Things seem to have clicked for me.

I knew I wouldn't be able to do 40 so I didn't bother qualifying and instead I just played a few games in seasons.

Won 3 in a row without conceding and now have a winning record (242-35-240).

I really love my main team and the more I play the better I play with them.

Started my weekend dedicated to FUT Champs with 6 losses on Friday night under bad lag and with tired eyes. Pretty much wrote things off then, but managed 3-1 yesterday to raise a bit of positive feeling but nonetheless, went out last night and to the pub to catch the games today. Having had a few hours tonight I've managed 7-2 to bring myself up to 10-9 overall. Had I not forced myself to play on Friday night I might have had a real shot at Elite. Still, I'll playing through the night to secure Gold 3/2 and maybe even Gold 1 on current form.

I've stopped on 21 wins. That sees me come up 6 wins short of Elite 3 for the month, which is a little shitty. Had I known they were changing the tiers I'd have gone past my 18 wins in week 1. I still had 10+ games left then and I still have 7 left now. I'm stopping as I'm burnt out.

I even had my best ever start to a weekend too. I got myself right up to 12-1. All was going swimmingly, but then I ran into a guy called Epsilon Fully. Pro player and he destroyed me. I lead him 1-0 then 2-1 but his mega team took complete control in the 2nd half and I felt a little helpless. You can tell how bad it got after that if I went from 12-1 to 21-12.

I feel like I've not enjoyed tonight at all. But in reality it's because those I've beaten, I've gone 2 or 3 up early. They quit straight out. Most of the games I've played the full 90in I've lost, so it feels like that's all I've done.

Giving the weekend league a go again? I personally found the DKT harder than the league is itself. At least they sort of stop good players constantly replaying the thing now though.

I've been advised to sell up my Serie A side to raise funds. Go back and use my Mertens, El Shaarawy and Lacazette untradeable cards as super subs and switch to a La Liga-ish side.

Spotted 89 Thiago climbing back up in price earlier & managed to move him on for 70k before his price dropped again. Paid 69 so only really lost the tax, which I'm okay with.

Going to run through loads of SBCs to gain packs then I might invest whatever I have left. Still got 87 Sommer in goal, so that's another 30k I can free up if I need to, but should be fine to keep him a bit longer.

It's all to do with the links going into him.

You get 4 kinds of links. Each one lets you do other things around them.

Perfect link - Same nation, same club. One of these links can support two dead links for no loss of chemistry. For example, Pogba and Martial linking to each other means each player can support the two dead links. This is how I can cram my 91 Torres into a side while only using Koke.

Strong link - Same club or same nation in the same league. Not as strong as a perfect link. Can support 1 dead link. Players with only 2 links are ideal to use this as only one strong links will have them on full chem, which is how Mahow has Lewa on 10 there.

Standard link - Same league or same nation only. The weakest chem giving link. Can't support any dead link. You can have 4 of these connected to a player, but with one dead link he'll drop to 6 chemistry instantly.

Dead link - No chemistry at all. These are the red lines going into players. If you have any dead links connected to a player, you need at least a strong link elsewhere to get him to full chemistry.

That Emre Can released tonight is a fucking obscenity. FUTHead puts him at 87 as an attacker, 89 for creator and defender, and 90 beast rating. That's roughly the same spread as the 88 Nainggolan, and his value seems to match, he's going for upwards of a quarter million. Still, though, being among the best midfielders in the game short of the SBC Kante seems a bit strong, even allowing for that bonkers goal.

Weekend league started well. Worked from home and managed 7-2 whilst on conference calls all morning. One of the losses was a game I was winning 4 times and ended up losing on on pens so that was frustrating as fuck, but the other I can have no complaints with.

TOKO Mbappe Lottin stood out playing against me, along with IF Balde Diao who is horrendously elusive.

Also picked up MOTM Ox Chamberlain in my reward packs. Seems decent. MM's supplied me a few more 84 and 83's along with SIF Consigli so I'm bursting at the seems with SBC fodder in preparation for TOTS.

Annoyingly, I also thought I'd be clever and get myself a mega pack by using a Spurs Alex Hunter in the Alli SBC. Unfortunately it seems they've patched it out, which is rather gutting. Spent 4 hours yesterday pressing advance, simulate, forfeit all day on the journey whilst doing other stuff to get the damn card, so now I have a Spurs Alex Hunter card with nothing to do with him.

