Stuttgart is insane for regens.

Into the 2021/2022 season now, and I've done the least, but possibly the best business in this game so far. There were four players signed in the summer, along with two others from January who went into the youth sides before being promoted in the summer.

http://i68.tinypic.com/i1fp5l.png

The deal for Eric Gomez is fucking mental. He had two years left on his deal but he wouldn't even sit down to negotiate a new one before Man City came in. The minute they showed an interest he was all over it, appearing weekly to ask for a move, and complaining when I told him to fuck off because it was all hypothetical, the first time I've ever seen that happen. They came in at twenty and immediately accepted my first negotiation, which made fume that I hadn't asked for more. Still, that's obscene money.

http://i64.tinypic.com/155jw5j.png

I've had him shortlisted since I got a news item about him becoming Academica's youngest ever player in a game against me, and it's paid off after he spent the last season of his contract moaning that he wanted to leave on a weekly basis. He's a good player as it is, but if my coaches are right he has a shitload of room to grow.

http://i67.tinypic.com/24y756q.png

Will rotate on the left with Kelvin while my young prodigy Are Sellin develops. A great signing for fuck all.

http://i64.tinypic.com/2dcg13o.png

A complete punt, but his mental stats look lovely for his age.

http://i66.tinypic.com/2zfq0kn.png

My new first choice striker. My coaches reckon he's basically playing at his peak so his anticipation and composure are a bit lower than I'd like, but everything else is perfect. Reminds me a little of Armando Randazzo, the Italian Superman from my Rangers game of a few years ago.

And now the two youngsters who've been promoted for this season.

http://i67.tinypic.com/2nqcpie.png

Signed for just over a million quid nine months ago, at which point he was nothing like that good. He's basically improved two points in everything over that time, so I'm throwing him in at the deep end and he'll be my first choice right back for this season.

http://i66.tinypic.com/spu3aw.png

The winger mentioned earlier. He cost me three million quid, which is a bit steep, but my scouts were raving about him and my coaches have done the same, so I'm hoping it pays off.

There are a few other young players I've signed over the course of the game who are out on loan at the moment and look capable of becoming something. I'll do a post of them later.

John

My chosen few currently out on loan. I reckon the first two will be coming straight back to some serious involvement in the first team, while the third, the only one from my own youth system, will need another year or two on loan before he can step up.

Asensio is transferlisted by Real on mine in 2018, but I don't use AMCs, and I think I can find a better suited player to replace Candreva as AMR long-term. :(

Ah, is he one of these cheap wonderkids everyone gets at the start then? (assuming he doesn't make it at Madrid) I haven't signed those types since CM0102 with the exception of Barbosa over the years.

No, because he's just moved, is obscenely talented, and starts the game on loan at Espanyol. I'm not even sure how you've interpreted that from anything said here.

So you're basing the idea that he might be available on the cheap on a save in which he went for forty two million? Bang on brand.

Real Madrid don't let anyone go on the cheap if my save is anything to go by. They managed to get fourteen million off Man Utd for a thirty three year old Benzema, which I'm sure makes your heart sing joyous music.

On the subject of centre backs, I've just lost out on a physically monstrous one on a free transfer for the second time in two years. Last time the twat picked Galatasaray over me for an extra fifteen grand a week, which seemed fair enough. This year I've lost out on someone who wanted twenty five because Man City have buzzed in and given him fucking three hundred grand a week. What's that about, you twats?

After 2 17th place finishes with Gillingham (the first of which wasn't a full season) my team has finally clicked and we've been bouncing between 2nd and about 6th. I get the feeling Luton and Watford will piss the league and automatic promotion spots, but I need to try and stay in contention for the Play Offs. Unfortunately my star CB who has been incredible lately has decided it's time to fuck off. He's out of contract in the summer and a bid from the mighty Millwall (way below me in the table) turned his head and he refuses to stay, so I had to sell him. I managed to get £100k for a player I signed a year ago for less than £5k.... but I still feel gutted as I was on the verge of giving him a long term deal. Not sure I can replace him either. I'm scouting like crazy but a loan wouldn't really help me as I already max out on the 5 loanees allowed in the squad almost every game... but the only CB who is listed and decent (though not as good) would cost me all of the £100k I got. I get the feeling not getting him to sign earlier will cost me promotion.

I need a new challenge. Suggestions please.

