Looking for a set of wireless earbuds for myself. Totally wireless, not too bulky, works with iOS, good sound quality. Not too fussed on noise cancelling or price, but they have to have something for holding them in your ears, something like the original pixel buds, so I can’t do airpods (they would have been first option). Suggestions?

They’re a bit on the ugly side but good shout. They would never fall out and should work flawlessly with the phone.

My wife wanted something identical to your spec recently so I did some research and they were the resounding winners. Although presumably yours aren’t for running and AirPods fall out because of your tragus piercing.

Sadly they were out of her price range (and wouldn’t let me order snides from China) so ended up with some cheapo clones from Amazon, but they serve her purpose.

I was gonna get her the Powerbeats Pro for her birthday but she’s perfectly happy with the ones she got - they’re called Holy High or something like that, I’ll spare you the referral link - so I might as well save my money.

I just can’t get any pair to stay in my ears unless they have a thing sticking out of the top to hold them in. Even sitting they’d fall out.

There's some new Apple overhead ones rumoured to be coming out later this year

Don’t want overhead, want the kind that are two separate completely wireless ones.

I might just wait on these new Pixel Buds 2.

They’re actually up on the site now, so they must be releasing soon. They announced the bloody things in October.

In a fit of ennui, I've gone on a bit of a buying spree this weekend:

    - Silicon-tipped Tongs
    - 12-inch Kitchen Tweezers
    - Spice Grinder
    - Spider Strainer
    - DDJ-1000 DJ Controller

$1900, which is about 1000 quid. My old NI controller crapped out, and I wanted to get on Rekordbox. I need a mobile solution for when things open up because lugging around my CDJs/Xone is not the answer.

Going to give Google a month to see if they give any indication on selling the new buds and if not I’m settled on a set of JBL Reflect Flow Sports. Look ideal.

Anyone know of a flask that would keep some coffee warm most of the day? I was back on the road again today so had my last one at 8am. Came home gasping for one.

When I used to use a thermos it was good at least until 2pm, maybe gets a bit lukewarm by five.

I got a Yeti from my company for one of those "hey we care I swear" gifts and I gotta say I'll fill the cup at like 7am and it's still reasonably warm by the evening.

Thermos is a brand of flask, but if they’re still the best one then you’ve accidentally been helpful.

There's all sorts of wankery available (including some battery-powered, IoT-enabled guff that tracks your caffeine intake), but with kitchen stuff you're hard-pressed to beat Japanese craftsmanship.

It's shifting from 'novelty' to 'embedded' (which means we're getting smarter with exactly what things actually need to be on the Internet). This was driven home to me late last week when my mate complained that his fridge was leaking and had automatically pushed a notification of the leak to his building superintendent.

Luca knows. I have this and it is basically magic. Put some warm coffee in here and it'll still be pretty drinkable at breakfast tomorrow.

Bought a pack of 5 ethernet cables because I only have the one. Amazon say it's arriving Saturday. Today Royal Mail stopped Saturday deliveries.

Is it being delivered by Royal Mail? I thought Amazon used courier companies.

I dunno. I get plenty of Amazon stuff delivered for the guys upstairs. Timing wise, most of it feels like a Royal Mail delivery unless it's bulky.

If the item is actually sold by Amazon it wont be done through Royal Mail.

They also rarely send stuff that's due on the weekends by RM too.

Bought Galaxy Buds Plus in the end and I accidentally seen in a Pixel Buds 2 review that the Samsung actually do have ear fin things to keep them in but they don't normally show them as they're an extra in the box. They also have a dedicated app on iOS and triple the battery life of the Pixel Buds 2 (plus I'm sick to the teeth of Google thinking the planet doesn't exist outside the US).

Went in to a job this morning at 10:30 and was able to have a cup of perfectly hot coffee at 17:00. The last drop was sitting in it for 4 hours too, normally these things are shite if they’re not full but not a bother on this.

Question arising Giggles as I'm a language geek: are you from north Dublin? I only ask because one of my customers is from north Dublin and always says 'not a bother' in pretty much every sentence, so I'm wondering if it's just something said there, or a general Irish thing.

General. It, or some form of it, would be said a lot across the whole country. I’d probably say ‘no bother’ more in general speaking.

Thanks. There are loads of such things I've noticed Irish say which we don't, 'grand' being a big one, also 'so' at the end of sentences. Quite like most of them, more poetic than our everyday speech.

Grand is always one that people noticed me saying, especially any Scots/NI I worked with. Always said it sounded weird to them. I think to the Scots it more meant something was big and fancy.

You probably get “Well” a lot on the phone as a hello.

A lot of them just start talking without saying who they are, which is something only the Irish do and is quite irritating as it means I have to get them to start again every time.

There's one guy down south who says 'How are things' to mean 'Hello', which took me a good few months to work out.