Everyone will obviously be blinded by the top rated guys, but there are so so many 84-86 rated TOTW cards that are worthless to people at this point of the game.

180k left. Carrasco is there as compromise until I can afford Neymar in his place. Getting his 87 or 88 is only 25k difference, as I assume he's getting a TOTS card.

I can either hold onto the remaining funds, or probably a better idea, use it to add. If I add I have a few options.

1) One of Thiagos high rated cards or Vidal for CM.
2) Upgrade Florenzi to his IF card.
3) Upgrade the goalkeeper to TOTGS Fahrmann or Neuer.

Depending on which version of Carrasco I get, depends on how many of those I can do. If even get his standard version and sub him off if it would be of more benefit to the overall team.

After getting to the team above, still with standard Carrasco. It was pointed out to me that while the Florenzi TOTW card is 110k, I could get 2IF Sokratis and 2IF Piszczek and still come out under 100k. The downside here is that the RCM then becomes limited. It either has to be a CM from Dortmund, or one from Madrid. Or play someone off chemistry.

Essentially meaning it would have to be some version of Isco, Modric, Kroos, HAMES, Castro or Pulisic. I like the sound of having someone mega fast like Pulisic in my midfield, but he has no presence at all and would be next to useless defensively. Essentially I'm looking at either Isco or Modric here. Most likely the 89 Isco from the card stats.

In fact I was looking at having the 89 Thiago on the left of the three originally and he has an almost identical card to the 89 Isco. I'm not sure if I could get away with having both at the same time, unless I saw screw it and go for goals. Maybe Vidal on the left would be more balanced.

I usually score about 10 in WL just outside the box, this week I don't think I've scored one. Keeper always seems to make a save or it hits the woodwork/goes just wide.

I've ground out the 18 wins today with the new team. It feels pretty good to play with, save for standard Carrasco. He definitely feels like he needs an upgrade or replacement. I've gone 18-9 when I was again at one point 12-2.

Playing calm really suits me. Had the kids not been sick over the weekend I'd love to know how I would have got on, on Friday/Saturday. I ended up using the 88 Isco and he felt lovely. Scored 8 goals from midfield in the 27 games. And considering I'd say 5 or 6 of those were early rage quits, I'd say that's damn good going for me. Casemiro has also been popping up with a goal or two.

I'm going to see if I can sell my 88 Isco on and look to bring in either the 89 or 90 version. I'm not too bothered if I cant though. The main need is that 88 Carrasco. Some of his stats are +12 and so on, compared to the current version I'm using. He's also now down to nearly 90k.

I know I'll regret building this team and having no coins when TOTS hits, but in all honesty, I'm not really affording too many of those TOTS cards.

I should have stuck with my original plan and sold the valuable players just after I finished game 18. Everyones price is plummeting. Messi has come below 400k, which is a 70k drop from where he was when I built this team.

I've sold the right hand side of the defence back on for a small loss. Back in come Smalling, Walker and 86 Alli. I didn't notice too much of a difference on the defensive side with them, but could use the height and strength in the middle. 88 Isco was great though so he'll come back in at some point.
I've now 199k which could buy me Neymar given the price crash. I'd sell Bale and consider getting Messi in, but he's dropped 40k himself, so I'd only get up to about 370k after my rewards on Thursday. I might just be able to snag one, but it would leave me short in other areas.

It's tough chosing when to buy players now as the market is so up and down. I could have saved 100k or so just by waiting a few days.

Solid set of Marquee Matchups today. The only one that I have to buy anything for is PSG/ASSE, which I was surprised to discover I had none of for either team. Looks like it's only going to cost me a few thousand coins to pick up the two players I need though, then I just need to get chem with my Spanish team, and the other two are done. Giving up a few players in my Bundesliga side to do this one, plus I've sold on a few more for huge profits, but I'm going to generate four good packs & at least 10k in coins, which I'm very happy with.

Particularly pleased with my decision to hold on to a load of Ulreich's I bought a while ago for 1.4k, only to find they dropped to 500 coins. Must've had them on the transfer list for a month or two, and now they're going for at least 2.5k each :drool:

I'm waiting until tomorrow night to pick the players, even though they're only going to cost me 3k as is. Jumped from 30k in coins up to 60k just from selling stuff I had in the club for the MM's. There was a brief point where 80 Rugani cards were selling for 650 on bid then going for 1.5k BIN, so I managed to grab a few of those just before prices started going back up, which also helped out quite nicely.

