    In numerical terms:

    NE: 1,542 positive tests
    NW: 7,781
    Yorks: 4,253
    E Mids: 7,942
    W Mids: 3,439
    East: 3,652
    London: 12,335
    SE: 3,565
    SW: 1,635
    Total: 46,144

Doesn't even fill the Stadium of Light. Time to get back to hand sanitised, mildly cautious normal.

I had a row with some battle-axe bint from the Hospitals Admin team earlier. My daughter gets terrible eczema on her arms and legs, and we've repeatedly had her dermatology appointments cancelled for the past 3 years. Today we got a letter trying to change it to a telephone appointment in 4 months time. This is clearly fucking stupid. So I phoned them.

After being rude in the way that only Dr's receptionists and admin can be, she eventually said "Yes, well, the Dr's are QUITE BUSY on the Covid Ward at the moment" to which my wife tells me "I didn't know dandruff was a fucking symptom?" was rude.

Theres barely anyone in hospital with it now, is there? 1-2000 max.

I’ll be firmly in that camp. Still going leave it a month from next Monday to see family.

Of course not, Scotland would lose that. Maybe Snooker or something.

Have heard this also. Some are genuinely scared due to all the propoganda on Facebook etc. Morons.

That's the City mob isn't it?

And yes, this will be an excuse for people for not doing anything, or wanting to stop other people doing anything, forever. I realise it's a simplistic take, but just look at the teachers (sorry Mo).

People are definitely taking the piss using it as an excuse for general incompetence now.

I had a wall sign delivered without any attachments yesterday, and they used it as an excuse because they're currently understaffed. What a load of shit.

It's the wasteman's peak excuse. All those underperformers will be absolutely loving it. Until they get made redundant.

It's grating. I fully understand that it may have been all hands on deck at the peak, but there's no way they're calling Dr Skintag in to check Betty's moles incase they're linked to her breathlessness.

My gran went in to hospital last weekend as her blood pressure was sky high (resulting in shortness of breath).

She spent the night in the *empty* COVID ward in Ninewells until her tests came back negative, and only then was she diagnosed, treated and discharged. Absolute madness.

Same happened with my Gran four weeks ago when she collapsed. Due to her coughing a few times in the ambulance they put her in the Covid unit which was completely empty and had to stay for two nights until tests came back

The problem that seems to run through all of this is people are incapable of reacting to the current situation, seemingly always x weeks behind.

My friends, for example, who've 'bunkered in', weren't doing so when it would have had the most benefit.

Jurgen Klopp is not only a brilliant football coach, but a wonderful human being - and a great representative of contemporary Germany. There are millions like him: why Germany has managed Covid so well. We used to stand with Germany in the EU. One day I hope we will again.

I don't even know what thread this belongs in, so many categories of bullshit does it contain, but I want to throw up.

Bunkering in when everyone else is flouting around and being a cunt is surely the best time to do it.

Well they're not, are they? Compare activity to a month ago and sure, it's busier, but compare that to prior to the late lockdown and we're still pretty quiet.

We should never have locked down. I think all things considered the government handled the locking down reasonably well, but they have muffed the retreat up on things like schools, and 'contact tracing' is just not happening, so the best thing we can do now it just give up and go back to washing our hands.

Sister just sent me a video that the primary school her kids go to explaining what the new norm is for the kids, the video is directed at the kids but Jesus, that's no fun.

School are some of your most important days for building relationships and gaining confidence just as much as education but it's quite tough viewing. Unisex toilets too.

Not sure if that's just Wales, mind.

The DfE came out with a lovely bit of revisionism this week, stating that primary school children do not, and have never needed to, socially distance. Imagine being the headteacher who has spent months stressed out, organising staffing rotas, key worker bubbles, socially distanced classrooms etc and then read that.

It's probably work the risk. 0.5% of all our cases have been under 15.

Oh I did the government's covid test (out of interest not because I thought we had it). Turned out we are currently negative. Would like to do the anti body test but I'm not spending £100.

So I finally get to go back to work on Tuesday. I know a few have seen me to be a moaner for obvious reasons but I really do feel blessed to have gotten through this. I'm feeling emotional today too as this is the closest it's ever come to me and I can't help but feel someone somewhere is looking out for me. Time to fix this life of mine once and for all.

It's grating. I fully understand that it may have been all hands on deck at the peak, but there's no way they're calling Dr Skintag in to check Betty's moles incase they're linked to her breathlessness.
Most paediatricians aren't pure specialists; they do some of their speciality work and some general paediatric on-call stuff (seeing the new kids who come in unwell, which would include working on the so-called 'covid ward'). There's many reasons outpatient clinics aren't running as normal at the moment; trying to reduce unnecessary visits to hospital, reduced consultant workforce due to shielding, increased on-call demands due to changes in rotas, etc. etc.

I can assure you people aren't just cancelling outpatient appointments unnecessarily because they like making children's lives difficult. There's actually been a huge amount of work gone on to keep things running as much as they have.

If it's legitimately true that they didn't start investigating or treating until she got a negative result you should complain.

It makes zero difference to the care you'll receive. It's just to try and avoid putting people with covid into a ward without it as much as possible. I have plenty of complaints with how things were done over the last few months but stuff like this is just common sense.

It's literally in written guidance from the DfE sent to my fiancee (teacher) that they have to social distance.
