Tried Aldi's efforts this weekend, pretty decent. Bottled my Raspberry Berliner today, got a Red IPA kit in the post. Bottling day is a ballache.

I love brewing but I fucking hate bottling day. I do it over about 6 hours now and it’s easier to take. Sanitise the bottles and all early on and then forget about it for a while until I’m priming.
Bottled a NEIPA on Thursday that tasted class on a sample.

Have you dabbled with kegging at all? Tried my Bavarian Wheat that has been conditioning for two weeks on friday and it tasted good which is a result.

I haven't yet as I've nowhere to keep a keg chilled but it definitely seems the way to go. I'd even like a 20 litre keg and just bottle the other 15 or so.

I did a Drygate order as I thought this was gonna take much longer so I ordered from Drygate (which came in under 24 hours!) and had some leftover from Beerhawk.

This is now coming today so yeah, I'm not short of beer.

Had a couple of my Drygates tonight and now the first I'm having from my Belgian box is a kriek. I like krieks anyway and they're good in the summer but this one interested me as it's knocking on 9% which is about three times stronger than the ones I've seen normally.

And honestly you could fucking damage yourself on this stuff. A cherry beer at this strength should be sickly and sticky but it's somehow really refreshing. Getting a load of these down you in the sun wouldn't be the worst way to go.

The kriek they do in my local Tesco is 7.5%. It's nicer when it's been in the fridge for about half an hour than it is properly chilled, but it is quite refreshing stuff.

Maybe I have had a stronger one but I feel like the ones I usually see are 3-4% at most.

I do love a properly nice fruit beer though. Had a German apricot one at a beer festival years ago and it was amazing.

Anyone seen any good real ale deals, with a view to Father’s Day coming up?

I’m more of a craft beer wanker nowadays, than real ale, and feel like my dad would begrudge his evening beers coming from a jazzy can and not a bottle.

He always picks the gold ones in pubs, so the lighter the better. Me and @Mike are going in jointly so a good deal for sub £50 would be perfect.

Also would rather not pay extra for the sake of getting a “free” glass in place of more beer, because he has plenty of them that my mum has robbed from pubs over the years.

Something like this? Nearly £3 a bottle so not much of a "deal", you'd get them cheaper in a supermarket depending how stock at your local ones are though these ones might be a bunch he's not had, if he cares about that sort of thing.

CAMRA have created an app called Brew 2 You so there might be some breweries on there able to deliver to you that do the sort of British pale ales I think you mean he likes.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. After you mentioned it on here my dad also emailed it to me. Maybe as a hint.

There’s an “18 bottle surprise” from the top rated National shop (just called A Local Beer Club, based in Northampton) that works out at £50.39 delivered, which sounds spot on.

EDIT: They do 24 bottles delivered for £55.

Well I was going to leave my last two good beers but I spent the afternoon in my sister's garden drinking and now I've come home and these are all I've got in so here we are.

First up is a Belgian brewery doing a Russian Imperial stout. You'd be all over this, @Queenslander .

I've found some of the stouts from Belgium in a Box haven't had that sort of richness I like from an imperial stout but no such problems with this one. Lovely stuff.

I've had a few of the Hitachino Nest ones and they've all been pretty good.

I've got orders from Tiny Rebel and Brass Castle on the way. The latter's pricing for their minicasks / minikegs is really good - https://brasscastle.co.uk/online-cra...y/5l-minikegs/

Even their 8.3% Imperial works out to just under £3.20 a pint. And if you got a couple of them in you'd get free delivery. When it looks like all the family might be able to be in the house properly and having dinner together I might order a couple to share with my dad and brother in law.

Think I've had the Hitachino Nest White Ale before and it was decent. It must have been a gift as I'm too much of an oik to pay £2 for a small bottle or whatever it runs in at normally. And getting near pub prices for a home pint seems slightly unconscionable.

I dunno, I don't remember seeing much that by modern standards makes me think they're doing anything especially out there unless there's something I've forgotten.

Maybe in the Stay Puft range:
    https://www.tinyrebel.co.uk/beer/imp...ay-puft-4-pack

But even there the only one that stands out much is the waffle and bacon one which will like just be a regular, sweetish imperial with some amount of salt and smokiness to it.

Tiny Rebel are excellent on the whole though.

    EDIT: @Giggles

Wasn’t great. Fairly standard pale ale given that they mention orange peel, nutmeg, and coriander on the can.

That sounds amazing. Only one I've had is a collab with Fierce (which was also ace) so I'm guessing that's the only one I've seen. Should check some of the Irish ones for my next order.

had a couple of imperial Stay Puft variants tonight.

Imperial Praline is exactly what you'd expect and absolutely gorgeous. The Imperial Waffle and Candied Bacon is weird, pretty sweet but without becoming sickly and also excellent.

    I fucking love Tiny Rebel.

Yeah Lagunitas IPA is excellent, they also have a good session IPA called Nailed I think? They used to sell it in Wetherspoons for £2 a bottle.

Has anyone ever had a Brewdog Tactical Nuclear Penguin? Seen varying opinions on the point of it in a home brew group spinning off the fact the DIY Dog book has recipes for some of their high volume stuff.
