Meanwhile, the Seahawks are losing to the Rams again. They're another team who've massively underperformed so far.

In the last five games, going back to the playoffs last season, Denver have allowed Roethlisberger, Brady, Newton (two games) and Luck to throw a combined three touchdowns and amass a collective QB rating of 67.

No doubt a means will be found of making Dalton look like Montana next week now I've said that.

Gray Fox
19-09-2016, 03:58 PM
Credit to McCown for finishing his game against the Ravens. Apparently he's in excruciating pain. Browns down to 1 QB on the roster now.

Torn meniscus.

Speaking of injuries, McCown is out of the game against the Dolphins next week and DeMarcus Ware is out for at least 3 weeks with an ulna fracture.

Sir Andy Mahowry
19-09-2016, 06:46 PM
Jonny Stewart is out for 1-2 weeks and Garoppolo is out for the next game and perhaps longer.

Also, the Seahawks have lost a 5th round pick and been handed some fines:

Sir Andy Mahowry
20-09-2016, 11:56 AM
They're showing the singing of the anthem more because of the Kaepernick thing.

The commentators are even commenting on what players are doing during the anthem.

Three players (Malcolm Jenkins and 2 others) were standing with their arms raised.

One thing that did strike me at the weekend. Certain matches had barely a 3/4 full crowd. It might have been misleading at what stage of the game I saw, but is it a common thing over there?

Gray Fox
20-09-2016, 08:26 PM
Looks like the Chargers have publicly said they expect to lose the City vote on their stadium funding. They're trying to put the pressure on now by making noises about the LA move again.

I honestly don't get it. It's a no brainer to me. Give them the funds. All they'd need is to host one Superbowl in the next 10 years or so and they'd make it back through that alone.

Ian
20-09-2016, 08:38 PM
It's absolute nonsense that NFL teams seem to get stadia paid for by the cities they're in anyway.

Okay so the city or state or whatever argued that they'd put up things like hotel tax so they could cover the revenue but not punish local people or whatever it was they claimed but it's still rubbish.

You're not short of money, lads. Build your own fucking stadium.

Gray Fox
20-09-2016, 08:44 PM
It's mad. I'm sure it's $350 million from the City/State and then the NFL themselves would throw another $250 million in.

Surely you can build a state of the art 90k seater stadium complex for that? Look what Football teams do in Europe. The Emptihad cost £110m at the time. Imagine if they'd had 4 times the money.

Sir Andy Mahowry

Dan
25-09-2016, 12:55 PM
McCown is a tough dude, you have to give him that. I hope Kessler doesn't get destroyed, but he really has nothing around him even if he does well. At least Gary Barnidge might see twenty targets I guess.

Browns are a great shout for 0-16 this year, especially considering their better players are dropping like flies. They only really have Crowell as an option right now who has shown anything.

I can't believe they passed over on Wentz in favour of RG3 though. We all know they'll be back in the top 3 picks next year picking up a QB anyway.

Gray Fox

It's alright, Josh Gordon will be back soon to save them (and my fantasy team).

Gordon could be done, depending on the Browns stance. There's a warrant for his arrest out over a paternity claim. I'm not sure there's an NFL rule against what he did but teams themselves have cut people for it. The Ravens used to be ruthless for it.

Terelle Pryor is carrying the Browns here. Give him AFC player of the week. Marvin Jones has probably got the NFC award locked up.

Raven block a FG, and the Giants block a punt to give Eli another chance to throw a pick & piss me off further...

Nevermind, the penalty ruined the block.

This I will add, is the Carson Wentz who the Browns thought was not worthy of a 1st round pick and took RG3 instead.

Dan
25-09-2016, 09:05 PM
He looks 100% legit right now. Gotta give some credit to the coaching staff (most of whom are ex-QBs) for getting him ready & drawing up an offence that suits him perfectly.

Sir Andy Mahowry

Sir Andy Mahowry
25-09-2016, 09:14 PM
'Double (or higher) box' needs to fuck right off.

I'd rather watch something happen in one game then see a replay of what just happened in another. Barely being able to see action in 2 games then having to watch a replay of both is so shit.

Gray Fox
25-09-2016, 09:14 PM
He'd fail at the Browns anyway.

They'll be picking in the top 3 again.

If you look at their fixtures, I see 2 games they stand a chance in. At the Titans in week 6 and hosting the Cowboys in week 9. They really could be going 0-16 this year.

Dan
25-09-2016, 09:18 PM
It sounds like there aren't really any franchise QBs coming up this year either, so they'll probably end up trading down again & trying to build up the rest of the team for when they can finally get someone decent.

Dan
25-09-2016, 09:21 PM
I've just taken a look at the stats Minnesota put up earlier - 8 sacks, 3 picks, a safety & a defensive TD :cab:

Chiefs might do even better at this rate. Horrible stuff from the Jets so far.

Oh, and Saints era Jimmy Graham is on the field for Seattle today.

I don't watch College ball but apparently DeShone Kizer and Deshaun Watson are better than Wentz/Goff.

Brad Kaaya too.

Dan
25-09-2016, 09:26 PM
Yeah, I really need actually watch some college games - Lamar Jackson has something like 12 TDs in two games, which feels more like a statement of how shit college defences are than how good he is.

Having said that, Mike Vick reckons Jackson is miles better than he was, so maybe he'll do alright.

Giggles

There's a WhatsApp group for the lads in our Fantasy League and in it I've just dared to suggest that the Seahawks don't have a great offense and are a defence first team. The Seahawks fans(since 2014) have all seethed into calling me an idiot and "what have the Eagles done in the last 5 years?"
As a test I asked if they thought Brees or Wilson was the better QB and they've all decided I don't know what I'm on about, despite me not actually giving an answer to that question. Got to love the bandwagon fans.

Speaking of shit things, I thought a guy as inexperienced as Siemian would be in a bodybag by now behind this Denver o-line but so far it's actually been remarkably solid. Whether they've clicked, whether Kubiak is working around it like a boss, whatever, I dunno. It's working so far though and the No Fly Zone* is doing the job too.

* My initial response to nicknames like this is a solid  but then I have no issues with even the daftest nicknames of the past, such as Denver's Orange Crush or Minnesota's Purple People Eaters. So I think I might just be a miserable cunt.
