I can attest that Greece are playing world class football ever since we won the Euro.

Adam, are we buying a busted flush in Sokratis? 16m is the price which seems far too cheap for us not to be getting made fools of.

Haven't watched him that closely for the last couple of years or so, apart from the Greece games, but he used to be a very reliable defender and I can't see why that would have changed. At that price it's definitely a bargain. I think his contract is up next year or so and that's why.

Edit: In terms of playing style I reckon he suits Arsenal (or well, Arsene-era Arsenal) as he's good with his feet and quite fast for his height.

Cheers for that. Unrelatedly, it's an absolute farce that yellows aren't wiped until the semis. 2 yellow cards in 5 games is worthy of being ruled out of the semi final of the fucking World Cup? Madness.

Yeah, terrible rule, particularly with the modern approach to yellow cards (although the refs have been inexplicably lenient at points in this tournament). Accumulated yellows shouldn't really lead to suspensions in knockout competitions.

I see newspaper headlines about Colombian hardmen hatch(et) plan for Harry. They were the ones who broke Neymar's back in the last world cup, weren't they?

Davison Sanchez looking at a P45 on Wednesday if that's the plan, mind.

It didn't amount to anything, but that pass there from Perez to Di Maria was a beauty.

    Rojo

Such a stupid challenge, ball was really getting away from Mbappe with how far he'd knocked it ahead of himself.

Rojo really made sure he'd go down, didn't he?

4th penalty in 4 games for France.

That was quite a horrible penalty, wasn't it?

It really annoys me how commentators always say a shit penalty has been "coolly slotted away" just because the keeper guessed the wrong way.

I think they are under the illusion that all players wait until the keeper moves and dives before shooting the other way.

Keeper would have gotten to the ball, no? Going from memory here because I didn't pay much attention to that aspect, but that was my first impression before the foul was even given.

This Argentina defence is food for Mbappe. When he runs, he just moves away from them like they standing still.

Why have Argentina set up like this? Doesn't seem to suit Messi at all, and Di Maria are unlikely to take a chance if it comes their way.

Argentina's first team looks just as bad as the England & Belgium reserves did. They're absolute dogshit.

They need to clear half this team out - Higuain & Mascherano should be finished now, and probably a few more. They probably wouldn't even be too damaged if Messi retired as well.

I think Chile must have just been managing themselves because Sampaoli is clearly a complete retard.

Argentina are crying out for a proper number nine here, but Higuain is on the bench and Icardi is having a barbecue somewhere.

I mean he's playing 2 wingers on the same side as their preferred foot (so they want to go on the outside and get crosses in) with a false 9 (who drops back to leave space for wingers to come inside). He must be trolling.

Pavard has looked like a great player this tournament.

Well, that goal was a direct result of the genius tactics from Sampaoli. Lure France into a false sense of security by playing like a pub team.

Giroud has seemed completely off this half. I guess he hasn't got many chances, but every time he looks like he's in a different wavelength to the rest of the French attack.

That little move Mbappe used to get away from the defender there was lovely. Moved the ball half a yard, a little body feint, then off the other way while the defender was left looking like someone had just slapped him around the face.