Looking for a club of reasonable stature that's not necessarily fallen on hard times (but obvs open to suggestions) that need a bit of TLC, a bit of a makeover to get them back on an even keel. Anywhere in Europe suits me.

Go go go!

Reg
16-12-2015, 07:52 PM
Clunge Torino were good in the forties... And you'd have a nice challenging rivalry with Juve.

Stuttgart won the Bundesliga 9 years ago but now it's not unusual to see them near the relegation zone.

Clunge

Ta Reg, I had a really good save with Torino on FM14 I think. Might take a look at them. Stuttgart was one that crossed my mind too. Would potentially be looking for a bit more of a tough gig than those two though.

Anyone else chaps?

Jimmy Floyd

I'm trying to flog players as Chelsea. Why will nobody take Ramires, even for free? He's only on £80,000 a week.

On the cheap I've got rid of Diego Costa (£15 million to PSG), Fabregas (£13 million to PSG) and brought in various young English players as well as Berardi, but it's difficult to conclude the deal I want, for James Ward-Prowse, as I just can't offload people for love nor money.

AE
16-12-2015, 09:11 PM
Are you flogging them off because of real life performances, or are they just as shite in the game?

Jimmy Floyd
16-12-2015, 09:16 PM
I'm trying to get rid of the high wage tossers at the start and remake the club around young players.

John
16-12-2015, 09:36 PM
It's next to impossible to get rid of a player you actually want rid of, even on the cheap. A better bet would be to just set low asking prices on the players you want out the door and let them leave as and when bids come in.

Reg
16-12-2015, 09:43 PM
That's something I really don't like about the past few versions. Clearly teams would take Ramires on a free to use Jim's example.

Dark Soldier
16-12-2015, 09:50 PM
I listed Joe Allen for 2.5mil, about 15mil less than his value, and I was getting bids of about 600k. Its annoying as hell.

John
16-12-2015, 09:52 PM
It's currently pissing me off with a twat who I almost certainly will end up losing for fuck all. He's worth twenty three million and has a release clause of thirty. He won't sign a new contract and his current one is up in two years, so I've decided to cash in now. If I offer him out for anything above his release clause there's no takers, if I offer him out for anything below his release clause the only bids that come in are for half of whatever I asked for. If I make the offer non-negotiable, no matter what I'm asking for, there are no takers. It looks like I'm going to have to take about fifteen million for him, which is the sort of cut price nonsense I was hoping to avoid by binning him a year early.

He cost buttons so it'll still be something like a hundred thousand percent profit, but I can already smell the fan backlash.

Toby
16-12-2015, 09:53 PM
It's even worse when they ask to leave, refuse contracts from whatever club makes a rare offer, then complain that you've failed to meet your promise of finding them a move.

Jimmy Floyd
16-12-2015, 09:54 PM
Southampton took him for £0 in the end after I told Emenalo to do it for me.

Set up a terrible side as follows:

GK Courtois
DR Dave
DL Andy Robertson (signed from Hull)
DC John Terry
DC Zouma (donning it so far)
MC Mikel / Matic
MC Oscar
AMC Ward-Prowse
LW Hazard
RW Willian
ST Berardi, who probably won't score all season.

Half the above are injured so five consecutive draws, three of them 0-0, is a satisfactory start but it'll have to improve or I'll be sacked.

Toby
16-12-2015, 09:55 PM
I expect Zouma will continue to don it for the full duration of that save. He appears to become one of the best defenders in the game.

John

Gray Fox
17-12-2015, 03:44 PM
It doesn't matter as much when they are still young. If he's back at 18/19 there's still 2/3 years of development time. It's when it hits them later, say 22/23. Players don't tend to improve too much beyond that so that's when it becomes annoying.

I'm hopeless at developing youngsters. I took on a few 4-star potential players in my first season and they've all slowly regressed to the point coaches are saying they have "the potential to be a decent player", by which they tend to mean first team for a middling Championship club. I'm bad enough at rotating senior players, never mind risking a result for some hopeless noob.

Bernanke
17-12-2015, 05:27 PM
I really need to re-invent my tactic approach. The controlling game isn't working for me with Lazio anymore, I just lay siege to my opponents and win shot statistics by 2-4x, but I still lose or draw too many of them.

Counter it is.