Otherwise I've just been spamming bronze packs with the aim of filling out the Saudi, Japanese & Mexican league SBCs for almost nothing. Need to do some silver upgrades in order to do it fully, but I'm saving my duplicates for now in the hope that we get leagues SBCs for Korea, Poland, Australia, Denmark or Sweden, in which case I should make a truckload of coins (if anyone actually gives enough of a fuck to do them, of course).

If it's 5 (gay) then for me the LM SBC Son will have the following over the 87 CAM with 10 chem: -3 pace, -2 shooting, +6 passing, +3 dribbling, +9 defending and +5 physical.

Mkhitaryan though has the following over SBC on +1 with Hunter: +3 pace, -2 shooting, 0 passing, -1 dribbling, +23 defending, -1 physical. Has more traits (not finesse which is a shame), more specialities and can later be re-sold.

I've stuck the one I bought for 310k yesterday for 350k/475k.

Sold for 422k so just over 400k after tax.

He's good. Cost me about 70k plus untradeables and got a silver TOTS from the couple of nice packs en route. Plays well, is definitely an upgrade on the 88 Hazard I had in that team.

Which is a shame as there's some damn good cards in there. Jorgensen is a perfect example. Put him in the EPL and you could triple his price, easily.

Definitely worth it. Can't see his TOTS being more than 91 either, and it'll be a damn sight more expensive. His key attriibutes are pretty much all maxed out with a Hawk or Engine anyway, so not sure how much different a TOTS will feel.

They're the two I fancy, having room for a French CM in two of my hybrids and with Ramos in the other (currently chem paired with Alba, Carvajal gives me the option to switch him and fit Alaba back in a side by putting the latter on the left). I've picked up three silvers and three golds. One of the silvers is likely to make my team next week as an 8 chem CM (Meite) so is a good arrival Danilo Pereira alongside him if a decent Portuguese striker appears or something else which allow me to cram them into a side. Otherwise, he could also be a supersub.

Played well into the night last night to get my 18 wins. Could feel myself running out of steam as the night wore on. To the point of me being 4-0 up in the game needed for the 18th win in the 60th minute. I lost that game and then had to play 4 more to get that win.

Messi ended up grabbing 35 goals in 32 games. Not bad at all from CAM. However most of my games had ridiculous scorelines like 5-4, 7-3 etc. It shows that maybe sacrificing the midfield for him didn't pay off, even if he is mental. Due to the only 8 gold requirements I'm going to have to sell him to fund some usable silvers, or more the rest of the team to fit them in.

I'd like to do it soon in order to give it a crack at that DKT, but I'm struggling for ideas that wont significantly weaken my team.

This silvers requirement really is a bastard for people who use hybrids. I'm essentially going to have to commit to a one league team for the weekend. Right now the best bet for some cheap decent silvers is Germany. Even more so if tomorrow sees the German league TOTS drop.
They're doing a new league every Tues/Friday so weekend league rewards are best saved til Friday again. There'll be 2 TOTS on the go as well as TOTW and MOTM maybe.

Now usually EA drop most consistent and then follow that with EPL. However I think they'll want to keep people playing for a while yet. If they go full on bastard mode, tomorrow will see something like the football league TOTS or the Scandinavian cards. I'm hoping for a big league.

I already have Halstenberg and Brooks as red rewards, I can also use my red Vogt here if I wanted. Delaney and Diekmeier are both good options for silvers, but the LF is my issue. I can use random silver guy like I am now and give myself the ability to make a sub, then bring on one of my untradeables. Maybe do the Son SBC. Or I can use a Bundesliga LF such as Reus, Costa or Coman and get on with it.

I've 400k to spend and improvement ideas are welcome.

It lacks the star power of the team above but the advantage is the silvers I'd be using aren't a sacrifice. The two TOTS cards in there are both too good for 74 ratings and have good workrates for their positions. The only weak looking player is the heavily downgraded Cabella. But that position would have to be silver and French, so there's not a huge amount of choice.

I feel like it's a better choice personally and I'll only really lose coins on the left back.

As for Mbappe I'd suggest doing the loan version Dan. 6k and you can try before you buy. After all good/bad is a lot down to personal preference. For example some people prefer a strong bullish striker set, whereas I struggle with those, but love the dainty smaller guys with good footwork.

With the packs, there's plenty of value, it cost me just the 50k for Germaine, as I had everything else already. TOTS Mbappe will likely be going at 150k+ and there are no packs coming with that.

