I was thinking that the mouthwatering possibility of Bolton v Accrington in next season's League One was the grimiest northern fixture it was possible to have, but Preston v Burnley is another contender.
Bournemouth v Chelsea, meanwhile...

Off to Arbroath/Montrose tomorrow in the hope for the young squads going at it again.

Somehow they need to make a film of this using Robin Williams footage.
Just got a letter through telling me I need to move seats next season because UEFA regulations stipulate that the TV gantry needs to be bigger. Wankers. That's me voting leave.

Agreed. Not sure why he waited until the end of the conversation to reveal his job (thought, Keys could have clicked on his profile, I guess).
Just got a letter through telling me I need to move seats next season because UEFA regulations stipulate that the TV gantry needs to be bigger. Wankers. That's me voting leave. How good is your seat now though? Might get a better one.
I once borrowed my friend's husbands season ticket and it was literally the best seat I could imagine. Directly opposite the dugouts, about the seventh row. Kinda ruined going to the game because I'll never have seats that good again.

If its a TV gantry thing then it's probably half-way up the main stand. A good view to follow a match. I usually wind up near pitch level.
How good is your seat now though? Might get a better one.

Two rows from the back, halfway line. About as good as you're going to get. Had a chat this morning and if I get in quickly enough in Monday morning I'll get a similar seat a row down. I don't really want to move from the blokes I sit with if I can help it.
Ah that's a good point that I didn't take into consideration.

Yesterday, Friday 22nd April 2016, a formal communication was received from UEFA stating that they are investigating a possible anti-doping rule violation by Mamadou Sakho.
The player will respond to UEFA on the matter.
The player is currently not subject to any playing suspension. However, the club, in consultation with the player, has decided that while this process is followed the player will not be available for selection for matches.
There will be no further comment at this time.
Jesus.
To be fair, everyone has probably always known that deep down as you just don't come as good as Sakho without taking something to enhance your performance.

Lol @ people suspecting Leicester players.
Fat burners are just another name for denchess enhancers. Everyone knows that. Didn't Kolo Toure get caught for something similiar some years back? I don't remember him getting banned so is there actually a good chance Sakho will get a ban out of this?

From Liverpool's point of view it's not that bad as the summer break will take about half of the ban away, but Sakho must be gutted if he gets banned as misses the Euro's (assuming he would've been in the French team).

They've gone 1 down, flood the pitch again Charlton.
Probably the most dour, damp squib of a title presentation ever at Ibrox today. A pathetic draw against an already relegated side doesn't really put you in the mood for a title party.
When one team is very obviously going to win it they should just have a delegate take the trophy to all that team's games.

Your next two games are very winnable. It's a good couple of points in the last two games as well, so a good foundation to build on.
Samadini
23-04-2016, 04:10 PM
Absolutely, but I'm wary of Survival Sam. I'd fancy them to get at least one win from their Stoke, Everton and Watford games. I'd much rather be playing Watford than Spurs last game of the season, so winning against both Palace and Villa just has to happen.
It's fucking great to not have that painful inevitability about it all anymore. Last time we went down, it was with a whimper, so Benitez is already a god. Dropping Wijanldum is heroic.

Agree that Burnley will do enough.
I'd definitely rather be facing a Birmingham side with terrible home form and nothing to play for than a much improved Derby side. But your general form is brilliant, your home record is great and you're scoring plenty, which Boro don't do. That might give you the edge. Wouldn't fancy supporting any of you three though. I'm shitting myself enough with a five point advantage.

Atlético Madrid preserved their title hopes with a 1-0 home victory over Málaga thanks to a deflected goal by the substitute Ángel Correa in the 62nd minute.

Iheanacho looks like a proper talent. How has he made it to nineteen before getting a run out? Aguero is broken enough and every other striker they've had poor enough that he should have turned up before now.
That shot from Arnautovic when he nicked it in the corner had a real air of 'I'll do it my fucking self' about it. He'd been setting them up for Joselu all day and he's absolutely hopeless. Looked like a cracking performance.

Fuck's sake, Floyd.
I'm enjoying this Frosinone-Palermo match. Frosinone were all over Palermo for ten minutes after half time, but the away side went up the other end and scored. Big game at the bottom, this. Whoever loses is probably fucked.
Weird atmosphere at Villa park. Good game though.
Yesterday was belting. Atmosphere at Wembley was pretty good and there were loads of people clearly on the piss for about 8 hours traveling up. On the pitch, Rashford and Martial were fantastic together and it looks promising. Also Valencia coming back seems to have added a bit more pace and fight.

