No, he's just a 'technocrat' who is too white and lacking in direct tower block experience to do the job.

David Lammy is a lawyer. Get him to do it.
It seems they basically want someone who is more likely to agree with them rather than someone who is impartial.
Which defeats the point somewhat.

:D
I suggested this to someone this morning.

Just blame it on white people and save the fucking cost of the enquiry.

Meanwhile I note this story has been getting some traction: https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/jul/03/labour-mps-urge-haringey-council-to-rethink-housing-sell-off
The Lammster can't have expected such a great 2017. He might get another book out of this.

They're still at it.
Police also faced questions as to why there had not as yet been any arrests.
Why do you fucking think?
It doesn't help that you have politicians whipping it up. Some of them just hate the idea of frameworks, laws, process.
Take David Lammy. Not only is he agitating over this, he was fully on board the requisitioning train, and his response to his side losing the referendum was to have a meltdown and go into overdrive demanding parliament just ignore the vote.

There's a level of stupidity pervading through all of this that really isn't helping matters. I find it bizarre that the same people who normally call for due process to be followed, human rights respected etc. are to all intents and purposes calling for a lynching.
David Lammy's comments on it being a shame it wasn't a woman in charge of the inquiry and that the chap chosen is too white/hasn't spent enough (or any) time staying in a high rise council block should be absolutely derided as well.
I'm also not completely comfortable with the term 'victims' being thrown around like confetti at this stage too.

I'm on the side of the people but I have to say the re-emergence of David Lammy is almost a similar level of crime as the negligence that caused the event in the first place.
What's next, Ketih Vaz?

It's a shame David Lammy isn't a woman.

Because then no-one would listen to him?
I've just zinged every end of the political compass with that one. Well done me.

Grenfell council 'may have committed corporate manslaughter' – Met police (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/jul/27/met-says-grenfell-council-may-have-committed-corporate-manslaughter?CMP=fb_gu)
I'll take my goddamn apologies now.

Oooh I bet your hard on is positively throbbing. Those 80 odd deaths look well worth it now just to hold THE ELITE to account.

The elite are not even close to being held to account. And I agree with David Lammy. "Corporate" manslaughter is insufficient. Individuals need to do jail time here.

I know he's a gigacunt, but the FA upholding Joey Barton's ban to prevent him from playing in a charity match for this seems like a shithouse move.

Why stop at jail time? A proper justice system would burn them to death.

What's the news there anyway? A building they respectively owned/managed burned down and lots of people died, of course there MAY have been an offence of corporate manslaughter. Weren't the complaints more that you had to look at what had happened before jumping to conclusions anyway?

It's just a statement the police have put out to ward off the lynch mob/conspiracy theorists for a while longer.
'May' really is the key word there, isn't it. It barely qualifies as news.

I did not realise that 40% of people who died in the twin towers still haven't been identified. Why on earth was that not banded around as a counterpoint to all the conspiracy theory stuff at Grenfell after only a week?

Because they know the exact death toll. The GRENFELL shit isn't about the identities because nobody cares, plus it was mostly illegals. They just want it to be exacerbated because numbers and outrage and free housing.

And TORIES.
Facts, or due process, barely matter any more. I read an interesting line on Twitter several months ago that the medium, and public discourse in general, was descending into people who were experts for ten minutes on a particular subject lecturing those who were expects for five minutes on why they're wrong.
'Henry' was on here demanding prosecutions on the basis of his own suppositions and an understanding of the issues that was probably, at absolute best, remedial and most likely one of almost complete ignorance. David Lammy has been particularly prominent on it, and his entire argument is founded on anecdotal reports and generally being angry about it all. Brillo did a pretty good job of taking him to task on it actually:

Lol at three things:
1) The absolute clowns that were like HUNDREDS ARE DEAD THEY ARE COVERING IT UP and now the Met have said the death toll will be below 80.
2) The absolute scum that defrauded the emergency fund for victims
3) The absolute scum that went around stealing from apartments
