Channel Nine has told Queensland health authorities that they risk Origin III being a “technical failure” as a television spectacle.
As it stands, Nine’s commentary team of NSW-based pundits such as Phil Gould, Ray Warren and Andrew Johns won’t be allowed to travel to Brisbane for Wednesday’s decider.
“They’re welcome to come but they will have to quarantine for 14 days,” Dr Jeannette Young said.

That was as poor as I've ever seen us play. Argies had the same game plan that England used in the World Cup, and we came up with the same result.

Dan Coles is a fucking moron he needs to be dropped.
The squad definitely has an attitude problem and I blame Sam Cane who is the weakest All Black captain of my lifetime.
I hate that Cheika was involved in that win.
Second loss in a row? That can't have happened very often in recent years, Shirley?
Queenslander

Has to be the first time it has happened without the Springboks involved.
Just watched some videos of this Paasi bloke and jeez, him and Walmsley in the same team is gonna make a few of the younger lads who face us think about switching to Union. Looks a beast. :flex:

lols at Cameron Smith selling his book around, sets Brad Fittler's heroic return to club coaching back ten years, and wins an Origin shield in a fourth different decade (either side of not coaching them for seventeen years). Lewis
19-11-2020, 12:05 AM
You would think so wouldn't you. He probably could write a great book calling everyone names, but he's the last person in the world that ever would. He's also too much of a CHAMPION BLOKE to make an interesting pundit, and too conscious of his legacy to walk into any old coaching job (or Gold Coast shirt), so it will be interesting to see what he does. He should come to Super League and do a couple of seasons at scrum-half without ever breaking into a sweat.

Just caught up with Origin, lol at that not being a penalty try. No one was going to catch him (he was closest to the ball when taken out, going full tilt and is, apparently, 'the fastest man on the planet'), the ball stopped in the in-goal so it wasn't going to run out, if the logic is he might have fumbled the grounding then when would you ever award a penalty try? Someone could always drop the ball. I get some of the slippery slope logic about how far from the line could someone like Addo-Carr be and be extremely likely to score, but the answer is surely quite far out if he's in a footrace with someone to get to a ball which has stopped in-goal, and in the instant example, he was nailed on to score.
Lewis
19-11-2020, 04:16 PM
You're never getting a penalty try that far out. He could have pulled up or had an asteroid hit him in the time it would have taken to score. Elsewhere, the new Lebanon coach is... Michael Cheika, apparently as a prelude to a full-time code switch. Imagine him seething at the bunker.

There are loads of forwards you would put ahead of him in terms of actually playing NRL, but you could see some reputation-based honours coming down the line. It's probably why he won't fight Paul Gallen in case they start comparing records and realising who the actual forward of the decade was.
Queenslander
12-03-2021, 01:13 PM
Gallen fighting a proper boxer is going to be some good veiwing. Lucas Browne is quite a step up from his previous opponents.
Who would be your top 5 forwards of Gallens era?
Lewis
12-03-2021, 01:43 PM
Over the entire decade I would go:
1. Paul Gallen
2. Sam Burgess
3. James Graham
4. Matt Scott
5. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves
Burgess was the actual best player, but between injuries and union he can't beat Gallen for consistency. Jason Taumalolo is a similar story, and his crap/lazy defence gets protected a bit.
Queenslander
12-03-2021, 01:54 PM
Waerea-Hargreaves went to a Union school in the same comp as the school I went too and was a bees dick away from signing with the Reds at one stage. Bloke would have been an incredible no.8.

His performances in those first two matches were as good as anything (that New South Wales halves pairing must be up there with the worst ever, and I think that try-saved finished Sam Thaiday off). Enjoying the naming history of their league mates, the Austin Gilgronis.
On 19 September 2019 after extensive polling at the end of the 2019 campaign, the team opted to rename itself the Herd. The logo remained the same although the orange color action was removed indicating a shift away from using orange for the upcoming season. Prior to the 2020 season, the team came under new ownership and were renamed the Gilgronis. The new name was immediately met with derision and mockery.

There arent any good highlight packages of Koroibete on youtube. Outside of his world class finishing he is a very good defender, he always makes metres as an extra brackrow runner running at forwards and he never loses the ball in contact.
Vunivalu will be the next bloke we talk about at the end of the year. His defense needs a lot of work atm moment though.
Another bloke that deserves a better highlight package. He would be a nice get for the Broncos. Always pops up at the right place righr time.

With the exception of early expansion efforts the squad Leigh have cobbled together is possibly the worst in Super League history, and they're doing the weird points system again, so the only things to look forward to are Greg Inglis and Kyle Eastmond. If he does the business Leeds could be quite dangerous.

Jarryd Hayne is going to get the Chris Benoit highlight treatment, so they must have seen this coming when they screwed him out of all the individual awards in 2014.
NRL officials privately believe they will have little choice but to strip Jarryd Hayne of his Dally M awards if any appeal against his sexual assault conviction is unsuccessful. Even though he hasn’t played for two years, Hayne’s conviction is a stain on the game’s reputation. Every news report about his case describes him as a former NRL star.
It has been a long time since the game has had to rewrite the history books by deleting an embarrassing part of its past. In 2010, former chief executive David Gallop took the courageous step of stripping Melbourne of their 2007 and 2009 premierships for breaches of the salary cap.
