It's Pat McAfee lol.

The former Colts punter.

That elbow!

bruhnaldo
07-04-2019, 09:49 PM
one bad thing about a woman's battle royale is that the rope is generally so high for the girls they have to make a concerted effort to jump up to go over the top of it lol

Gray Fox
07-04-2019, 09:50 PM
It can really only be Asuka from here tbf.

Ian
07-04-2019, 09:51 PM
That elbow!

It is the best thing.

Gray Fox
07-04-2019, 09:53 PM
That looked really awkward.

Sir Andy Mahowry
07-04-2019, 09:53 PM
Kairi's elbow is genuinely one of the best in the business. The wind up she does mid-air is brilliant.

Mike
07-04-2019, 09:53 PM
It’s also the reason I know who she is!

Sir Andy Mahowry
07-04-2019, 09:53 PM

She won anyway.... but what a stupid way to waste the element of surprise.

They really should ring the bell in that situation too, it feels fucking awkward otherwise.

I'm calling Phenomenal Forearm reversed into RKO as the finish now.

Sir Andy Mahowry
07-04-2019, 10:07 PM
Also, I'm thinking the way they shat on Corbin there that Cena will replace him instead.

Ian

I dunno what's weirder, that they're not coming out at the top of the ramp or that they're so desperately trying to hide it.

I only caught the arse end of the pre-show. Hawkins winning was fine but I bloody hate small package finishes. They don't convince me when the build is, "He's proper out of it and the guy he's fighting is fresh." Ali's face smashing the announcers table was good.

08-04-2019, 07:13 AM
Didn’t bother watching but seeing that The Iiconics won makes me happy. Was the overall show worth fast forwarding through?

Gray Fox
08-04-2019, 08:10 AM
I enjoyed it, but it was definitely too long. 5 hours 20 mins or so just for the main show. A lot of that was in-between matches or taken up with entrances though.

For example the Rollins v Lesnar, Joe v Rey and Balor v Lashley, the entrances were longer than the matches themselves. There was a fair bit of other shit inbetween matches.

Decent card though. No match was particularly shit, save for Joe v Rey but we know why.

My 2 biggest complaints were that 1, I feel they made The Miz look quite thick at the end of his match and 2, the womens match seemed to end quite suddenly. It was quite a fast paced match but it felt like it needed another 5 mins to build to it.

SvN
08-04-2019, 08:13 AM
I was drifting in and out of sleep for most of it, but managed to catch all of the main matches. I loved Rollins battering Lesnar. Kofi winning was the moment of the year, and possibly even tops Bryan at 30.

I thought the women's match was a bit of a botchfest. I was expecting to it to be the best women's match of all time, and it just felt "quite good" to me. At least the right person won.

Browning
08-04-2019, 12:40 PM
Agreed on the women’s match, it was nowhere near as good as I had expected though it was alright. Too many botches and I didn’t care for the finish.

Kofi vs Bryan was incredible, the rest was average at best, and I still can’t suffer through “the demon” so I skipped that.

Cena was another highlight.

Browning
08-04-2019, 01:32 PM
Wait... people are acting like the Ronda thing was a botch? I felt her angry reaction and Corey pointing it out made it look like it was planned. Many other botches sure, but I didn’t think the finish was, I felt they were keeping her strong.

Wait... people are acting like the Ronda thing was a botch? I felt her angry reaction and Corey pointing it out made it look like it was planned. Many other botches sure, but I didn’t think the finish was, I felt they were keeping her strong.

It was definitely a 'botched' finish like the Roman/Lesnar cage one. It just felt weird though that they cut so quickly after it.

I was pretty entertained throughout, none of the matches were really that great bar Kofi/Bryan and parts of the Smackdown tag match but I enjoyed it.

I'll also see who the winner in the pick em is later unless someone else wants to do it for me.

In joint last place we have:

Bruhnaldo, Gray Fox and Mike on a grand total of 5 points.

In third place we have:

Master of the Pleb Roll, Pleb on 6 points

In second place we have:

Ian the bastard on 7 points

The winner and BEST IN THE WORLD at pick em:

Mahow on 9 points.

Only Gray Fox picked the BEST IN THE WORLD to win as we're all idiots and Bruh was the only one to pick Tony 'I count my abs' Nese. No one got Carmella to win the Battle Royal or Jezza to beat Angle in his last match.

