Probably have to call off the City title charge now. It's Chelsea's to lose.
I'll piss myself if the final top four features Leicester, Spurs and West Ham. We should break away and form a super league.

Looking at the live league table.....what odds can you get on Chelsea finishing top four?

Everything's coming up Milhouse.
German title race is all of a sudden interesting as well. Five points with Bayern going to Dortmund at the weekend

Chelsea pipping Spurs to 4th on the final day would be major lol.
Race for 4th  Arsenal fav to win it.
Chelsea pipping Spurs to 4th on the final day would be major lol.
It would be shit as it would mean they'd beat us on the last day.
Without wanting to tempt fate, City have an awful team out. Ok, they're missing De Bruyne and Toure, but Sterling, Navas, Fernando, Fernandinho is a pretty weak midfield four. Sterling's got some potential (although he's rubbish at the minute), but the other three wouldn't strengthen any other midfield in the top half, I reckon. Fernandinho, maybe.

Hull used to have its own council-owned telephone network, and the shithouse company that remains doesn't let legitimate companies use its infrastructure (it claims they don't want to use it), so you can only get internet and phone off them. Not surprisingly, they're shit at everything, and the internet gets even slower when it rains.

This performance is quite surprising, especially in terms of defensive stability (with a central defence of Touré and an unfit Lovren, for Christ's sake). One for Watford would do nicely now.

We were absolutely clueless once they got it to 1-1, even if we did hit the woodwork 3 times. Giroud spent more time in our half making tackles and his first touch was that of a non league player. Campbell was by far and away our best player, and the first to be taken off. At least the yids bottled it as well. Nothing more to say really, we've turned back into the Hleb inspired tippy-tappy shitfest of 6 or 7 years ago.

Oh, I'm not saying they don't need another light-weight attacking midfielder. But the rest of the squad is pretty much bang on these days, so if Jack can stay injury-free and if Theo can finally get a run as a central striker... I don't see how the other sides could live with that.

No, in their favour. The goal was disallowed, Shinnie who set it up booked for diving, and the Aberdeen manager sent off for wondering what the fuck had just happened.

It's just a throw away comment on a forum. That's the first time I've seen him at his best in a Liverpool shirt and thought I'd mention that he was showing the sort of form that had everyone interested in him.
Forget Lallana, it's Firmino that's going to be the real deal.
Next season he'll break out with a good preseason. There's no competitions Brazil will find themselves in, is there?

One of the US executives involved in the Super League negotiations comes clean.
http://bigstory.ap.org/article/1c86dc09d7314f50af6a978ab7b7b3c6/sports-executive-club-talks-says-closed-system-has-merits
A heartwarming story.
You can't expect someone wealthy from the US to have any interest in sport as something other than a way to seperate punters from their cash, to be fair.
niko_cee
04-03-2016, 09:53 AM
Yeah, that's just awful from start to finish.
"Let's call it the money pot created by soccer and the fandom around the world. Who has had more of an integral role, Manchester United or Leicester? It's a wonderful, wonderful story. But you could see it from Manchester United's point of view too."
Which probably accounts for the relative disparity in wealth between the two sides. Does he think United are sharing all their commercial revenue or something? How much money did United's massive draw earn Leicester from the Champions League this season?
It's clearly more an anti-Scudamore/Premier League conspiracy from foreign types, envious of the ridiculous corporate behemoth that English football has grown into. I don't think the English teams are daft enough to not understand where this has come from, and what they would lose if they abandoned it.
Jimmy Floyd
04-03-2016, 09:56 AM
Do they even have recreational sport over there? As in, are there amateur baseball/basketball clubs and leagues for people who fancy a game at the weekend, like we have for all sports?
I never hear about US sport in any context other than either selling crisps, or their 'college' circle jerk.
My impression of US sport is Little League to High School to College to sitting on the couch getting fat yelling at professionals, but I might be biased there.
I don't think the English teams are daft enough to not understand where this has come from, and what they would lose if they abandoned it.
I guess the scary thought is whether or not people who have a grounding in that culture actually have any influence and power at big Premiership clubs any more. Now it's all foreign owners looking to maximise their return on investment, well apart from Chelsea maybe, does that still outweigh the huge piles of cash potentially being lost?
Jimmy Floyd
04-03-2016, 10:07 AM
The Super League would be an absolutely shit competition. I've said this before but those legions of fans worldwide like United, Arsenal and co because they win a lot. It's gratifying to tune in and watch your favourite team thrash West Brom 4-0. Is it as good to watch them win only as often as they lose against more glamorous opposition? I don't think so.
niko_cee
04-03-2016, 10:20 AM
That was the general thesis in that Why England Lose and other footballing phenomena book.
People often say they want even/fair competition, but they don't really. A league win over United means something to 'a lesser club', even if United are a bit pony at the time. Beating the reigning Superb Owl champions in the following regular season is completely meaningless.

I've literally never understood copyrighting of the fixture list. Why would they stop you from distributing dates and times when their product is available?
I don't get that either, but I meant news channels do it so that it's easier to link (i.e. direct people to it) than to just lift it.

It used to be (probably still is) that games such as FM weren't allowed to put the fixtures in the right order unless they had a licence agreement.
It definitely still happens with the FA Cup. Reports on the draw are never allowed to actually list the fixtures.

I'd been at work all day so hadn't seen any of the goals. That from Ramsey is saucey. Shit result though.
