AEW are fantastic at showcasing talent in ring but if they haven’t got the mic skills they don’t know what to do. While it might be a stick to beat Tony with I do think it’s really hard. Look at Roman Reigns, it took the greatest manager of all time to get people to boo him for being a heel rather than go away heat.

Takeshita with another top quality match in the G1. However, he's the only shining light. Four nights in and it's very average so far. There's just no big name quality this year. Naito is completely finished and it's incredible how big a void Okada and Ospreay have left. I'm not sure I'll make it through the tournament at this rate.

Interesting that despite having this title they wanted to defend outside of AEW and around the world, and having two very British-based champions in PAC and Ospreay as well as other indie-riffic champions like Orange Cassidy, it's of all people MJF who's stepped up to the plate.
I like to think in Kayfabe that Ospreay booked all these indie matches and then he lost the title and now MJF's miffed that he has to go to all these shitty little halls to entertain the plebs.
No doubt it’s part of the angle heading into All In, I just think it’s a shame they never did what they said they were going to as it would have been a cool thing to see. A touring heel champion is always great.
Although up to now they never really ran with a heel as champion. It was made for PAC as a bargaining chip for him signing exclusive and still allowing him to live in Newcastle. And then until Ospreay was just another midcard belt.
