I read something in the Metro which said Arsenal fans were 'ready to riot and burn shirts if Arsene Wenger signs Man Utd reject Jonny Evans'.
Why? He's a good defender.

Sky reckon Diamé's been offered a new three-year deal by Hull, but he's also due at ours for a medical this afternoon, so he's got a decision to make.
You'd think one or both of Navas and Nasri will become available now - City have Sané, Sterling, de Bruyne, David Silva, Nolito and Touré as a back-up for the attacking midfield positions, not including any good young'uns they might have.

Some next big thing.
I've no idea why clubs at City's (supposed) level bother with super expensive youngsters. Better off buying them for more when you find out they are actually good, rather than have them (most likely) fail to progress because of limited opportunities. For a Sterling and a Sane and any other youth mook they've bought in the past they could now have a Pogba instead. I've no idea if that would be a good deal or not, but at least he's proven at a decent level rather than having had a season or so of game time.

I have no idea about this Sane chap, but I recall Max Meyer donning Real Madrid a few years back for Schalke. What's happened to him?
If they wanted to waste a fuckton of cash on a young player they'd have been as well to chuck £50m at Spurs for Alli. At least that would have weakened a competitor.

It's a worry that we've not signed anyone, but quite understandable given the circumstances. We need to get M'Vila sorted asap though.
Diame would be great for Newcastle, I've always thought he was really good. Ashley Williams is overrated, but I don't see the point in Swansea selling because he's good for them.

I'm sure I've heard of this Alex Pritchard before, but I can't quite put my finger on where from. Hope that reported fee has a lot of promotion related add-ons included, otherwise £8m seems an awful lot for a nobody from the Spurs D team. Hopefully it also doesn't mean Stephens and/or Kayal are going to go, although that looks possible with the state of their contracts. Glenn Murray is going to wreck face this season.
He was at Brentford when they had their brilliant season under Warburton.
I'd missed Newcastle signing Matt Ritchie. He should be shit hot in the Championship.

I'm not sold on Clark - he seemed to have loads of potential at 21/22, but I'm still waiting for him to fulfil it. Still, adding him and Hanley could be a masterstroke given their past leadership and experience.

Local paper (reliable) says that they're nothing to do with each other. Plus we're short on strikers/no10s and Pritchard will play behind the striker, while Knockaert plays on the right for us.

Warming the bench, getting paid loads and enjoying glory for little input is probably Sissoko's idea of heaven.

Incredible really that the kind of performances he has put in over the last few years lands him a move to Madrid.

Just seen the list of clubs also showing interest, it's amazing. He'll be so seething if he ends up at West Brom.

Sissoko is bobbins really. He'll do okay against goatherders like Levante but he's well out of his depth compared to Modric/Kroos's level.
Rafa's building a pretty tidy squad at Newcastle. The thing about him is I think he's a good coach too. He'll likely improve the players there from their current level. Cairn Clarke, for example seemed like a decent prospect but has been coached solely by dickheads.
Mazuuurk
03-08-2016, 07:38 AM
Am I the only one who thinks Sissoko is actually very good? I reckon he'd definitely be an alright squad player for a direct team like Real Madrid (he wouldn't be suited for teams like Barca or Arsenal I think).
He also has the post-championship taint of glory about him that makes him a perfect signing for Real in the sense it may please the fans (since they likely may not want Griezmann anyway lol), may not be all too expensive (albeit maybe overpriced), and should fit in nicely in the squad.

Our main priorities are keeping hold of Kone, resigning M'Vila and getting a right back. One or two further additions to improve our quality would be great, but as I've said previously I don't think we're too far off having a decent squad. Nope, I think he's very good too and the link to Real Madrid suggests it's not an uncommon opinion.
That said, I value the mags opinions above others when it comes to Sissoko, and their overriding feeling seems to be that he doesn't turn up enough.

The most blatant example was when Sparta Prague first signed Pavel Nedved from whoever it was. They agreed a thirty per cent sell-on fee, and, when Lazio wanted to buy him, they sold him to some nobody club, who then sold him to Lazio five minutes later. They got busted in the end, and I think they ended up having to pay miles more than the sell-on percentage like a bunch of knobheads.
Max Power

When Porto sold Moutinho and James Rodriguez to Monaco I think they structured in such a way that Moutinho cost basically nothing so they avoided paying a sell on percentage. They possibly got done for that as well.

Should have asked Daniel Levy how to Jew other teams out of their sell-on fees.
Porto tried to fuck Sporting up the arse when Monaco wanted Moutinho and Hamez off them. They owed x amount to Sporting so they apparently asked Monaco to pay double for Hamez and pennies for Moutinho to get around paying up. No idea how it ended up going down, but it was a lol story at the time.

When Porto sold Moutinho and James Rodriguez to Monaco I think they structured in such a way that Moutinho cost basically nothing so they avoided paying a sell on percentage. They possibly got done for that as well.
Correct. If you sell a " package " og players, basically you decide how much it costs.
Bizarre example :
Pogba would have a 50% sell on fee on this most likely pathetic transfer to Manchester United . 2 years later florentino would decide they need him and pay 300 million to ManU. It's just to sell in a package of players where fellaini would have costed 299 million and Pogba 1 million. So juve would receive half a million.
Easy and legal.

