I just like that Man Utd's transfer strategy is largely the same as 14 year old Spikey's on CM 01/02.

The backup to Rabiot (which has fallen through because of wage demands) appears to be Casemiro. And it's being reported by reliable Madrid journalists it might actually happen. He signed a new contract not long ago, so it's not even that.
Like buying a steak for dinner because the shop had run out of turkey dinosaurs.
I'd rather we were signing players the right side of 30, but still.
It's the complete lack of any sort of plan / vision that is staggering. How can Casemiro be the backup option to Rabiot? Firstly, they're different types of players (a destroyer / spoiler-type vs a more technical midfielder), and secondly one is a star player (with arguably no replacement) at the current European Champions, while the other is running down his contract at Juventus and brings significant behavioural baggage.
It's so far from how the other top English clubs run their transfer business: find a target who you know is interested, pay the money, profit. It's fully 4 months since ten Hag was announced as manager and there appears to have been no serious plan put in place to overhaul the squad, other than try to sign De Jong against his will.
Are you going to take that @Lewis?
The price the Glazers will want will put everybody except the Saudi Arabians (or comparable scummers) off.
Isn’t Camavinga waiting for him to leave to take his spot? Or have I not watched enough Real Madrid to understand their roles?
I'm a twit
Tchouameni is the more defensive one so it would be him that sits at the base of the midfield
Casemiro to Utd will only happen ifhe's presumably failing any respectable medical a la Varane
If we cant have Steve Bruce then personally Id like Roy Keane or Gary Neville.
They understand the club through and through, which has got to be worth, what, 30 points a season. Might be enough to keep them up.
Keane wouldnt manage a restaurant.
I'm sure he wouldn't.
Zing.
I reckon if I ran Man Utd there would be a small part of me that kind of would want to give Roy Keane the job whenever it came up. Just for a bit, just to see what happened.
I don't rate him as an actual manager to any great extent at all. But maybe just his silent, physical presence in the dressing room, radiating pure anger and disgust, would be enough to jolt them into some sort of forward motion.
Or just have him as a mandatory inclusion in the coaching staff of whoever you do hire, purely to be wheeled out when things are not up to par. Like a sort of footballing equivalent of the "you just wait until your Dad gets home" threat when you were a kid.
If I was in charge, I'd be fucking the European scouts right off and going for some proven Premier League shitkickers.
Dele to Beskitas. Some fall from grace.
Going to Turkey is basically like admitting your career is over. Only Nicolas Anelka has come back from it, to my recollection.
Colin Kazim-Richards keeps going back. What a journeyman.
I feel compelled to point out I was taking the piss. Both Keane and Neville would be a hilarious disaster.
The players would have to give a shit to be scared of Keane but they don't care so it's not going to shake them up. I'm not being over dramatic when I think they could be relegated this season.
So Everton loaned him with an obligation to buy if criteria were met. Met those criteria and then immediately sold him on? For what I'm assuming is a lot less than they paid?
Dynamo Keeeeev vs Kiko's boys (which ones, eh Giggles?) on the menu tonight. Can't believe Irish tv is actually showing this. Maybe some sort of bizarre Ukrainian solidarity thing.
Wasn't there a "Gary Neville's record at Valencia was the same as Gerrard's record at Villa" line doing the rounds the other day [and thereby presumably better than Lamps' stint at Everton as well]? I get the Keane stuff [jokes aside]. Feels like you need some sort of 'big character' to sort things out there [maybe more a Klopp than a Keane] and, knowing absolutely nothing about him, I have no idea if this Dutch bloke is that. Feels like he could easily get swallowed into the mass but they probably need to let him salt the earth first.
Liverpool will probably chuck them some points on Monday, unless the United fans get it called off again.

It's on. Announce Messi.

Can't leave? Not for sale? Just admit to the rape and take the prison time. Throw in a cheeky appeal as soon as United cancel your contract.
130m bid from United for Joao Felix rejected according to Sky. Mental all round if true.
Just today thats Casemiro, Felix, Aubemeyang, Sommer, Pulisic, Meunier and Anthony.
Badman vibes all over.
Sounds like Naby Keita could well be out the door.
He's broken off talks about his contract as he's unhappy about his role in the midfield. Given that Thiago is lol amounts better than him at everything, Fabinho is the CDM and there's only one other spot really up for grabs for him, that isn't really going to change.
He only has 1 year left on his deal so it looks like that situation of sell or lose for nothing. So far FSG have always chosen that second option. This time I think might be different. Or else Liverpool could genuinely be looking at having to bring in 3 midfielders next summer.
Plus apparently he’s a rapist.
I'm a twit
Yes but he is a footballer in a farmers league. Harry Maguire is a scarecrow in a football league.
Phil Jones is the real answer to your problems though.
Let's not reimagine Chris Smalling at United. Did reasonably well but was clearly limited in his ability to play football. It is funny we moved from a player with a club foot and a tanker turning circle to a more expensive version of one (ok Harry is better on the ball).
Is he? Jesus.
Seen some Gilmour to Brighton rumours. Not really what they need, but whatever. I've said it before that they'd be better off sniffing around Broja from Chelsea.
Or Gallagher. They need goals.
Billy G under Potter
It's obviously a smart move if they can get him for not much now to replace Caicedo when he goes, assuming he isn't actually bobbins.
Casemiro genuinely looks like it's happening. Fee and wages going to be ridiculous.
Only need about another 4 players before the end of the window and we might have a vaguely competent team.