Get some feeder clubs and max out your youth facilities. Sign these youngsters at 16/17 where possible and give them a season or two learning the language and developing under a tutor. When they get to 19 think about loaning them out. But only do so to teams wanting them as a key player/first team regular. If they're just short repeat again at age 20. If by 21 they're still not close to say 20 starts a season, it's time to think about selling them on.
Obviously being in a lower quality league does mean you can bed them in quicker.

I've caused a bit of a problem for myself. This Egyptian nutter has been out on loan for the last three years, but his development blew up over the course of the last season and he's now far too good to be loaned out. The problem is that the right wing slot is locked down, I have two first team strikers for one place already, and I have the most valuable player at the club and a wonderkid from my own youth system at AMC.

He might make a good left winger, but I already have two players there, neither of whom have any interest in them. He's also very right footed, so he could be wasted out there.

Quite proud of this, considering the respective success of the last four seasons, last year's second half of season in particular has reaped twelve World Golden Ball nominees.

Yesterday my house-mate asked me how my Football Manager game was going, as a gamer himself, and he found it odd that after three years now (in-game) of winning everything how I would still be interested in the game. It was odd explaining that as this was the fruits of the dynasty building coming to light, that the continued success of successive generations of young players would cause continued enjoyment.

He didn't get it. :)

John

The board have upped my maximum number of coaches from eleven to twenty, so I've given the staff a huge boost in the form of Dennis Bergkamp, Daniele de Rossi, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I already had Cristiano Ronaldo and Arda Turan on the coaching staff and Ricardo Carvalho as my assistant manager, so I reckon the coaching staff would probably fuck my first team at fives.

There's not even a final appearance to speak of, and we're now comfortably the second most valuable club in the nation (worth over three Portos) with a Champion's League quarter final as our best performance.

Yeah, I reckon the quality of newgens changes depending on where you're managing aswell. When managing in England, for example, I've never seen anything like the sort of quality English newgens I see when I'm managing elsewhere. There's one sitting without a club at the moment in this game, just taunting me with his obscene stats and wage demands, who is better than anything I've ever seen England produce when I'm managing there, and he isn't even the best to come through the West Brom system.

Who would be the best club to go with a view to building an entire squad from the youth system? I'd rather not go on of the real top tier clubs, so the likes of Bayern and Manchester United are out, but anything below that could be a goer. I'm thinking either Schalke or Stuttgart, who'd provide a decent base of players right off the bat, and should produce some good players going forward, being German, but I'm open to ideas.

You could probably field close to a full eleven from their own youth system right off the bat. Bordeaux have created the single best French player in my current game, but they don't appear to have done anything else. Athletic are frontrunners for the moment, but I'm slightly hesitant only because building from their own youth system is sort of what they do anyway. Dinamo are a possibility, but winning the domestic league would be a serious canter every year and I doubt they're sufficiently big to hold onto the better newgens for long enough to make a real dent in Europe.

I reckon Maritimo might have a season or two left in it before I park it for a while, so I'll give it some thought.

Assuming he isn't one of those irritating twats who come through with great initial stats and no room to grow he should be shit hot. I've only had one player of real value come through my youth system in this game, but he was a first teamer at seventeen and is now my first choice playmaker and a Portuguese international, so I can't really judge it too harshly for that.

Promoted in the first season with Luton, finishing second and nine points behind champions Portsmouth and seven ahead of third-placed Oxford.

We absolutely shit the bed towards the end of the season though, winning 6 in 20. I blame injuries, but I'm also not sure if it's just my tactic not being that productive.

Not looking forward to the League 1 slog with no money.

I had a crash dump about halfway through the transfer window yesterday and didn't bother putting the game back on. Turned it on this morning and it's deposited me on the 27th of December. Barcelona were already interested in Camilo at this point, so their bid came in and he left exactly as he did before, but now Bayern have a 'major interest' in my best centre back and a 'minor interest' in my second best. :moop:

A couple of youth signings to end the transfer window. They cost £7 and £13m but as we still have £28m in the bank after these deals, I thought we could afford it. When prize and TV money kicks in in the off season we should have a good £100m there(thanks BT), especially with looking like securing a Champions League spot.

Both look promising and come from Standard.

https://gyazo.com/c5bf269d1c7a2513f4798f81305c9741.png

The cheaper of the two, with an apparent 2* of growth in him, he could well become a good squad/rotational option in the future. But he wont be playing here yet, so he stays on loan at Standard, where he's in the team. He did play 15 times on loan in France last year, albeit not well.

