Apparently some Paralympic runners (not the bladerunners) did better than anyone in the last Olympics on 1500m. That's quite surprising and if they are that good why don't they just take part in the Olympics?

It was the slowest 1500m race in 20+ years. Also what Magic said.

I think they were blind btw, not missing limbs or brains or anything of the sorts.

That explains it (the slowest race part). I don't think they were even fully blind, 'only' visually impaired.
