Cheers, took longer than I thought for you to turn up, was almost disappointed.
Yay! One of the rare situations where very little's been changed for comedic effect, probably.
The book that it is based on is batshit insane. I hope they show a lot of the stuff other than the filming of the movie. Tommy and Gregs adventures together need to be on screen.
Has anybody watched a film at a cinema in 4DX? I've always assumed it was a bit gimmicky - but im hearing good things about it all of a sudden...
I always get concerned when I see UNIVERSAL ACCLAIM for something like Dunkirk and then a couple of reviewers who I respect a lot say it really isn't that good...
Watched the "Siege of Jadotville" on Netflix last night. Basically Zulu but with Irish UN peacekeepers replacing the red coated British soldiers, an outpost in 1960s Congo instead of Rorkes Drift and a dash of politics.
Enjoyed it and would recommend a watch if you want an easy to sit back war film.
Surprisingly enjoyed Logan very much last night. Hadn't seen any press or reviews of it before I went in.
I watched Lion today and christ, it's one of the most emotional films I've ever seen.
Little surprised that it picked up nothing at the Oscars but it was a tough year.
Also, Kermode's 10-6 from the first half of the year is:
10: Wonder Woman
9: Prevenge (which looks weird as shit)
8: Get Out
7: Baby Driver
6: My Life as a Courgette.
I've seen none yet.
Is Wonder Woman actually good then? It's strange to hear any critic recommend a big release film, normally they go foreign, small time, or 5 decades old in a bid to try keep themselves relevant.
Yeah, I was expecting another Batman v Superman flub but it's getting good reviews.
Finally watched Kingsman tonight![]()
I absolutely loved it.
Can't wait to see the sequel.
How would at least half of that be anything other than rubbish?4DX allows a motion picture presentation to be augmented with environmental effects such as seat motion, wind, rain, fog, lights, and scents along with the standard video and audio.
I've been on HMS Alliance (out of Transformers) at the submarine museum, which was started during 1945, and that was pretty shitty just standing there hearing some bloke talking about it. Bobbing about or being under the sea with a seventy-five per cent chance of not coming back up must have been about as horrendous as it gets.
Really enjoyed Jawbone. Solid lead, Winstone doing Winstone, Smiley on form. Good lower budget boxing film.

It takes a while to get motoring, but Dunkirk is the best film Christopher Nolan (who definitely voted Brexit if he had a vote) has made.
I can't stand war films normally, especially world war 2, but I might give that a watch as I've yet to see a bad word about it. Is it unnecessarily gory?
It's probably the least bloody war film ever.
Less bloody that Pearl fucking Harbour?
I can't remember much of that, but this has barely any blood in it.
Wonder Woman was the epitome of average. Surprised it is so well liked.
Dunkirk was reet good.
I watched it in Imax too which added to the EXPERIENCE. I actually jumped a couple of times because the gunshots sounded on point, the vibration felt when spitfires were flying past was also intense.
I didn't even mind Harry 'I'm a celebrity, mate' Styles.

It was also the first film I've seen that some people clapped after it ended.
Movie was fucking awesome even though I spent the first half of it going "Wait, isn't that the kid from One Direction?"
@Mahow: (legit spoilers here)

Anyhow, like 'how said it was very, very intense. Friend of mine said she almost felt like she needed to take a xanax beforehand lol.
The only time I've been in a cinema and people have applauded the film was Beerfest. It was in the US, so may have been genuine enthusiasm rather than irony.

Thanks for taking the time, fellas. That makes a lot more sense.
I thought Dunkirk was good but ultimately didn't live up to the hype. Glad I saw it but I'm in no rush to see it again.
I am definitely going to see Dunny in IMAX, the question is do I go to an inferior screen 30 minutes away, or a far superior one 1hr 30 mins away.
Oh lol £16 a ticket.
My ticket was £4.25.![]()
I saw Kiki's Delivery Service at a special screening in a huge cineplex, and it was delightful. It made me want to watch all the Studio Ghibli films again.

Your newest self-help strategy?
Food thread banter, mate. You can still participate even though you'll never be able to enjoy a majestic Instant Pot.
So, I think Dunkirk is a good thriller, but it's not a masterpiece and it's by no means Nolans best film.
I can tell why Lewis likes it. Like most of Nolans films, it's got a vaguely right-wing bent to it, in this case in the service of British nationalism. We'll fight them on the beaches. Green and pleasant land. Cups of tea. Spitfire's are awesome. None of which is really out of place of course, although its timing being aligned with Brexit is ironic.
Watched the Hollywood version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night. Pretty decent.
Sunset Song, which I just watched, is also very good. And it didn't make $100 million inside its first week.
Foxcatcher is on TV tonight. What's exactly is it? The and makes it look serious but the rubbish makeup on the leads make it look like a spoof.
Anyway, worth seeing?
The performances are great, but it's ultimately a bit dull.