I really want Newcastle to go down but it's purely on the basis of having had a closer look at how Mike Ashley works and wanting him to fail as much as is possible. On the other hand, I've never liked Sunderland and the prospect of Niall Quinn being banished from my television with their relegation is delightful. Is there a likely sequence of events which sees both relegated?

Quinn is absolutely gutted that Arsenal just had a penalty shout exactly the same as Sunderland's, he can't bleat on about it now.
They weren't anything alike :cab:
Fwiw I wouldn't have given any, but Yedlin's just bounced up onto his hand from his foot. Nothing he can do about that. Mertesacker had his arms waving around. But he was only about a yard away.

He's been tragic for about 3 months now. His body language is shocking, just jogs around the pitch too. Obviously has great quality, but he's just hiding now. He's actually been better coming off the bench last few games, but the team is built around work ethic and pressing now, so he's just not a good fit. Same reason Shelvey is on the bench, who plays (and by all accounts trains) like he's depressed and is going to retire in a few years.
We look better without both of them at the moment.

Shelvey I can understand, but I was thinking Wijnaldum was playing really well. Admittedly I haven't been keeping up as well as I might.
Samadini
24-04-2016, 03:17 PM
He was, but his form dropped off a cliff. Both he and Sissoko spent a good couple of months just sulking around the pitch, looking like they didn't even want the ball.
Seems like Benitez has managed to inspire Sissoko, who's playing his best football for a long long time. I'd actually start Wijnaldum over Perez in the next game, but it's a risk as even when he has been brought on he looks like he's a bit annoyed at having to play for Newcastle, but he's performed alright.
How's Guidolin been so far? He's a great coach imo, always chose to be in low-pressure jobs and did better than expected at Udinese considering they'd sell his best players every year.

12 months? Aye, sure. Its not league or bust, mate. Wenger's got some failings like struggling to find that leadership quality in the market and his template's woven into the fabric of things so he's finding it difficult to change it. But he's still winning. And without him you don't.

Fuck sake. No idea what we were trying to do yesterday; Welbeck up front and we'd have won that comfortably I reckon. Not sure why Coquelin's disappeared either. I think the moment that summed us up quite nicely was Walcott vs Kaboul following Mannone's mistake. Bottles it about 10 yards out and just jumps out of his way. Fuck off you absolute cunt. Get out of my club.
At least Leicester did the business, though I'm still inclined to think Spurs might just nick it. Will stick another Ł100 on at 5s and be done with it. If Leicester match their result next weekend though, it's over. You'd expect this Spurs side to smash Chelsea though.

Friday:
It’s no problem. In fact, there’s a very interesting study that has come out from Uefa that shows that the points taken by the teams three days later are not less than after four or five days. It’s the opposite and that is quite interesting. The study has been made in all the five best leagues in Europe. Nobody has proven that it is a disadvantage to have only three days rest. The points on average are better than after four or five days.
Sunday:
“You know with the fact that we played Thursday (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/apr/21/arsenal-west-brom-premier-league-match-report)[against West Bromwich Albion] and today that you could suffer a little bit physically in the second half and that’s what happened,”

Giroud does, what giroud does. He is good, and then bad during parts of the season. Saying that, he still drops 15 goals a season. He isnt at this point, going to improve any further and should be used as a backup stricker from this point forward.
Lots of people disrespect the man but somehow he has scored 50 premier league goals for arsenal in four seasons. His time has gone now though.

Agree that Welbeck would have taken those chances in the first half and agree that Walcott was a fucking coward, the guy just looks finished, where the hell does he even go after this? Probably thinks he's too big for mid table so he might just piss about in Spain or something I guess.

Speaking of Arsenal, strikers and failing:
VfL Wolfsburg part company with Nicklas Bendtner.
Striker Nicklas Bendtner is no longer a VfL Wolfsburg player. The contract with the 28-year-old Dane, which had been valid until June 2017, has been terminated with immediate effect. Bendtner had not trained with the team for quite some time and was recently exempted from participation. The striker joined VfL Wolfsburg on a free transfer in the summer of 2014 and since then made 47 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals.
“Both Nicklas and ourselves had high hopes of his engagement at VfL Wolfsburg, but after two years, we have had to ascertain that the expectations were neither fulfilled for him nor for us and a continued cooperation made no sense for either side. For that reason, the mutual decision to end our association prematurely is thus the best solution for all parties. We wish Nicklas all the very best for his future career,” commented VfL Director of Sport Klaus Allofs.
