The current plan seems to be either just keep them fed until the flooding goes away or send some instructors in and teach them how to dive. Both options seem quite mad.

Apparently they are draining the place, but considering it’s their wet season that’s a fucking long term game plan.

The rainy season in Thailand lasts for at least another 4 months, so if the plan is to build a home for them in the cave until then it'll make the Chilean miners look like a group of people who lost their keys in comparison.

Got to love the determination for a bargain.

Someone told us that people had been queuing there since 06:30 BST and one woman told us she had travelled for more than an hour to get there because it was her closest store.

A mother in Milton Keynes said she had taken her five-year-old daughter out of school to ensure they could get in the queue for a discounted bear.

"She's only five, they're not really doing much in school that's important at that age," she said.

It's a kid's store where you literally go in and build a teddy bear piece by piece.

They have like different bits and pieces you(r kid) throw(s) together, sometimes licensed by kid's shows or Disney movies, things of that nature.

It's precious too cause they have like a little plastic heart that you put into him/her at the end before it gets sewed up or what have you

Earthworm Jim wishes he could have a mane as luscious and thick as mine. I would have gone for 'A shit version of Steve Buscemi' btw, it's both more original and more accurate. I used to take offense to the characterization but it's disturbingly bang on.

    I mean look at it:

I wonder whether I'm actually his bastard son sometimes. Like a crap Ronan Farrow.

But she was criticised by those who said the role should have gone to a transgender actor.

Find it... interesting that it's deemed Jared Leto can play a trans woman and get an Oscar nomination for it but Johannson can't play a trans-man. Almost like they're being judged on different scales.

If this film shows the character at any point as their original woman self, would the tranny actor not be able to film those bits? It reminds me of that Guardian piece about how Stephen Hawking should have been played by a disabled person ('cripping down', surely?).

On a practical level too, perhaps hiring a non-disabled actor is easier. The ability to walk allows Redmayne to portray Hawking before being diagnosed with motor neurone disease. But I can’t get away from the fact that, if these arguments were made for white actors “playing black”, our outrage would be so great that the scenes would be left on the cutting room floor.
How do you earn money writing when you're that thick?

    https://www.npr.org/2018/07/17/62939...w-has-79-moons

    Jupiter Now Has 79 Moons

More than 400 years after Galileo Galilei discovered the first of Jupiter's moons, astronomers have found a dozen more — including one they've dubbed "oddball" — orbiting the planet. That brings the total number of Jovian moons to 79.

The team of astronomers originally wasn't even looking for the 12 new moons. Scott Sheppard of the Carnegie Institution for Science says he and his colleagues had been trying to track down a giant planet they think may be lurking at the outer reaches of our solar system.

As part of that search, Sheppard was using the 4-meter Víctor Blanco Telescope in Chile in March of last year and realized that Jupiter was right near the part of the sky he wanted to search.

"So we could also search for Jupiter moons while looking for things that are well beyond Pluto," Sheppard says.

One thing that helped was the especially large camera attached to the Blanco telescope. "[That camera] allows us to search the whole area around Jupiter in a very few images," he says.

TWELVE?! TWELVE!?!?! I could understand maybe you missed one here or there... maybe that one looked kinda like another one so you thought it was the same... but you found 12?!!?!
