The Wolves version of the "we've got x, his full name is x, I just don't think you understand" song is one of the worst I've heard of a terrible bunch. Ruben Neves' name just doesn't fit. Do it for Diogo Jota instead, at east his name works, and it would have been bang on today.

Chelsea reverting to what was expected at the start of the season.
Teams should go all out for Hazard and Kante in the summer. I know the latter has signed a new deal, but if he's not going to play in his proper position . . .
Jimmy Floyd
19-01-2019, 06:14 PM
He's actually been pretty good in the new position of late, but unfortunately I think it all comes down to the fact that Sarri doesn't think black men can pass.

Sarriball mate. Sarriball. Arsenal just havent adapted to it yet.
This seems to be Chelsea Twitter's favourite argument. 'He hasn't got the players to suit his philosophy and tactics, mate.'
What if he adapted his tactics to the players he has? What then?
Sir Andy Mahowry
19-01-2019, 06:37 PM
Sarriball has to be the worst philosophy going round these days. It's so dull.

19-01-2019, 06:40 PM
The concept of 'Sarriball' – or 'Sarrismo' – is essentially a fast-paced, possession-based style of attacking football often likened to a vertical tiki-taka. Much like the style of play made famous by Pep Guardiola during his reign at Barcelona, Sarriball features short and quick passes designed to move play as far up the pitch as quickly as possible.
Essentially, Sarriball is a method of high-pressing play (though not to be confused with Jurgen Klopp's gegenpressing) that forces defenders into making mistakes, which are then punished by the attack.
Fuck off mate.
Jimmy Floyd
19-01-2019, 06:47 PM
I could use many words to describe our play this season, but none of them would be 'vertical'.
Still, 62% possession. You should get a bonus point for that.
Shindig
19-01-2019, 06:50 PM
If teams got a bonus point for doing that, we'd be miles adrift. Possession is dead.
Gray Fox
19-01-2019, 06:52 PM

It's a bit like when 'LvG' said the problem with his tactics were not the tactics themselves, but that he didn't have Sergio Aguero or Luis Suarez scoring forty goals a year. That was basically what he had at Napoli, and the Italian league is shit as well.

Also that he would be the only manager other than Wenger to beat Chelsea at the Emirates...

Jimmy Floyd
19-01-2019, 07:23 PM
The main feature of us under Sarri is that minutes, hours pass by without anything happening in the game. Just passing. Pass, pass, pass, pass, lose it, pass pass pass, win it back, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, throw in, etc.

Zero chance we appoint Sir Rafa Benitez. From what I've read, I think they're happy to stick with Sarri, but if we come 6th again and lose Hazard in the summer we'll be on a very slippery road to nowhere.
Better players would get us closer to 2nd/3rd but Sarri is a bad coach, he'll never get anything more than par out of a squad. And our recruitment is an embarrassing joke as well so no way those good players will ever materialise.
lol remember when Avram Grant got caught brothel-creeping and was just like 'yeah mate so what I go in my club tracksuit'.

Right, so, I don't watch goals on Sunday that much, but I've just tuned in to this cracker from Chris Kamara regarding Chris Woods' disallowed goal for Burnley yesterday:
(paraphrasing)
Woods can't score with his arm so you draw the line from the first part of his body he can play the ball with, but Holdebas can score an own goal with his arm (the implication being that is the point from which the defensive line is drawn) so he's onside
Wait, what? Is that really 'the rule'?

It’s probably difficult to motivate players in that situation. He also should look at his own motivation – shouldn’t he be setting an example to commitment? How about quitting smoking? Or turning up on match day dressed like a professional ready to go to work, rather than looking like he just rolled out of bed and dragged yesterday’s tracksuit out of the pile of clothes on the floor?

Arsenal were dreadful.
From starting like a house on fire that little twat Torreira hasn't half been shite for the last month or so. When you've got him and Xhaka, and, allegedly, a back 4 you really shouldn't be getting countered on so easily. They probably need the best part of a new back 4, mind, and how do you solve a problem like Alex Iwobi?
Felt like United scored with every decent attack they had, and what on earth Cech was doing with that parry for the third fuck only knows.
Someone's going to give them a good shoeing at some point (as is the way with these things it'll probably be City seeing as 'Ney Ney' has died for PSG again)
Shindig
26-01-2019, 09:50 AM
Arsenal just can't break the Arsene way. There's no swiftness or directness to anything they do. Guendouzi came on and would just not ping something across the box. When you've got Lacazette, you might as well go airbourne or give him something to attack. Not piddly little side passes when the box is already clogged with Mancs.

Aye, it'll take a decade train some of that out of them. Hopefully Urai can get that time. Meanwhile, I'm starting to wonder if Mourinho, great as he's been, has too much baggage with him to really work a club out. Solksjaer's got the job nailed down, assuming he keeps it up until May.

Mourinho is a prick. He cares more about being right than anything else and will burn a club to the ground to try and prove a point. Stunts like sending McTominay out as a centre back to get slaughtered just to make a petty point to the board about not buying him the players he wants was a disgrace.
I think another top club would be insane to hire him.

Arsenal after the Kroenke takeover are just Mike Ashley's Newcastle writ large. The gradual realisation of this in their fanbase (this is why Mislintat has fucked off already) is glorious.
All high earning players will be gradually phased out and replaced by cheaper versions. It's likely they've won their last league for a good long while. Could threaten in the odd cup with good selections.

Funnily enough it's not technically his fault. We literally can't pay a transfer fee and wages for anyone half decent because of FFP. From January to January we went from Ozil and Sanchez earning around 300k a week to Ozil earning that and 50k on top and 2 players on 200k a week.

I have to say, whatever benefit of the doubt I was inclined to give Mourinho - players not being up to it etc. - has pretty much vanished. I think certain players were still not giving it their all under him, but the transformation in the likes of Victor Lindelof and Ander Herrera suggests that it was a general thing rather than him just finding individuals difficult. I would still be trying to bring Smallpockets in, but it he BOTTLES IT then stick with the bin man.