Plus, I don't generally sell top players unless a better version is released and I manage to grab it (Kante, Bellerin post-upgrade, Thiago SIF>TOTT, Lacazette>SBC Lacazette etc). de Bruyne sat in my club for a good 6-8 weeks after POTM Alli had cemented himself in my team ahead of him.

There won't be a better version of him, his TOTT card was massively on my radar already and he fits two of my hybrids (one of them was built with his TOTT in mind).

So, I feel like I've done the right thing.

If you have most of it in the club then I take it back. Your way is definitely the best way. I always assume people to be like me and have to pay pretty much the full cost every time.

Everything I got from the Son SBC packs has now sold and in effect I did it for almost 100k bang on. Started on 278k, went down to 90k doing it and then back up to 175 after all sold. So I treated my team to De Gea and went into the DKT.

The first game was my first one on and so I was a little rusty. I kept going a goal behind all the way to 3-2 down. But in the 2nd half my rhythm was clicking and I was playing the right way. After I went 3-2 down in the 79th minute I opened up and went all out attack. I scored in the 89th and then injury time to steal the win. The next round saw me smash a guy 5-0. He used a silver goalkeeper though so shoot on sight was working. The semi-final again saw me against a silver 'keeper, but he was good at keeping me at bay. 2-2 at half-time I went to a narrow diamond and it paid off. He was a tough player but it was easier to get in. Then the goalkeeper showed and I ran out to a 5-2 win in the 2nd half. The final was a scrappy, nervy game. My only chance in the first half came from a corner. It rebounded it the box off 2 players and landed perfectly at the feet of my player a yard out.
Half-time came and I went to the diamond again. Again it opened the attack up for me. I had 2 chances that would usually see me score saved by Courtois. Got to the 86th minute still 1-0 up and the pass I attempted to put a player on a path to the corner flag was cut out. He ran it back and got a corner. Before I could get a tall player there he full powered one at the near post and it was 1-1. I had 3 or 4 chances in extra time again saved. At this point I started to think here we go again. This is exactly the type of game I lose at weekends.
The penalties were tense. He took a really long time over his setting his desired run up. But the first 4 each were all scored. I had slowly sussed him out though as he was doing very obviously curved run ups. For his 5th I sent De Gea the right way and he pushed it onto the bar and out. A quick pass into the corner later and I'd won.

All in all, a 4-3, 5-0, 5-2 and 1-1(5-4) set of results and Rudy is mine first try.

Some thoughts on the team: Cabella really is a weakness, but he's a necessary evil for now. Unless I bench another TOTS silver and sub them on. But the two TOTS guys I used I really liked. Even from the 4 games Hernandez is one of my favourite full-backs. He's tall, strong and quick, but also doesn't have a high attacking workrate so he's rarely caught out. I may yet keep him. Meite was also good. Especially if you set him as a CDM. His Low/Med workrates mean he stays back unless you trigger him on a run. The only 2 negatives for him are that he doesn't seem to be able to finish and his stamina feels low. I've also fallen back in love with Dembele. His 8 goals in 4 games firing me to the Rudy card.

Oh and in both the Semi and the Final I had my opponent message me mid-game asking me to let them win. Why on earth would anyone say yes?

Proper TOTS is about to kick off. I've saved my rewards again as EA have all but confirmed the EPL TOTS is coming tomorrow. So far it's been majority silvers and bronzes with some golds in there too. But mainly from teams/leagues people still wont use. The market is going to die on Friday though.
As such gameplay is going to be challenging. This is most likely going to be one of the last big weekends left in the game. It's the actual finals of what FUT Champions has been leading up to. To celebrate they are doing flash SBCs during the event when certain milestones are hit. These are live for 30 mins and then they are gone. They wont say what the prizes are but my guess is high value packs/players.

Next week is going to be the one though. EA are granting people access to the WL who have completed a certain number of DKT games without having qualified. So essentially it's free entry for all. Though their required number is in the 30's so I'm not too sure anyone who's played over 30 DKT games without qualifying should really be expecting too much. This does suggest to me that FUT Champions might be coming to an end soon. Most leagues are done by the end of May and there's only the Confederations Cup to keep the international MOTM cards going.
For the last few weeks I'd like to see them change the rewards to a TOTS based system instead of TOTW. But that probably wont happen.

Yeah it's best raising all the funds you can. If Vertonghen is anything to go by, some of these cards may well be affordable. He's only 110k and he's 91 rated. It'll be different for the attacking players, but I think everyone 91 and under is going be be 250k or less.