It's left the table like so:

https://gyazo.com/184efc120f4b45fc0409b3aa1be020f5.png

That defeat being so heavy has cost us in more than one way. My last 3 fixtures are Chelsea, City and Swansea, all at home. City have us, Villa(a) and Leicester(h). I'll obviously have to win at least the first 2 of those games if not all 3. I'm already in the CL group stages so it's all on this.

Lastly, my game is still broken.

We beat City 1-0 after they turned up without a recognised striker. It was a dull game with only 1 chance and we took it.

They beat Villa 3-0 and the final day table starts out like this. The pressure is on now, knowing that we don't just need to win, but probably win by 2 or 3.

I bought a new striker at the start of last season after my number nine for the previous season was a bit of a disappointment. The new striker started like a fucking train, with thirteen goals in eight league games, before breaking his leg. At that point Pedro Marques, the cock from the season before, came back in and he's been unbelievable ever since. He's about eleven at the start of the game, but if you get the chance to sign him, take it.

Thirty five goals and ten assists in about three quarters of last season, and he's on twenty two goals and seven assists halfway through this one. The other bloke has much better attributes, but Marques is leaving him miles behind.

http://i64.tinypic.com/10olkld.png

There must be some voodoo going on with his hidden stats, because while he does look very good, he's not the sort of special player who should be mincing teams, even in this shithole of a league.

We did our job against Swansea seeing out the most nervy of 1-0s.

I had to hide the latest scores tab at half-time. City were winning 1-0 too.

https://gyazo.com/b52ba6f4552e46a8a60812595e09b48b.png

We've only gone and done it. It wasn't quite by the single goal as it may appear. Had they won 2-0 we would still have taken it by some way on goals scored. Either way we've done what Liverpool 13/14 did by using the lack of Europa League football to propel us up he table. Only without the complete mental breakdown bottle job with 3 games to go.

If I recall rightly, we should now not only be in the group stages but as champions we should be number 1 seeds. Chelsea have had quite the fall from getting 95 points last year and I'll be trying to nab some of their players with the lure of dining at Europes' top table.

To improve the squad (https://gyazo.com/46f7191d3cce5f8f2336ef375ca75d7b)I've been handed £44m and my wage budget has been upped to £2m a week, of which we use £1.3m.

I'll be looking for a starting DC and a top striker. I'd love to make Asensios loan permanent but they want £47m for him and I just can't justify that. A few contracts will have to be negotiated as a fair few have release clauses below £40m. A few fringe players will hopefully leave.

I've also just been rewarded by being on the clubs favoured personnel list and with this news item:

https://gyazo.com/c1a9e59c6caf95dbda20e8131ae4c8d1.png

Annoyingly we did have the money in the bank to cover this, but we now find ourselves in about £90m debt for the next 10 years. The rest coming through the new boards takeover of the club. The new capacity will be up around 48,000.

My aim for next year is to see us back into the top 4. It will be tough with the added games, but it all depends who gets added in the summer.

I've taken the huff with my Maritimo side after a prolonged spell of guff form and conceding last minute equalisers/winners, so I've started that Bilbao youth game. With absolutely zero interest in transfers and first window budgets turned off it's taken me fifteen minutes to reach the end of August.

They're less mental than the Schalke trio, but Bilbao actually start off with a shitload of good youth prospects. Unai Lopez is the most obvious of them and Kepa Arrizabalaga, who starts out on loan, looks like a great goalkeeper in the making. There's a striker there I've never heard of though, Fran Villalibre, who's seventeen years old with thirteens all over the place in his attributes.

Then there's Inaki Williams, who's just scored a hat trick in his first game for me, a Europa League qualifier against Debrecen. He looks like great fun.

Nahki Wells has all of a sudden turned into a goal machine and seems to be scoring 1-2 goals a game for me at the moment. He's just scored twice in injury time to turn a 1-2 loss at Coventry into a 3-2 win. It's a shame I have next to no hope of keeping him as even though he wants to stay, he's on 10k a week at Burnley and they want £250k to sell him. If his contract was up in the Summer I'd have a slim hope but it's not. I guess I'll need to try loan him again.