Matuidi for €30M is apparently the replacement for Pogba. I didn't like him at the Euros.
What kind of system would you play Vim? Marchisio, Khedira, Matuidi, Pjanic (when all fit) in a diamond?
Funny. United's second choice was Matuidi so it seems Ravioli is a very happy agent.
What kind of system would you play Vim? Marchisio, Khedira, Matuidi, Pjanic (when all fit) in a diamond?
Either 4-3-1-2, or 3-5-2, as Allegri likes. Marchisio won't be back until at least October and even when he is, I imagine at least one of those players at a time will be resting. If everyone is really fit and ready to play, then Marchisio regista, Khedira and Matuidi on the outside and Pjanic behind the strikers.
In a 3-5-2, it will be Pjanic as regista, with Khedira and Matuidi outside. I can see us playing this system until Marchisio comes back.
Let's not discount Lemina either, he's probably going to be as good as Matuidi with one more year of experience.
I still think the Pogba deal is fishy, why has it not been confirmed yet? Likewise, Matuidi is top of the list for the replacements and a pre-deal is apparently in place, but nothing has been signed.
It'll be done over the weekend I reckon. I think it's more to do with Pogba having a break after the euros than any shenanigans.
It will be interesting to see how Pjanic does playing deep then, I always think he's more of a threat further up.
I think Mourinho said it'll probably be done by next weekend (without mentioning Pogba's name).

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri said in May 2015 that Pogba "needs to stop showboating in midfield" and that he makes "avoidable" mistakes
:D
He was so infuriating in the first part of last season, just doing his little shitty dribbles. He's far better when he has an actual goal in mind, be it scoring or getting past a player. Dribbing for the sake of dribbling is infuriating to watch, especially in an Italian team. Mourinho probably agrees.

The £89m will be the base cost, exclusive of agent's fees and potential add-ons, if that (phonics?) article about how the transfer market really works is anything to go by. How did it come to this? I'm sure transfers used to be discussed in terms of what the players were like, not the finer details of the fee structure. Do Juve have to publish full details of the deal? I'm sure that's been a thing in Italy in the past.

Bolasie for a fee 'rising to £30m'.
Where do you even start with that.

Sounds like we are in for one of those new Brazilian wonderkids who I've never seen play.
Gabriel Barbosa, €27m
From what I saw in the Olympics he is a piece of shit. May be because he is not used to the environment.. Ohh wait.

Isn't it basically Neymar and half U21/half C team out there, though? Not surprised they're not meshing very well.
Personally, never much understood judging players too much on international performances for that reason.

Paul Mitchell would be a decent replacement for Steve Walsh Leicester if he signs.
Despite the horrible shite that has come along with this transfer and the window in general, I'm really glad that we've gotten all (or the significant portion) of our business done before the season starts. The last few years have been a farce.

Ayew to West Ham is quite interesting. Where does he actually play? Up front, or like a winger, or what?
Also might make him a little more interesting FPL-wise.
I'm sure they've just signed him as he's Payets mate.
20m to keep Payet happy and playing as he did last season seems good business

Gives the fees for the attacking players during this window. £23m for a player with that pedigree is great business if true. Yes, brazilian attackers generally speaking havent been that consistent in the premier league, but if anyone can turn that around its leicester. Sign him up.

Fuck me, at least I could pretend that Icardi might not be bang average. Now we're linked to Wilfried 'Score the 3rd in a 3-1 win' Bony.

For £30m as well, about 3 days after City were reported to be desperate to sell and would take £15m. Doesn't sound likely.

Turns out Leicester have bought Barbosa to replace Mahrez going to Arsenal. I'm slightly less angry about it now.

Go on, bring in Mahrez now you fucking cunts.
Lewis
10-08-2016, 11:53 AM
If he manages to avoid missing half the season with an unspecified injury, you could see him being nowhere near as effective as he was last year. I'm not saying FOUND OUT, but the way Arsenal play, and how they tend to dominate, I would expect the piss and the wind to become a lot more apparent.

Agreed, Lewis. Mahrez is the typical player who benefits from faceing defenders on the back heel, with lots of space on the counter.
That always happens with overperforming teams of low-mid tier level in the PL. See: Ashley Young, Victor Moses...
It's what will happen to Mahrez, and also probably Mané (although with the way Klopp plays, Mané has a better chance at doing something I think, but probably wont).

Mahrez ain't going Arsenal lads.
And he's fucking quality and would be a success anywhere.

Besides, Arsenal have an insane amount of midfielders already.
Basically for the two central spots:
Xhaka, Coquelin, Elneny, Ramsey (?), Wilshere (?), Cazorla (?)
For the No 10 spot:
Almost anyone, but: Ozil, Ramsey (?), Wilshere (?), Cazorla (?)
For the wings:
Sanchez, Iwobi, Chamberlain, Walcott, Cazorla (?), Ramsey (?)
In total it's something like 11 midfielders competing for 5 places (but in reality almost more like 8 players competing for 3, since Sanchez and Ozil should both be quite given).
It just makes absolutely no sense to look for more midfielders. Chamberlain has had a good pre-season (for what thats worth...) and has just as much chance of success as Mahrez.
Arsenal should just spend all their money on CB and maybe a striker, although they may be able to get away with playing Sanchez up front, I dunno.
Sunderland to sign McNair and Love. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/aug/10/sunderland-6m-manchester-united-paddy-mcnair-donald-love
I can't remember how Love did but McNair showed some potential. Seems cheap when every man and his dog is costing £25m.
Love is shit, I thought. He's not really Premier League standard. £6m for McNair is a good signing, though.

The windows isnt shut yet but they really do need another center forward. Asking a 30 year old grioud to do it for five seasons in a row is a big ask. He should be backup to someone. There isnt any decent youngster coming through yet in that position?

Chuba Akpom!
But yeah, yeah Giroud should be the backup. He's great to have to throw into games for a late equalizer or winner in the box.

Presumably has had some injuries or has stopped looking after himself? Difficult to turn from decent into useless that quickly.

Probably get the same money for playing that wank as you do in League One or whatever, and you get to live in California.