I believe the 24th man for next weeks DKT is going to be Danny Rose too. Looking at the team it has 2 RBs but one 1 LB. That'll be a massive player to get if I can. It'd finally allow the English hybrid style side of my team to move to the left hand side. It's a shame Gylfi Sigurdsson looks like he'll miss out as I think he deserved to be there, but then you'd have to take someone out and it's tough to pick someone. An argument could be made for Coutinho too, but his card would likely be 92 rated or so and I don't believe you'll see that given away for essentially free. It'll most likely be Rose and he'll be 88 or 89 rated.

Sods law says after winning Rudy in the first go, I'll fail 16 times on this new one. On the subject of that, next weeks DKT currently has the requirement of having 17 common + rare cards in your 18 man squad. That's great until you realise that means you'll only be allowed 1 TOTW, POTM, SBC or red reward card in there. My current XI uses SBC Lacazette and 85 Dembele.
Hopefully that gets changed but then again it makes things interesting.

As it is, I made a poor choice this morning and played 6 games between 7-9am as I was working from home.

Lost all 6. Combo of the early games being dominated by the very best players looking to get games over (apparently - redditors seem to think the first 3 or 4 hours are horrific) and being matched up to guys which would otherwise have much higher ELOs because they leagues only just started. After salivating over that Sanson ToTS card, I'm a little unimpressed with him in-game.

Pumped £50 in - the first time I've paid for packs in a while as a final investment in this years edition, hoping for TOTS and some high rated SBC fodder. I'm quite shit too, and I'm coming up against TOTS players with the likes of Ameobi in my team, so have to work extra hard to get some kind of result, endure a few painful losses and then have someone quit as soon as I score first.

There should be more of a consequence for quitting a match. Not enough to fuck you over if your connection dropped out on the odd occasion, but if you're consistently doing it then you should be penalised. If you'd get fucked over by that because your connection is never very good, you probably shouldn't be playing online in the first place.

I'm starting to remember why I stopped playing this game, a lot of it is frustrating as hell. Will carry on though. Adam Armstrong and Sammy Ameobi seem to be my best players at the moment. Wanted to get Mbemba in, thought he'd be about 650 coins, but it's double that for some reason.

Sorry Yev, Mahow is correct. Those TOTS reward SBCs are released every Tuesday & last for three days, I believe, Think there are six in total. Hopefully they're all as easy as the first one, but the guaranteed TOTS card I'd get will inevitably be a bronze, so whatever.

Almost through the J-League SBC now - got four or five more to do. Not sure what I'll go to next, probably either MLS or Mexico depending on which I have the most of. Been lucky to pack a few players who are needed for other SBCs in the process, which, coupled with coins from games, has helped keep the cost down to a few thousand coins so far.

Looking forward to trying the DKT this week, as I can actually just use my Bundesliga team if I swap out Sommer or Howedes. I'll still get destroyed every time, but at least I'll be able to try to get a Gylfi.

This weekend was quite annoying for me. Yet again unable to play til Sunday I tried to cram games in. I got to 12-2 for about the 4th week running and for the 4th week it all went wrong then. However the better opponents were easily exploiting my left side. I ended up finishing 18-16 as I just kept conceding the first goal to people. I must have lost 8 or 9 running at one point. After Kante totted up his 600th game for me, Martial his 500th and Smalling approaches game 700 I'm ready to cave in. Standard Premier League team is the one I seem to lose to the most too. So I'm going to build one and move back to my preferred 4-3-1-2. If I can win Gylfi he'll slot nicely into the CAM role too.

From experience you're right, first 15 games there doesn't seem to be a matchmaking system. After this, you'll begin to come up against harder opponents if you've got that sort of record.

At the weekend I came up against 4 consistent top 100 monthly players in around the space of about 8 matches in the middle games of the 40. I beat 2 of them, lost 1 on pens and the other absolutely destroyed me, he was genuinely the best player I've faced ever on FIFA. He consistently finished in the top 30 in the world but I literally couldn't get near him.

That feeling of not getting near an opponent is one I face a lot, and I suspect you do it to many of the people you play too.

What are these players doing that makes it happen? Could you tell with the top 30 guy you faced?

Right, I've had it with 4-3-3. Against muppets it works, but against good people I get so exposed. 4-1-2-1-2 (2) it is. Which means selling up and buying a new team. :drool:
