You got into those in late teenagehood. Stuff like Oasis is early teenagehood nostalgia.
I don't think so. Certain scenes take hold at Certain times and people fall into them. You get early and late adopters. Emo being the obvious example, there were many emo's in their late teens, but there were also tween Emo's and tragic adult Emo's.

Those same people then went on to become hipsters, and it all seems to have died with them, because there doesn't seem to be any kind of counter-culture these days. You're either a normie, a woke left fucktard or a right wing conspiracy theory nut job.

Swifties are the closest we have to any kind of sub-culture as far as I can see, but I might just be old and unable to see what's down wiv da kidz.

No new bands or groups around, of course. Every single act in the charts is an individual. Says a lot.
You're right. It was expensive and difficult to listen to music, never mind source it. They take great pride in owning bootlegs, record collections and memorabilia.

    Sad old cunts.

Swifties are probably the closest thing to the kind of madness that afflicts Michael Jackson fans. And it's still miles apart. We grew up during that, Spice Girls and Britpop.

I used to like Oasis but looking at their discography I seem to have completely gone off them as soon as they released Heathen Chemistry as I don't recognise a single thing they did after.

His voice is pretty good again now, to be fair. I saw him earlier this year on the Definitely Maybe tour and he was belting it out.

I mean it wasn't peak Oasis-era Liam Gallagher by any means but you're never going to get that again. It was a lot better than it was towards the end of the original Oasis run, put it that way.

I had literally never heard of Heathen Chemistry prior to this post.

lol at all the superfans getting their pre-emptive hotel bookings cancelled since the official dates have been announced.

You'd have to be insane to try and actually stay in a hotel near one of these events, surely?

When I went to the Open I stayed literally 100 miles away and commuted, you save huge amounts of money and get to listen to more podcasts in the process. People are lazy I suppose.

I did last night. Confirmation email didn't come through for hours but eventually did this morning.

I'm not a superfan or anything but I enjoyed their music in my youth and my wife wants to go, so I think I'll pay pretty much anything because we've been together over 10 years and never actually agreed on a gig we'd be willing to go to together, until this. She flat out refuses to go to trance events (my preference) and no amount of love can talk me into sulking my way through a Lizzo performance, so this is the one.

Rather than his views on things (lefties gonna left), I really hate the NME prose that all pop writers seem to use where insight should be.

But the art needs to at least be good. Oasis, memorably described by the late great Neil Kulkarni as the “English Rock Defence League”, offer nothing but a sludgy, trudgy, brontosaurus-bottomed waddle, perfect for that adult nappy gait so beloved of their singer and fans.
You've said literally nothing in that sentence but you've clearly spent three hours writing it.

The thing that makes me bemused by the excitement for this reunion is that they already massively outstayed their welcome. With, say, the smiths, they did four great albums, existed for 5 years, then stopped. It makes perfect sense that the mythology of them would build subsequently, and people would get dead excited about them getting back together.

I'm not a fan of oasis really, but if they'd done definitely maybe and what's the story morning glory then split up I'd totally get it. But they did five more shit albums, then spent the last 15 years or so being old losers making shit music and being annoying on chat shows. They're fucking tragic.

Maybe if you were a soccer am banter footy get the badge in cretin in his early 20s, where the mystique isn't shattered by memories of the Hindu times and Lyla id sort of get it, but if you're older than about 28 then wtf is wrong with you

They felt like the default favourite band when I went to uni in 2009. It's not hard to understand the fomo/desire to be a part of this. I have almost no feelings towards Oasis beyond thinking about 5 of their songs are pretty good and I was briefly tempted when I heard the news. You're paying to be a part of the moment, there will be nothing there that you couldn't have got at a Noel/Liam solo gig.

Are the standing tickets, ie on the pitch at Wembley, the best tickets other than VIP stuff?

I'd seen 'from £85' mooted, which I guess would be in the gods, although you'd probably pay that to watch England shit it up against some no-hopers, so it didn't seem that unreasonable.

Wembley seating is £74.25-£206.25 so yes, depends entirely where you are prepared to sit. I'd be going for standing there.

I think there is something in this, but also what James says as far as the EVENT, which is why I would make a certain amount of effort if the chance to go was available. Spending hundreds and hundreds no thanks mate.

His talk about The Smiths not outstaying their welcome manifested this:

Morrissey well up for it, Marr not.
