Lol at Vettel finishing fifth. Monster year from Sainz with that sixth place. Good year for Perez too would have been nice if he finished ahead of Ricciardo.
Vettel is a shadow of his former self. Didn't Ricciardo outshine him in his first season as a pair? This has happened again. Vettel is all over the place. The sooner he swaps his seat with the half-black man, the better. He needs a refresh.

George Russell is my fave of the young guns. Think he will end up at Merc.

He's getting a test in the Merc soon isn't he?

Yeah, he’s in the Merc for the Abu Dhabi test in a few days apparently.

So I watched The Silver War on youtube. It's a shame it's all just clips you can find online from races and paddock interviews but it still reminded me how interesting 2016 was. Hamilton having the reliability issues, Rosberg getting time penalties for some kinda minor stuff and then Hamilton trying to bring the pack into play in Abu Dhabi.
The crash in Austria definitely had some needle in it. Especially when Hamilton came back on the track. Also, Lewis Hamilton's interviews are always boring. "Thanks team, great work guys, I don't think about the past, etc." I know they're all drilled like that now but I like it when drivers get the digs in or speak their minds.

Mad take of the day: If I was a betting man I might be tempted to put a small wager on Nico Hulkenberg turning up at Ferrari next year and a slightly larger one on the following year. He doesn't seem to have sorted anything else to do and he's been suspiciously sanguine about missing out on the last couple of seats. Then there's the utterly incomprehensible decision from Haas to pass on him in favour of Grosjean which, in my little fantasy world, may have been due to a directive from Ferrari not to take him in case they needed a Vettel replacement at short notice.

Who do they have doing the Luca Badoer gig these days? It would be mad for them or Merc not to keep Hulk on a retainer/on the simulator just in case someone breaks a leg, although I guess Merc have options with Russell and whoever else is on their books.
I assumed the Haas thing was because Hulk and Kevin hate each other.

Antonio Fuoco is Ferrari's development driver so I guess he's the one on the side.

There's not a lot in their young driver programme so they'd need someone established. Perez is the other possibility.

Has someone left Ferrari or is it speculation Vettel will?

Wild speculation on my part.

Some could say he did a good while back.

The fact that they gave Leclerc the drive indicated they have sort of given up on Vettel, a motivated Seb would never have stood for that.
I'd like to see Ricciardo get a gig there, think he is the best racer on the grid outside the top three (and better than a few within it).

Has Hulk won a race yet?
Edit: No. He has gone 179 races without a win. The record for the most races without a win is 218. Sergio Perez and Grosjean are also in the top 5. Get these man out the sport.

He is famously without a podium in 179 starts (next highest in history Adrian Sutil in 128 memorable drives).

I probably should boast to anyone that cares that I've beaten Hulk with a control pad, while he is using a steering wheel during multiple FIA nations cup events on gran turismo.

He's had a few opportunities to get on the podium (and fluffed most of them) but he's not been in the most competitive cars. He's quick enough without being on the level of the top four or five, which would make him a perfect second driver.

I watched Champions Forever aka The Quick and the Dead (aka One by One) last night and .... boy, documentary film making has come a long way. There's so little to it. Maybe it's the edit or the fact most of the cast died off but, Francois Severt aside, you don't get a lot of insight. I suffered through the multiple musical montages just for that stuff, really. Props to the edit going from Severt's quote, "I'm never alone in my bed" barrelling into a 3 minute tit montage. And the bloke doing the music writing some basic 70's funk songs about racing.
And it opens with Tom Pryce's fatal crash which I still consider the most horrifying to watch.

I remember decades ago Dave Richards trying to get the name back in when ProDrive were trying to get on the grid.

They don't really, it's just the cost of getting a few hundred million off Lawrence Stroll. Better than going out of business I suppose.

British racing green back on the grid. Party like it's 2014.