Still up in 4th place in the League, somehow, but the real story is the FA Cup. We faced Wycombe in round 1 who were 1 division below us and then Ebbsfleet who were 2 below us. We've done it the hard way drawing twice with Wycombe before winning a shoot out, and throwing away a 3-0 lead at Ebbsfleet to set up a replay before beating them 3-0 at home (in both games 2 different players I sold them in the summer scored own goals :D). Our reward for shitting our way through? Liverpool at home in round 3. And it's on TV so we've already netted £150k for that. If only the board would use it to sign me a certain striker....

Unbeaten run finally over with a 1-0 at Anfield. I hadn't realised that it spanned back ten games in the previous season so it was doubly frustrating that this was the twenty-eighth game of this one. Neither an unbeaten season nor an unbeaten 38-game run for me this time around.

Although I'm Norwich in 2018, so to even be talking about 37-game unbeaten run, and separated from league leaders Arsenal only on goal difference, still feels absolutely ludicrous. Spurs up next, who stand with Liverpool as a team I cannot seem to beat no matter what I do.

I'm contemplating having Tettey give his Ronaldo treatment to Son - that little prick seems to score at least one goal every time we play.

Athletic Bilbao are not a fun club to manage. Half the squad are whinging twats, which is a big problem when you can't just sell and replace them. It's impossible to find a coach who'll even sit down to talk about a contract and their six man coaching staff at the beginning contains three middling fitness coaches and one terrible goalkeeper coach.

I think I'm done with that particular game, which is a shame since their first eleven are a fun group of players and the challenge is a good one.

I thought that, Floyd. They start off with a few cracking players but they all have interest in them immediately. Pjaca, who I think has been tearing it up for Toby, looks like probably the best player at the club at the beginning.

It's a bit of a shame that the best youth prospect at the club appears to be pinched from Barcelona, because I had no intention of training players up with the express purpose of selling them on, but that's what'll have to happen there.

Dinamo, Red Star and Steaua are all great youth saves and eastern European glory. Chuck Sparta Prague in there too. Will definitely do a Dinamo save on FM16. Had great saves with all the above on FM14. Sparta were definitely the easiest to push on with, I think their rep must be the highest of them.

I got bored, so replaced the top 3 leagues in England with a 4 regional divisions, with the top 2 from each going into a mini-league, and bottom 3 going into a relegation mini-league. It's kinda fun so far.

My Maritimo tactic seemed to be working very well in the beginning, and the roles suited my players perfectly, but a dicking at the hands of Ajax in the Champion's League seems to have put paid to that, and we're now absolutely shite.

Pjaca is a particular problem at the moment. He's playing like someone with a tenth of his stats and still feels justified in kicking up a fuss when I tell the team they're shit at two nil down at home to ninth in the league. It'll be a blow to my plans of an all Dinamo squad but I'm selling that fucker.

Toby
21-12-2015, 01:17 PM
He's the opposite on mine - his stats aren't the best in the team but his performances are by a distance. He's been a Drogba-like presence in big games as well.

He did mug me off a bit with recent contract negotiations but other than that I've never had any issues with him attitude wise.

John
21-12-2015, 01:37 PM
He was shit hot initially, and his numbers still look decent as a result, but he's contributed fuck all for about two months now. He was at his best against the turd we played to qualify for the Champion's League, so there's a whiff of flat-track bully on him.

He's just had another moan. We'd beaten bottom of the league one nil at home, but had less possession and shots on target than the opposition, so I told them they'd need to up their game. Everyone is fired up but Pjaca, who then pitches up to moan at me for being harsh after the game. He's not sure if he wants to stay at the club, apparently. Get to fuck then, you arse.

He hit me with the 'I'm not doing it for you' cuntery when I congratulated him on his first international goal too, so there were big question marks over his attitude right from the start.

2 games played, lost against Chelsea in Community shield, and narrowly beat West Ham away 1-2.

It seems once again like it will be impossible for me to figure out some sort of decent, direct & counter attack approach. I usually manage to play OK possession football, but can never do the countering properly.

Toby
21-12-2015, 01:44 PM
Redmond is my "flat track bully" type. I've played in four semi-finals (so six matches given the two legs of League Cup) and two finals since Pjaca joined, and I'm pretty sure his record across those is over one a game. Admittedly that included some crap opposition but he's done much the same against the better teams of the league. I think he also tends to be one of the first to get upset if I say something too deferential (unlucky to lose etc), so it's interesting to see how different things are for us. I guess with him being young at the start of the game there will be some level of randomisation to his hidden stats.

