sir Andy Mahowry
25-04-2020, 02:00 AM
Justin Madubuike it is.
Didn't think we'd go DT there tbh wit the options there.
Dolphins LOADING UP on defensive backs.
Cardinals getting a steal there. Doesn't have to start if he doesn't need to, since they have Marcus Gilbert, but he could be a good RT for them.
Sir Andy Mahowry
25-04-2020, 02:12 AM
Great pick by the Saints.
Oh, well that's not something I saw coming, to the point where when I mentioned Baun I nearly said 'can't see any way we'd take him'. We're not the typical defence you'd fit him in, but I guess we're pretty willing to mix things up so maybe we'll get some good use from him, but at worst he should be a nice linebacker for us.
Lions taking Jonah Jackson is a pretty good pick too.
Okay Tampa, that's the way you went at RB, huh?
I think we're into the bit where it gets pretty boring now. Not many flashy names left at this point other than the QBs.

So much death in the draft.
Bowden being announced as a RB is interesting.

And as I say that Lynn Bowden gets announced as a running back. That's an interesting one. Raiders looking like another YAC offence with Bowden & Ruggs.
Ruggs, Edwards, Bowden, Renfrow & Tyrell Williams is a pretty decent group of receivers.

Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe, Trysten Hill and Neville Gallimore...
Broncos are just crushing this so far.

Damn, I was hoping Cushenberry would drop to us.

If Lewis can stay healthy that's a great pick.
Greenard is a nice pick for the Texans. Patriots coming up again...

Duvernay
That's Gus & Snead both replaced then.
I look forward to hearing from Giggles tomorrow. I thought Deguara would go R5 at the earliest.
Ian, however, ought to be ecstatic. Don't think they've made a bad pick so far.
Niang could be a bargain this late, sadly.

Packers are having a shocker.
I saw a lot of round 7 grades for him.

OL please.
Straight up, that might be the pick that has surprised me the most (other than Jalen Hurts, obviously). I even had a half second pause where I went 'hang on, do I know who that is' it surprised me that much.
HOW DO YOU HAVE SO MANY PICKS?! Feels like Denver & Baltimore have made fifteen selections between them so far.
No. Stop it. You're not allowed to end up with two guys who could become quality starting LBs.

Hmmm.
Getting very athletic at linebacker.

It has to be Fromm and not another strange pick.
Nah, if they wanted a QB they'd have taken one several trades ago, surely?

Eagles selecting a player who couldn't play Football from Friday night until Sunday night because of his religion is quite lol.
Man, I guess athletic hybrid safeties are the new hotness.
Oh, come on, stop trading up. It scares me every time.

The best TE is finally off the board.
And thank you for taking him just before the Ravens. We must have been getting itchy seeing him slide so much.
Thank fuck, I was worried it was going to be Jacob Eason :D
He'll be a project, but some people had him as the best TE in the class (but then everyone agrees this TE class is historically awful), so hopefully he'll take off now he's not being coached by a science teacher
And there's your big, nasty guard.
Sir Andy Mahowry
25-04-2020, 04:02 AM
A guard \0/.
Just discovered that we have no more 2020 picks now. Can't wait for us to trade away half of 2021 tomorrow.

I wouldn’t know enough about any players to form too much of an opinion, but taking a QB and RB in the first two rounds when you have Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones, Jamal Williams, and the worst receiving group in the NFL is horrendous.
Like Giggles I don't know muchabout the players individually but we've done a lot to help Drew lock so far AND signed a player whose first name is McTelvis so A++ so far.
Just listened to the press conference Howie did to explain the Jalen Hurts pick & I’m convinced they drafted him with the intention of trading him in a few years time.
Yeah, it’s a pretty tough situation for
Hurts. He’s getting well paid to be a backup without any real chance to become the starter unless wentz gets truly crocked. He’s basically just trying to build some tape so he can get a shot elsewhere.
It’s a cynical way to draft and won’t exactly fill hurts with confidence hearing the organisation describe him as an asset.
I think the patriots will stick now, Fromm and Eason aren’t that different to stidham at this point so unless they get them really cheap I think they’ll just take a pass on qb this year and roll with Hoyer/stidham or take a 1 year punt on one of the free agent veterans.
Two brutal qb decisions for the two guys who could’ve ended up on teams with a view to being a starter in 1-2 years. As it is, neither are likely to be starting qbs until year 4 at best.
Bengals up & running with ADG.

Had to give him away in the end. Which one of Staley, McGlinchey & Williams has to play guard/swing tackle though?
Wonder if Staley might've hung it up.

PATRIOTS TRADING UP AGAIN!
No, really, the Clemson Raiders. John Simpson now.
Darnay Holmes to the Giants is a steal, even if they have drafted a billion young CBs in the last two classes. Another branch off the Patriots tree though, so I guess we should've expected it.

True. ESPN coverage has been horrible though, unless you love hearing about which members of their families have died.

Biadasz to fall to us please.
Georgia guard Solomon Kindley to Miami & UCLA RB Joshua Kelley to the Chargers.
Donte Jackson & Troy Pride is the fastest CB pairing in the league - both legit 4.3 guys, not that that really helps you much when you're trying to cover Michael Thomas, Julio Jones, Mike Evans or Chris Godwin.

That smoothie Ben Bartch took every day is disgusting.
Fotu to Arizona is another good pick, Harrison Bryant to Cleveland is interesting given they have two TEs (maybe Njoku will be traded), and Ben Bartsch is a nice developmental pick for the Jags.
DJ Wonnum is a nice pick - would expect to see Minnesota trade up a few times or else they'll be on the clock all day.
If Albert O ever decides to play as fast as he tests that's a great pick. Already played with Lock in college too so should be an easy fit for him.
Not particularly scared by the Mykal Walker pick, to be honest.
Sir Andy Mahowry
25-04-2020, 04:47 PM
Broncos better hope that Lock can stay off his arse and make throws.
LAMICAL NO!!
Stuck behind Le'Veon Bell is not the future I wanted for you :(
Jonah Jackson, Frank Ragnow & Logan Stenberg is a nasty interior line for the Lions.
Does sound like Staley is retiring.
Finally a QB goes - I guess you can't do much more for Jacob Eason than give him Rivers & Brissett to learn from for a season or two.
