Tbf for all the moaning I do about yevrahs interpretation of years of different England teams, I will admit the combination of starting brightly then inexplicably getting really slow and sluggish, then whilst slowing the tempo to presumably ease a bit of pressure and get some control back, still giving the ball away with a totally pointless aimless long pass does feel like a very familiar story.
Honestly gents, when it comes to England don't doubt the Yev. We'll still probably win this, with one of our many talented forwards pulling something out of their arse/Serbia being wank, but yeah, we don't start brightly, fade massively and then somehow become a competent team later.

This might be the most disappointing thing of all about how Southgate uses players, in that he can't even get 50% of what Guardiola gets out of Foden.
He'll eventually put Palmer on, despite Eze being absolutely electric last time he had an England shirt on.
That Gallager for TAA change might be the most proactive thing Southgate has ever done. Saw it wasn't working, despite deciding beforehand it would, and still changed it before the obligatory 75 minute mark.
The retreat into their mental shells has been a Southgate constant, can't think that he asks them to do it, maybe it's a lack of in-game renewal from the coaching team leaving them listless.