John
21-12-2015, 01:57 PM
He's just managed an 8.6 rating in a scoreless draw in which he made no key passes. The fucker is trolling me.

Toby
21-12-2015, 02:02 PM

John
21-12-2015, 02:05 PM
Right wing as an attacking inside forward.

Toby
21-12-2015, 02:06 PM
I mostly play him on the left, and often in a supporting rather than attacking role, but otherwise the same.

John
21-12-2015, 02:12 PM
He plays on the left occasionally, but he's first choice on the right. His attributes are developing nicely and his value is going up, so something is working right, he's just contributing nothing. It's strange.

John
21-12-2015, 03:02 PM
A slight tactical shift, though not one that affects his position at all, has seen Marko Pjaca turn it on in a big way. Four goals and three assists in his last four games.

And with impeccable timing he's asked to leave for Seville because he wants to play in the Champion's League. Could have sworn our next game was against Ajax in that competition.

Got in Ajer, Romero, Cubas, Zivkovic and Luan. Managed to keep hold of Stones and Barkley - may sell him in the summer as his passing stats not great.

Currently 5th and Stoke 6th. Thrashed ManUtd, but lost to Bournemouth aswell.

I had a really good game with Dinamo in FM14, John, but just couldn't crack Europe and eventually this, coupled with the monotony of walking the league each year, caused me to jack it in.

After three consecutive promotions (all of which were demanded by Chairman Tapas), my Stockport side found themselves in League One, where we were, for once, not expected to win the league, merely finish top half. Then this happened:

https://i.gyazo.com/bc24aa5a43bc680117d118b14fc79a3c.png

So I find myself in the Championship, where if I'm honest I need to stay for a couple of seasons. The board keep ploughing all the cash we have, which is minimal, into the facilities. I have yet to ask them to do this, they tak it upon themselves, but it means we are currently 500k in the red. As a result they then give me bugger all playing budget, so I'll be scrabbling round the free transfer and loan markets. Again.

Last season my DOF signed me a kid from Ireland who supposedly has bags of potential. I was a bit dubious about confirming the deal especially as he had been offered £2k a week, which was a lot for an 18 year old, but as he had glowing reports and had already won a full cap for Ireland, I decided to take a punt. With not much to play for that season he got some games and did OK. Going into the new season I saw him as a back up player but wanted to get him game time so tried to bring him on whenever possible. He then kicked up a fuss about not playing enough and given I didn't want to lose him, and the guy ahead of him in the team had been shit, I gave him a go. He's been incredible since then and has improved a lot, but yet despite the fact he's started 12 (and before that, come on in 4) of our 23 leagues games, and he missed 2 months with injury, he's still not happy. I've just got a message, about 3 games after he returned from injury, saying he "understands the injury has delayed things, but he expects to see improvements in his playing time shortly". What? You're playing every single fucking game when you're fit....

The fact the AI are unwilling to pay the figures you ask of them, whilst at the same time demanding ludicrous figures for players you want from them, has tarnished every version since FM12 at least. If you want my star centre back who's worth £3 million then offers of £500k spread over 48 months really aren't going to cut it. If the boot was on the other foot the AI would be demanding £15 million+.

EDIT: And now somebody has come to me complaining about the lack of first team football. Yeah, that'll be because it's fucking July, and we've yet to even play a competitive game, you cockwomble.

Once a player decides he wants to leave, is there any point fighting it?

I've got Luke Norris as one of my strikers (the only decent one I actually own, though I have 2 great loan strikers). In my first season he was seen as a back up but due to no one scoring I gave him a go and he was an improvement. I changed tactics for season 2 and used him as a Target Man and he dominated the league, finishing as the 2nd top scorer behind only LeFondre at Bolton despite us finishing 17th. This season he's been fantastic again in our promotion push. Right now we're in a 3 way tie with Luton and Boro at the top of the table... and all of a sudden Boro have decided they want him. They put in a bid but as I'd just extended his contract and he has 2.5 years to go, I turned it down. He then kicked up a fuss and couldn't be convinced to see it out til the end of the season to help us get promoted. No matter what he said he insisted he wants to go. I offered them to him for £1m and they agreed to pay £800,000 which is a lot for me... but I just don't think we'll be the same team without him, and him going to a promotion rival will pretty much swing it away from us. I'm half tempted to turn it down... but will he turn to shit and screw me over either way?