Browning
08-04-2019, 03:41 PM
So everyone though Kurt Angle who could barely move wasn’t going to put someone over? As much as it sucked that was incredibly obvious I thought.

I think the only proper shock outcome was the Iconics, but I’m glad they won. I originally thought Sasha and Bayley would retain but when the match started I was convinced Nattie was getting it with the Hart Attack.

While they got a surprising amount of the results right that was a very, very bad show.

Bork losing (not a good match though it amused me that he lost to 5 moves), Usos retaining (not a good match), IIconics winning (not a good match but a good finish), Becky winning (weak match, crap finish) and the WWE title match as the only good match top to bottom.

Wow, that show died on it's arse, didn't it?

I went to bed right before the Ricochet tag match because nothing they had advertised for later, other than the main event, appealed to me so it wasn't going to be worth staying up until 4:30. I had enjoyed the show to that point though. Just skipped through the rest of it now and everything including the main event was shite.

Gray Fox
09-04-2019, 11:46 AM
The crowd royally shit on the main event and rightfully so.

They could have had someone come out in some way relevant to either title(Bryan and Rowan would have made most sense), or they could have debuted someone from NXT out to make a name for themselves.

What we got was disappointment. Followed by AEW, bullshit, CM Punk and we want refunds chants.

Watching MLW on freesports. It's pretty great! Jimmy havoc licked blood off world champion filthy tom Lawler's face (also of f4w podcast fame) during the title match, Dan severn is in the 40 man battle royal and Cornette is on colour commentary.

Vince probably doesn't care enough for that to be a thing. Not that that helped Raw this week.

Sir Andy Mahowry

I'm trying to think of possible NXT call-ups but I can't think of many.

I imagine they'll officially add Aleister, Ricochet, Heavy Machinery , Lacey Evans etc to brands (not including Ciampa due to injury and Gargano as Vince apparently sees them as a duo). Outside of those I can only see Candace LeRae who has been mooted for a while and Kairi Sane. Could also see them calling up Pete Dunne and Rhea Ripley from the UK brand too.

If they do indeed call up Rhea my word, they could make her an absolute game changer in the female division. They wont though obviously.

Disco
10-04-2019, 09:24 PM
Given the paucity of wrestlers at the top of the NXT card they'd be better off moving Yellow Peter there full time.

Sir Andy Mahowry
10-04-2019, 10:05 PM
In my scenario you'd still have:

Johnny Gargano (I'm sure Vince wont let him on the main roster as a singles guy, he's not appeared once since Ciampa's injury)
Velveteen Dream
Adam Cole
Dijakovic
Keith Lee
Matt Riddle
Roddy Strong

You could then call up Tyler Bate full time, get Punishment Martinez on the TV more and throw in Kushida.

Ian
11-04-2019, 06:26 AM
Thing is the nature of the SHAKEUP is that they need to rinse NXT a bit because if there aren't surprises people will, somewhat understandably, moan that it's been an anticlimax.

But the main roster is absolutely fine, they just need to actually use the people they have properly. Vince calling up a few more people to misuse is a waste of everybody's time.

Browning
11-04-2019, 07:19 AM
The shake up is still shit. I know kayfabe is deader than ever (your finisher is fake, those aren’t real security guards etc) but it just makes zero sense within it. The old draft systems were all better.

Ian
11-04-2019, 07:22 AM
Don't they basically run the shake-up along the lines of the draft anyway? Or am I just thinking of the first part of the new brand split?

That reminds of that HHH trade back to Raw back in the day though. For about three other people, wasn't it? :D

The shake up is meant to be “trades agreed by the GMs” but they never go into detail as to who was traded for who so the SD GM always looks like a twat when all their top talents show up on RAW and they get a midcard tag team and a diva who hasn’t been seen for months in return.

Ian

I have a Facebook friend request off him from years back; turns out it’s someone I went to school with. He is known as Big Dave to me, because there were three lads called David Jones in our year and he was the tallest. The other two were known as Doddle (dunno) and Fester (looked tired).

Anyway, I have heard from an unreliable source that he’d “been done for noncing” but I wouldn’t like to start any rumours if he’s an up and coming wrestling [face] superstar.