It's annoying because I poached Luton's keeper on deadline day, thinking it would give me the edge.... :D

I've had to take a punt and reject it. We already lost our best CB in this window and losing him too would take the piss, but this time my hands aren't tied due to how long is left on his deal. I hope, eventually, he'll stop being a cunt.

I've persuaded a few to stay.

Gutted I couldn't keep hold of this lad though - attributes are nothing special but he did a great job for me from League 2 up to the Championship with constant improvement and was a 4.5* in my coaches eyes. Signed on a free from Derry as a 17 year old, I turned down £1.5m for him the summer before he walked on us to sit on Derby's bench.

That, fans expectations and media questions are just completely broken.

The highlight of my last season, where we finished third only after drawing on the final day - having started the season hoping to maybe squeeze in to the top half - was that we beat Sunderland 4-1 Not that we beat City, United or Arsenal, or that we won the FA Cup, of course. And sometimes I'll play somebody who rarely plays for a couple of games, he'll get injured or suspended, and the media will ask, "That's a blow, is this a chance for [guy who has played every single other game] to prove himself?"

Thankfully it's all pretty irrelevant.

EDIT: I think I posted a screenshot of the worst one I've seen.

"The fans are very disappointed that the team recently failed to beat Juventus". That failure to win being the 1-1 draw, in a game we played for an over an hour with ten men, that essentially guaranteed we would qualify from the group. Norwich, getting four points over Juventus, to qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League. Norwich.

Another option is to blood 5 or 6 youngsters, cash in on some of the big names in the squad, and see what happens there. Walden and Reed have been class since they came in and there's a few other decent looking ones there.

Yeah it's probably worth one more shot at it, even though I don't know if this team can beat 2 or 3 of the huge teams to do it. Even if I'd done Barcelona, all I needed was 1-0 at home but got a 0-0, I'd still have had Madrid waiting in the final.

Mitrovic, Denayer, and Smalling have been quite good this season although one really top class one would probably make a big difference. Van Dijk wants to leave too.
Semedo is as much an assist machine as he is a yellow card machine. Great going to say he was never played further forward than right back too and I'd recommend him for anyone to take a look at if they're starting out. Not sure where he comes from as I paid big to Chelsea for him in 2019.

My first youth intake was a box of shit, which doesn't befit the supposed cradle of Croatian football. It's a bit annoying, but not a particular problem since Dinamo start with about eight hundred sixteen year olds on the books. The winter transfer window was a fucking nightmare (I turn off first window budgets), as clubs came in for about fifteen of my players. A few of them were first teamers, but mostly it was vulturous twats trying to nick my youngsters. I ended up selling a foetus named Josip Brekalo to Valencia because he was being a particularly vocal twat about me rejecting their first approach. He looks like he'll be excellent, but I'll be getting 40% of any sale so I'm not too worried about losing him.

Pjaca has turned into an absolute demon. He'll still be sold, but now it'll be because he's shit hot and I can't keep him rather than because he's a crap twat who won't shut up.

Fucking hell... this game.

I was 2 points off the automatic places and had to play top of the table Bradford. My best CM player was suspended but other than that I had a full strength side. I was thinking how remarkable it was I'd had relatively few injuries this season.... but guess they were saving them up. On 36 minutes I lost my other regular CM to injury, meaning I had to move one of my wingers into the middle, but he then opened the scoring. On the hour I lost my right winger but I normally sub him for another one around that time anyway, so didn't mind too much and off he went. Bradford then head in a corner and I bring on Nahki Wells, who was my prolific scorer before a 2 month injury sidelined him. Minutes later, predictably, I get another injury, this time to my LB, and I'm down to 10 men. One of my CM pair moves to RB and the RB moves to LB... and we're a mess, but Wells somehow grabs a goal on the break for 2--1. But we're not finished yet as the CM who moved to RB then goes off for yet another injury, leaving us with 9 men. My RW moves to RB despite not being at all able to play there.... by only remaining CM (who started on the wing) moves to holding midfield because we're so fucked and Wells moves to the wing, again despite not being able to play there at all. Their keeper then charges out like a mad man for a long ball and kicks it straight to Wells who smashes home from 40 yards and somehow we've won 3-1.... what the fuck was that?

I'm playing FM15 but it's much the same. I'm three or four seasons in and I've had some crazy things happen. Four players injured in the same training ground 'robust challenge' and one who got two different injuries in the same day.

It's almost certainly confirmation bias but it really does appear that the game hates me sometimes.

Something a little eerie is going on in my game.... :sherlock: :

I'm in January 2016, and:

- Leicester are top of the league
- Vardy is top scorer
- Me (Arsenal) and City are battling in 2nd and 3rd place
- Chelsea are doing bad
- Man Utd are doing bad
- Mourinho has been sacked
- Luis van Gaal has been sacked
- Mourinho has been appointed Man Utd manager

What the actual fuck :cab:

Following the sack from Chelsea I've started again with Leeds and have won each of my first eight matches, so there's definitely something very wrong with the game mechanics.

He was comfortably the best player in the squad in the end, so it's nice of him to stay. We won the league by three points from Rijeka, who sprung a bit of a surprise and were actually top on goal difference going into the last day, where they were biffed by Hajduk while I beat Lokomotiv Zagreb.

Going in I was thinking I'd get by without making a single signing, but I've decided I'm going to allow myself to bring back older players who started off with Zagreb and left, so I'll hopefully get a thirty nine year old Modric in at some point. First on that list is Eduardo, the reason I've changed the rules, who would be immediately and comfortably my best striker. He's at Shakhtar with a few months to go on his contract and earning within my budget, so it's definitely workable. For all the great youth prospects at this club, and there are a fucking ton of them, there are no strikers.

Aye, FM15 is a shambles for this at times. I have 8 first teamers out for a month or more, and as one comes back he's simply replaced by another one. My squad is so small that this means I'm only able to name 3 subs half the time. Makes you wonder why you bother.

You should expand your squad.

You should expand your squad.

It's still a bit of a joke though. 2015 was horrendously unrealistic for injuries.

That said, in my experience anyway, they've pretty much fixed it in 2016. They're not overbearing for the most part, and you pick up more short ones later in the season which is fairly realistic.

I've got so little to work with in terms of a budget that unfortunately it simply isn't possible. I started the season with 22, and have plugged a couple of gaps with loanees from parent club Villa, but there's simply no money left to get anybody else in.

Another realistic thing: I've had a fuckload of injuries here at Arsenal all year :harold:

Specially the English lads.

As Exeter the grand total of spending in my first three seasons was £4.5k, everyone else came in on frees. It's paid off though, we made £10m last year and in what seems to be some kind of crazy alternate universe we're top of the Championship a third of the way through the season.

Just had a game away at 19th placed Exeter where we drew 2-2 and we had a man sent off and they were given 2 penalties including one which was the last kick of the game. This kept us 2nd on GD behind the leaders Bradford when really we should have taken command. With 2 games to go the top of the table was:

Bradford- 81
Gillingham- 81
- - - - - - - - -
Luton- 79
Watford- 78
Middlesbrough- 76

And then a bunch of people who don't matter.

Away at Rochdale and guess what.... they open the score from the spot. We're temporarily 3rd in the table but we come back to win 2-1 while Bradford lose, Luton lose and Watford play out a 4-4 draw. We're so close to the title....

My thoughts have been so firmly on the title after that that I didn't even notice that confirmed our promotion. :D It's been a close run thing all season and I was convinced Luton would pip us to it when they destroyed us 4-1 and went on what looked like an unstoppable run.... but nope. Not bad after 2 17th place finishes. I just need to work our how on earth I'm going to replace my 2 top scorers (Nahki Wells and Julian Ngoy) if I can't get them back next year. Wells is a possibility as he's only valued at about 200k though I expect his wages to be an issue.... Ngoy I inquired about and they wanted £8m.....

Edit: Nahki broke my heart. I opened talks but his agent wouldn't listen to wage offers less than £20k a week... even with next years budget all I could offer was £8k so it failed. Nahki then immediately sacked his agent and given he previously said he wanted to join us I was hopeful... but no, the exact same negotiations happened.

We dominated the last game but somehow found ourselves 0-2 down... not that it mattered as Bradford were losing. We battled back to a 2-2 draw to secure the point we needed to win the title anyway, but Bradford flopped and Luton join us in the Championship.

Jesus.... Ngoy has just made the Belgium squad for the Euros despite playing in League 1. That's insane.

I've persuaded a few to stay.

Gutted I couldn't keep hold of this lad though

And just like that I'm poached by Crystal Palace and none of it matters. This should be interesting.

I'm going to give Stoke a go, and try to continue with their novel Barcelonish ways.
